PDF with no External Links

Fellow Forum Members,
I'm using Acrobat Pro X and is it possible to insert a MP4 video within the PDF file?  I do not want to reference to the MP4 video using a link to some external location. I want the video file embedded inside the PDF file without using a link.
In Acrobat 9 it was possible to place a video within the PDF.  How is it done in Acrobat Pro 10? In addition, is it possible to embed the FLASH player itself within the PDF file so that it doesn't matter if Flash is or not installed in the computer playing the self contained  PDF file?  Any tips will be welcomed. Thanks.

Hi binar0101,
Here are the instructions for adding placing a video into a PDF using Acrobat 10: Adobe Acrobat X Pro * Add multimedia to PDFs

  • Exporting to PDF with hot html links

I'm trying to create a pdf document that has functioning html links. Does Pages let you do this?

To create a PDF with live links you'll need to buy a full version of Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Reader is just as titled - a reader. It will only allow reading and basic markup of pdfs.
The PDFs created through the Print menu are also very simple PDFs. Their creation is not a function of the program the original document comes from, be it Pages, Numbers, Word, Excel, Appleworks etc. It is based on the operating system using technology which is probably licensed from Adobe.
To get all the functionality available in a PDF, you've go to pay the piper - Adobe - for the software.
    Good luck,
    Terry

  • Saving as a PDF with Active Web Links

I need to save Word documents that have active web links in them to PDF files. When I save them to PDF, the links are no longer active. How can I save them with the web links in tact?

You need Adobe Acrobat to do this (the Professional version, not the free Acrobat Reader or the OS X Print to pdf function. The software is rather expensive, though. There are less expensive versions (Acrobat Elements) but these only run under Windows.
You can also use Adobe's online pdf creation service, which may be a better (i.e. cheaper) option.
    Hope this solves your problem...

  • KM content exoport with ICE: External Links are not transported

    Hi,
We have to move KM content from DEV->QUA->PRD, so we've set up ICE. ICE is working without any problem. All Objects are transported, but there is an exception,External Links are not moved. (Internal Links are transported correctly!)
    We are using Portal 2004s (sap.com/SAP-JEECOR  7.00 SP8, sap.com/SAP-JEE  7.00 SP8)
We tried it with Portal Drive, but External Links are not possible to be copied. (I can see the file for a short time(1-2 sec) in the target folder, but after refresh it disappears from the folder.)
Does anyone have experienced such an issue, do you know any ideas to resolve this problem?
    Any help is greatly appretiated
    Best regards
    Richard Palotai

Seems to be the same for me.

  • Using a fillable PDF with a FormsCentral Link collection.

I want to inport a fillable PDF and then use the Forms Central link distribution to collect responses vs sending out the fillable PDF with a submit button. How do I do that ?

    Good day,
Our CreatePDF service does not allow you to create fillable PDF files. You can find an overview of CreatePDF's features here: https://www.acrobat.com/createpdf/en/features.html
For this capability, you need Adobe Acrobat.
There is no upgrade path from CreatePDF to Adobe Acrobat available.
    Kind regards,
    David

  • Strange problem with changing external links site-wide

Hi, i'm having a problem that i just cant work out; i'll describe whats happening and would greatly apriciate any help anyone can give.
when i type in an external/absolute link in dreamweaver sidewide change link function i keep getting a message saying it cant find any links with that name ("no links to.....found".
i've tried creating a simple link in my index.html like http://google.com then searching for that so i know its there and dreamweaver still tells me that http://google.com, www.google.com, /google.com and every other variation i can think of doesnt exist. In addition to that when i search for broken links and click external links to try changing them there, the search function finds the links i'm looking for and lets me type in the new link i want but when i hit enter it reverts to the old link.
at first i thought it was a problem with my copy of dreamweaver but i downloaded my site to a hard drive and tried on my uni computers copy of dw cs3 and cs4 with the same outcome.
i have about 1000 of the particular link in my site that i need to change and really dont want to do this manually, if anyone could help i'd be extremely grateful.
    thanks, Andy

note: although it seems straight forward i also followed youtube guides on defining my site and changing the links to make sure i hadnt missed something obvious.
although it still maybe something obvious i just cant see it and i've been googling to find out if other people have had this problem but couldnt find anything

  • Export pdf with completely flattened linked images/tables

    Hello
I am trying to export my thesis as pdf so that the illustrator images which are linked in, are flattened including their text labels.
This document needs to be submitted to examiners who want to scan the word-count of the body text, not the images/tables.
I have looked at other discussions but suggestions have not worked, I can still select the text of embedded images/tables in Preview and Acrobat.
Please can I have some suggestions
    Thanks

Here is one way, You will need to open each Illustrator file, duplicate the original layer and call it "Outlined type". Go to select> Objects> Text objects, then Type> Create outlines. (outlined type won't be recognized as words, unless you ask it to try).
Open your InDesign file, select each linked Illustrator file and go to Object> Object Layer Options, turn on the outlined type layer and turn off the original layer. Keep the original Illustrator layer, in case you need to make future edits.

