PDF's sticky notes batch sync

Hello!
Is there any way to syncronize sticky notes (comments) betwen two copies of the same pdf file?
I know, it is possible to do it using 'expot/import comments' function, but i need to do it in batch mode, i.e. i have 100 pairs of pdfs and i want to join comments in each pair to one file.
I think it is posible to do it programically with some Acrobat API manupalation...
Have you any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Ben

So, you think I have to post this question at Adobe Acrobat forum?

  • Presenter pdf and sticky notes

Is there a way to get Acrobat X sticky notes to work in a pdf created by Adobe Presenter 7.0.7?  They do not seem to stay attached to the slide, but rather stay in place on the screen.

I was able to attach sticky notes to individual slides and they appear in the comments panel, but they don't always appear when the slide is displayed. This was with Acrobat 9 since I can't test with Acrobat 10 at the moment, but when I tested it with Reader 10, it behaved as you described. I'm not sure what to think of this different behavior, but it could be a bug. The notes added with Acrobat 9 stayed on their respective slides when viewed in Reader 10, for what it's worth. I'll have a bit more time to look into this later today...

  • Sticky Notes in a pdf file cause ie7 crashed.

This is a very interesting bug.
System version: Windows XP with SP3
    Adobe Reader Version: 9
    IE version: IE 7
    Files needed for testing:
a pdf file (note.pdf) with Sticky Note displayed.
a html file (note.html) which has a url link to note.pdf
    Action which causes the crash:
    1.       Open note.html in a new IE window
    2.       Click the link to open the note.pdf in a new window or a new tab, then close it
    3.       Click AGAIN the link to open the note.pdf in a new window or a new tab, then close it
Then you could see the error window popup, the ie7 browser crashed. This has been tested in 3 PCs.
Check the Error Event, it said:

  • Adobe Reader XI - Sticky Notes Inactive

I am using the Adobe Reader XI program. Every time I place a sticky note and save the pdf. and reopen the pdf, the sticky notes appear to be rotated and are inactive. Can someone help with this issue?

Can you please tell us following so that we can reproduce this at our end -
    a) Make sure you have updated Reader patch applied on XI. It should be 11.0.6 and if it is not, please update it then re-try.
    b) If you are already on 11.0.6, then is this problem started after updating to 11.0.6 or it was there earlier as well?
    c) Does this happen with particular file only or in general with all files?
    d) Can you please provide the snapshot of rotate and inactive sticky notes?
    Thanks,

  • Add Links throughout pdf file to sticky notes

I want to be able to click on a word on one page of a pdf file and it will take me to another page of the same pdf and open a sticky note.  Is this possible.  Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks for that information.
I did not see that the “go to view link” could change documents. I thought it was only within a document.
I manually added two “go to view links” and that seems to work on both mac and pc computers.
    That brings up two questions.
For old files can a acrobat java script batch file be setup to read the hyperlinks in a pdf document  and replace them with a “go to view link” style?
Can one place a “go to view link” style in a word document and then have the adobe convert to acrobat process it into the pdf format with the rest of the document? (or set up the converter to make word hyperlinks change to pdf “go to view links”?

  • How do I search for sticky notes in a PDF doc?

Several people (at work) have commented on a 440-page document that I created, using sticky notes to write their comments in. When I first open the document, the sticky notes are all closed. The icon for a closed sticky note is pretty small and not brightly colored, so they're easy to miss when scrolling through hundreds of image-heavy pages. I am hoping that it's possible to search for each occurrence of a sticky note.
If there is no way to search for the notes, is there a command I can use to open all the notes in the file (in one action) so that they are larger and easier to spot?
    Platform: Windows 8 PC
    Version: Acrobat 8
If this is not a feature available in Acrobat 8, is it possible to do this in later versions?
Apologies if this is not the right community for this question, but none of the ones listed seemed like the obvious choice, and there is no "miscellaneous" or "general" category. If there is a better community for the question, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Joyce.

Out the gate you've a problem.
The Acrobat 8 product family passed into "End of Support" many years ago (well before the release of Windows 8).
"End of Support" means -- well, just that eh.
The Acrobat 8 product family is not compatible with Windows 8.1, 8 or 7.
The Acrobat XI product family is compatible with Windows 8 / 8.1.
Regarding Comment and Mark Up Annotations:
With Acrobat 8 Pro use the "Comments List".
Same wit Acrobat 9 Pro, X Pro and XI Pro.
May be available with the various versions' "Standard" release.
The contents of a Comments List can be exported to a PDF report.
The filter an be used to display specific characteristics / attributes which then become the reports content when you output a report.
Having "8" the Help PDF file got loaded with the install of "8".
Use it to review the information provided on the Comments List.
    Be well...

