PDF zoom article x resolution quality

Hi,
I have tried the new resource to apply zoom in articles with overlays, but my texts (with scrollable) are coming worst when I zoom in the page.
Is there any way to better the quality resolution to vector objetcs using PDF zoom features.
Regards

That is expected behavior. All content in the overlays gets rasterized.
This is still a major improvement, IMO, and we'll all have to be patient as Adobe continues to work to improve these tools and the output.

  • High resolution PDF still generates low resolution drop shadows?

    I have created a series of print ads in InDesign CS5.5 to be run in magazines, and at the bottom of the page is the company's logo, with a drop shadow applied to it within InDesign. Nothing strange there. Upon exporting the PDF, I use the Press Quality settings which by default are made to create 300 dpi PDFs. The only changes I make in the settings is adding bleed and crop marks, I don't change anything that could affect the resolution or transparency settings. But still, the magazine's print-technician always replies that the shadows in my document have a low resolution.
    Up until now I have told him to not worry and run it anyway, and the results have been fine - I haven't noticed any problems with the quality of the print in the magazine. But it really annoys me that I keep getting these error messages - I want to create perfect PDFs! Why on earth are my shadows ending up as low resolution images?
    The only thing I can imagine might be a sign of an issue is under the Advanced-tab in my Export-settings. The Transparency Flattener section (which I, to be honest, am not quite sure what it is) is set to medium resolution, and is greyed out - meaning I can't change it to high resolution. Could this be what is causing it? And if so, how do I fix it?

    I don't spend a lot of time with Acrobat's preflight, but it looks like it assumes what the flattener preset will be at output even though it could be anything.
    The default Press Quality preset exports live transparency with the flattener grayed out as Medium and it looks like Acrobat preflight considers that even though nothing has been flattened yet. So, here I've made a 3" sqaure box and exported it with Press Quality and prefilght tells me it's roughly 200ppi (which by the way is plenty for a dropshadow):
    If I change the preset to High (set the Compatibility to 1.3, which lets you set the flattener to High, then reset compatibility to 1.4):
    Then Acrobat's preflight tells me the shadow will have more resolution:

  • Zooming article causes everything to disappear

    Hi there,
      I have some PDF-type articles containing multi-state objects. If I pinch and zoom (in the preview app) everything on the page disappears...is this a bug? Is there something I can do to prevent this (either with the zoom working, or by disabling it)?
      Thanks,
    Toby

    There was a bug in v23 that I thought was fixed in 24. Make sure you have version 24 set for your folio.

  • PDF Zooming issue

    Despite the fact that I have created all articles in PDF,
    that I have checked the box "PDF zooming" in the Viewer Builder
    In the Developer Preview.ipa (loaded on my iPad), zooming works only on a few pages out of 85.
    Where is the problem ?
    Thank you

    Ok now.
    I think, I found the culprit.
    After minimizing my test case to 1 article and an InDesign file with no contents, just a blank page, I found one difference between my problem file and my new files that work without problems (= zooming is enabled):
    My problem file was created in InDesign CS5 v7.04 and then worked on in 7.5.5 v7.5.3.
    After exporting to IDML from InDesign CS5.5, reopened and saved again as InDesign CS5.5 file the problem was gone.
    Zooming was no problem any more!

  • Zoom into high resolution image

    Hi,
    Before starting to learn Muse, I've one big need: zooming into high-resolution images.
    I want to show how high the resolution is by letting the viewer zoom in with a loupe (or just scrolling with mouse wheel). I'm not talking about of a slideshow through some crops of the main image, but of an shrink- or grow effect of the image.
    Is this possible to achieve?
    Thanks for your insight,
    Dominique

  • Which setting should I have my apple tv set for picture resolution/quality it takes like a whole day for a movie to download before we can watch it

    Which setting should I have my apple tv set for picture resolution/quality as it can take a whole day to download a movie before we can watch it??

