PDF Virus on iPhone?

So today I received an email from a trusted friend with a pdf attached. I tried to open it on my iPhone and it would attempt to load but nothing would happen. I then went to my computer and opened the pdf file and my anti-virus program immediately caught it and said it was a trojan. Is there any way that my phone could be at risk? Thanks for the help everyone. Btw, iPhone is NOT unlocked

iOS does not function the same way under the hood as OS X or Windows. Malware is built to take advantage of a vulnerability within a specific OS, but would likely not be able to operate on others.

You can deactivate the camera notification:

Based on your post it sounds like you would like to sync your iBooks content with your computer. I have located an article that may help you in this situation. While you can sync this data with your computer you can also use the sharing button to send PDFs using various sources:

Loading pdf file from iPhone Documents folder into a UIWebView

I'm currently trying to include the ability for my App to download a "pdf" file from the web,... display the image in a UIWebView,.. save it to the iPhone,... and later redisplay it in the same UIWebView while "off line". I've been able to do everything but get the web view to load/display the stored pdf file. The App finds the .pdf file...
Here's the path it finds in the Simulator...
Image File Path: /Users/FCR/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/8E29ACDF-4A56-4AC2-BFA0-C4F8E00E1481/Documents/AD_K EWR.pdf
... but I'm not much into html and can't seem to come up with a url scheme to load the image. I've tried several attempts using the URL... "file:///" ... but so far haven't been able to get the file (which is in the iPhone's Documents folder) to display. I seem to be about one line short of a workable solution.
Can anyone offer a bit of code (help) to accomplish this seemingly easy task of displaying it in the UIWebView?... It would be much appreciated!

If the PDF supports it then you can try opening the PDF in iBooks on your phone and use the 'share' icon (the square with the upward pointing arrow) to email it to yourself (some PDFs a protected and don't support emailing) and use 'open in' in the Mail app on your iPad to copy it to its Mail app.
Or you can connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy it over to your iTunes (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just ibooks) and if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its iBooks app, and you can then sync it to your iPad.

Yup, restarted my system. First thing I did was open Firefox and try to open a .pdf.
There isn't an Acrobat icon in my system tray, and it's not showing up in my task manager, so is there another way of seeing if it's open?

Viewing PDF on iPad/iPhone

I work for a financial company and it seems that some of our user's were having trouble viewing a pdf document that contained editable text boxes. The layout of the form itself would show, but none of the text within the text boxes would appear. So I tested the pdf out on my phone as well and did the same exact thing (layout shows, but no text). So I downloaded the Adobe PDF reader and that did work with the phone. The only problem with that is is that the Reader app downloads a copy of the pdf to the iPhone/iPad and that's a very big "no-no" to our auditors. So I was wondering if you guys knew of any way to make those pdf's readable or if y'all might know of a pdf viewer app that will not download a copy of the pdf to the phone itself? Any help/suggestions would be greate appreciated.

If he can read the form when he selects Quicklook, that's a new one on me. That has never, ever worked for me. Form fields have never been visible as attachments in the built in Mail app on any iOS device that I have ever owned. he needs to download a real PDF reader app in order to view, edit, sign, etc. form fields. Tell him to download Adobe Reader which is free and it gives him all of that functionality. Other pdf apps will do the same things, but Adobe Reader is free.

There was a new piece of iOS malware discovered recently, but it, like all other known iOS malware, requires that the device be jailbroken. If your iOS device isn't jailbroken, there's no known malware capable of infecting it.

how can i put pdf books on iphone? i have the "ibooks" app. the books are in itunes in the books folder. i told itunes to sync, it showed it was but the books dont show up in the app....

jseth: perhaps obvious, but did you click on the PDF section in the iBooks app?
When the iPhone is connected, there are several tabs revealed. It is not clear in the messages that you have done this. There is a window further down that panel that should show all books to be synced. If you select All Books, it will be greyed out. You can check to see they are all there by clicking on Selected Books. When sure, select All Books again. You will need to sync then.

I concur with Tonefox; worthless. To preserve battery the best thing you can do is shut down apps that constantly run in the background and fetch data from servers elsewhere; the Facebook app being a prime example. Apple has more tips here:

Interactive PDF on an iPhone/iPad?

Hi folks...I'm supposed to create an "interactive presentation" for work so I created a document in InDesign and used a lot of buttons to go back and forth between pages, video files for page dividers and a lot of rollovers. I saved the file as a PDF and it works perfectly fine using Acrobat on a mac or pc...all rollovers intact. The boss wants people to be able to view the same PDF on an iPhone and iPad.
Is this even possible? I got a couple PDF apps for my iPhone to test it out and none of the rollovers worked, the movies didn't play and some images ended up going missing. The boss is telling me to find a way to get this to work on them but I don't think there is...at least not with my skillset.
I need to give her reasons why it's NOT working...any ideas? Is there some applicationsn better suited to have it work on the web and iDevices?

PDF Virus/Malware "Peachy"

Does anyone know what this new virus/malware does to your computer or how to tell if you have been infected? I have installed the security update but I download a lot of PDF files from the internet and want to find out if I may have already been infected.

I'm running OSX 10.4.11 on one machine and 10.5.4 on another. I have Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 on both. I just updated one computer with 8.1.3 and will update the other tonight.
I can't seem to find a lot of info on this subject. Looks like there are more PDF viruses than just Peachy circulating.
I have not seen any pdf files with an attachment.
