PDF won't download

I just created a fillable form with FormsCentral but when I click "Download as PDF" it will say "Creating PDF" then nothing happens. Why can't I download the PDF form?

If you don't see the distribute tab it likely means you are using the standalone Formscentral Air application. If you click the Collect Responses Online tab in this view you will be prompted to sign into your Formscentral online account. (In your case a free account.) from there you should see the distribute tab as I described above. The reason you don't see your forms files on your system is they are store in an internal database on your computer for local forms or on our servers for forms you move online. If you simply want to design forms for local use and then SaveAs PDF this is supported in Acrobat XI but not Acrobat X.

  • PDFs won't download

Since installing Tiger and hence Safari 2 I can't download PDF files from some sites. Instead I get a box with the message:
"The file is damaged and could not be repaired"
The same PDF files download OK in IE 5.2. Anyone know what's wrong?
    Thanks, Dicty
PS PDFs that do download open in the browser window even though I've done the clicked off PDFs in the Quicktime MIME settings.

Hi Toni, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Yes, that indicate a broken download for some reason.
Make sure you have plenty of free space.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

  • PDFs won't download in 64 bit mode

When I go to a site and click to download a PDF, all I get is a black screen when Safari is in 64 bit mode. If I switch to 32 bit, the PDF opens up just as it always did and I can then save it or print it. What gives?

    Greetings,
Two things stand out here: you're not downloading a PDF file, even though that's what the subject of your post states. You're trying to view a PDF file in Safari, which is completely different.
Adobe Reader (and probably Adobe Acrobat Professional, too) are not 64-bit applications, so they will only run in 32-bit mode. Thus, the Adobe PDF Viewer plugin won't work while you're running in 64-bit mode. You don't need either to view PDF files in Safari; it's perfectly capable of displaying them on it's own, so if you've installed it, you need to get rid of it. Unless you're doing some processor-intensive tasks such as editing or rendering high-quality video, there's no reason to be running in 64-bit mode; you're not gaining any performance benefit, and none of your InputManagers or plugins will work.

  • Pdf won't download fully

I have a web site that I manage for some clients. They
periodically send me pdfs to upload. Recently there has been one
pdf that they've sent me a couple of times. When I upload this and
link to it from a page and then click the link, it will only
download .5 to .75% of the way and I often get errors about not
being able to open certain fonts. None of the other pdfs of theirs
do this and I'm not sure what's going on. Does anyone know what
    would cause this? Thanks.

    hello vtxr1300,
    Thanks for the posting!
Are you uploading these pdf files into an acrobat.com
    account? or somewhere else?
Some pdf files can contain errors internally, and may
therefore have trouble making it through out virus scan.
Since it's file specific, you would want open and look
through the file, and see if visible, what elements may be
    different in the file.
Or potentially have the originator of the file, resave it,
    and resend it to you.
Give that a try, and get back to us when you have more
    information!
    Thanks!
    Pete

  • Adobe PDF won't download

I got an email from the HR dept of my new job and it includes a PDF attachment for me to download. When I try to download it just has a pop up that says to download the latest version of Adobe. When I do that, it still just keep saying the same thing. I took it to an Apple store and the "genius" said that I may just have to get a cheap PC for these type of attachments. Really? $1200 computer and it can't download a certain type of attachment?
I'm real irritated as I would rather not have to buy a new PC laptop. Can anyone help? My macbook is 13 inches, from late 2008, aluminum, running 10.8.2.

Fixed it. I just made sure to set Adobe Reader as my default PDF viewer. It opened it fine. This was an Adobe portfolio file and it is a huge relief that I figured this out as I don't have to go buy some cheap PC just for these files. As a note, the Apple "genius" should be fired (or educated). If I had already bought a PC I'd be very upset to learn that I didn't have to buy one after all.

  • PDF won't download to iBooks

A couple of friends of mine are having problems downloading PDF files to iBooks. The PDF flashes for a nano second then disappears. The only way it will work, is they have to close the application every time they want to download a PDF file to iBooks. What's weird, I'm not having the issue and we download similar types and number of reports etc.  I'm wondering if there is an app they have that I don't that takes priority over iBooks. Also, I was hoping the iOS6 would fix the issue but it doesn't.
Does anyone have a best practice or solution to avoid this issue?

I would suggest that they start with the basics.
Quit the iBooks app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or .... Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or ... Delete the app and reinstall it. Tap and hold down in the app icon until it wiggles then tap the X to delete iBooks. Download the app again.

  • Some PDFs won't download in Safari

I can't seem to open and view some pdf files. If I click on a file, it opens a new tab and offers to view file in iBooks, but there is just a blank page, no file to view. Help please.

Installed Firefox, still have the issue...videos play just fine when I log in as a guest but not in my user account???

  • Some pdf & doc won't download... tried fixes under 'FF keeps opening many tabs or windows' but none worked... these files open in Safari & Google Chrome.

Some pdf & doc files won't download. The "You Have Chosen to Open" pop-up appears but when I hit 'Save File", it goes away and the file is not saved. The corrupted files show up in mac download file as .part but don't show up in ff download file. Tried suggestions in "Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows" on this website but none worked.

This is most likely Firefox's new "built in" PDF Viewer giving you the trouble.
First, in Firefox, type "about:config" (minus the quotes) in the address bar. This will open the Firefox configuration file. You'll see a warning. Click that you'll be careful, and open the configurer.
At the top there is a search bar. Type "js" (again, minus the quotes).
In the list of results you'll see pdfjsdisabled with a value of "false". Right click it and select Toggle to make it read "true".
Click Firefox>Preferences and under the Applications tab, scroll down to Adobe Acrobat Document. Click the drop down on the right side and choose "Use Adobe Reader (default)".
That should take care of it for you.