  • Interactive report column with an external link -  Sort, chart functions

interesting.... the message text did not make it into the post (twice). But edit seems to work.
    Our problem....
We have an interactive report with a column that in some cases will contain information allowing us to build a link. We have updated the report query to return the data tagged with the <a href..... on rows that can be links. The links are displayed and function correctly. However, if we click on the column header so we do something like sort, the page hangs. If we try to create a report using this column we get an error.
We have also tried marking the column as a link in the IR definition. With that design, the sort and reporting isn't an issue, but all the rows are links, which is not what we need.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?
    Thanks, Nann

    Hi Peter,
Thanks for your suggestion. We ended up with a slight variation in the design that allowed us to mark the column as a link.
Basically we have a column just for the link.
In our query we now have 2 columns. One that builds the url, the other the text we want displayed as a link.
If that row should not have a link in it the query returns null for both columns.
We only display the link column in the report.
We use the url column in the link definition .
We've disabled the sort and other functions on this column.
    All works as we wanted.
    Thanks

  • Export interactive pdf with InDesign CS4 (linked avi)

    Hello
I've exported an avi linked video to pdf from InDesign CS4. Video is playing but I have a few questions.
    1. Any way to get around the security stuff in Acrobat? Allow blocked content blocked, etc. without user needing to allow.
    2. Does the export degrade (lower) video quality if the video is linked? End user said video quality was poor.
    Thanks.
    Dave

Current Acrobat versions will have security issues. The only way I know is to go into Acrobat's preferences for Multimedia, Trust Manager and Security to allow from certain sources. I haven't done that, so you should probably ask advice on the Acrobat forum.
Linking video should have no effect on quality. It's all in how you've encoded the video.

  • Best option for PDFs with limited interactivity

We've recently published a fully interactive folio into a multi-folio app for a client using DPS, but they've asked if some of their weekly/fortnightly print publications could be added to their app as folios without interactivity.
In other words, these are "specials" publications which have a very short shelf-life and don't require any interactivity (other than perhaps tappable links to their ordering websites etc).
Can PDFs be turned into folios through InDesign/DPS, and published to an existing app so that my customer's clients can view all my client's publications this way?
We would continue to publish interactive folios for the app, which have a longer shelf-life (say quarterly or yearly), but these quick turnaround "specials" publications don't have enough lead time (and we don't have enough staffing resources) to produce useful overlays and interactivity for each of them.
    Cheers,
    Eoghan.

    Thanks Andrea,
I haven't been able to find any links to information about the "trick" of reading a PDF directly into an app on the link you provided. Maybe it's hidden, or not applicable any more.
Out of curiosity, if we created a PDF with some limited links to websites etc, then read that into an app, will those links still work?
Ideally, our customer wants some folios in their app to be interactive, and some to be basic pdf-style publications, but all of them housed within the one app.
    Cheers,
    Eoghan.

  • External link to location in PDF not working

I can't get an external link to open to a specific place in a PDF.  I have tried the code for named destination and a page number and nothing is working.  I actually found some good documentation on line that should me all the parameters that could be passed, unfortunately, they aren't working.
Here are the ways I have test linking into the PDF:
    http://at3etfsn1.atlanta.ibm.com/crm/sheol/Marketing/MAT_DPP_ExercisesA.pdf#nameddest=LogO ut
    http://at3etfsn1.atlanta.ibm.com/crm/sheol/Marketing/MAT_DPP_ExercisesA.pdf#LogOut
    http://at3etfsn1.atlanta.ibm.com/crm/sheol/Marketing/MAT_DPP_ExercisesA.pdf#page=22
    http://at3etfsn1.atlanta.ibm.com/crm/sheol/Marketing/MAT_DPP_ExercisesA.pdf#22
The link is stored on a wiki... but I didn't think that would make a difference.  The PDF was created using Acrobat 9.0 from a Word document.  I have made sure that the document does not have any security.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions that might help me get this to work.
I know this is shocking, but I did actually read the documentation.  LogOut is a bookmark I made with no spaces in the name.  I'm not sure what else to try.  If you have some examples or suggestions please let me know.
    Thanks for your help.
    Take care.

