PDF view when opening

How can I save a compiled PDF so it opens in the split vertical view?

The left side shows the items in the file and the right side shows the open document.
i.e. left side: employment application, W-4, I-9, emergency contact
right side: would show which ever document is open

How do I disable audio on a pdf page when opening a link that also has audio?

Hi,
I have a pdf page that has audio that plays when the page is visible. I set the "disable" audio to happen when the page is no longer visible. That works great. However, I have a link on the pdf page that opens an attached pdf page. I specifically want that linked page to open in a new window. It just so happens that the attached page also has audio. I cannot find a way to disable the first audio. As it is now, both audios play at the same time.

Saved Adobe Illustrator as PDF. When opened, PDF does not contain the images?

I am using a brochure type template in Illustrator and I have placed a few images in the brochure.
I have completed my brochure and want to save the AI file as a PDF.
I have saved the PDF file but when I open it, all of the images are gone.
What can I do to fix this?

Sorry for all of the vagueness. Here are some details.
I placed the image by doing: File->Place and then I just dropped the image in. I have tried to embed the image but that didn't seem to help. The images are on my local computer.
I didn't do anything to the images other than placing a rectangle box/border around the image. I sent to border to the back and brought my images forward.
I saved the file to a PDF by doing: File->Save a Copy... and then saved it as a PDF.

Access denied: Adobe PDF error when opening PDF in IE9

Adobe Version: 11.0.3
IE9, Windows 7
Opening the PDF document from web browser opens a "Adobe PDF Document" dialog box with "Access Denied" error message.
However, on clicking "OK" on the dialog box, the PDF document appears in the desired section.
But, still trying to get rid of the access denied error message as this pops up each time a PDF is being opened.
Please help asap.

Not valid PDF error when opening PDF file

I am trying to view a pdf and it starts opening with Adobe but then says it cannot open because it is not a valid pdf. But I have been able to view it on my laptop and other computers. Please help!

I emailed it to myself from my laptop and then was able to open it on my tablet. So clearly it is a valid pdf.... why can't I open it directly on my tablet?

Login error with report viewer when opening Crystal report with subreport

Hi
I have a problem with a login error (database vendor code 18456) when I try to open a crystal report to view it.
The report uses data from an external payroll database but I'm running it via our Accounts system (it's a convenient front end for users to run the report from). This works fine for another report that doesn't have any subreports. However when I run the Crystal report that has subreports, the report generation process works but when the crystal reports viewer tries to open the report I get the login error. It doesn't seem to be passing the login details for the payroll database down to the subreport.
I'm using Crystal Reports version 11.0.0.1282. The Accounts system is Technology One. Tech One have provided a report template that has several formulas designed to allow Tech One to play nicely with Crystal. One of these formulas allows me to enter the nickname of the external database that the report needs to use. The external database's connection details are fully specified in the Tech One configuration section (server console). So in this case the report says use database U1 & the server console identifies U1 as being the payroll database, specifies the connection path & has the username & password required to logon to the payroll database/server.
The report is running ok & retrieving data, but for some reason the viewer is erroring. If anyone has any ideas for how I can get the login details used to run the main report to flow through to the subreport it would be much appreciated.

I understand your frustration. We can do a few things. But really, it should be Technology One contacting us. To use an analogy (which you are free to share with Technology One). They built a car and sealed the hood. You bought the car, but he engine does not quite run as it should. You bring the car to the mechanic and all he can do is look at the car as he can not even open the hood.
In any case, here is what I would do if I could open the hood (e.g.; if I was dealing with Technology One):
1) Look up database vendor code 18456. This is simply the error our print engine is receiving from the database client and it simply passes it through relatively unhandled. This you should be able to do your self or ask Technology One to tell you what that means.
2) Break out the subreport and see if it runs on it's own in the application (if this is a permissions issue - which I doubt - it should come up here too). Unfortunately, this is for Technology One to do...
3) Run the report (with the subreport) in the CR designer. Does it work there? If this is a win app and it works, we again eliminated permission issues. And we also confirmed that the report is good. Again, Technology One should do this for you.
BTW.; CR 11.0 is out of support - not sure if you or Technology One are aware of this...
4) Can the developer duplicate the issue on his development computer?
Now, there are couple of instances where you say something like; "the report works and gets data, but the viewer errors out":

How do you know the report is retrieving data? From the error I would say the report never connects, thus the error / request for a logon...
So, the short of all of this is; get Technology One to contact us. They can do it over the forums or obtain a phone case here;

Now, here is a warning. As CR 11.0 is out of support Technology One will have to upgrade to CR 11.5, before that can create a phone case, which for them and you brings up another bunch of issues...
If you do not get any joy from the support person at you are talking to at Technology One, get him to escalate the issue. They are the ones that should be talking to us...

