PDF to epub

I have some issue when convert .PDF to ePub,when I sync to my iPad there're some white blank pages. How do I delete those pages?

Converting PDF to epub can be a painful task. Depending on your conversion tool(s), you might try to tweak with different settings. To get a perfect epub, you should export the pdf to rtf or word.doc, then open and edit it with a text processor. Acrobat generates a lot of different style formats, so you have to clean them up and remove blank pages.
Often, you have to deal with page numbers, that are unwanted in eBooks. There is a free tool called 'briss' available on the web, that lets you crop the pages within the pdf file, so you can cut off the area with the page numbers before you export the file.
My preferred text processor ist Atlantis, that lets you save a text document directly as epub file. A direct converter from pdf to epub is Calibre, that also has a lot of converter options. However, without manual rework, the result might not be satisfactoring.
A tool that lets you directly edit epub files is Sigil - however it is very cumbersome and slow.

  • Is there a way to create a iTunes U feed using .pdf  or .epub files using a Podcast Producer 2 backend?

I'm in the process of creating an iTunes U site for my university.  We are in the process of activating an Xserve running Snow Leopard and Podcast Producer 2 to server as a backend and trying to figure out how to create various workflows and feeds for populating both the Public SIte Manager "public site"  and the authenticated "private site".   So far, I have not found any information regrading how to upload .pdfs or .epub documents using Podcast Composer or Podcast Capture.   Is this possible?

It depends where you extract the file to. If you extract it to your home directory so you can examine it's content, there's no problem -- it's just a static file. If you're extracting it over the existing file (in this case /etc/fstab), then you may end up screwing up permissions/ownership.
I've not experimented with redirection enough to know whether the original file's permissions are preserved.
maybe a chmod fix if needed?
So I am having a problem because it keeps saying fstab might be a file and when I query I do not see the package /file. So help me understand by this similar question.
    This works fine.
    # pacman -S iw wpa_supplicant
but using query does not find any package that resembles iw wpa_supplicant
    # pacman -Q
Nothing in the list resembles the package above. It seems to me I just do not understand repositories (I think that is what these are called).
Is there a good link or article that can clear this up? Also... how can I find out how to query files that contain certain characters in the package name such as lib* or *lib*?

  • I successfully convert a pdf into ePub and it can be read by iBooks. However on second run, all my converted epubs are not readable in iBooks! What went wrong?

I used Xilisoft PDF to EPUB Converter 1.0.4 by the way. I will understand if none of them is not working, but what really puzzled me is the fact the first conversion works, but not the rest. I had check all the settings, all the same.

True to that, I was not bothered until I realised my both pdf shelf is terribly cluttered while the Books shelf are empty, so I was thinking to put Western comics in the PDF shelf while the Japanese comics in Books shelf.
I finally decided to post questions here after I went through researches on troubles with epubs which sometimes are malfunction due to wrong coding of the epubs and itunes/ipad will not read those certain codes. I was very curious on that.

  • From PDF to ePub

    Hi everybody!
I was  wondering if now, February 2011, there's a tool which can convert PDF  files into ePub format without all the mess caused by, e.g., Calibre.
    Thank you very much!

Probably, I was told some compagnies in madagascar could convert PDF to epub based on
outputed XML from Acrobat. Don't know more.

  • Pdf and epub files

I loaded pdf and epub files from my local library and dragged and dropped into itunes and then sync'd. The issue is that the epub book won't open in ibooks and the pdf's are blank. Can someone help. Just got the ipad and not sure if I've missed a step.

Electronic material from the library usually has DRM and isn't compatible with the iPad yet.

  • Need to secure a PDF or Epub for sale on my site?

Can someone please give me the correct process for securing my info product in Adobe.
I want to sell a PDF or Epub document with color pictures through my site and need to
protect it as well.  I will be using paypal and they need a specific url to redirect the buyers to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the license key with the Windows 7 upgrade disk? If so you should be able to use it to format and reinstall.

  • Convert pdf to epub

Trying to convert a pdf file to ePub to read on iPad and eventually upload to the Apple store. I have tried Calibre, Wondershare (paid version) and pdf to epub converter. I also have the native inDesign file used to create the pdf and tried exporting it as an ePub file. Of course it worked but when viewed on the iPad, the formatting was off. Every ePub file I have created has had formatting issues when viewed on the iPad. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

What George said is right, you will get much better results from ID > EPUB if you prep the file a bilt in ID, and if you make some tweaks in the resulting EPUB files.
In addition to Liz's boks, you might check out the video tutorials I've done on lynda.com for this, called InDesign CS to ePub and the iPad. There are 3 diff. titles, one each for InDesign CS4, CS5, and CS.5. Working on another for CS6. Here's the link to the CS5.5 one: http://j.mp/lynda_cs55epub
it's a subscription site ($25 for a month) but each of the titles has some free sample videos. Or you can get a free week's trial of the entire site: http://lynda.com/freepass/amconcepcion
Another good place to ask InDesign > EPUB questions (or any epub question) is on Twitter with the #eprdctn hash tag; ebook production folk use that tag. Not sure if you're into Twitter or not, but it's worth it for that alone.

  • Pdf to epub converter

Can anyone suggest me "how to convert the pdf into epub."

you want to convert PDF to ePub?
    I've downloaded an all-powerful converter.
It can convert formats between PDF, Mobi, ePub.
Honestly speaking, how the output file displays is determined by the PDF files, if the PDF's structure is complete and right, the output file will looks perfect.
Now back to the software, you can download it here, the eBook converter is called "Epub Converter".

