PDF with 2 plates instead of one

Hi! I have a PDF that I need to be one color/black for one-color commercial printing. It appears to be one color, but I checked the PDF using Output Preview and it has two plates--one black and one 60% grey. Is there a way for me to merge these into one plate? I don't have the application files to fix it and regenerate the PDF.
Still using Acrobat 9.
Any advice appreciated!!

Alas, no, that doesn't do the trick. When I try to run Convert Colors, I get an unhelpful error message "The changes were not completed" and the file still has two plates in Output Preview.

hello, I am running Safari 6.0.2 and since this update PDF files are automatically opened within Safari. This seems to be a new feature. In my older version of Safari whenever I clicked a pdf it was downloaded to my "Downloads" folder and then automatically opened with Preview. The option open "safe" files after downloading in Safari -> Preferences -> General is ticked. So as soon as a download a PDF file it should automatically be opened with Preview. However, I cannot figure out how to download a PDF file from a google link. I googled and people suggested to use alt + mouse click on the google search result link to download the PDF. However, whenever I tried this instead of downlading the PDF file it downloads a .html file which is then apparently not opened. Also using the option "download linked file" or "download linked file as" only downloads a url.html file and not the PDF. I searched and searched for any possible solutions but cannot find any. I am really suprised that no one has yet really complained about that. Any ideas of how to fix that problem?

I had a similar probem after updating to the newest Safari -- and I posted that question on the forum this morning. Like you, I didn't have any adobe plug-ins. then I read another post that made sense:
find a pdf document that you know opens in Preview. Do a command-I on that document's icon. Then you'll see 1/2 way down an item that says "open with Preview" - click on the arrow beside that, then beside it you'll see "use this application to open all documents like this one" Under that, you'll see "change all" -- and it will change all pdfs to automatically open with Preview instead of Adobe.From then on Safari worked perfectly
Then I wondered why I didn't have the Adobe plug-in that people were telling me to disable - so I downloaded Adobe Reader again - looked in the library and sure enough there was the plug-in - so I went ahead and disabled the Adobe pdf plug-in (by dumping it in the trash).
so far so good -- first time that Safari 6.02 has worked for me since I installed it.

Fillable PDF with graphics instead of text?

Is there a way to create a fillable PDF where you import a graphic instead of just typing text in?
I have a form that will be used by and organization with multiple chapters. They would like the Fillable PDF made so that each chapter can just drop in their own chapter logo into the form and print. Is there a way to do this without me having to create a different PDF for each chapter with their own logo in it?

A form created with LiveCycle Designer will allow Reader to populate an image field with images of certain formats, but the button approach is far more flexible, apart from the Reader issue.

Scan to e-mail, Multiple PDF email attachments instead of one.

Hi there! My problem is scanning multiple pages to e-mail them. This does not happen to all my jobs, but about 80% of them get scanned and then emailed multiple times. file names sometimes come with pages. For example: the email attachment pdf files would be named: "[Untitled]_1-6.pdf(1 MB), [Untitled]_2-6.pdf(1 MB)" etc..This happens with random pages as well. So if there is a 12 pages document sometimes i would send it to email and the pdf's would be pages 1-2 in one pdf and then page 3 , then page 4-8, then page 9, then 10, then 11-12. Each pdf file would come in a separate email. I really only want to scan however many pages i need to email to someone and have them receive it in One pdf file. It gets very annoying sometimes and I would have to use another program to mend all the pdf files into one pdf using separate software. Can anyone help out with this?

How do I change standard programs (f.i. opening PDF with acrobat instead of preview)

I tried it with : "open with" and there it asked if id like to open it with that particular program next time. But then PDF again was opened with the original program

In the finder select the file and right click on the file and select "Get Info" from the drop down menu. In the files Info window that open, there will be several triangle with a title next to it (ie. General: , More Info: , Name & Extension: and then Open with: . If under the Open with title is just the next title "Preview", click the triangle to the left of Open with: so you see a drop down menu you can click on to see a list of application that can open that file. Select the program you want to use to open the file (if it's not in the list select "Other..." and locate the program in your Applications folder. Then click the "Change All.." button under the drop down menu in the "Open with:"

Opening PDFs with Preview instead of Acrobat within Safari

I much prefer to use Preview for downloaded PDFs than have Acrobat open PDFs in Safari. How can I switch back to Preview once I have installed Acrobat 7?