  • Disappearing Sticky Note Comments in Acrobat 9 PDF Reviews

I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro (version 9.3.2) and the reviewers are using Reader 9, and all of us are on Windows XP SP3. I'm distributing PDFs for online review using a SharePoint site (SharePoint Server 2007).
We've observed the following behaviour if you Show Comments List and enter comments for a sticky note using the comment field in this list:
If your cursor is still in the comment field when you publish, you'll get a message saying that a new comment was published, but the contents of the sticky note are missing from the other reviewers' views. They can accept the new comment and the metadata for the sticky note will appear, but the comment will be missing.
If you publish again, you'll get a message saying that a comment was updated, and then the other reviewers will see the contents of the sticky note.
If you enter comments in another sticky note (and leave the cursor in the comment field) before you publish for the 2nd time, you get a message saying 1 comment has been updated and 3 new comments have been added when you hit Publish. Why 3 new instead of 1?
If your cursor is in the comment field, and you haven't published yet, and you do any other activity (such as sorting, filtering, collapsing the discussion), then whatever you had typed in the comment field disappears.
This same behaviour has been observed for replies to sticky notes.
Comments do not go missing if you type in the sticky note pop-up, or reply in the pop-up.
The obvious workarounds are to enter sticky notes in the pop-ups instead of the Comments List, or click elsewhere on the List before doing anything else, or hit Publish twice. However, I don't think we should have to work around this. So, before I ask Adobe to fix this behaviour, has anyone else seen it? Or is there something about how to use the interface that I'm missing?

  • Created a PDF and added sticky notes, saved and emailed for review, recipient could not see or read the sticky notes.  What needs to be done for my sticky notes to be seen and read when emailed.  Thanks

I scanned a map and printed to create a PDF document, at that point I added sticky notes of different locations with notes of descriptions, saved and email to client for review.
Client received email but when he opened the attachment, all he could see was the map and none of my sticky notes.
What needs to be done so the recipient can see my sticky notes and read the descriptions for each sticky note?

    Hey roy,
Could you please tell me what is your Acrobat version?
Please ensure that recipient downloads the PDF and uses either Adobe Acrobat or Reader to open the sticky notes.

  • Is it still possible to attach sticky notes to a pdf file? Which Adobe product will enable this?

Is it still possible to attach sticky notes to a pdf file? Which Adobe product do I need to do this?

Both Acrobat and Reader 10/11 can, and previous versions of Reader can if the document is enabled to allow it. Mobile versions of Reader can too.

Since i lost all my pdf files, is it possible to restore them from a back up?
    Thanks for reading this.

You have asked this same question three different times now. If the PDF files did not appear when you restored form the backup, I'm sorry, but they are gone.

  • Use of Sticky Notes with PDF

how do you use sticky notes to edit a pdf file?

    Hi redland7
Sticky Notes are a part of Commenting feature in acrobat... If you have a PDF File, then you can place sticky notes as comments to inform or provide some extra information to users ...
Please see the below link to know more about sticky notes : http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-to-work-with-the-comment-tools

  • Is there is way to export sticky notes in pdf to excel?

    Hi,
I'm trying to export all the sticky notes i placed in the pdf file to excel. Is there a way I could do that?

    Hi Pat,
I'm not using Export PDF. All I need is to export the comments placed in the pdf to excel.
I did some research and found out that there is an option to export the comments to MS Word  using 'export to word' option in the comments pane options on the right in Adobe reader XI. Here is the link:  [http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/export-pdf-comments-to-word.html]. But I could not find this option in Adobe reader XI in my PC. I want something that can export to excel just like this option exports to word.
Or at the least if I could get the 'export to word' option in the comments pane to appear (which I do not see for some reason now), I could convert the comments to word and later to excel somehow.
I need help with exporting comments to excel or atleast to word (if I could find that option in comments pane).

  • PDF sticky notes

    Hello all,
I have a project in which i have to do following things:
    1. Open the PDF in the browser.
    2. Write sticky notes on it.
    3. Extract those sticky notes from the PDF and save it to database.
(meaning there should be some button on the PDF which will ave those sticky notes)
    4. Next time when the PDF is open it should be linked to those sticky notes in the same place.
Is it possible to get sticky notes feature on the web browser and also is it possible seperate out the sticky notes from PDF.
    Thnaks,
    Rohan

    George,
    Thanks for your reply.
Using FF6 now (FF4? previously), andagainAcrobat 8 (full version).
Yes, Acrobat toolbar appears in browser.  Even within the browser, I'm
able to rt-click to choose "Customize," then "More tools" + "Comment &
Markup Toolbar" + check the checkbox for "Sticky Note"--but when I hit
"OK," it just goes back to the previous Acrobat toolbar (without Sticky
Note ).  For one thing, if it's
not going to let you select those things, the option shouldn't be
thereat best, the options should be there but GREYED OUTbut that's a
whole other level of usability problem.
I recall having had this frustration long ago, and then spending an
inordinate amount of time figuring out how to fix the problem--which I
did, but I have NO IDEA what was done to fix it.  It seems like it was
enabling some feature within Acrobat--like "enable review groups" or
some such seemingly random thing as that.  ("Random" to me because I
just use sticky notes to make notes for myself [or other subsequent
readers of the document]; I've never used group review features [or
whatever they call them now, or whatever they used to call them...!)
I'm just a standalone user who just simply wants to put sticky notes in
documents I read on the web, and THEN (with a single click) save the
result locally.  (Yes, I know I can save the document somewhere, open
Acrobat, FIND the document, etc., etc., etc.--but what an INCREDIBLE
    waste of time that is!!)
I've poked around in Acrobat options, and spent another inordinate
amount of time looking for a solution on the web, but still haven't
(re-)figured out how to fix this problem.  Interestingly, my internet
search for the problem almost immediately brought up someone else who
had the exact same problem--but that person was ME!! ...and,
unfortunately, it wasn't a thread that anyone answered.
Am very appreciative of your attention to this issue, and would love it
if you had some insights you could share RE: a solution.
    Aloha,
