PDFMaker causes prompt to save normal template to appear

I have Word 2003 configured so that it prompts to save the Normal template when I close Word. This used to work just fine, only prompting when I made actual changes to Normal.dot, until I had Acrobat 9 Standard installed. Then it started prompting every single time I closed Word, even when I did not make any changes to Normal.dot.
This is a known issue. Microsoft Support Knowledge Base article 291352 says to remove add-ins. When I removed the PDFMaker (PDFMCustom.dot) add-in, the prompt behaved normally. When I reinstalled PDFMaker, the prompt started appearing every time.
Does anybody know a work-around that does not involve removing PDFMaker? I need that functionality. I am not afraid to edit the registry.

I also have this issue on my Dell XPS 15 laptop with the Nvidia Geforce 540M and the temporary fix is turning off hardware acceleration. I do believe that this should only be a temporary fix and that the Mozilla developers should figure out a way to work around this or fix this hardware acceleration issue with the nvidia geforce 540m.

Save as template ingores in and out points

I'm a new user to Motion, but not to FCP (took a bit of a break between FCP4 and the recently released FCP Studio).
Anyhow, I'm working on a project in Motion where the in frame is set to 300, and the out frame is set to 600, and the project 900 frames. When I choose File>Save As Template, the quicktime preview and FCP clip show 900 frames.
Is there a way around this? Do I need to submit a bug report, or is this normal behavior?

Can anyone else even confirm this? Would anyone else consider this a bug?

Prompting a "Save As" dialog for an accepted mime type

Hi ,
I am using the following code to prompt a "Save As" dialog bod for an xls file:
response.setHeader("Content-disposition","attachment; filename=test.xls");
This does work, it prompts the save as dialog box with the name "test.xls" if i click on save. However if i click on open, it displays an error saying the file could not be found.
Any idea how to specify a custom file name for an accepted mime type?

Ok let me try & be more clear.
I have a JSP page. In this page there is an "Create Excel" link. When this link is clicked, the JSP dynamically creates the data. Then the following code:
response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
response.setHeader("Content-disposition","attachment; filename=test.xls");
This causes the file save dialog box to be created. This dialog box has "open" & "save" options.
When the save option is clicked, the user is prompted to save a file named test.xls. However if the user clicks on the "Open" dialog box, then the file is not opened,i get an error message saying the file does not exist.
If i dont specify the
response.setHeader("Content-disposition","attachment; filename=test.xls");
Then the file save dialog box displays a default filename which is the same as name of my servlet. This works for both Open as well as save options.
I hope i have not confused you further..:)

Getting prompted to Save As when using Save option

We would like to deploy Reader XI with Protected Mode enabled. We have noticed that when using the Save option the user receives a prompt to Save As instead. I understand this is a security feature to basically grant Reader/Acrobat permission to save to this location.
Issue is that we have in house software that opens the PDF using Reader allowing the user to make markups and then save, but if the user saves the file to a different location this will cause the in house software to fail. Older version of Reader with Protected Mode disabled allows just the save to be used and the original file location to be preserved.
Is there anyway to white list this Directory so that Reader can save to it without a Save As prompt?
Only fix I know of currently is to disable Protected Mode but we would like to avoid that if possible

There is a notation in the documentation that may be relevant.
"Permissions granted by other features often overlap. For example, cross domain policies, internet access settings in Trust Manager, and certificate trust settings for certified documents sometimes interact so that the most permissive setting takes precedence. Users should TEST THEIR CONFIGURATION prior to deployment."
Have you checked the possible overlapping features?

Prompting for SAVE as the document with Digital signatures in 8 or above

When i am doing digital signature on Adobe PDF 8 and above , it is prompting to SAVE AS the document.I am accessing the PDF documents from my document management application and signing on that.So Save as wouldnot work for our case.It should save on the default existing location.How to solve this issue?