    The video/audio display settings should set automatically for the best your TV can handle (720p AppleTV2, 1080p AppleTV3).
    The download resolution for rentals or playback of purchases from the cloud is set in settings for iTunes store.
    Sounds as though you have slow internet.  For near instant streaming of video from iTunes store you need around:
    Standard Definition     2.5 Mbps
    720p HD                    6 Mbps
    1080p HD                  8 Mbps
    Any slower for a given quality setting and the movie has to buffer as it can't keep up in real time.  This might be a few minutes if close to the rated speed or many hours, even overnight.
    As pcd251s suggests you could test internet speed (speedtest.net on a computer for example).  If that is fine, sometimes the LAN if on wifi can be extremely slow in certain locations - ethernet connections would troubleshoot that.
    Slow internet is the common issue here.  AppleTV does not have permanent storage and using it to play other content or browse trailers while a rental is buffering can reset the buffering process.   In such cases you might be better off planning in advance, renting in iTunes, letting the whole thing FULLY download and it will then be available across teh LAN to stream from computer to AppleTV under Computers>iTunes library name>Rentals.

  • How do I save as a pdf without reducing the resolution?

    Hi everyone. I am making business cards and I have to upload a pdf to a website to place my order. My card is ready to go at the specified resolution (300 dpi) and dimensions, but whenever I save it as a pdf, it reduces the resolution immensely. The dimensions of the photoshop file are 1062x615, whereas the pdfs (no compression) are always 254x147. The photoshop file, again, is 300 dpi.
    The dimensions in inches for both files: 3.54 x 2.05
    Obviously 254 pixels across 3.54 inches is not 300 dpi, but I cant figure out why it would do this. Please help.

    OK  InDesign quickstart guide
    Open indesign and create a new document.  Use the drop down and choose Intent: Print and US Business card
    Ctrl d opens the place image dialogue box.  locate the image which can be a PSD file with no text or JPG or PNG whatever.
    Drag the cursor to place and size the image.  Use the Selection tool (v) to move and resize.
    With your background image selected (handles and bounding box visible) use the Windows drop down to open the Text wrap panel and chose 'No text wrap' (or you won't be able to place text over it).
    Now create a text frame and use the Type tool to place your text.  This can be maddeningly frustrating but you'll get there.  Google and Youtube is your friend.
    https://www.youtube.com/results?q=indesign%20placing%20text&um=1&ie=UTF-8&gl=NZ&sa=N&tab=w 1
    When done, Export to PDF

    or this might easier to follow

    The resulting PDF will print way way better than a bitmap image created entirely with Photoshop.

  • Safari 7 PDF Zoom Level

    Since upgrading to Mavericks Safari no longer remembers my previous PDF zoom level.  I am using Safari's build in PDF viewer, not Acrobat.  Prior to Mavericks Safari would remember my last zoom level (I prefer Actual Size).  Now PDF's always open in Automatically Resize mode and fill the width of the screen.  I open a lot of PDF's in the browser and it is rather annoying to have to manually change the zoom level every time.  Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix this?  Thanks!

    Moreover, automatically resize fits page to the width of window. This is the most stupid thing ever, considering my display is 1920*1080. It feels like every single letter is the same size as my eyeball.

  • Retrieve what video resolutions(quality) a youtube video has, with youtube api or packet analysis

    a youtube video is usually with multiple video resolutions (quality) like 240p, 360p,720p,etc how can I retrieve what video resolutions(quality) a youtube video has are there any youtube api which can get this information
    I think If I capture the packets when I'm watching a video, by analysing the packets, definitely I can know what resolution this video provides but I don't know which part the packet provide this information does anyone know this? thanks!

    I am no iPhone expert, but I believe it has to do with what connection you are using.
    I noticed this the other day, I watched a YouTube vid the other day connected to my home wifi, and it looked amazing. Then I went to show a co-worker the same vid while on the 3g network. It looked like crap, all large pixels and blury. Anyway that is what I noticed.

