PDF Thumbnails disapear after installed CS3 on XP-Vista

here is the problem, we have adobe reader on all our computer in the company, we are a printing company so PDF is the file of choice in our workflow. we have CS-CS3 installed on XP,Vista and 2003(automation server)
Everyone who has only Reader installed can see thumbnails in explorer XP and Vista of the PDF.
Problem is in the Prepress dept where CS3 is installed, As soon as CS3 gets installed on XP or Vista the Thumbnails stop working. (never worked on the mac osX but not an issue 3rd party software fixed that)
Why? if they worked before CS3 when only reader was installed..
Did Adobe disable PDF thumbnails as soon as you install the Creative Suite. Is this an Issue with just my company? lol
This is really a user complaint I have to deal with every day from employees in Prepress. "Why Can't I see a preview of the file in explorer before I open them"
I hear that it was because Psicon.dll and aiicon.dll were taken out due to problems... but why does it work with only reader installed which doesn't use those?
any ideas? I think If I keep hearing them complain I'll make em all use Scribus and inkscape for a week. hehe.

The thumbnails on my vista system are also not showing properly. It is very strange because I do have a SINGLE sole thumbnail of a pdf file displaying properly but the rest of my pdf files are all generic red acrobat icon. I am determined to get to the bottom of this as I have tons of ebooks and pdf files that I need to view in thumbnail format.
The roxio forum were also talking about loosing thumbnails in vista's explorer. The techs there claim its a vista problem and will wait till MS addresses the issues. However, I am not completely convinced.
The fact that we seen it work partially with some systems and the fact that I can generate a single thumbnail tells me there is more to it than meets the eye.
I suspect a registry tweak will solve all the problems.
Here's what I found so far.
On my XP system the thumbs works perfectly.
In the taskmanager I noticed that there is an auxiliary component
to acrobat that runs along side with the main executable;
"AcroRd32Info.exe" this file is what causes explorer to generate the thumbnails and is triggered only when the mouse hovers over an acrobat file.
With Vista Biz, I noticed that in taskmanager the AcroRd32Info.exe is missing. When I attempt to manually run this file, it fails to run with no error message. So my next guess is that some service might be blocking the exe from running or got disable during some tweaking.
I have another system that is identical to mine and brand new. I will test further. If someone can verify if AcroRd32Info.exe runs in there vista taskmanager and see the thumbnails appears or not that would be great.

Fix the: Cannot view PDFs in Safari Window after installing CS3

All,
To fix the problem of displaying PDF files in Safari after installing CS3.
Open Adobe Acrobat 8 and then go to the preference menu, on the left hand side look for internet, select this option and then UNCHECK the options to use to open PDFs.
Apply and quit Adobe Acrobat 8. Quit Safari if still running and then reopen. What Safari does now is use the default settings and will open the PDFs as before.

If it's not essential that the Adobe plugin handles PDF files then try turning off the plugin support via Adobe Reader preferences -> Internet -> Unselect the option to handle PDF files (sorry, I'm not on a Mac to quote the exact text but it's words to that effect).
If no other plugins handle PDFs, Safari should pick up the slack and handle them natively.

.pdf Thumbnails disappear when installing Acrobat Pro 9

Since i have installed Acrobat Pro 9 the .pdf Thumbnails in Windows Explorer won't show up when i choose the the normal Adobe Reader 9 for standard opening .pdf Files (which i do because its faster). I'm using Win7 32bit are there any suggestions ? this is really a bad bug in my mind.

You can try this. Not sure if this will definitly help but I hope this should:
Delete the following preferences folders:
      a) ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
      b) ~/Library/Caches/Acrobat/
      c) ~/Library/Caches/Acrobat/
      d) ~/Library/Preferences/Acrobat Distiller Prefs
      e) ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/
Here ~ represents your home directory. Empty your trash, Restart the machine and then start the Acrobat.

Scanning PDF to computer after installing windows 10 not working

Equipment: Pavilion 23 and HP Officejet 6600 (all in one) After installing Windows 10 the printer/scanner can not send (scan to computer) a PDF. The HP 6600 screen DOES show the computer under the "Scan to" list then once pressed it briefly says "accessing computer" with the HP logo and a spinning thing around it, then the next screen shows a list of options for document format (PDF is the first one and the one I regularly used before Windows 10). Choosing "Save as PDF" brings up a "Confirm Start Scan" screen, pressing "Start Scan" brings up "Prepairing to scan" with the HP logo and spinning thingy again then the next screen, "Scan Unsuccessful" and below that "The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues - Connection to the computer is lost - The scan application on the computer is currently in use - OCR application is not installed on the computer - See the computer monitor for details" no details are on the monitor? I have tried the solutions listed here like S**/scannow (DOS ADMIN level, 100% ok) , also the "dependent settings" I know this is a Windows 10 issue because it (the HP 6600) has worked flawlessly until this "Upgrade". Yes, I uninstalled the driver, yes I downloaded HP docotor, I have tried everyting on this forum and then some (i think?)please helpthank you for your wisdom OH great one(s) Other than this A huge thumbs up to Windows 10!!!! Problem exporting PDF from Crystal after installing BO BI Client Tools

