PDFMaker Files Missing Suddenly - Is there a fix?

after last update suddenly get missing pdfmaker files do you want to run the installer in repair mode when trying to make a pdf.  I've already spent a good amount of time on google and nothing i've tried seems to fix the problem.
Running Win 7 Pro 64 bit w/all updates, Office 2010 Pro 32 Bit w/all updates, Adobe Acrobat Pro XI w/all updates
So far i have verified that the Acrobat pdf maker add in was enable in ALL office applications of which it already was enabled.
I also uninstalled Adobe, cleaned all things adobe from the registry, did a fresh install of adobe, ran all latest updates and still get the error msg.
If anyone has something else I can try, let me know.
Thanks

I had already done repair and a full re-install.
I actually just did powerful uninstall + reg/file cleanup of both acrobat and office 2010 then re-installed both after a reboot and it's now working!.  I think the key was re-installing office as well as adobe since just a clean install of adobe didn't work the first time.

I have a workstation that gets the "PDFmaker files missing" message whenever using acrobat to create a Excel 2003 file PDF.

I have seen may posts on this but have not seen a resolution.  Has this been resolved??  If so what is the solution??
Yes we can print to a PDF from Excel but the user wanted to just use Acrobat instead of having to load the files in Excel each time.

Having the same problem here.  Doing a repair install did not fix it.
Vista 32-bit with 9.4.4 acrobat installed.
I have a test machine that is also Vista 32-bit with 9.4.3 and confirmed that it indeed does work.  Going to update that machine and see if I can duplicate the issue.
Printing to PDF did work tho with 9.4.4.

  • Since upgrading to CS6, fxg exports from flash are missing elements, is there a fix?

With CS5.5 I could export vector art from Flash and open it in illustrator. Now with CS6  I cant do that without breaking everything apart if flash first. This can cause masks to be lost and is a lenghty and complicated process. If I don't break everthing apart not all the layers are imported on the fxg when opened in illustrator. Does anyone know of a solution for this?

Above is a screenshot of artwork in flash. Below is the result after exporting an fxg and opening in illustrator.
It does work if I go into the group and then export (or break everything apaprt so they are no longer in groups). Some files I work with have loads of grouped elements with layer masks making it very complex to break apart and export as fxg. Previous versions allowed export in one step, I could then unlock layers or show hidden layers in the illustrator file. The masks would be imported too.

    Hello Nigel.
Are you sure the Bookmarks you important are nowhere to be found? They should be stored in your bookmark manager, somewhere. To access the bookmark manager, go into ''Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks...''. Try searching there.
You can change their place from there too.

  • Missing PDFMaker file

Used Acrobat 8 Standard the last 2 years without problems. Now cannot creat a PDF file in Microdoft Excel, get always "Missing PDFMaker file"

We are using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI with Office 2010 and we are getting this same issue on some systems, not all. I have tried the uninstall/re-install of both products to no avail. also tried checing the Add-ins in office but PDF Maker is not disabled, In the trust center in outlook, checked there  and it is not disabled there, Manually registered the file pdfmofficeaddin.dll succesfully, but this did not fix the problem and tried running the repair function from programs and features. As I mentioned before, This is not on all systems, but it is on several.

  • I keep getting the error message "Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode"

I keep getting the error message "Missing PDFMaker files  Do you want to run the installer in repair mode"when I try to convert a file into a pdf.  I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling but I continue to get the message.  I am able directly print file, but there are some errors in the pages, but some of them have font errors. Please advise.

    Hey Suzanne,
Could you please let me know what Acrobat version are you using and what kind of file are you trying to convert to PDF.
If you are using an MS Office application, then PDF Maker has to be an active plug-in for the PDF conversion.
Have you tried using Print to PDF option from the File menu for the same?
Please check and then let me know.

  • Acrobat 7.0 Missing PdfMaker files and won't pdf files

    Hi,
I have Acrobat 7.0 standard edition and I'm running it on Windows XP with MS Office 2003.
The icons to automatically create PDF from MS Word does not appear and when I look for them on the toolbars menu they are not there.
So I open Acrobat and click create pdf, but midway it tells me that it is missing some pdfmaker files and do I want to run it on repair mode.
I click yes, but that does not solve the issue.
I have tried uninstalling and removing the whole program and that did not help.
I even removed all the activation information and reinstalled it and reactivated it and no luck.
I have also downloaded the latest update from adobe and still no luck.
    Please help if you can