  • Firefox won't download pdf's using iMacros "TAG" command

For work, I automated the downloading of documents (doc, docx, pdf files etc.) using a simple macro in iMacros. I had to use a macro because the nature of the site is - go to the main screen, click a client name link, scroll down and click a link to download the document - then go back to the main screen and repeat. The macro automated this tedious process and WAS working with about 95% success (seems that I can't tell firefox to automatically save a txt file for some reason - but that's another story). Now, all of a sudden, the macro won't download any pdf's. The macro still works fine when the document is a doc or docx or rtf file but when it hits a pdf file, it does nothing - just moves on to the next client. Since the macro works properly with the other file types (again, not txt - but everything else) it's probably not an iMacros issue. The frustrating part is - I can go into the page manually where the pdf file lives - and click on the file - and it works properly - file downloads automatically as it should.
the macro code line is very simple:
    TAG POS=1 TYPE=A ATTR=TARGET:_blank
I had to set all my document file types to automatically download (including adobe files) when a link is clicked - which is fine - and like I said - the macro used to work - just stopped downloading pdf's all of a sudden.
Also I disable the adobe plugin - but that didn't work - since I have adobe files set to download automatically it shouldn't make a difference if the plugin is active or not anyway.
    Any help appreciated,
    Thanks

    Hi,
As a safe test you can try installing [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/imacros-for-firefox/ iMacros] in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile] and check. The [http://forum.iopus.com/viewforum.php?f=11 iMacros support] would also be helpful.

  • PDF Documents Won't Download

When I click on a PDF document, the web site opens up a new tab and puts the PDF in the new tab. From there, I can scroll the PDF and zoom in and out of the PDF.
However, Download or View in Preview icons (located bottom center of the page) nothing happens. The file does not download, nor will it open in preview.
I checked the Internet Plug-ins folder and did see AdobePDF reader was installed, so I uninstalled those. But I still have the problem.
Any suggestions to fix this issue is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Safari 3.0.3 won't open PDF files in new window & won't download to desktop

When I click on a PDF file at a website Safari opens a new browser window but the window is always blank. The PDF file never appears. When I try to download the file to the desktop (right click) it doesn't download. I've read everything about the PDF problem posted at any relevant forum here. I've tried the Quicktime MIME approach. Didn't work. I've disabled the "open PDF in browser" option in Adobe Reader. Didn't work. I've looked for the Adobe plug-in to relocate. Didn't work. I downloaded Adobe Reader 8. Didn't work. When I make Adobe the default rather than Preview, Safari still doesn't open the PDF files or download them. Is there anyone in the computing world who actually can fix this problem? And why hasn't this recurring problem that has affected so many others been escalated to Apple for resolution???!!!

Installing the newest version of Adobe Reader and restarting Safari fixed this issue for me.

  • Adobe reader won't recognise pdf file when downloaded

    Hi all
Hope I'm in the right forum, if not would be grateful for correct re-direction ...
I have a web site written in DWcs4 with a link to a PHP page offering a pdf document for download.
The PHP code includes the "content-disposition: attachment " header in order to prompt the "view or save as" download box.
When the link in the web page is accessed the pop up box asking to view or save the file works fine  (as desired) however when trying to view the pdf file,
acrobat reader opens automatically but gives a message similar to the following :
my_pdf(1).pdf is not an permitted file type or is damaged (for example sent as an email attachment and not correctly coded)
Firstly I dont understand why the file reference has a (1) added to it (the source file is simply my_pdf.pdf)
secondly I dont understand why the file is not recognised since I created it myself in Adobe 8.0 converted from a word doc.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Luv_craft,
Have you tried to check to print with other PDF documents. Try open a different PDF document and check if you have option to print or you are able to see the list to choose the printer to print with.

  • PDF won't save to computer

I download several financial statements in PDF each month and two of them, though enabled, will not allow themselves to be saved to my computer. They can be viewed, printed and edited but clicking on the save icon does nothing. The'Save to:' pop-up does not appear. I'm running Windows 7 x64 and have the most current version of reader (9.4.1). Has anyone seen this before???

    Hi,
Yes indeed, we have the same issue. After further research, I ran across this workaround that worked for me. Of course it does not solve the Adobe problem, but it does allow for saving a PDF that does not want to be saved while opened in IE (I’m using 8). Here is a copy of the workaround.
Of course the question remains – what is the problem and why do we have to use this workaround – very strange. Must be a compatibility issue with certain website, win 7, IE 8 and Adobe. The problem site for me was Chase.com. I called their online rep and they had know ideas.  Hope the workaround works for you.
Here is the link where I found the workaround.

    Hey Reepercheep,
Just a note...  I have been experiencing this problem with one of my accounts since back in Reader version 8.x. The second account only started paperless before Christmas. I was willing to put up with it from one group but two with the same problem broke the camel's back (it started to become a trend!). Hopefully someone has found the magic bullit to solve this. Cheers

  • Adobe Reader 8 Won't Download

Adobe 8 won't download pdf doc's in one user profile on multi user profile computer. However, if we switch users to a different profile reader 8 works fine. I cannot uninstall 8 on the bad profile, brings up a user profile error message. Why is this working in one profile, but not the other? How do I get it back?

    Try this:
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
    Empty the trash
Relaunch Safari. You can now download undamaged PDFs.