The link was copied from a post I'd made to AUC from back in 2008; so, yes it can/does work.
    I've used PDF Open parameters with MSIE 5, 6, 7, & 8.
During use of any particular MSIE release I always keep it updated as MS rolls out the updates.
Used Adobe Reader 5, 6, 7, 8,  & 9 - each updated as Adobe rolled out the updates.
    Used Acrobat 5 (Full), Pro 6, 7, 8, 8 3D, 9 (Pro Extd).
Again, as updates are rolled out they are applied.
    Just checked again with:
MSIE 6 (fully updated) & Adobe Reader 9.3.2
    MSIE 8 (fully updated) & Acrobat 3D (8.2.2)
MSIE 8 (fully  updated) & Acrobat 9 Pro Extd (9.3.2)
For all, the open parameter performed as expected.
Source PDF's Initial View is page only.
Rendered in browser showing bookmarks and opened to the specified page.
As to MSIE add-ons; this varies with the MSIE release.
IE 6 shows less than IE 8.
Various threads at Acrobat User Community may be informative.
    For keyword search: "open parameters"
    For Author search: "daka630"
    At AUC Forum Search:
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/search.php
5th post to this thread has the link I used above as well as some others -
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewtopic.php?id=15061
n.b., tried the links you provided - nothing appears in the browser - same if I delete # and all subsequent characters after the file extension.
As to "installs" - basically, I run with the out-of-the-box installs; nothing "custom".
One thing that is common to the Adobe Reader/MSIE 6 & the various Acrobat/MSIE8 checks I just did is that for "Documents" in the Preferences the 'Open Setting' of "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" is not ticked.
-- just an end note here, open parameters have been around since at least Acrobat 4.x
    Be well...

  • External link in a PDF

How can I access an external link from a PDF?

  • PDF viewed on iPad external links didn't work

I have a pdf made from InDesign CS5.5 with internal navigation links, and links to external websites.
I looked at it on a new iPad G4 iOS 5.1
I opened it on Safari (would not download the pdf but would view)
The internal links worked, the two flash pages of course, did not.
But what was weird, the links to external URLs did not work, they would not move out of the server where I had put the file, so when I clicked the links, the url showing on the screen was:
    www.myserver.com/http://www.theurliwant.com
Can I fix this somehow in the PDF, or InDesign? or is it an iPad or Safari issue?
Any ideas on how to fix?
The links, by the way, work in the Kindle App I have on my HD.

    Thanks Michael.
In this case, downloading the pdf and getting it onto an iPad is one step I would hope to avoid for the people who are looking at this for several reasons.
It seems to me, connecting to outside links is not high tech and there must be a fix I am missing.
It seems that Safari on the iPad should do it, that perhaps I need to set something, somewhere.
Again, it works on Kindle browser and Safari on my laptop (and all the other browsers I use)
If the fix is not in the set up in Adobe, perhaps the answer is in an Apple Forum re iPad iOS Safari.
    Again thanks for your help.

  • Send over HTML-Link an string to PDF with openparameters ?

    Hi,
is it possible to open an 3D-PDF over an HTML-Link and commit the 3D-PDF any strings (I´m not mean a searchstring for the internal searchfunction)?
    Thanks for help !

It's very difficult to explain by words.
I need an help in this forum because I want to make my book(interactive pdf) opens an external application that is a sort of presentation with video and images created in director.
If I try to create an hypertextual link between a button and this file  I don't have the chance to choose it. So I thought to write a script like - launch "start.app"- to make my presentation run ( it happens if I ask the script to run).
But I wonder: - how can I make this event happen only  when I ask to my project to do it?-
For example: I am reading my book on adobe digital edition and at the end of the third chapter, there is an image.  I mouse up and I understand it's a button. When I click on, it opens a new window with my presentation running and I watch it. At end I quit and I keep on reading my book on Adobe digital edition.
    Have you an idea?
I hope I have explained it much better?!?!

  • Merge documents with external links

    Hi all,
I am wondering if there is a way to automatically change external links to internal links upon merging two or more documents.
    For example:
I have a pdf document containing a table of contents with links that point to separate "section" or "chapter" pdf files within the same root directory structure.
I would like to merge all of the pdf files into a sinlge document and maintain the table of contents.  Currently, when I merge the documents, the table of contents links still point to the external files.  I would like the links to point to the location of the sections in the new, merged, master document.
Is there an easy way to do this without manually changing the links?
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

I don't think it's possible, at least not in any simple way.
