PDFMaker Portfolios

How do you copy or move emails from a PDF Portfolio to another PDF Portfolio when both were created from the Outlook PDFMaker add-in?  Dragging and dropping the emails will change the cursor to a Plus sign indicating that the files should be copied, but nothing actually happens.  I've tried in Acrobat X & XI, both Standard and Pro versions.
A work-around would be to export from the original portfolio and then dump those into the second portfolio, but when this is done, all of the meta-data is lost (e.g. sent, subject, date, from, etc).
Any help is appreciated.

Acrobat X 10.2 is compatible with AutoCAD 2011 in 32-bit mode, but there is no 64-bit version of the PDFMaker plugin for AutoCAD.
Sorry but we cannot confirm or deny what may be in future versions.

  • Edit portfolio button somehow disabled

    Hi experts~
As shown in above screenshot, my edit portfolio button is somehow disabled. I can't remove emails from my portfolio.
I remembered to use this button before......
The portfolio is create from OUTLOOK 2010 using Acrobat Suite Profession 10.0.
I installed it from SCCM server using enterprise license. Would it be some sort of policy pushed from server?
How do I check if there's something wrong?
    Many Thanks!

You can't edit the Portfolios created by the PDFMaker email client plugins. The use a special layout which isn't available inside Acrobat itself.

  • Cannot Append to Portfolio Not Created in Outlook

I am using Adobe Pro 9 and created portfolios of Lotus Note emails. Our organization has changed to Outlook and when I attempt to append new emails to the existing portfolios I get an error message "PDFMaker cannot append to the selected Adobe PDF archive because it was not created in Outlook PDFMaker.  Is there anything I can do to append to the existing portfolio created with Lotus Notes PDFMaker? The Adobe software has not changed.

Yes, I am running the latest iPhone software. I just checked to make sure, but the "Edit" option still does not show for items I created in Outlook on the phone.
I am wondering if this has something to do with my syncing between two different machines. At home, I sync to a G5 iMac, but at work I sync to an XP machine. The phone was activated through the iMac.
I know that calendar items created by someone else are not allowed to be edited by others in Outlook, so I wonder if the iPhone thinks I am not the originator of the items?

  • Editing an Outlook Email Portfolio

    It was stated by Dave Merchant on Jan 20, 2011, the following;
PDF Portfolios created using the Outlook PDFMaker plugin in Acrobat X are not *currently* editable. This is a technical implication of the style of Portfolio navigator applied to the file, so while it does not have any security, the Edit button is disabled and there are no add/delete file buttons. It should be fixed in a later build though I can't make any promises.
I'm using Adobe XI Pro and the bug is still there along with not being unable to change the style. This seems to be an issue with Adobe X and XI when creating email portfolios in both Lotus Notes and Outlook as I have created several portfolios where these tools use to work in Adobe 9 Pro.
I'd like to go back to using Adobe 9 Pro but I had to upgrade to XI in order to use Outlook for printing multiple emails from Gmail.
Yeah, there's a lot here, just want to know if Adobe plans on sending out a hotfix any time soon?

    Hi Dave and "pdminer51",
This is a known issue with opening Email archived PDF Portfolios in Acrobat X, that were created using Acrobat 9/X.
To delete mail(s)/mail folder(s) you'd need to select them using the mouse cursor/keyboard and then press the DELETE key.
As to "In AX 10.0 you cannot use the keyboard shortcuts with a PDF Portfolio created from Outlook", keystrokes do continue to work upon Email archives opened in Acrobat X. UP/DOWN keys can be used to scroll through the mail list(s) and/or to add/edit filters.

  • When will Adobe update their PDFMaker to work with IBM Notes 9?

We are an IBM Lotus Notes shop and we utilize the PDFMaker to convert our emails into PDF Portfolios on a regular basis.  There are many features that Notes 9 brings us over Notes 8.5x and we wish to upgrade our users, but we found out that there isn't a version of PDFMaker that is currently compatible with Notes 9.  Notes 9 has been out for several months now and I'm curious to know when Adobe is planning on releasing and update to address this.
    Thanks,
    Lucas

Clarification: this is a user forum; you are not addressing Adobe here.
The answer to your question as phrased is: never.
CS5 is history and it is not longer supported.  There will not be any updates or bug fixes for CS5.
You need to convert the raw NEF files from your D810 to raw DNGs using the free, standalone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 RC (beta), the first version ever to support that camera..

  • Problems appending email pdfs to existing portfolios using Outlook plugin.