It appears to be some sort of conflict with the Windows Explorer document previewer that is causing this. Whenever I am previewing the document I am working with in the Explorer, I cannot save changes. As soon as I preview a different document, the changes can be saved without any problems. In the interest of providing further information so that a more permanent solution can be found, I am running Windows 7 and have had this problem with Acrobat 9 and X. Files are being saved locally. Unfortunately, I do not have the savvy to tell you what kind of server.

Prompting to save report.

I support a program that generates a report in PDF format. One of my users is now being prompted to save the report every time they view it. In the past this was not the case, they could generate the report and print and close with no prompt to save. Where can I go in the preferences to stop it from prompting this save?

There are no preferences like this. Acrobat or Reader prompts to save if the file has changed, and for no other reason. The trick is, certain scripts and certain kinds of file damage can cause the file to change.
Your first step would be to compare the EXACT versions of software in use, and product; and what window the file is viewed in. (Many people now use non-Adobe viewers like Firefox).

Unzip the CrossSiteLookupField.zip file to extract SPSolutions.SharePoint.CrossSiteLookupField.wsp file. There should be a install.bat file in the zip file. You can run it using command prompt. If you do not have an install file, you can either use
Powershell commands or stsadm to install this feature.
Here are the steps to install the feature using stsadm (I don't have a SharePoint VM near by. So commands should be simillar to the below ones)
Open command prompt with elevated privileges
Navigate to the folder where the SPSolutions.SharePoint.CrossSiteLookupField.wsp is extracted
Execute the following commands: "%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\BIN\stsadm.exe" -o addsolution -filename SPSolutions.SharePoint.CrossSiteLookupField.wsp
"%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\BIN\stsadm.exe" -o deploysolution -name SPSolutions.SharePoint.CrossSiteLookupField.wsp -local -allowgacdeployment -allcontenturls

Conversion without the prompt to save

Hello, prompt on the situation - in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro via master operations want to convert a lot of doc files to pdf. Opt for a folder with doc files starting the conversion process, but after the conversion of each document issued query "Save it or not" (attached screenshot). How do I make after converting one file passed to the next conversion without the prompt to save? To the process of creating pdf files was fully automated? Operation "Save" I added

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Robohelp crashes when trying to save a template

Hi, Whenever I try to save a template or a topic based on the template in Robohelp, it crashes.. Any idea? Thanks.

Is this limited to using one template? if so, what happens when you import that template into another project and use it there? If it still causes issues, it sounds like it has become corrupted and will need recreating. Out of interest, what is inside it. It would also be useful if you told us the RoboHelp version you are using.

Activate Save as Template in collaboration task list

Hi all,
I have created one task list and assigned to some users, now i want to use this task list as a template for my room. But in the default task list "Save as Template" button disabled. Now i want to activate this button then only i have save this task list as a template. How can i activate it. I am using EP7 and SP13. Help appreciated.

There is no magic button. You're not missing anything.
In CP4 you were able to open a .cp file and Save As .cptl. That's been the way it worked from version 1 to 4.
But Cp5 doesn't work the same way. You can't save a .cptx file as .cptl template in Cp5.
The workflow now is File > New Project > Project Template. You have to begin each new template from scratch.
I find it annoying too, but I think it's been done this way because Cp5 templates have some extra functionality built in that just isn't present in the normal .cptx files (e.g. placeholders). I'm hoping we can get the old workflow re-instituted for Cp6.
If your Cp4 designer is still using Cp4, he/she can turn them into cptl files and then send them to you to upgrade them straight to Cp5 template format.
The other workaround you can do in Cp5 is simply to create a new .cptl file at the same dimensions as your .cptx and then copy/paste the slides you want over into the template. A bit more work than Save As perhaps, but at least it then means you can end up with a template file for future use.

Prompt to save Sequential Model; Not desired.

When Saving one of my TestStand applications, I get prompted to Save the SequentialModel.seq. I have never saved changes to the sequence model and do not want to.
What do I has to be done to this application so it uses the untouched Sequence model AND not prompt to save changes to the Sequential Model?

