PDF VIEW ISSUE FIXED in FIREFOX 19

FYI Only ...... After Updating from Firefox 18 to 19 my PDF Viewing became (.ashx) ver's. Turns out that in FX Tools/Options/Apps the [Portable Document Format] line DEFAULTED to "Preview in Firefox".
Changed it to [Use Adobe Acrobat / or could have used Reader] and Normal PDF Viewing returned.
My eyes originally fixated on Just the 3 ADOBE lines at the top and I didn't even notice the 5th "PDF" line and the Default "Error". Maybe this Helps someone later.

  • FF 19 and PDF viewer issue

    So the latest version of Firefox 19 comes with a built in PDF viewer.
    The problem that I found is that this viewer at its present time does NOT show fillable fields ina PDF, or let the user type into these fillable fields, or show the electronic print and instructions buttons we place at the top of most of our PDF "forms".
    Ex: http://www.tmcc.edu/financialaid/downloads/forms/1213/FINAConsortiumAgree1213.pdf
    This form should show buttons at the top and let a user fill it out. It does with the Reader plugin. In FF 19's built in PDF viewer I cant seem to do anything.
    We presently make all our PDF forms fillable, so if this is an issue, hopefully a fix or update can be found.

    This new viewer was an ugly surprise. I DO NOT want pdfs to open in Firefox. I want FIrefox to give me the option to open or download. If I select open, I want it to open in my copy of Acrobat (not the Reader), and certainly not inside Firefox. Can anybody help me?

  • I am running Quickbooks Online and need a pdf viewer plug in for Firefox 5 in order to print checks. Is it available and if so where?

    After writing a check in QBOL it shows it in a pdf viewer within my browser. After upgrading to FIREFOX 5 I can not print checks correctly as the earlier pdf viewer plug in is nit compatible with Firefox 5

  • FF pdf viewer issue

    When I open a pdf in FF, with the FF PDF plugin enabled, I found the icons disconnected and distorted.
    While when I open them in Chrome or IE or Adobe Reader, it looks good.

    Hello,
    In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
    #Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
    #In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
    #In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
    #On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.
    Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • IMac PDF viewing issue

    For some reason whenever I download a PDF file, my computer asks me what kind of a character set it should use.  I get choices like cyrilic, western european; basically anything except english. When I choose any of them the file comes up with gibberish. I'm using Firefox. Has anyone had a similar issue and/or know how to remedy it? Thanks!

    Do a Get Info in the Finder on Preview.app, look for Languages & expand that, what all is checked?

  • Request: PDF Viewer plug-in for Firefox

    So, just what is wrong with Adobe? Shouldn't this be a no-brainer?

    EEE! All right! Good-bye Adobe! I found a very good working option -- no plug in required!:
    http://www.docufarm.com/ (Can't find it through mozilla, but I did a virus scan before I downloaded it, and it was clean (you should always do that)). An explanation as to how it works is located at
    http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2007/05/preview-documents-with-docufarm.html
    Three problems with the PDF Browser Plug-In:
    (1) Limited features -- cannot search within the document
    You can direct the plug-in to use Adobe (or other viewer) to open, but then the document is downloaded which belays the whole point of having the plug-in...
    (2) Scrolling issues (minor, I could live with it, but it is annoying): using the scrollbar tends to break the display and you have to reload the document
    (3) PDF Browser Plug-In does not work directly with Mac Intel (must run Rosetta) -- this is an issue since I'm about to upgrade my powerbook...
    I agree it likely comes from higher than the poor programmers. Either Mac/FF users simply aren't a large enough group to get priority (I was kinda hoping this thread would prove that wrong), or the directive came from Apple (not Adobe) -- they've been stupid about the competition thing before... ...but if feature requests aren't read by anyone at Adobe what's the point of having a feature request forum?

  • Lightroom 1.0 and 1.1/Web Module/Flash gallery (default) remote viewing issue fixed.

