PDF tab locked in Mozilla- Solaris

Hello,
I have an issue with the PDF tabs opened in Mozilla, We use Solaris 10 s10s_u4wos_12b SPARC and Adobe Reader 7 for Solaris.
When a PDF file is open in Mozilla Firefox, the PDF tab appear to be locked. The PDF file can be seen and scroll up and down but navigation to other tabs is not possible.
Can somebody help with suggestions and/or possible solutions?

Hello John,
Which browser are you using to view PDF files? Also, to investigate the 'degraded graphic icons' issue, could you please share the PDF file you're trying to view (or share the link to the PDF file if it's online somewhere). You can send me an email at gaurav at adobe dot com.
When your tab is locked, do you have a dialog box opened on that tab? If possible, could you share a screenshot of the problem at the time the tab is locked.
Thanks,
Gaurav

  • I can't use touchpad scrolling in webpage tabs when a PDF tab is open in Firefox 4

When using Firefox 4, if I have a PDF open in a tab (using the Adobe Reader 9 plugin, whatever the latest update was), I can't use my touchpad scroll in other tabs until I close the PDF tab. I can scroll fine in the PDF tab. This is on a HP laptop, the touchpad is made by Synaptics. Did not notice this problem in Firefox 3.6.

I have this problem and have found a bug:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=626813
If you have this problem, please comment on the bug with your OS version (Windows 7 64-bit, for example, or Windows XP, 32-bit) and who makes your touchpad (Device Manager -> Mice -> "Touchpad Maker" Touchpad).

  • I have problem when opening a pdf page, my mouse control is hijacked to that tab when im on other tab, i cant scroll or use the middle rollling button, i have to click at the pdf tab then my control over the mouse middle button is restored.

I think I have this problem even on earlier version. The thing is I set open link in new tab and not switch over to the opened tab. My habit is to open a pdf page in the background and let it load first. What happen is that when the pdf page finished loading ( i do not set to download it), it hijacks my middle mouse button control. When i scroll down or scroll up on my original tab, it wont scroll on the tab, but insttead it scrolls on the pdf tab. I have to click on the pdf tab, then i can use the scrolling function on other tabs back. As for when i opened several pdf tabs, it seems i have to click on the tab that just finished loading, that means several times until they all finish loading. It has been getting on my nerve lately. And all pdf trouble i search from google led to unable to open pdf, firefox hang or crash when opening a pdf and the likes.

core-el, i don't see the advantage of that or i can't figure out how i'm supposed to use it. for starters, i have to click the mouse in order to get "add bookmark here" to open, which is no different than clicking on the star in the location bar, or right-clicking on the page. there are also options in the bookmarks toolbar, but they all require clicking the mouse & holding down the right button, etc.
my goal is to use keystrokes only. typing on the keyboard, using both hands, using the space bar & my left pinky finger to tab over are all painless routines for me. as soon as i have to take my fingers off the keyboard & use the mouse, the pain begins.
as i said, in older versions of firefox, all i had to do to bookmark a page was click ctrl>d, then tab over & arrow down, when appropriate, to find the folder & add the bookmark. for me, as a touch-typist whose speed is between 60 & 80 wpm, this is lightning fast.
if i have this wrong, please correct me. i just see it as more mouse clicks that don't save me time or pain.

  • Preview PDF tab unavailable on Designer 9 with Reader 9

    Hello,
I just begin learning LifeCycle and I have a problem viewing the preview PDF tab in the designer.
The problemlooks the the same as discribed ther : http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331391.html
But, I checked the solution and the check box they suggest to check is already checked.
    Can someone help me ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
In this situation it sometimes helps to open Reader (or Acrobat) first AND THEN open LC Designer.
Not a full solution. If you search the forum, people have proposed more robust solutions.
    Good luck,

  • Why is the PDF tab missing?

    Hello!
I have created some PDF files and tagged them using the Document Properties dialog box of Acrobat X Pro (File> Properties). But when I view the properties of the file in Windows, I don't see these tags in the Details tab. Searching for help on the Adobe website I found a reference to a PDF tab. This tab is supposed to appear in the native file properties dialog of Windows. But I don't see this tab when I view the file properties of a PDF file. Why?
The only reason to tag a document, from my perspective, is to make it searchable. I want to be able to easily search and find my PDF files with given tags. But how do you do a system wide file search if the PDF tag information is not read or supported by Windows, and it's not added by the Adobe software? For the record, I am using Windows Vista.
You can also enter and read the data properties information from the desktop. Right-click the document in Windows Explorer, choose Properties, and click the PDF tab. Any information you type or edit in this dialog box also appears in the Document Properties Description when you open the file.
If I manage to get this feature enabled, will I be able to do a search for *.pdf in Windows Explorer and maybe select the tag invoice so that I will get all the PDF files that are tagged as invoice? Or will I need a dedicated document management system for this?