I have had this problem with nearly every version of Adobe Acrobat up to and including 9.0
Here are four things I do to resolve this issue in order of time/difficulty:
First, I made sure that the Adobe Acrobat plug-in wasn't disabled.
In any Microsoft Product such was Word, Excel, etc.  go to Help>About Microsoft (Word/project, etc) and then click on the 'disabled items' button.
If the plug-in is disabled, select it and enable it again.
Second,  I make sure the PDFMaker files are registered.
I open a command prompt and navigate to the PDFMaker plug-in dll files in Adobe.
In Adobe Acrobat 8.0  the file path is:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\PDFMaker\Office
    I then type in:
    regsvr32 PDFMOffceAddin.dll
That should enable the Office PDFMaker plug-ins.
Third, I make sure that the AcroDist.exe application path was configured properly in the registry.
If it isn't, I just create it.
    Registry path:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
    Look for the entry "AcroDist.exe"
If not there, create it - it is a 'Key". (right click on App Paths and choose New>Key)
In the AcroDist.exe  key the (Default) value should be:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\AcroDist.exe
    or
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\AcroDist.exe
depending on which version of Adobe Acrobat you have.  Essentially you put the absolute path for the AcroDist.exe file in there.
The only other entry in the AcroDist.exe key should be the String Value Path.  If it isn't there, create it  (right click and choose New>String Value)
The name of the String Value should be Path and the value should be the path of the AcroDist executable.   e.g.:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\
    or
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\
Close out the registry and try to use the PDFMaker again
If that still doesn't work then I run a repair on Adobe.  If THAT doesn't work then I completely uninstall/reinstall.

  • Installed Adobe Pro X now unable to convert PDF - Missing PDFMaker Files

    Hello,
I installed the trial version of Adobe Pro X and now I am unable to convert a Microsoft Word.doc file to .pdf.  The error message is 'Missing PDFMaker Files.  Do you want to run the installer to repair mode?'  I ran the installer, twice, with the same resulting error message.  (Am currently using Windows XP Pro along with Microsoft 2003 - and will upgrade in the new year.)  I searched this issue, and found the following:
To manage your Disabled Items list in a Microsoft Office application:
Open the Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, Publisher).
Choose Help > About [the application name].
    Click Disabled Items.
Select Adobe PDF from the list, and then click Enable.
Quit the Microsoft Office application, and then restart it.
However, there are no applications in the list, including Adobe.
    I also tried this:
If the error message continues to appear after you enable Adobe PDF, check the security level for macros in Microsoft Word:
Choose Tools > Macro > Security.
In the Security dialog, click the Security tab.
    Choose Medium or High.
    Do one of the following:
If you chose Medium, then click OK.
If you chose High, then continue with steps 5 through 7.
    Click the Trusted Publishers tab.
Check Trust all installed add-ins and templates.
    Click OK.
And Adobe is already there, so no change here.
I have uninstalled the trial version, deleted what visible remnants I could find, restarted the computer, installed the trial version again and am getting the same error message.
Is there a solution to this problem?  Or, should I just return to my Adobe Pro 7?
    Thank you in advance!
    Laura

I recently bought and installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro thinking that X Pro was compatable with Windows XP. I am unable to convert any Microsoft Office 2003 file into a PDF. I receive the same error message as above ( "Missing PDFMaker Files") and tried running it in repair mode as suggested. No change.
    I've tried this stuff:
    Click OK.
    But there is no change.
    Please help!!!

  • Acrobat X bug - stuck in cycle - "missing pdfmaker files" "do you want to run the installer"

    Hello,
I just installed Acrobat X on a Windows 7 X 64 with office 2010 x 64 install.    I can print from within office to PDF, however if I right click on a document in explorer and attempt to convert to PDF without opening office, I get "missing pdfmaker files" "do you want to run the installer in repair mode" right after I give it a file name.   If ignore, it won't print.   If I try to fix by running the installer in repair mode, it does some install process but it still gives me the same error.   Nothing shows up in the event viewer.  I tried to run an acrobat update but is says no updates are available.  I have tried uninstalling and downloading the trial version - it has the same issue

    Acrobat X PDFMaker supports 32-bit Office 2010.
With 64-bit Office 2010 you should be able to use the Adobe Printer; but, for PDFMaker functionality you'll need Office 2010 32-bit.

  • Missing PDFMaker-files - Acrobat 7.0 / Office 2010

    Hi,
I have a problem to create PDF files from Office documents.
    Acrobat Professional 7.1.0
    Microsoft Office Professional 2010
I get the error message "missing PDFMaker files".
Office 2010 is a new installation. With my old Office 2003 I had no problems.
I tried to activate/deactivate the Office Add-ins and change the security options.
I tried to register the PDFMOfficeAddin.dll in my system32 folder (I can't register the other DLLs).
I tried to contact the telephone support, but my version is too old.
Does anyone know what I can do? Or do I need an update?
    Thanks!