Hi there, I am running Crystal Reports 2011 and after installing SAP BusinessObjects BI platform 4 Client Tools Crystal reports crashes when I try to export a report as a PDF. I have reinstalled Crystal from scratch twice, the second time even cleaning the registry before installing with no success. Any ideas?

You would have to uninstall the current version and then install one of the 4.0 versions. The issue is that your client tools version should really be exactly the same as your version of BO. If you run into any issues and have to open a support case, the first thing SAP will have you do is upgrade the Client Tools.
Another option that you have would be to upgrade to the latest SP of Crystal 2011 and see if that makes a difference.
Also, anything that was written in CR 2011 will run fine in CR 2013 - there weren't really any features added in 2013, just the name was changed, so the two are basically interchangeable.

After installing cs3 on windows 7 i lose internet connectivity

I install cs3 and everything goes fine... I can open programs and they work, but it shuts down my Internet connection! i can still see my local network but no Internet. when i uninstall cs3 my connection returns straight away.... adobes answer to this was give us £550 to upgrade!! what a joke!!! I'am running win 7 pro 32bit

before i installed i run ipconfig....

it all works fine, the cs3 installed and all programs work! however when i restart my machine i lose the internet.

its seems cs3 affects dynamic ip's, so i set a static IP, restarted my machine and now everything works fine!!!!!

Uninstall CS2 after installing CS3 -- any gotchas?

I have just installed PS-CS3(upgrade) under WinXPsp2 and would like to uninstall CS2 now. Will this create any problems with PS-CS3?

Thanks for the advice. I have been using Focus Magic. Mask Pro 4.1, and DxO. Now I am interested in Image Ready, so will check it out.
It was probably not wise to leave CS2 sit there while installing CS3 since I have many Lightroom Databases that have Preferences set for opening CS2 when editing an image outside of the program, but these all seem to have been automatically reset to CS3, at least for the first choice of two designated applications.
I wonder if I have missed an Adobe site that iterates such possible conflicts and consequences of installing CS3 without uninstalling CS2?
I have reached an age where reading software manuals is not my idea of a good time, my current copy of CS3 sitting here for 6 months before installation because I knew i would have to deal with these kinds of issues.

Help installing CS3 on my Vista computer

I just purchased a new laptop this week and I need to install CS3 on it. Now I have the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium edition with student licensing. I have this software installed on my other PC with XP on it and it worked just fine. When I put the disc in to install on my new laptop, the AutoPlay feature comes up asking me what I want to do with the product, but install CS3 is not an option. The options that are listed are Import Pictures, View Pictures, Create Disc or Edit Image, Make a muvee with photos, and of course open folder to view files. I tried opening the folder and finding the Adobe CS3 folder but there is not just a folder marked 'Adobe CS3'. I typed setup.exe in the run command but it was not a valid request so nothing happened. When I open the folder I see Documentation, Goodies, and Creative Suite 3 Web Premium Read Me. I cannot navigate through the files and find anything to click on that would make me thing that it would install the suite.
It has been a while since I installed this on my other PC, so I am not exactly sure I remember how it went when installing. I was just wondering if maybe this is something that can be easily remedied. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I feel like a genius now haha. I see what the problem was. I guess upon installing my software on my PC in the past I put the paper that is inside the case with the coupon code on top of the side that had the application install CD and I never saw it until this evening since I didn't move the paper. It was hidin from me. I appreciate the help though.

Cores, how many are supported by After FX CS3 on win vista?

do you know how many cores are supported by after fx CS3?
I am able to use a dual xeon quadcore workstation with 8 cores and 24 GB Ram for my diploma, but I don't know if this hardware is supported by CS3?
It is the Xeon 5355 Quad Core 2,67 Ghz on dual 771 socket mainboard from Tyan. The OS is Win Vista Premium 64bit.
Does anyone of you have further information if this is doable?

