i've had a look in advanced properties of the file but i just got lost, is there a way?
how simple is it?

  • User can't access a PDF with Forms

On a website, we have a main menu PDF with a list of bookmarks linking to individual user manual PDFs.  When a user tries to access a user manual  PDF with forms in it, they get the error "There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this document (118)." The user dosen't appear to have any problem opening a PDF that doesn't contain forms.
The user is using Reader 10.1.3 and Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.19328.  This user cannot access the PDFs with forms when given a direct link to the file either. However, if the user is sent the PDF file they can open it with Reader and in their browser.  I'm stumped.  Does any body know what's going on here?

Is there a browser setting that can affect if a PDF opens? Something in security, perhaps? I've looked around and don't see anything obvious that could allow/disallow opening a PDF file that contains form fields.

  • Can I create a PDF with form controls using JAVA?

I have a web site running on linux (Ubuntu). I'm programming in Java. Presently I use open office to create PDFs with form controls (checkboxes, lists and text fields). I'd like to be able to create in my program (Java) with form controls. JasperReports is not good because I don't see a way to create form controls. Help!!!

I am not sure what this has to do with the Acrobat SDK, as we don't have a version of SDK for Linux (or Java).

  • PDF with XFA elements

how do i convert a pdf with XFA elements to word?

    Something to try.
    Open with LCD.
    Save as "static" PDF.
    Close out of LCD.
Launch Acrobat XI Pro - Open PDF - Save As Other to MS Word.
Or, having subscribed to Adobe's online service (PDF Pack or ExportPDF) sign in to your subscription and send the PDF through the pipe.
Or, print to paper. Scan then use Acrobat or the appropriate online service (perhaps PDF Pack) to get an OCR'd PDF.
Then export to a Word file via Acrobat or the online service.
    Be well...

  • Saving PDF with Form

I've got a PDF with several form fields, if I fill them out and save the PDF, all of the fields go blank again. I have access to Acrobat Pro on another computer so I can tell that this PDF has no protections enabled, what's wrong?

Adobe Reader does not allow saving filled-in forms, either with Save, or Print to PDF. Some forms don't fill properly with Preview (at least they didn't in Tiger), and Preview doesn't have many features (such as field descriptors), so Adobe Reader is sometimes the only option. The virtual printer lets you save filled-in form with Adobe Reader. If the form works with Preview, then the built-in Print to PDF can be used.

  • Firefox 4 on Windows 7/XP is not allowing user interaction with form elements that contain HTML coding. For instance, a textarea element whose content includes h4 My Content /h4 br /

On a Mac, Firefox 4 was also dysfunctional and the "enter" key immediately submitted the form instead of adding a line if the cursor was placed inside content to start with, but on Windows it seems impossible to get the cursor inside the textarea content at all.
The "view source" of the form textarea element plus the content that our user entered is pasted below:
    <textarea name="content" cols="120" rows="50"><h4>SEARCH TOOL NOT WORKING</h4><br>
    <h3>TRY FIRST</h3>
<P>Check for popup blockers; set for allow<br>
Mac users may want to use Firefox if Safari does not work and not a popup problem.</P>

    Computer's operating system?<br>
    Browser and version?<br>
On campus or off, if off how are you getting a Brown IP address?<br>
    What in detail is wrong?<br>
What have you tried to overcome the problem?
    </p>
    <h3>IF ALL ELSE FAILS</h3>
<p>Contact CIS HELP - it may be your computer.
<p>A computer cluster in one of the libraries or CIT if the problem is not with the vendor. </p></textarea>

p.s. I realize that the user content is somewhat confusing, and your web page interprets the HTML tags instead of displaying them explicitly...
The user content begins after the <textarea> element and includes HTML headers, breaks, etc. Other HTML content inside form elements gave similar results. Thanks!

  • PDF with forms to PDF without those forms? Some kind render or publish script?

    Hello to everyone!
I have the following problem with Acrobat Pro 9:
I did fillable form that works well in PDF. I would like to make the button which would save a new version of the file where it is no longer the possibility of filling the forms. So I want "Render" that form PDF to basic PDF where is no any user interactive forms available. I want to get rid of those forms after and get only those filled data, so user get nice simple PDF with user own filled texts...
Is this even possible or do I seek a solution in vain? Is it possible with Acrobat Pro 9?
I've tried to find a script but didn't find any solution for this yet. If someone could help a little so I would be grateful. Is there any script for this kind solution?

You can flatten the form fields, which converts their appearances to regular page contents and removes the fields. There are a number of ways to do this, one of which is to use the flattenPages method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.466.html

  • TextBox/text callout crashes 9.5.5 Pro; opening PDFs with forms kills before opening

Pulling out my hair.  Original installation of Acrobat 9.0 pro on my new Windows 8.1 machine had no issues, but recently I cannot open any PDFs with fill-in forms (whether already filled in or ready-to fill in from a trusted agency), and neither can I annotate with text box or text callout (but can add with sticky notes).  I had Acrobat Reader installed and received the 'font capture acrord32.exe error, after uninstalling Reader and Acrobat and cleaning up as many orphan files/directories/registry entries, I re-installed Acrobat and patched to 9.5.5, with no improvement.
I am not sure if some other software installation or upgrade has hosed Acrobat, or one of the many Adobe patches to one of their programs has caused this problematic behavior, but I would welcome any suggestions (well not re-install my operating system, but I am willing to try one of my backups).