PDF Browser Plug-in is a good alternative for viewing PDF files accessed via a web page. You can save or print from the pdf page. I've used it for a couple of years now, and IMO is a viable alternative to Preview, especially in quickly accessing the information within Safari.
There is no charge for the plug-in if used for non-commercial purposes.

How to create 200 individual pdfs instead of 1 pdf with 200 pages? (Page breaks?)

Hi,
Is there a way to create multiple reports using SQL Reporting Services (2008 R2) using one dataset, instead of one long report.
For example, running a batch of customer statements or bills etc.
At the moment, our report runs well but creates one pdf with 200 pages, instead of 200 individual pdfs with each page being for a different customer.
I was thinking there might be a page break setting to create separate outputs but haven't been able to find anything.
Any advice appreciated

If we want to export the report to the multiple PDF files based on each page, I suggest you can use data-driven subscription which provides a way to use dynamic subscription data that is retrieved from an external data source at run time. For more detail

maybe i am saying it wrong..when i press alt+tab there is only one firefox open..but in windows 7 in the taskbar..every tab open..appears as another window open

If you are referring to taskbar previews, you can turn them off by modifying a hidden preference.

Firefox downloads PDF with wrong extension instead of opening a websites' PDF viewer

I have a problem with websites that want to provide their own PDF viewer. Instead of launching their viewer, Firefox wants to download the PDF. I'd be perfectly fine with that ***if it downloaded with the correct .pdf extension so that Preview would actually open the PDF***. But that's not what happens; I end up with something like "RetrieveDocument.aspx" or "Retrieve.srv".
I've tried resetting my download options (http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions). Didn't help.
I saw some stuff about other plugins I can install. Here's the thing: *this stuff works fine in Chrome and Safari*. Maybe websites aren't tagging their content correctly or something, but this stuff works fine in two other browsers.

In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

Numbers 3.2.2
Instead of Menu > File > Export To, use Menu > File > Print...
That takes you to Print Preview.
In the Print Setup panel, Click on the Print... button lower right (it won't print yet).
That opens the Print Dialogue.
Click on the PDF Pop-Up Menu lower left.
Choose Open PDF in Preview or Save as PDF.
That will have page breaks and will be full sized.
Print from Preview.

Editing Pdfs with OCR and image in one file.

I have some scanned documents and are at the same time images and pure text and are giving me problems to read in ereaders or computer.
Example of normal text in a PDF: The font is constant and vectorial, fine reading

As you can see I can copy the pure text, but I only see the scanned image wich is bent and I can see text of the original page in the other side
In this other two, the text is not fine, not bent but it is less readable on ereaders and notebooks, it is like a low quality jpg.
How can I delete the images and make a pdf only with the text?

Make Mulitiple pdfs with one click

To anyone who can help me. To give you some background here are the knowns, I am running Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, I work in an engineering enviroment, I need to print 3 different versions of the same PDF. So here is the rub, In the organization i work for different personal have different security classifications. I need to create three different types of PDF's with the following securities.
Normal PDF with all the securities to view, print and save.
A "READ ONLY" PDF that you can only view from a monitor and not be able to print or save the pdf.
A "PRINT ONLY" PDF that can not be saved but can be printed with a watermark warning and a timestamp in the background.
I have thousands of file to create so if their is anyway to run an API or some form of automated creator that would be great. Please help.

Acrobat is not that secure, but within that limitation you can do #3. Doing at the same time might be a challenge. It may be that you could write a batch sequence that would add the desired security and save files to a new name or different folder. You could also add a separate PDF printer instance that would add the security in for the use with that instance. You would still have to print 2 times and then name the files accordingly. You might be able to create some general JavaScript to do the desired operation, but I am just guessing there. Anyway, there are some thoughts, possibly worthless.