I'm trying to use the outlook pdfmaker plugin that comes with Acrobat X Pro to append Outlook 2010 emails to an existing portfolio.  I'm getting this error: "PDFMaker cannot append to the selected Adobe PDF archive because it was not created in Outlook PDFMaker."  Surely there must be some way to store emails with the rest of the files in an existing portfolio created without the plugin.  Otherwise this is a showstopper.  The whole point of a portfolio is to collect all of the files for a project in one place!  I don't want to have one portfolio containing all the emails and another portfolio containing all of the rest of the files.  That would be dumb.
I thought that I could achieve a paperless office by scanning snail mail and other files to pdf and collecting them in correspondence portfolios on my hardrive.  My plan was to append emails to the previously-created correspondence portfolios as the emails are received.  I can't believe I can't do this!

The problem stems from the order in which you are performing the tasks.  The Portfolios that are created by Outlook and Lotus notes collect specific metadata that corresponds to the particular email format.  These fields do not exist in Portfolios created by simply combining files into a Portfolio in Acrobat, and can't be created after the fact.  So that's the cause.  You can think of it them as "email Portfolios" and "regular Portfolios."
As far as a solution, since you don't appear to be relying on those metadata fields, anyway, the most expedient workaround would be to go ahead and convert your Outlook 2010 email to a temporary Portfolio, then drag the individual files outside of the Portfolio to a temporary location.  Then, open your existing Portfolio, which doesn't contain the metadata fields, and drag your Outlook email from the temporary location into the Portfolio.  Problem solved.  The appearance of the PDF-converted email remains unchanged, and the files are now in the single location you were ultimately after.
For more sophisticated manipulation of PDF-converted email Portfolios, including attachments, you could look into a third party plug-in from Evermap called AutoPortfolio.  It possesses some very powerful, flexible functionality in that regard.
Disclosure:  I have no affiliation of any kind with Evermap, but did address the use of several of their products in my book, "The PDF Litigation Guide."
    Hope that helps!

  • Linking Portfolios

Can I link 2 versions of a portfolio. For example the one I am working on linked to the master copy stored on other media?
    Many thanks

    Number 1:
When you create a portfolio of pdf documents, can you remove documents later.
    --| Yes.
    Number 2:
Can you create hyperlinks between pdf documents within a portfolio?
--| Yes. Working from within a Portoflio you can create links from one PDF to another PDF in said Portfolio.
In fact, if you want to use links between PDFs in a Portfolio, this is the only way to do it.
Inter-file links between PDFs that are made prior to placing the PDFs into the Portfolio will no longer function
once the PDF files are in a Portfolio. Essentially, files in a Portfolio are attachments to the "host" Portfolio PDF
which provides the Portfolio user interface. As attachments within a PDF the link path for inter-file links (established when the PDFs where
stand alone) is no longer valid.
If so, is this done in Word before converting to pdf,
--| With proper configuration of Adobe PDFMaker the intra-file Hyperlinks will become intra-file links in the PDF.
These will be present and functional in the PDF after the PDF has been brought into the Portfolio.
or do you create the bookmarks and links after you create the pdf?
--| With proper configuration of Adobe PDFMaker, PDF Bookmarks (in the output PDF) can be made from Word's
        Headings &/or Styles.
These PDF Bookmarks, to content within the PDF, will be present and
functional when the PDF is brought into the Portfolio.
    Be well...

  • E-Mail Portfolios

Is it possible in Acrobat X to add e-mail portfolios together into oneportfolio file?
It appears that Adobe's relationship with Microsoft Outlook is unique in the
way that it converts e-mails into a portfolio not seen anywhere else. I have
tried to "combine" those e-mail portfolios using Adobe Pro, but the finished
product does not look anything like the individual portfolio.  Also, I
cannot see a way to manually insert e-mails from one e-mail portfolio into
another (cut and paste/insert pages, etc.).

Sorry but the Portfolios created by the PDFMaker plugins for email clients use a layout (NAV file) which isn't accessible to Acrobat. Because of that, Acrobat cannot enter edit mode and if you try to combine the member files they'll pick up one of the defaults instead.

  • Filename in PDF portfolio?

Sorry for what I'm sure is an easy(lame) question.
I don't want to show the filename when creating a PDF portfolio and I've hunted for the answer without any luck.
How do I only show the image or show a custom text/ title but not the XXXXX.jpg filename?
    thx!
    > just to clarify.... when viewing a PDF portfolio of images I don't want to show the image filename below the image.

