PDF "Save-As"

I created an editable pdf from our job application, so that a person can "fill it out", save to computer and attach to a web page form that i created so it sends to email address as attachment.
It all works great until I tested on a PC without LiveCycle installed.   It says it can only save a blank copy.  This doesn't work or help my cause!
Is there a way to let anyone with Adobe Reader to fill out the PDF and save it to their computer to attach the file?
The reason I did it this way is because if I added a "Send to email" button, it would attach to an email, and the job applicant may be at a Library or Job Agency where they don't have an email client; or more yet, the applicant may not have an email address to send from...
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

When you say 'LiveCycle installed' I assume you are referring to Acrobat Professional.
Is there a way to let anyone with Adobe Reader to fill out the PDF and save it to their computer to attach the file?
Acrobat has it all. You can fill-and-save forms, import/export data, make a connection to a database, call Web Services, and use digital signatures, amongst a host of form-related features.
If your users have Reader and you want the same form functionality that is enabled by Acrobat, then you are required to use LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES to rights-enable a PDF. LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES is a server-based solution component. When a user opens a PDF that has been rights-enabled, Reader behaves like Acrobat. The most common use of Reader Extensions ES is to enable a PDF with local save so Reader clients can fill interactive PDF forms and save locally.
The exception to the rule is the feature in Acrobat Pro Extended that enables you to extend forms in the same manner as LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES. Go to the toolbar, click Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader. There is a sub-set of rights that can be enabled in a PDF form. There are licensing limitations imposed, however.

  • Share PDF Save Presets

I'm looking for a simple way to share PDF save presets.  Ideally, some kind of package I can email to both Mac and PC users for use in both Acrobat Pro XI and Illustrator CS6.  Would likely be used mostly in saving .ai to PDFs in Illustrator.
Manually describing save settings through email always leads to user-inaccuracy.  Would be great if there was a file type that, when opened, just plugs itself into relevant programs with PDF export or save options.
Would really appreciate some help on this!

I made a custom PDF preset called HQS_150ppi. It's been saved into the path I wrote about. Note the .joboptions extension:
In InDesign CS6, it's shown in the Export > Adobe PDF (Print) dialog box or File > Adobe PDF Presets. In Illustrator CS6, it's shown in Save As > Adobe PDF (pdf) dialog box or Edit > Adobe PDF Presets:

  • Optimize PDF Save

    Hi,
In our project, we are doing some image processing operations on images in PDF pages.
For that we will do following steps:
    1.       1. Extract image from PDF page. (Getting image as uncompressed format)
    2.       2. Do image processing operation.
    3.       3. Flatten the processed image into PDF page.
While doing these steps, our PDF file size getting increased.
For that, we decided to do OptimizePDFSave Operation after step3 and confirmed that PDF file size is reduced.
Code used for Optimize PDF Save operation:
Here we are using JPGE compression type for images (“Standard” parameter).
Customer feels like JPGE compression is loss compression type.
Customer is expecting same image compression type available in PDF image content.
Please help us to resolve the issue.

What is the issue, exactly? JPEG is lossy, certainly. What was the original compression on the images? Why don't you just compress the images as you write them rather than later using the optimizer?
    I'm afraid I don't understand your code. Why would a plug-in send a WM_CLOSE message to Acrobat?

The Cloud is for Apple-purchased items only. To get pdfs across multiple devices, you can email them, sync them through itunes or save to an app like Dropbox (a cloud-based service) and open in iBooks.

    Hi Josh,
"I reinstalled bullzip to the latest version before it crashed."
Do you mean you have tried to reinstall the bullzip to resolve the issue or it crashed after we performed a reinstallation. There is a possibility the installation of the software has corrupted .
"Recently, one of my user encounter PDF and Chrome crashes whenever she attempts to save or to open a pdf document."
Will the issue only occur when we try to open an  PDF file from the Chrome online or  even occur when we open a local pdf file  ? This will help us to troubleshoot whether it is caused by the browser.
If it only occurred online ,please try to use another browser to have a check .If that is the issue ,you may need to look for help from the Chrome browser forum for help.
If it occurred with the local files .How many PDF browser do we have ?
We can check the present pdf file association and try to recreate the file association to have a check.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\ Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
Apart from this ,we should check the registry at the same time.

  • Why won't my word document converted to PDF save?

When in word, I select the option to convert to PDF, the document is scanned and I'm prompted to save as PDF. All seems to work except it doesn't actually save! This was working previously until an update a few months ago. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

First, have you removed from Printer Utility the Adobe PDFPrinter 9.x fom the list then close Printer Utility.
Then open Acrobat or Adobe Reader and go to help menu and choose to repair or rplace. Choose to replace the PDFPrinter only.
(One thing that we can't seem to get Aodobe to fix is that (at least in X.4.11 and I've heard some folks using X.5.x talk about.
When you go to page setup in Acrobat you can not select any Printer what so ever.
Does not even pickup choices in the Print/Fax Control panel in system preferences.
However you can choose it in the Print menu.
IF you decided to install Reader, you may or may not be able to set printer in Page setup.
However, if you can set up in Reader's page setup. It will show up in Acrobat's.
Its an obvious bug Adobe refuses to admit or can't fix. I've heard some say they've heard the problem but never seen it.)
Next, open Word 2008 or 2004 (don't remove 2004 it has far more features than 2008)
    create your Document.
Save a copy as DOC or DOCX document first.
Now go to Print menu and choose Acrobat PDFPrinter 9.x(x being the most current revision).
and choose Print. with the version 9.x  the pdf will automatically be set to desktop and you have no choice where it save.
All versions previous to 9.0 a window would come up giving you a chance to choose the dsired location.
9.0 does not. THis is a super major bug, that only a rank amature would committ.
One thing Apple has preached fro day one; do not save any file you want to keep to the desktop.
The desktop is a Temporary file. and in event of a crash the desktop is rebuilt and the file may go missing.
Items such a Yahoo widgets get by, by using a special Database that tells where each widget is supposed to go, and and in event of  crash simply recreates them.