  • PDF zooming & quality

    I have a problem, I'm not a programmer but I try to do some app for fun.
    I try to create a pdf viewer, I create a UIView class like this:
    [CODE]   - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame {
            self = [super initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame];
            if (self) {
                self.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
                NSString *pathToPdfDoc = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"myPDF" ofType:@"pdf"];
                NSURL *pdfUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:pathToPdfDoc];
                document = CGPDFDocumentCreateWithURL((CFURLRef)pdfUrl);
                currentPage = 1;
            return self;
        -(void)drawRect:(CGRect)inRect{
            if(document) {
                CGPDFPageRef page = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(document, currentPage);
                CGContextRef ctx = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext();
                CGContextSaveGState(ctx);
                CGContextTranslateCTM(ctx, 0.0, [self bounds].size.height);
                CGContextScaleCTM(ctx, 1.0, -1.0);
                CGContextConcatCTM(ctx, CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(page, kCGPDFCropBox, [self bounds], 0, true));
                CGContextDrawPDFPage(ctx, page);
                CGContextRestoreGState(ctx);
        -(void)increasePageNumber {
            size_t pageCount = CGPDFDocumentGetNumberOfPages(document);
            if (currentPage == pageCount) {
                // do nothing
            else {
                currentPage++;
                [self setNeedsDisplay];
        -(void)decreasePageNumber {
            if (currentPage == 1) {
                // do nothing
            else {
                currentPage--;
                [self setNeedsDisplay];
    [/CODE]
    now I try to add zoom but without luck, fro zoom I create a layer:
    [CODE]
        -(void)viewDidLoad {
            CGRect frame;
            if (UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPad) {
                frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 960, 1024);
            else{
                frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 460);
            tiledLayer = [CATiledLayer layer];
            tiledLayer.delegate = self;
            tiledLayer.tileSize = CGSizeMake(1024, 1024);
            tiledLayer.levelsOfDetail = 200;
            tiledLayer.levelsOfDetailBias = 200;
            tiledLayer.frame = frame;
            myPDFView = [[viewPDF alloc] initWithFrame:frame];
            //[self.view addSubview:myPDFView];
            [myPDFView.layer addSublayer:tiledLayer];
            CGRect viewFrame = self.view.frame;
            viewFrame.origin = CGPointZero;
            scrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:viewFrame];
            scrollView.delegate = self;
            scrollView.contentSize = frame.size;
            scrollView.maximumZoomScale = 5;
            [scrollView addSubview:myPDFView];
            [self.view addSubview:scrollView];
        - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView
            return myPDFView;
        }[/CODE]
    but when I zooming i lost quality...how can I adjust it?

    Open the PDF file in Preview, located in the Applications folder.  Drag the thumbnail onto the Keynote slide. If thumbnails are not showing, click the side panel options button directly underneath the red close button top right in Preview.

  • Exporting PDF's from Photoshop - Low quality / messed up image in Acrobat

    Hi guys, I am having this problem for quite some time now and i can't figure it out.
    So i have created a portfolio design in Photoshop, and now i want to export that out of Photoshop into images / pdf  combining all the files into one PDF
    The problem i have is that the output from Photoshop when it gets into Acrobat, has all kinds of artifacts and different (low) image quality.
    I have used all the presets from the "save as pdf" menu in Photoshop as well as exporting as png's or jpegs and creating pdf from Acrobat.
    Is this a rendering bug from Acrobat ? When i zoom enough, the problem disappears.
    Should i use a specific option / preset when i export from Photoshop ?
    Thanks.

    Try turning off Compression and Color Conversion when saving the PDF out of Photoshop.

  • PRS-T1 PDF Zoom

    Hi!
    When I read PDFs where you can't or should not change the font size because of reflow problems and using the Panorama-Mode is still too small, you have to zoom in. When you turn the page now, the zoom window is at the same position on the next page as it has been on the page before, instead of being at the top of the next page. Is there a way or is it planed to be able to use the arrow keys to reasonably skim through a zoomed pdf?

    Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum.
    Yes, it will stay in the same position within the page, but I can understand this being an irritation to someone reading a document in the way you describe, having to go back up on every page - I have forwarded the scenario to the Sony engineering for possible resolution in a future update.