    Background: We experienced problems remotely viewing the Lightroom auto-generated Lightroom Templates/Flash gallery (default) template.
    <br />On our local PC running XP SP2, the gallery works just fine. When uploaded, it doesn't work anymore when visited remotely from another PC.
    <br />
    <br />Fix: We found out that the top of each html file contained the code:
    <br />
    <br /><?xml version="1.0"?>
    <br />"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"&gt;
    <br />
    <br />Those are document type declarations saying the code in the page is XML and follows the Strict XHTML guidelines as defined by w3.org; it tells the browser how to interpret the code that follows.
    <br />Our guess was the code used doesn't follow strict XHTML guidelines, and it broke the page by preventing the browser from displaying the rest of the html--perhaps a problem with our server too? Anyway, deleting this header fixed the problem.
    <br />
    <br />It worked for us. Dunno whether other users experienced the same problem. Anybody reported/noticed the same issue? Any feedback/suggestion/interpretation? Has this been reported to Adobe before?

    Oups, the code disappeared when I posted; here it is (added extra _ after > and before < and one space in between ht tp to freeze it!):
    <_?xml version="1.0"?_>
    <_!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
    "ht tp://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"_>

  • Acrobat X versions after 10.0.3 PDF/A Issues - Fixes?

    Every update after 10.0.3 will not let me save as or use preflight to covert documents to PDF/A. I get an error message.  I am able to create a PDF/A1b with some scanned documents, but any time I try to make a PDF/A (any version) from a document generated in Acrobat or Word, I receive a message saying I cannot create a PDF/A. I believe there is some issue with the text being recognizable.
    Above is a screenshot of the errors found in an attempt to use preflight to convert to PDF/A-1a from a form created in Acrobat.
    Above is a screenshot of the document I was trying to run the preflight on.
    I would love if there was a solution to this other than uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat up to 10.0.3. Any ideas? Why is this not on the bug list???

  • Firefox PDF Viewer Displays Specific PDF Incorrectly

    I have a PDF hosted on my website that displays incorrectly when loaded in the FireFox PDF viewer. I would like to simply fix the PDF so that it looks correctly. I understand there are ways to circumvent the PDF viewer, but I have not been able to get any of them to work for me. Is there a style guide or something that can help me fix the PDF so it loads correctly on the website?
    The PDF is: http://www.tiresafetygroup.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2013/05/Modern-Tire-Designed-for-Profit-WEB4.pdf

    It already looks a lot better in the Latest development version, although I still get the notification bar.

  • PDF Viewer zooms toolbar on Ctrl-Shift-=

    In the builtin PDF viewer, Ctrl-"-" and Ctrl-"=" are used for zooming. However Ctrl-Shift-"=" seems to be interpreted by firefox and zoomes the page it displays as a whole, including the PDF toolbar.
    The variants without shift work as expected also change the zoom value displayed in the PDF toolbar, the variant with shift does not.
    This is somewhat annoying, it would be great if the behaviour could be consistent.

    I've never noticed the Ctrl+Shift variants. Are these a UI convention on Linux?
    I'm not sure how to submit a suggestion for the PDF viewer. Fixing the Ctrl+ variants was done in the underlying project, which has an issues list here: [https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues]. But it might be that Mozilla can plug the gap until that gets addressed there.
    ''Edit: This isn't actually on the issues list yet as far as I can tell.''

  • PDF doesn't open in Firefox

    This seems to be a common problem. Firefox fails to open PDF files. It just shows a blank white screen. The common solution is to shut off the Adobe Reader add-on. Well, it didn't work for me. PDF is still not loading.

    The NPAPI plugin by Adobe was blocked by FireFox because it caused the browser to crash...
    You need to first disable the NPAPI plugin by going to Tools --> Add Ons and disabling that...
    Then download the PDF Viewer Add-On that Firefox has for it's browser here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/pdfjs/
    Then to make sure it's all working... Go to your preferences (command+,)
    and click "applications"... Make sure the default is selected "Use Adobe Acrobat Pro (default)" -- (you might have to restart after adding the add-on before it shows up, not sure.

  • Why no PDF viewer for Firefox4 for Mac?

    I used to use the PDF viewing plug-in with Firefox 3.X but it seems there is no similar plug-in available for 4.X. Am I missing something? I tried downloading OpenIT, but it was truly awful. Why is Firefox so far behind on such a basic yet essential capability? I am about to either revert to 3.X or replace Firefox with Safari.

    Over the last few days I have got a new problem with the pdf viewer. When I scroll down to a new page, the old page stop scrolling, so that the new page covers the bottom of the old page. Thus, can't read from the end of one page to the start of the next.

    For Firefox users, there might be a built in pdf viewer, or a preferred viewer that handles pdf files.