  • Can't pdf save documents from Firefox 6.0.2

I have windows XP sp3 + all updates, Firefox 6.0.2 and Adobe Reader X (10.1.0).
When I download a document from the web and use the Adobe Reader options to save the document to disk I get the following error message.
"The Disk you were saving to or the Disk used for Temporary files is  full.  Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a  different disk."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled but get same result. My other PC's have same setup and work okay.
If I open a document with Adove Reader and save as it works, so it seem to be associated with the Firefox plugin.

"Save as" from within the browser is ok. However it is not the most convenient method.
I've deinstalled Adobe Reader X and deleted all the remaining files from a previous version (8) which had obviously not been cleared correctly, and cleaned the hard disk including registry keys with CCleaner. Then I've reinstalled Adobe Reader X. The problem remains
I understand that there are several problems with Acrobat Reader X in all sorts of browsers. Saving is one of them, but also opening pdf-files from within a browser may cause problems (I had this from time to time). See also the following threads in this forum:
    - thomas.croonen "can't save PDF from Internet Explorer embedded Adobe Reader", first posted on March 6, discussion still active
    - fonduekid "Adobe Reader X - Firefox integration Problem", first posted on November 23, 2010, dito
Thus I wonder whether Acrobat has planned the fixing of these problems (even for old Windows systems like XP) or whether we have to cope with the inconveniences. And I am surprised that there is no official answer by Acrobat to this obviously quite common problem.
    Bye,
    Franziska

  • PDF "save as" Word doc

    I'm using Acrobat 8 Pro.
I need to get text out of a couple of PDFs (the text will ultimately go into an InDesign document, but at this point I'm just trying to get any kind of usable text file out of the PDF).
I've tried several "save as" options, and I either get a text file (.doc, .rtf, or .txt) with a hard return at the end of every line, or a text file with each paragraph in a separate text box.
Is there any way to get a usable text file out of a PDF? Maybe a plug-in? It would be nice to preserve italics, bolds, etc., but at this point I'd settle for a file that wouldn't require manually deleting all the extra hard returns or getting text out of dozens of text boxes.
    TIA,
    Marlene

I seem to get hard returns in all cases. That is why I had the short answer. I do not remember if saving as a DOC got rid of the hard returns. Of course the simplest way to find out is to try it. I went to another machine and the Save As to a DOC file did not put in the hard returns (cut and paste did). I should note that the PDF was produced from a totally different word processor and was not a WORD native document. That would suggest it is not dependent on the tags that can be included by WORD and PDF Maker.

  • Firefox printing to Adobe PDF saves pages as images

I like to save articles / webpages as PDF. The printer that i am using is the standard PDF printer that comes with Adobe Acrobat Professional version 9.4
Firefox prints to PDF pages as image files, whereas Internet Explorer etc is able to print pages as simple PDF where text etc can be selected.
Previous to this, i was having a huge problem in printing to PDF. I tried other PDF printers with the the same issue. The PC would just freeze etc if i tried to print to PDF from Firefox version 3.6 etc.
The PC is an Core i7 950 3.0GHZ with 6GB RAM, so not really an old PC.

I had the same problem. Here's how to fix it:
Go to "about:config", set "gfx.direct2d.disabled" to "true"

My first thought is to make sure the fonts used are common. If there is a substitution, things will be off.

  • Save As PDF saves a blank pdf file

    Hi,
The save as pdf function used to save the the main part of a web page.
After the current update now the files created still have several pages, but they are all blank. No text visible.
Is this a bug or is something wrong with my setup?
This is on a Droid X with 2.3.3 (Gingerbread), FireFox 27.0
I love this function. I hope it can be fixed.
I wish this function was in the Desktop Browser too.

    Hi,
I've tried it on a couple of sites, both didn't work.
I've tried opening the pdf with qPDF Viewer, and Kindle, and on my desktop with Foxit Phantom.
Perhaps I didn't make this clear. I'm using the Menu/More/Save as PDF browser function. The browser is creating the PDF, it's not downloading the PDF from the website.
I've reverted back to the 23.0 version and it's all good again.
So even if the PDF is being created via a cloud service the problem is in the FireFox app.
If you want I can setup or find a test case for you.
    Update.
I got a few samples for you.
Apparently it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. This is with version 27.0. Version 23 always worked.
I supplied a screen-shot of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/home and the resultant pdf; Products.pdf. Notice that is omits all styles.
Also, WordPress.com - Get a Free Blog Here.pdf is the home page of wordpress.com. Notice it's blank.
Also, The Mystic Sage Musings.pdf is missing styling. url: http://mystic-sage.com/blog/; also missing the heading picture, but it has the text.
However, the site I was originally having problems with; http://isiopolis.com/about/; comes out correct now. The pdf is: About Isiopolis _ Isiopolis.pdf
I tried to upload a zip files with the samples, but it won't let me.
You can get the zip file from here: http://gwsystemsdns.net/files/Samples.zip

  • Saving as a PDF-saves what's outside the workspace

I'm using Illustrator CS....that might be my first problem haha. Anyway, when I try to save a .pdf version of my file, it ALWAYS saves including whatever is OUTSIDE the workspace area....Like instead of saving, say, the 8.5x11" document that I worked in, if I have something hanging outside of that space, it saves like a 12x11" document instead.
Is there any way to get the .pdf to be ONLY what is inside the workspace? I have some things that have to be hanging out over the edges...so I can't just move it all inside the workspace.
    Thanks for any help!

Make a box allowing for bleed area past the art board
