PDF too big to email

Hi i need to email mine but it's too big. 5 pages. How can i make it smaller? I tried making it a zip but it's still too big.

Hi, Anne.
I'm sorry that your files are too large.
I see that you have a paid subscription to the CreatePDF service. Can you describe your workflow in a little more detail?
It sounds like you may be converting a 5-page file to PDF using the CreatePDF service, yet your file is still too large. Is that correct? What file type are you converting to PDF? What's the size of the source file vs. the resulting PDF?
Most file types automatically are compressed when you convert them to PDF. For example, PowerPoint files are typically compressed by 50% to 80%. The CreatePDF service cannot do any additional compression. However, Adobe Acrobat has advanced features to further reduce your PDF file size (by downsampling images, unembedding fonts, etc). A trial is of Adobe Acrobat is here.
If you can provide a little more context, we may have some additional ideas.

Has anyone worked out how to change a keynote presentation PDF resolution when preparing for sharing? The file I get is too big to email (6 photos gave me 55mb) as it appears to retain the input resolution of the embedded photos?

If using Acrobat 9 Go To Document>Reduce File size.
If Using Acrobat X or XI to tot he tools sidebar and use Optimize for Web Distribution.
If you do not want to fool witht he pdf in any way then download Adobe Send Now app and use their free service or subscribe for a year for a whopping $29.95.
The free version allows you to upload files upt to 500MB there may be limitis to how many files you can upload it sends an e-mail to the parties you want to download the files and they simply follow the link and it downloads.
The paid version allows you to upload files as large as 2 GB and gives you 20GB of storage. I immediately myself purchased the paid version.
If you hppen to upgrade to the cloud then you get the paid version free.

  • Blank one page pdf too big

Why is my blank (I have deleted the text) one page pdf so big, it's 440KB.
    It contains nothing.

I have the same problem with documents that are not blank- under audit, everything is reasonable, except for huge overhead, which I cannot get rid of.  Tried all the techniques under help.

Don't know what is going on. All of the size is in what is called the Document Overhead. I have not found anyway to remove that aspect. Bill

You can install MAMPon you mac (free web server, no configuration needed).
Put ePub file in Applications/MAMP/htdocs and you can download locally (quicker than Dropbox, Mega, etc...)
    On your iPad's nevigator type:
    http://mac_local-lan_IP:8888/NameOfYourBook.epub
You can see local IP on: System Preferences/Lan or System Preferences/Sharing
iPad and Mac must be in the same lan/wifi network.
    Best regards.

  • Scanned file too big to email

I scanned some papers into a PDF file which came out to over 30mb.  It is too large for me to email.  Is there a way to divide up the file into smaller files.

Or re-scan with a lower resolution.
However, the basic issue is that e-mail is not designed to transfer large data files.  Upload it to a 3rd-party server (e.g. Dropbox or Adobe Sendnow), then send the download link via email.  This also limits the possibility of email attachments getting damaged during the transfer.

You cannot make the files smaller, but you may be able to use the Adobe SendNow service. Look under the File Menu.

  • Livecycle PDFs too big, how can I

    Hi All,
I have made a PDF form which allows users to open in Reader and add text and images.
The form itself is small and usable but as soon as anyone imports an image or two it grows witout compression.
Therefore the resulting PDFs are huge and therefore the whoe idea of someone filling out a PDF and returning it is pointelss as most email won't allow it.
I there any way of setting the output PDF to automatically compress any image that is imported into it?

    Hi,
the imported images get saved as base64-data, which is not very effective to compress data.
You have no opportunity to change this, but you can use a script to check the size of an imported image and warn users if the images are to large.

  • Is this PDF too big and is that why it won't send?

    Hello,
I have an 18 page full color dcoument that is taking forever to
attatch to my email (or it just won't let me send)
There is no message that says it can't send, but it indefinately says
it is still working to send.
It is 44.7MB which sounds very large, and i was wondering if that is
normal for a full color document of this size?
If not, what should I do?

See the following link for a list of places you can post your file for free. They're options are all a little different and some of the suggested sites may be out of date.

  • How to send a Pages document to others? The file is too big for emails.

I want to work the same Pages document with a team. What are the options to be able to send to them to edit back and forth? It's over 25MB and emails don't support large files.

Personally, if this were my team, I would standardize on Office for Mac 2011 update 14.4.7 (latest) and then everyone would be on the same page, without any of the Pages v5 feature deficit, document incompatibility, and productivity drop trying to make simple things work. The Word documents would be substantially smaller, and have better support for team edits.
    Regarding Pages…
Is the entire team on Yosemite, and will be signed into iCloud? If so, you can use Yosemite Mail's new Mail Drop feature which can support up to 5GB files. Read about Mail Drop in this article.
The next challenge is one of file compatibility among Pages users. If you use the default file format (Single File) written by Pages v5.5.1 on Yosemite, it cannot be opened by Pages v5.2.2 or earlier on Mavericks. You must instead, change that File type to Package and save it again. Pages v5.5.1 has File > Advanced > Change File Type, and a choice of Single File (default), or Package. Pages v5 documents originated on Mavericks can be opened in Pages v5.5.1.
If a member of the team is using Pages '09 v4.3, then any work performed in Pages v5 must be first exported to Pages '09 format. Any functionality used in Pages '09 v4.3 that is not supported in Pages v5 will be filtered out when opened in Pages v5.

  • Receive file too big for email

For me, the most significant function missing from iCloud is the iDisk Public Folder option so clients can send me files which exceed email attachment size limits.
These are not files to be shared publicly, and most of my clients are governmental entities with restricted networks so users cannot join a file-sharing service, but they could simply upload files to my iDisk Public Folder.
Without Public Folder we're back to burning CD/DVD and snail mail.
    Alternatives?

Dolby 2.0 and .aiff are both audio files - the .aiff is not compressed, but the Dobly 2.0 is an AC3 file and will be about a tenth the size of the other, and run at a far lower bitrate.
Compressor produces both files by default when you use 'All' with one of the pre-sets. If you don't want them both, remove one from the batch window, or create your own pre-set which doesn't include the unwanted version.
Dolby 2.0 refers to it being a stereo track with 2.0 channels, it isn't a later version of Dolby.
When the encoding is complete, bring both the video and the required audio (I suggest the AC3 for space and bandwidth) into DVDSP and use them in a track for authoring to DVD.

  • Too big a file for server

I've got a .wav file that's too big to email.
Is there a way to reduce the file so that I can email it?

Control-click it in the Finder, compress or archive it, and email the resulting zip. If it's still too large, use a service such as this one or an IM service to send it.