Hi,
Since you never saved the sequential model my guess is that the test sequence you are having could be creating this issue.
Try this :
Open TestStand and open a new sequence (dont open your test sequence).Save.Do you still get the prompt to save sequential model?
If no then problem maybe with the test sequence.
If yes then simply repair TestStand.
Normally this happens when one of the types (common to your test sequence and NI types) version is incremented in your test sequence.
When you load your test sequence in TestStand it automatically detects that the types present in sequential model is of a lower version and prompts to save it.Its a feature not an issue.
You can use this tool to resolve the type differences:

Convert your test sequence to be compatible with the sequential model and this should resolve the issue.

Reusable prompt to save changes component

Using jsf/adf 10.1.3.4. I've implemented a reusable prompt to save changes component as described in john's blog (http://stegemanoracle.wordpress.com/page/3/). In that blog he mentions some questionable/buggy behavior regarding the dialog framework. Specifically, there's an issue with using something other than partialSubmit="true" on the component that launches the dialog box. Using something other than partialSubmit="true" on the button/link results in not being able to navigate in the return listener of the dialog. I think I'm a victim of a similar issue and wanted to see if there were any ideas/suggestions.
I'm launching my dialog using partialSubmit = "true" on the commandButton and my navigation (in the return listener) is not working in a certain scenario. I think what is causing the navigation not to work is the fact that on my page I have an input text that fires a value change listener method, which means the autoSubmit property on that inputText is set to 'true'. If the user changes a value in that inputText (w/o tabbing out of that field) and immediately clicks the button that launches the dialog, the navigation after dialog closes doesn't happen. If I change the inputText value, then tab out (firing the autoSubmit), then click the button that launches the dialog, navigation occurs properly when the dialog closes. Am I stuck with this limitation or is there some workaround? I was also curious as to whether this type of thing has been addressed in the latest 11g version, as we're thinking about migrating our apps soon. Thanks.

11g has capability for this behaviour out-of-the-box, so no need to use my approach there. I was never able to find a satisfactory solution in 10.1.3.x to the issues described.

Hi,
We are having problem viewing dashboard which contains Xcelsius document. In our development server we were able to view all dashboards with embedded Xcelsius document but when we move it to our production server it shows different output. Everytime we try to view the dashboard it keeps on prompting a "Save As Dialog" instead of showing the Xcelcius file. I really have no idea on what to do next, please help.

its an issue of macromedia flash player, if you already installed it on ur machine, remove it and reinstall the last version from the macromedia website thenrestart your mcahine.

Hi I've got the same problem. When trying to use the Bex Report Designer I get this error message: "Java communication error: RFC destination not_configured does not exist". Error when loading query metadata. Check query and portal settings.

When I open Firefox (with Google as home page), I get prompted to save a file (application/octet-stream)

This is my mother's computer. It's an HP Pro something. It has Win 7 Pro and Firefox is up to date. I'm not sure when this started because she doesn't use it every day. We can't get to Google at all using Firefox. I even tried a new tab just now and I get prompted to save a file (earlier the file it is prompting to save is NFRC_FLE13007-1A-RD_3300_SN_CIG_IS20_i89.pdf [the two dashes might be underscores - can't read my own writing!] Now it doesn't show me the file name). I tried using bing to search for this file name and didn't get any results.
I already tried clearing the cache and also resetting the browser using CTRL-F5. I've rebooted after that too. No changes...
I have not cleared cookies - I think she relies on a lot of them and I don't want to get her more confused!
Also, I've set up a number of "shortcuts" on her desktop so she can go directly to some websites. One is for Yahoo, one is for WebMD, etc. When I click on these, I do not have the issue. Seems to be related only to Google. Okay, just tried Google Maps and the same thing happens... And same thing happens with GMail. I captured the window, see the attachments..

p.s. I occasionally (on my computer) get prompted to save a file in Firefox when I hit the back button. I just say cancel and then do it again and everything is fine. I don't know if this is related either. I have Win 8.1 on a Lenovo laptop.

Try to boot the computer in [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows Safe Mode with network support] (press F8 on the boot screen) open firefox and see if that happens again.