    I give up!
I found this old thread. But it's just all too overwhelming for my taste. I have read it, but I don't know how relevant the information is anyway. I mean, come on, the thread is from 2009! How relevant is all of this in 2013 and now that Adobe has released Acrobat X Pro, and now even Acrobat XI Pro? And the Acrobat Reader is no longer Acrobat Reader, the name has changed to Adobe Reader.
Copy this and that, edit this and that registry key or string, take the DLL from the old version of the software and copy it to the directory of the new software... it's all redundant and silly! What are we... hacking now?
A simple feature like this should work out of the box! Period! I have given up on this completely. It is absolutely not worth my time. I have no intention to start messing around with DLL files, Windows registry keys, COM class objects, and what not. I'm not here to develop a new breed of the Adobe Acrobat product. I am only interested in using it to perform my daily tasks. If there are no simple ways to resolve the issue, well so be it. It should not be harder than giving simple help instructions, like giving some pointers such as "make sure you reinstall the software".
And for the record, yes, I have reinstalled Adobe Reader by downloading the latest version from Adobe website. After reboot I also ran the Updater for Adobe Acrobat X Pro, it found a new version, downloaded and installed it. All that to no avail. The problem still remains. I did not reinstall Adobe Acrobat X Pro because I don't want to. I have no intention to screw up a perfectly working system, program setup and configuration, just to get a simple function like this to work properly.
I don't know if this feature ever worked for me, or if it stoped working recently. Because I only started using this feature recently. But I'm pretty confident to say that it never worked. I look at my file properties every now and then, and I think I would have noticed a "PDF" tab appearing out of nowhere. I can tell something's different with a dialog window when there is a change like that. And I know I had the "PDF" tab back in Windows XP, so I'm not completely unfamiliar with it. I know what it is, but it's just isn't there anymore.
Also, in my experience, there is alwys some kind of conflict that arises between Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Pro. The moment you install them both, some PDF related features you previously had are lost. The most famous one is perhaps the preview handler in Outlook. It always seemed as if the Acrobat Reader was always better integrated into a Windows system than the Acrobat Pro version. The Acrobat Pro was and is still more productivity oriented, while the Acrobat Reader always made sure you had those previews in Outlook, and it also integrated well with Explorer or Windows Shell. Acrobat Pro always managed to somehow screw up that integration, and I mean it's beyond file type association. So it's best to not have them both (but things like preview is only available in the Reader version).
Adobe needs to make better software and then everything will be much easier. It seems to me that this "feature" has been deprecated by Adobe. So even though you might have the correct registry keys and DLL files onboard, they are not being used anyway.

  • Preview show all attachment (pdf) as locked

just i want to ask about why (preview.app) show all attachment (pdf) as locked and when you want to unlocked press in the top of file to open it , why there is some step to do this ,not like before in snow leopard. and how i install old preview to work on it in side Mac lion ox????

I have Brother Control Center3 and if I click the "Configuration" button in Control Center and then click on the type of scan (e.g., image, file, ocr, etc) there is a window where I can select the file type of the output, the application that opens with the document after the scan and the ability to adjust a number of other settings.  I suspect that this was similar in earlier versions but if not you can likely download a later version from the Brother support site.

  • PC has Adobe 8 Pro, Adobe 9 Reader, cannot edit PDF tab in Properties

    Hey all,
I have a user with the above configuration.  Even though I told windows to open pdfs with the adobe 8 pro, the PDF tab in properties after right clicking the file is grayed out and cannot be edited, just like a pc with only reader on it.
Any way around this without uninstalling adobe 9 reader?

Basically, no. It isn't recommended nor supported to have both Reader and Acrobat on the same Windows system. You've discovered one of the many reasons why.

  • Problems with the "Create a PDF" tab

I have a customer who is trying to create a pdf from Word using the "create a pdf" tab.  The PDF is created but only the colored boxes behind his text show up.  He is running Win7, Word 2010 and Acrobat Pro XI (with the latest update). The same thing happens if he uses the "print to pdf" option.  The Word "Save as pdf" works fine.
    Word Document (image below)
    PDF (image below)

It appears to be some sort of incorrect layering issue. You can fix the problem by selecting the Edit Text & Images command in Acrobat XI and right clicking on the boxes and selecting the Arrange command.
I've seen this issue occur with older .doc files opened in newer versions of Word. One thing you might try is to save out the word file to another format like RTF (make a backup first) and then resave a .docx before creating the PDF.

  • Error Message in Word  Convert To PDF Tab

I am gettting an Error Message in Word  Convert To PDF Tab
The pop up box comes up when I am in Word 2003 , it says "Unabkle To Find PDFresource files, you must be an adminstrator to install these files
So I cannot create a PDF file when in Word 2003
When I go to Acrobat  9.0 and try to create from a file , choose the word file, it says it is creating it- but nothing happens, its like it's not loading.
    I am on a PC

Can you print to the Adobe PDF printer (I suspect you can not)? Are you logged in as the administrator? Can you find any of the job settings files? If the latter is the case, then you likely do not have permissions set to allow you to read the folder that has all the job settings. If you are not the administrator, you will have to get the administrator to find the folder (it is in one of the document and settings folders under Adobe for XP and under the Users (I think) on Win7) and grant you access.

  • Preview PDF Tab Doesn't Work

I have two installations of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro / LiveCycle Designer.  The preview tab doesn't work on either installation for LiveCycle Designer.
My first machine is running XP Pro SP3 32-bit. When I click on the Preview PDF tab it previews, but I can't enter data into the fields when working on a static or dynamic pdf.
The other machine is running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.  When I click on the Preview PDF tab it the machine tries to open the preview up in Adobe Reader, but never actually opens.
What should I check?  Is there something I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Andy

I don't have the Windows 7 machine in front of me to test this on, but the XP machine behaves the same if I open up Reader or Acrobat before I click Preview PDF in LiveCycle.