I had this problem on a Vista PC.
I only required Excel to work. but im sure its a similar process for Word etc.
I was still able to make PDF's with the 'Adobe PDF' printer function.
    Click File
    Click Options
    Click Add-Ins
Select 'Acrobat PDF Maker Office .COM Addin'
From the Dropbox at the bottom select "Excel Addins"
    - Click Go
    - UN-SELECT Any Acrobat or PDFMaker listing
From the Dropbox at the bottom select "COM Addins"
    - Click Go
    - Check the box "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" IS selected
    - If NOT.. Click Add and browse to
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll"
    - If your version is NOT 10.0 it will be a different folder ie 7.0 8.0 etc
From the Dropbox at the bottom select "Disabled Items"
    - Click Go
    - Make sure PDFMaker is NOT disabled
This fix may seem trivial however i spent a long time working on this problem.
    I tried different versions
    I manually removed Acrobat http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400658.html
    I updated Office
I played with Macro security settings in Office
I tried different PDF settings in Distiller
    All of this did nothing.
Remove it from the Excel Add-in
Leave it in the COM Add-in
I had no problems with Windows 7. Just Vista
I hope this works for someone else too.

  • HELP! ERROR MESSAGE: Missing PDFMaker Files

    Hello-
My Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 has been running perfectly fine for over a year now. However, today I went to create a pdf. and I received the following error message:
    Missing PDFMaker Files
Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?
So I said yes, and then restarted my computer. That didn't fix it.
I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Professional and re-installed it. That didn't fix it.
I really have no idea what to do. It's extremely frustrating because I have CS2 and the phone support people said they couldn't help me because I don't have the newer version. I'm looking for any sort of solution to this problem because it makes this program virtually useless.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • CS3 Error Msg: Missing PDFMaker Files...

    Hi,
I installed CS3 and when I tried to use Acrobat Pro I got the following error message:
" Missing PDFMaker Files.  Do you want to run in the repair mode?"
If I say "yes" nothing happens.  If I say "no" nothing happens.  What can I do to use my software?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
    Kathy

As Bill stated, you can print to PDF using the Adobe PDF printer. No "interactive" features with this. Just page content painted to the PDF.
Or, with Office 2010, try the Save As PDF capability.
If you desire the use of PDFMaker you most change to Acrobat X. Update it to 3.1.0.
    Acrobat X (3.1.0) PDFMaker supports Office 2010 64-bit.
    See: See: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html
n.b,. Don't know, but, there may be possible issues with Acrobat X integration (if any) with the other applications of CS3.
You'd want to ask about this in the CS forums.
    Be well...

  • Acrobat X: Missing PDFMaker files

    Hi,
    just installed Acrobat X on my Win7 x64 and Office 2010 x64.
Whenever I open a .doc file I get this message: Missing PDFmaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode.
I have tried the repair. Didn't work.

I am here because I have the same problem.  And I am not happy about it.
Yes, you can open your Office 2010 product and save or print to pdf, but it is your office product doing the work, not Adobe.  This is NOT a solution and I give it absolutely no points.  It is a workaround and terribly inefficient.  We don't even need to own this product since Office 2010 is making the pdf's for us and not Adobe.  We should not even be experiencing this problem.
    I agree with bob22590 -- this is not 1910!
So, Adobe, when do you expect to fix this major defect?  I upgraded a perfectly good working copy of Acrobat that's only shortcoming was that it didn't work with Office 2010.  Well, frankly this upgrade is no better except that I am out a lot of $$.
I have been an avid and loyal paying fan of Adobe for years.  Please assure us that the problem is being fixed.
    Thank you,

I am using itunes 10.5. Update didnt work on last software but restore did work. Help

After two days of attempts, Google & Apple searches, one Apple post stated to turn off all firewalls and virus software and keep trying since there were 6 gazillion people trying to update.  I have Windows 7 & Kaspersky and had to diable every single safety feature in Kaspersky as well as Firewalls and it finally allowed the download and update attempt.
Glancing at the forum, there appears to be numerous other problems with missing pictures, text problems etc after the IOS5 download but fortuneately, everything seems ok so far.  Good luck, it is frustrating!  Hattie47

After upgrading to ios6 my iphone will not open .xls files in emails with the default viewer. Is there a fix for this? The same emailed .xls files still open on my ipad using ios5 while viewing email like they did on my iphone prior to upgrading. I have no special software like numbers or anything else installed on either device. Just using the default viewer provided by apple for viewing email.

The attachment is an .xls excel 97-2003 spreadsheet. I viewed the file in the email and did not edit it with any software. I can forward the file to anyone that is may want to check it out to see if they can help me. I was wondering if there was some way of forcing another ios6 install on my phone and maybe that would solve it.
Is there anyone out there that is viewing .xls files in email using ios6 w/o any other software installed like numbers or any other add ons? I am not upgrading my ipad from ios5 to ios6 so I can still continue to view the emails on my ipad. Is there an email viewer .xls plug-in that will be availablle in the next ios6 update?