    Hi,
I've been trying to hide the file name myself. It seems intuitive that, while in the Modify area of the PDF Portfolio, under "Specify File Details" that one would simply unclick "Name" under "Columns to Display".
But all that seems to do is hide it while I'm within the Modify section. I save and go back to view the pdfs and there are the file names.
Anyone out there know the answer? Even if it's just a link to more info, that would be great. I need to get this out but without the filenames. I've searched in Google but no good info.
BTW, the Description option is a nice touch and shows upon immediate hover. That's why I don't need to show a file name. Plus, you can write more in the description than is viable/sensible in a file name.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Link to A folder View in a PDF Portfolio - feature no longer working - please advise

Hi, I am no longer able to link to a Folder View of a PDF Portfolio:
Within a PDF portfolio i need to link from a PDF to a folder view in the Portfolio. I am using Link Action - Go to Page View.
This used to work for me - very important feature that no longer works. Please advise a workaround.
    Steps:
    1. Start a PDF Portfolio that contains files and folders
    2. Open a PDF in the Portfolio
    3. in the opened PDF click Add or Edit Link
    4. Define a link area and set it to Go To A Page Vies
    5. In the past i have been able to target a Folder View in the Portfolio - ie. direct a user not to a file, but instead to a folder view that contains relevant files. I would do this by setting the Target Page View to my desired folder view
    6. This used to work in bringing a user to the folder view i specify. Now it does nothing. If i go back to the PDF and EDIT the Link i see this. File: Parent Document Page 1. This in fact does nothing.
Please advise, am i doing this wrong, it used to work. I have tried several workarounds, with no luck.
    thanks!

There's an extension or two, or a combination of extensions which seem to be causing that in Firefox 6.0.2. One that has been mentioned is TabMix Plus.
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You need to figure out what is causing it, and disable that extension/s until they are fixed by their developer.

  • How do I change the order of files and documents in adobe acrobat 9, in the Portfolio??

I have been searching for 3.5 hours now and can't find the answer to this. Please help! I have created a portfolio in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, which has three files and three documents, the last step is just to arrange them in the right order. If you can please list step by step.
    THANK YOU!!!!!!
    Heart

I think you can remove suggestions from the address bar by arrowing down to the unwanted site on the auto-suggest drop-down list and pressing Delete.
Make sure to arrow to another site or edit the address before pressing Enter or using Go, because that deleted URL will still be the address bar.
    Does that work?

  • Changing the order for printing portfolio files in adobe acrobat 9 pro

Does anyone know how to change the order for printing pdf files that are part of a portfolio in adobe acrobat 9 pro?  The documentation seems to say that it prints files alphabetically by filename rather than by the internal sort order.  This won't work for me. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Question1: No.
    Question2: No.

  • PDF portfolio works in what versions?

How do I know what versions or Acrobat or Reader my PDF portfolio will work in?
    Will it work in reader?

PDF Portfolios will work in both Acrobat and Reader 9.
    In addition,
"By default, PDF Portfolios created in Acrobat 9 will open in earlier  versions of Acrobat and Reader and the PDF Portfolio will make the best  use of the features available to it. When opened in version 8, the PDF  Portfolio will act like a PDF Package and in version 7 and 6, the  contents will appear as attachments"

  • PDF portfolio - how do i update or replace pdf files in portfolio

I created a pdf portfolio using the map feature where i drag the pdf's onto the image.
But now, after i have all the pdf's in the portfolio, i want to replace/update some of the pdf files.
I can't see an option anywhere to do this?
    Is it possible???
    Thanks

In the Find window (Ctrl+F) there's an option to replace the searched text.
This is in Acrobat XI, and there's no Replace All-function.

  • PDF portfolio view in Adobe reader

    Hi,
I recently created a PDF portfolio for a co-worker using Acrobat 9.0 Pro. I used the Grid with File Preview layout and added a header that appears right above the grid. Everything works well except that when my co-worker opens the PDF portfolio in Adobe Reader,  I think it's 9.0, the preview pane takes up most of the screen so that the grid and header are barely visible. Of course, all my co-worker has to do is move the divider over to the right so that the divider is around the middle of the screen, then he can clearly see the complete grid along with the header.
Is there anyway to make my PDF portfolio open up in Reader so that the dividing line is right in the middle between the grid and preview pane so that the grid and header are clearly visible without having to move the divider? Also, I encountered the same problem when I tried to use a welcome window. In Acrobat 9.0, the welcome window is dead center over the grid and the preview pane is invisible unless I click to proceed. However, when I open the PDF portfolio in Reader, the welcome window only appears in the grid section and again, the gird section is mostly covered up by the preview pane.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
