PDF shows different security setting in Acrobat 8 and 9

Hi,
I have acrobat PDF document.    While it opens using Acrobat 8 STD,
users are allowed to delete pages, but if using Acrobat 9 STD, users are
NOT allowed to delete pages.
In the security properties, Acrobat 8 shows changing in document allowed.  but in Acrobat 9, changing in doc is not allowed.
Is it by designed or something went wrong?
Regards,
Han Lim

Can you post a link to the document?

  • PDF shows different or no color

I have Received a PDF in EMail.  The sender shows different colors on some of the pages.  Diagrams and charts sometime appear black and white.  Verified we are looking at the same email attachment.  Using Adobe Acrobat Writer 10 Pro and Reader 10 - same results with either.
It was created with a MAC and is being viewed on a PC.

    Hi dniebanck,
Please go to Acrobat > Edit > Preferences > Accessibility and see if  'Replace Document Colors' option is checked.
If yes, then uncheck the option and see.

  • Creating pdfs from different file types (.doc,.xls etc) and merging them into a single pdf with book

    Hi,
I need to create a pdf from 2 different file formats, for example .doc and .xls file and merge the contents of the two files into a single pdf. Also the final pdf created must contain bookmarks and links. Thanks in advance.

You can do this on the desktop using the Acrobat SDK as a custom plugin.
You can do this on a server with Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator.

  • Opening a pdf from a link in another pdf shows always security warning

The problem occuers every time in the same document, even if i put "remember this action for this site for all PDF documents" with ALLOW.
In a PDF i have links to other PDF's and for every link i get the same Security Warning.
I put the mark on "Remember this action for this site for all PDF documents" wit ALLOW
Next time I open same document, i get the same Security Warning.
How can I make this security warning dissapear?
Why doesn't it take my command for the next time
We use Windows 7 and the newest Adobe Reader 11.0
    Thanks for helpful feedback

Hi same problem here but only on Windows 7 in Acrobat Reader. Full Acrobat on Windows and Mac ok, and Reader on Mac works fine too. I've got a pdf with links to other pdfs. On windows I have to click 'Allow' each time I reopen the document. Very annoying, especially that Mac versions seems to work just fine. Tom

  • Preview pdf shows different borders/ top and bottom

in iphoto, made a book, the preview pdf is not matching the book created, in a way that some top and bottom borders are NOT bleeding off the page, however in the iphoto book layout the entire photo is bleeding off the page. any ideas on pdf? I'm wondering if the pdf is showing the trim and bleed crops.

    Hi,
Thanks for the advice. Here's the latest with my 'black borders top and bottom in iMovies' problem:
I found out that if I converted the .VOB files into .DV files (using MPEG Streamclip) instead of converting them to Quicktime files, then when I import these .DV files into iMovies the black borders are no longer there. So it seems like the problem was something to do with Quicktime files in iMovies.
But then there was another problem:
After waiting quite a while for MPEG Streamclip to finish it's work of converting the .VOB files into .DV files, and then waiting a bit longer to import the .DV files into iMovies, I was ready to work on editing the clips. But whenever I added either a fade in or fade out to a clip, I saw that during the time of the fade in or out, the picture was all distorted with thin vertical lines running through the entire picture.
So I had to do more trouble shooting:
I went back to MPEG Streamclip to have a little play around in there. When I made the .DV files before I used the compressor setting DVC Pro 50, so I changed this to the DVC Pro 25. I made a short .DV clip using this compressor and tried it out in iMovies and there was no problem with the vertical line distortion. Just to make sure I made another small .DV clip using DVC Pro 50 as before, imported that into iMovies and again, during the fade in/out effects this distortion came back again. So it seems like I sorted that problem out too.

  • Same pdf shows different colors than in photoshop

    Hi,
I´m new to Acrobat, I work with Mac-support basically. I have a client that complaints that colors är not identical in Acrobat, compared to when he opens the same pdf file in Photoshop or in Illustrator. All applications are latest versions of CC and the run on a Mac Pro with Yosemite 10.10.2.
Color settings in Photoshop saved and imported into Illustrator. It looks identical. But not in Acrobat. Is there not a way to import color settings from Photoshop into Acrobat? Or what can be the reason?
Many thanks in advance, remember I´m a newbie...

  • How can I use a different scroll setting for my mouse and my track pad?