  • Imprted .pdf image - poor printout resolution

    Hi there,
    I have a .pdf vector image which I imported into a large AW drawing which is 6 by 6 A4 pages in size. I enlarged the imported .pdf to spread across the full 6x6 pages. Being a vector image (there are no raster elements) it looks fantastic on the screen when you zoom right in - however when I tried printing out the first pages as a test, it was quite ragged and much lower resolution than being displayed on the screen.
    Since the total image as 'rasterized' for printing will be much larger than the 2000x2000 maximum in AW paint, is there any other workaround I can use to keep it nice and sharp on printout? (I have read the workaround for photos - but this will not work in this instance)

    AppleWorks changes the resolution of all graphics formats except PICT to 72 dpi. Try opening the PDF in Graphic Converter & saving as PICT & them inserting the PICT file into AppleWorks. Even though PICT files themselves are much larger than other files types in the Finder, the resulting AppleWorks file will be smaller just because PICT is AppleWorks' native format.

  • Exporting PDF at non-default resolutions?

    I'm working in Pages 09 (ver. 4.3).
    My default export choices of PDF are Good, Better, Best.  Good is not good enough resolution.  Better is too high a meggawattage.  Is there any way I can do something in between the two?
    Or perhaps export as a 'Best', and then somehow convert it to something a bit less resolution than 'Better'?  Using Preview?  Using Adobe Acrobat?
    Or is there some marvelous hidden preference somewhere in the bowels of Pages that would allow me more control?
    All ears,
    Ben

    Hi Peter,
    Aha.  Thank you.  So it's just the dpi that is changing.  I was wondering.
    Yes, I'm trying to find something more manageable for downloads, faster, and yet still of a certain quality.
    I notice all text is (I suddenly blanked on the graphic term ... meaning scalably sharp; I think it's time for my morning coffee).
    It'll be an interesting experiment... resizing the pics to the actual dimensions used in the document.  I wish I'd done a pre-select in Aperture (of all the pics I used), and put them in a single folder.  I could just batch re-export them at the appropriate size.  In fact, that's the way I'll have to do it anyhow methinks.
    Thank you kindly for your help Peter, very much appreciated...

  • How to shoot 1080p/60, output to 720p/60, so Warp Stabilizer or zoom/crop has no quality loss?

    I'm new to AE, and making a painful transition form FCP to Premiere, so please be patient, I don't understand many of the subtalties of these apps yet.  :-)
    Also, please forgive the long explaination, I'm having trouble articulating the problem...
    I'm shooting in 1080p/60, AVCHD.  I plan mainly to output to 720p/60.
    The idea being, that if I need to warp stabilize footage, or zoom/crop, I can do so without any quality loss.
    I don't want to edit the project in 1080p/60, because if I stabilize it, and it blows up the image, it will result in quality loss. Then when I scale down for final output, that pixilated/crapified footage will be present just in scaled down form.
    I don't want the footage to be scaled down first, then, when I stabilize it, I'm blowing up 720p footage (thus defeating the whole purpose of doing this) and once again, outputting pixilated/crappified footage.
    What are the steps / workflow to set up Premiere and the stabilizing shots in AE, such that I'm working in 720p, but using the 1080p footage, so that extra resolution is available when I need to crop, zoom, stabilize, etc. the footage... and can do so without any quality loss?  It would be great to have that ability to zoom in on elements in post, almost 2x, and not see any loss of quality.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Jason Wallace

    100% positive.  There is a family of lesser known Prosumer Panasonic cameras (my particular model is the TM700) that record 1080p/60.  It's a 3-chip, CMOS, that genuinly records at that resolution and frame rate.  Has audio input, headphone output, shoe mount, zebra stripes, touch screen, good battery life, and a manual focus ring (fly by wire, can be set for exposure, framerate, or focus).  Also has very good low light capabilities, that are much better than the published specs would lead you to believe.  The firmware is a bit goofy, and was clearly designed by engineers, not people who have ever shot video.  For example some things that should be easily accessible, are buried in menus, while other useless "fluff" features are front and quickly accessible.... but if you can live with a few stupid firmware compromises, it's absolutely AMAZING bang for the buck, and well under $1k to buy.
    Note: if I'm not mistaken, the camera can only output via HDMI 1080i/60, but for absolute certain the video files being recorded are genuine 1080p/60. (This has lead to some confusion and forum arguements as to whether the camera is actually 1080p/60)
    This was one of the main reasons for my moving from FCP to Premiere, as Premiere Pro handles the 1080p/60 AVCHD files, while FCP requires they first be transcoded and inflated to a intermediate codec.