Each instance of AE can only access a maximum of 4 GB of RAM (on Vista64). With the "Render multiple frames simultaneously" option in the preferences, AE CS3 and later can start several hidden copies of itself in the background, which can each address that maxmium amount of RAM, so your machine would ideally use 5 processor cores (5 x 4 = 20 GB and leave 4 GB for the OS.)
In CS4 you can set the number of cores to use, in CS3 you have to do it via a text file, detailed in this post:

PDFs are blurry after installing Win8.1

I just installed Windows 8.1 and now all of my PDF's are blurry when I open them in reader. Is there a solution that I should know?

In case your settings restrict Netflix's ability to set cookies or use local storage, you could simulate default settings by opening it in a private window while you're in Firefox's Safe Mode. That should let sites run normally but discard their cookies and local data after you close the private window.
You can open a private browsing window using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+p
* File menu > New Private Window
* orange Firefox button > New Private Window

PDF thumbnails missing after optimization?

Hello. I have quite an urgent question. My business is sending out a PDF deck tomorrow and I am currently creating our PDF using 'Combine files into PDF' method in Acrobat Pro on Mac - default size compression.
When I finish creating the PDF (not optimized), all the pages are present. However, for the sake of sending the PDF in emails, I need to either Save As an Optimized PDF or Save As a Reduced Size PDF. I will be sending an Optimized PDF, but in both cases, as soon as Acrobat finishes creating the smaller PDF, I have page thumbnails missing/blank in the same places every time (pages 1, 5 and 33).
I have attached screenshots to this thread as an example. It's very odd, because the majority of people I've tested the PDF with say they have no issues with blank pages and that all pages appear fine in the PDF - both when viewing on computer and mobile devices, iPads etc. For me personally, the only issue with blank pages is when opening the PDF in 'View' mode - if I download the complete file there are no pages missing.
I was wondering if anyone can help me resolve this issue - I just don't want to risk sending this out to clients and some being unable unable to view certain pages in the PDF!!

After migrating, the iPhoto library appeared in the Library window in my left task pane of Aperture. I believe that the masters for the photos from iPhoto remained in iPhoto.
When I did the migration from my Time Capsule I pulled in my iPhoto Library and Aperture Library into my Pictures folder. Then I launched Aperture and everything looked great, except the thumbnails. The folder / project structure remained and both libraries were there. The pictures are actually there too. If I work on a single photo, the photo appears, but the thumbnails don't when viewing at a higher level such as a folder, project or all Photos.

Browser Header disapears after installing itunes 10.1.1.4

I have installed the latest version of itunes 10.1.1.4 and now the browser header has disapeared from the screen.
When I try to re-establish through VIEW, Column Browser, On Top. All tracks now roll off the screen and across itunes header, when using On Left all genres are there, but it just won't appear on top.
I have re-installed itunes, but makes no difference.
Any thoughts on rectification would be much appreciated

about a month ago now i tried to update my ipod but when i plugged it in it said that i needed to reinstall itunes as something had gone wrong.
So i went to the apple site and downloaded the latest version of iTunes.
Since then i have not had iTunes on my computer
i've had a million troubles trying to get it back and its really frustrating!
The latest problem i receive when trying to install itunes is windows error 7.
I have followed all other guidance about removing all traces of iTunes and what not, and i've just followed your last step of deleting those two files you mentioned above.
Please please please help me get iTunes back!

Bootcamp disapeared after installing Yosemite - jorditj

Maybe you can change your indications adding these image to the instructions to be more easy:
Place EFI GPT (0xEE) partition first in MBR (good for GRUB)? (Y/N): Y

Enter an MBR hex code (default AF): Press Enter/Return
Set the bootable flag? (Y/N): N
Creating entry for GPT partition #3 (MBR partition #3)

Installed CS3 with windows vista bit AE won't open.

When my old faithful computer motherboard fried, I had to get a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I had CS3 loaded and working without a glich on my old XP computer.
I've loaded the whole CS3 suite, but when I open After Effects nothing happens. Using Window's Task Manager, under "Applications" After Effects doesn't show up as a running but under "Processes" the file "AfterFX.exe *32" is listed as running.
I've also tried uninstalling CS3 and reinstalling it in the directory "Program Files" rather than in the directory "Program Files (x86)" and nothing changed.
I've tried to opening all the other programs in CS3 with the similar results. Nothing opens, but their .exe files are listed under Task Managers "Processes".
I'm using this as a vol lic product, so I'm not sure how much tech support I can get.

One thing I thought was weird was that the software version on my computer for the motherboard was version 6.xx (whatever) and the software I downloaded from the HP web was version 5.xx (whatever). It made it work though..
I think the update would be on the HP site, not the MSI site. Go to hp.com, downloads, and put in the name of your computer. Download/install whatever motherboard software they have. If that doesn't work, go to the adobe website and search for the document kb402213 and work through that. It's what the person you give Adobe $40 to help you is going to do.