What the content author set for Initial View in the PDF's Document Properties will be how Adobe Reader/Acrobat
processes the PDF on open.
Using Acrobat Pro you can create a Batch Sequence that runs the sequence "Open Options".
Configure "Open Options" (via the Edit button in the Edit Squence dialog) as desired.
Run the Batch Sequence across all PDFs in a given directory to set the options you desire.

Firefox launches to pages previously viewed when opened-How to disable this?

When FF is closed, the next time it opens it returns to the previously viewed pages. Multiple tabs open.

Calendar itmes not showing end date in list view/when opened

Hi,
Got a client with a very strange issue with meetings.
Few of the meetings are not showing end date after accepting those although he can see all meetings in calendar.
I have already checked below on his machine
switched the month view to ''low detail'' then back to "high detail"
Show end date is visible in views
Reseted view options to default
Strange thing which I have noticed during troubleshooting is that issue is happening with Exchange cached mode only and not in Online view.
Client is using Windows 7 Enterprise with office 2010 on his machine.
I hope someone can help here. Let me know if any further infomation is required.

Outlook 2010 would read the local data in local email profile and the view setting is also stored in local configuration when someone runs it in cached mode.(Email profile in online mode would read the data from Exchange store directly)
At this point, I recommand that we create a new profile to check if we could see the end date in Outlook calendar view.

Maintain PDF layering when opening in older version of Illustrator?

As the title explains, I was wondering if it may be possible to avoid data loss upon opening a PDF in an older version of Illustrator. I have a client who is still using CS5, and needs to have editable PDF files that maintain their hierarchy.
Currently standing, I get the "This file was generated by a newer version of Illustrator" error, which flattens the artwork into a single layer. Is there a workaround for this, or am I out of luck?

Have you tried saving as CS5. There's a drop-down menu for choosing a version. It will still flatten some things that are not available in the older version, but you may have better luck keeping the layers intact that way.

Why does the background color in a saved pdf disappear when opened in Acrobat Pro 9.0 but appears when opened in Adobe Reader?

Does someone know why this happens? BTW it only started recently.

When opening a pdf set default view on details

Dear reader,
I have a question about the default view when opening an pdf. How can I set the default view to detail its on list now. I also want this setting to be saved. Im using adobe reader 8.1.2.
Any help would be appriciated.

1.File - > Properties (Ctrl+D)
2.Initial View (tab)
3.Set the setting you want.
4.Save it!

Illustrator CS3 No Text when opening PDF

This happens to certain .pdf files when opened in Adobe Illustrator 13.0.x.

Note that all the fields are blank, but when the file is opened in Adobe Acrobat 6.0, all those fields are filled with the proper information.
I have looked at 3 different computers loaded with Illustrator 13.0.x, and 2 of them are doing this, while 1 has no problems at all. I'm unable to find the different at the moment.
Hopefully some of you know what's going on and can help me solve this.

Ah... the missing piece of the puzzle.
Illustrator ignores fonts embedded in PDF documents. Illustrator assumes you want to
edit rather than simply
view the document, so it insists that you have the necessary fonts installed on your system.
The PCs on which you can read the document properly (in Illustrator) have Helvetica installed.

Strange Behaviour when opening pdf files using search results

I have observed inconsistencies between opening a pdf file when in the document library itself (it opens in a browser - good).
However, when I click on a the same file in my search results having used Search and the Search Centre it opens in the adobe reader. I would rather it opened in a browser rather than the adobe reader.
The only difference I can see is that when opening from a document library the url ends in ".pdf", whereas when opening from the search results the url ends in ".pdf#search=<search string>.
Anybody any ideas ?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to open pdf from search result in browser.
Firstly , permissive Browser File Handing in Central Administration, you can refer to the link:

Whether you are using OWA for SharePoint 2013. If Office Web Apps is not used for Search results of PDFs, the opening of PDFs in the browser passes the search terms into Adobe. So, if you don’t use OWA, please configure it for SharePoint 2013.