  • Can you be my paid InDesign phone/email tutor? Help me complete a book as both pdf and epub?

The book is mostly done but persistent puzzles have me stymied. I can pay you via Paypal. I'm working temporarily in the Dominican Republic and can call you on my iPhone; so if you use an iPhone, I believe the calls will be free. Or use email. I can frame my questions clearly and tell you exactly what I've done. Issues include (in pdf as I haven't tried for the epub yet): TOC links don't work; page turn options don't work; how do I get rid of the menus? How do I get the TOC to work as a navigation? How to set up a running header? I need a bailout here! Please somebody help!

While I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone interested from contacting Jenny by sending her a Private Message (I'm going to lock this thread, as is policy on this forum for job solicitiations of this sort), I'd also suggest to Jenny herself that, if she is able to ask her questions as concisely as shes says she can, starting new threads for the questions may get you what you need right here.

  • Pdf to ePub, What program should I use?

I know I can export from InDesign to ePub, but I was handed a .pdf that is 60+ pages and they want it converted to an ePub.
Can this be done with InDesign or some other Adobe program?  I am ussing the Creative Suite.

    Douglas,
It's nice to see you're interested in this.
A different thread popped up the other day (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5565092#5565092) where the person posting wanted something that would be EXACTLY a fixed layout ePub and wanted to know if ID would be right.
Notice down the thread where he is worried that his panels might change position.

  • Converting PDF to EPUB with lots of images

    Greetings everyone,
I am rather new to indesign and e-publishing and trying to get a handle on how to do this properly. I am a professional photographer with years of work and have decided to create a few photo e-books. Not actually how to, but beauty, something like a coffe table photo essay, photo story book. You get the idea,  mainly photos and very little text. So here I am looking to make a ebook without lots of text. I guess mainly the opposite of what most ebooks are? I have created a few of them in indesign cs6 as a pdf and they look great ! I have tried to convert them to epub and what text I do have and or backgrounds go all over the place! obviously i'm doing something wrong! Looking for some  guidence on how to make this work? I have worked with photoshop, premier, after effects since day one of their creation so i do have somewhat of  knowledge in adobe but not for this... thanks !!!
    sincerely
    kevin cable

    Hi laras54426173,
Are you converting via Adobe Reader or the web interface? Do you see the JPEG option when you're logged on to https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf?

  • PDF to epub not converting correctly

After I change my PDF to an epub file, it does not look the same. I have two photos per page in the PDF, and when it converts to epub it shows only one picture per page with double the amount of pages?

I may become a PITA for you, but I think you need to step back and
determine how you started this process.....
.pdf is a file format that's been used for documents for what seems like
forever.  It has many limitations, and for that reason, other formats for
epublications were developed.  Those formats permit more flexibility in
formatting text, illustrations and colors that .pdf does.  Adobe developed
the 'epublication' format (.epub) many years ago, and it's one of the
standards in the industry.  There are very few companies that publish
ebooks that don't have an .epub version available.
I don't know why you chose .pdf format for the ebooks you downloaded.  The
results seem unsatisfactory (!).  You say 'the original format doesn't
work' , but you chose it - perhaps not knowing how limited a .pdf file is,
and on the faith that the NOOK supports .pdf.  Digital Editions does also,
but within limitations, because it does not incorporate all of the features
found in Adobe Reader software (which is designed to handle .pdfs).  So,
there's no telling whether the ebooks you purchased in .pdf are using
features not supported by either the NOOK or Digital Editions - until you
    run into a problem.
This 'feature' problem is compounded by conversions.  You have no idea when
you start whether the program you're going to use will do the job correctly
because you don't know what .pdf features are incorporated in the original
ebook.  Slowly, step by step, we go down the rabbit hole...

  • Linking PDF within ePub

  • Convert PDF to Epub for mac,What can I do?

    Hello,here.
    I have bought a computer in the second-hand market,it is a really good computer.But here is a problem I can't handle.
It is running the MAC system, but I am not familiar with mac.So when I want to convert novels download from Internet with PDF format to Epub,I don't know how to do it.
    Any help?

Calibre is a great application for organizing your eBooks.  It can automatically sort your books by their metadata, and even display their covers in a Coverflow-style viewer.
Calibri makes it simple to read your eBooks in any format you need. It is a project that is in constant development, and updates regularly adding better stability and features.  Whether you want to ready your PDF eBooks on a Sony Reader, Kindle, netbook or Smartphone, your books will now be more accessible than ever.  And with thousands of free PDF eBooks out there, you’ll be sure to always have something to read. But first, you'd better understand the difference between: PDF, ePub and iBook. I have a cookbook that is in pdf format with all the links between recipes and index/contents done. As there are 275 recipes, this took a lot of work.

  • Indesign CS5 crashes trying to export from PDF to epub

I am trying to use Export for command to send a pdf file placed into In Design to epub format.
    The program crashes immeadiately.
The PDF is 120 pp and includes a TOC. The OS is Win 7 Pro.

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you thinking that this PDF will be converted to an EPUB with live text?
It won’t. You will have an epub with 120 JPG images and no TOC at all.
I don’t know why it’s crashing but it doesn’t matter anyway since, I imagine, you are under the false impression that you will get a functional epub doing this.