Appreciate you getting back to me, unfortunately the Acrobat 9 version I was having problems with is at home and I will not be there until June.  You refer to Acrobat Cleaner - is this available on Adobe's website or is it a third party cleaner.  As best as I can remember the issue with Professional is that it will not open files with fill-in forms - the problem with Reader is that it reports a problem with fonts.  I will be back in touch once I return to my home computer.

  • My PDFs with form fields get "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." on anothers computer, PC and MAC

Im creating PDFs through InDesign and using Acrobat Pro 9 to add fields.  I save them to allow ADobe Reader people to use them.  Everything works fine on Pro and Reader on my end with a PC as well as someone elses PC.  But one person using Mac said some forms work and some dont.  Those that dont get the error "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."  Ive resaved them and made sure they work and same problem.  There is nothing overly coplex about the PDFs either, a date field at the most.  They are using Reader 9.1.
I found out the other day that one person who can open them adds info to them saves them and send over to that other person and cannot open any of them after they have been edited, same error.  He even tried on a PC and still gets it.
I dont know what to do.  I know it has to be on his end and not mine.  What else can I suggest to him??

It sounds like they are using an earlier version of Acrobat or Reader, though you said Reader 9.1. If you add some features in AA9 that are new, it appears that earlier versions see the new features as damaged files. At least that is my guess. Try using Reduce File Size or PDF Optimize to save to an earlier version and see if that helps. The other option is that you are getting them messed up in e-mail because many client look at PDF files as ascii and do not encrypt them. In that case force the encryption. You can also send them in ZIP form.

  • Converting PDF Forms to Word and Then Back to PDF with Forms In Tact

    Hello,
We are currently having a heck of a time replacing some keywords in a collection of about a thousand PDF forms.  These forms were created in Word without any interactive functionality and then converted to PDF.  The simple form interactions were then added using Acrobat.
We figured out a way to replace all of the keywords by converting the PDF to Word, and then running a Visual Basic macro that does a Find and Replace on all of the documents at once.  Our problem is that we lose the functionality of the forms when we convert them to Word.  The docs have to be converted back to PDFs, and putting in all of the form interactivity in each file would take far longer than we have.
Is there a better way to go about this than we're attempting?
Is there a way to do these conversions and keep the interactive forms?
We essentially want the forms to behave exactly as they did, just with a few keywords changed.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

If you are going to convert regularly, you may want to subscribe to ExportPDF,

  • Lock pdf with form at opening

Can someone please point me in the right direction to get more information on doing this:
We have a .pdf document that we want to lock down with a form - when someone downloads the .pdf, they will open it and be presented with a form they are required to fill out before they can read the document/get past the first page.  The provided information will then be emailed to someone at our organization.  I know I've seen this done but am having a hard time finding info on HOW to do it.
    Thanks!!

    Hey,
I am sorry, but there is no such feature in Adobe Acrobat.
You might need to fill the feature request form at the given link:

  • Creating PDF with Form Feilds - Upgrade?

I am using Acrobat 7 Pro.
    Need to do:
I need to create PDFs that my client can open then be able to type in bits of information and print the PDF to look like a finished form.
Example: Say I create a contract and send it to my client. They need to be able to open the contract PDF and in the middle of sentences enter information (like a name) and then print it out. The Contract needs to look like the "name" was always there and not like an enter form area form the rest of the sentence.
Do I need to update my Acrobat? I have had no luck creating them in version 7. Does Acrobat 9 create such forms?

I use Corel Draw x3 for my design work. Then I use the Corel create a PDF setting.
Afterward I open the PDF in Acrobat and make sure it looks ok.
Usually save it again with acrobat.
If I open Word and try to import the PDF it always seems to not recreate the graphics correctly. And I have to make my vectors into bit maps to get them to display even close.
My Version of word is old too. Word 2002 uses scansoft PDF converter 3
Trying to get Corel to save as Word doc does not work correctly either.

  • Create a multiple Pg PDF with Forms, while adding up total of each page.

My name is Javier Morales, I am working on a project for a client in the clothing business. I created a form that it is working very good. I would like your help on figuring out how to insert additional pages to a Pdf form document and keep on adding the Totals of each page.
My email [email protected] I will really appreciate your prompt response. Right now I have them as single PDF documents, which work fine, as long as I dont try to combine them.

Fields within an AcroForm PDF need to uniquely named unless you want the identically named fields to share the same value.
You may have to rethink your approach. You should look at using the template object to spawn additional pages. Unformtuately templates do not function in versions of Reader before XI.