I'd like to be able to hook a mouse up to Macbook Air and have it scroll properly, without breaking the scroll direction on its trackpad (or my magic pad). In other words, I want to disable "Move content in the direction of finger movement when scrolling" for mice, and enable "Scroll direction: natural" for trackpads. These seem to be the same setting, though, as checking/unchecking one has the same effect on the other.
How can I do this, as I'd love to be able to easily switch to a mouse, without having to mentally reverse the direction of the scroll wheel.

    Go to System>Preferences>Mouse>Point & Click and System>Preferences>Trackpad>Scroll & Zoom.
The each have their own scroll directions setting.
I use both a mouse and a trackpad and have the exact settings you're looking for.

  • I am using apple mail on my Mac and have two different accounts set up, one personal and one business. when i send mail a copy of the message is being saved into my business account swell.

Both accounts are Imap but the business one is Gmail and the persoanl one is 1and1. when i compose new mail in my personal account I make sure it says its going from my 1and1 account but for some reason the message appears in both sent boxes.
I need to fix this as I dont want other people using the business account seeing my personal sent emails!
This has only just started in last couple of days when I did something on accounts but cant think what that would have been.
    hope someone can help.

I'd like to have one Apple Mail application for my one very important email account while the rest can stay on a different Apple Mail app.
Consider using Thunderbird for the "rest."

  • Pages show differently in FF 3.5.3 and IE 7

    Hi,
Since the first ever DW, I haven't had too much trouble with the different displays of a site by FF and IE however ...
I have a client who wants everything to be exact in both browsers and I am having great difficulty achieving this.
I understand without seeing the differences, one can't be explicit in giving answer, however what I am doing is not on line yet.
Are there overall basic reasons why things will look different even though they look fine in the workspace.
This way at least I can go check these basics.
Or does one have to actually see what I have done?
Sorry to be frugal with details, but if needed I will upload some pages.
    Thanks
    oz  :-)

Differences in Browser rendering  makes this almost impossible to achieve within pixel perfect precision.  Forms are probably the biggest challenge for web designers because they  look totally different in Safari, IE and FF...
That said, there are some things you can do to get your pages on a nearly level playing field -- everything John already told you, plus a couple more.
    Add this to your CSS:
/** zeros out default browser values on everything**/
    * {margin:0; padding:0; border:0; line-height:100%}
    html,body {font-size:100%; height:100.2%; margin-bottom:1px; /**adds scrollbar in Mozilla**/}
    /**For IE only**/
    *body {font-size:76%; zoom: 1;}
The following basic page looks pretty similar in all the major browsers. But if you look close enough, you will find subtle differences.

If everyone used the exact same browser and settings,   web design would be too easy.

  • How do I set the compatiblity security setting to always be Acrobat X or later

I upgraded to version XI. In version X, the Options/Compatibility was located at the top. In version XI, they moved it to the bottom. I like my compatibility to be Acrobat X and later for Encryption Level 256-bit AES. However, since they moved it to the bottom, if I add the password to open the document (Document Open), then add the Permissions to restrict editing, printing, etc. and then go to the Options and change the Compatibility to Acrobat X and later, it wipes out the Document Open and Permissions passwords and I have to go back and add them again. Why this was moved to the bottom is beyond me, but I find it extremely frustrating. Please advise how I can have Compatibility set on Acrobat X and later all the time or move Options back to the top without having to uninstall XI and replace it with version X. Thank you.

From the menu bar select Tools-Account settings
    Click on the problem account.
Do you have something in the '''Reply To''' field?
    If so delete it.
You only need that field if you want the reply to go to a different email address than the one you are sending from.
No menu bar showing? Press the alt key to make it appear.

Not really, but for some settings there is a workaround... ->

For THIS setting, it definitely does NOT work. The profile path must be
known BEFORE the user is logged on and this means BEFORE any user
    specific settings can be processed.

  • Can't print .indd booklet to PDF; opens print utility instead of Acrobat

Thanks in advance for any help you can lend.
I have a 16 page .indd document that I'm trying to export via "print booklet", using Adobe PDF 9.0 as my printer. Every time I try to print as a PDF, it goes through the process of compiling the images, loading fonts, etc., but then my printer utility opens (obviously giving an error) instead of Acrobat. When I just choose export as PDF I have no issues whatsoever; Acrobat opens and it saves properly. I need the document, though, in a saddle stitch imposed format for the printer.

I'm a Windows user, so I may not have this exactly right, but printing to PDF from Print Booklet on Mac is a two-step process -- first you printto Postscript file using the Acrobat 9 ppd, then you distill the file.
