.PDFs are Rotating to Landscape & Printing On 1/ 2 of Page (updated)

[editted 9/4/13 for clarity and image]
I have the same 9 Standard on two laptops.  No printing problems at  all on one laptop (Vista OS) but on the other (Windows 7), all .pdf  documents are printing turned to landscape mode with the document  printed on one side of the page, alternating between sides on subsequent pages (image below - page 1  on right, page 2 on left...).  I hope that makes sense.  This only only  started within the last two months.
With only one computer impacted, this seems like a software setting issue (or something unique to Windows 7) but I'm stumped?
P.S.  When selecting the print command, the image in the <Preview: Composite> box is accurate.
Help, please!!
(Printer:  Xerox Phaser 8560DN)

Thanks, Daniel.
To clerify...  Only one Acrobat copy installed on the machine impacted (Acrobat installed on TWO machines).  Only one machine (Win 7) seems to be doing this - other machine (Vista box) has not done this.
I've looked at the Printer settings a hundred times.  Letter; Portrait; 1-Sided Print; 1-Pages Per Sheet; Booklet Layout (NOT checked);...
Acrobat is the only software that is impacted.  And the is not defaulted to booklet (again, other computer prints .pdf fine).

I was having this described problem using Acrobat 9 so I upgraded to XI Pro and the problem STILL persists so I am reposting this discussion post-upgrade.  Thank you for your help.
I have XI Pro on two different computers: A Vista box and a WIndows 7 box.  The problem only exists on the 7 box.
For whatever reason all .pdf documents print in what looks like a book format (image below), i.e., printing on one side of the page, alternating between sides on subsequent pages.  I hope this make sense?

  • Upgraded to CS5 and duplex landscape printing if way off

Since upgrading to Indesign CS5 from actually CS2, I cannot get landscape duplex printing to align properly (centered as it is on screen). I have troubleshooted the Print Setup dialog box to death and nothing fixes this issue. I've tried Centered, Centered Vertically, Centered Horizontally, I've tried to scale down to fit, nothing works properly. I've gone through and checked the Printer... options as well and nothing seems amiss there either. Why would updating from a previous version mess with the printer alignment?
I made a brand new 8.5x11 document with 2 pages with .25" margins all the way around which is my printer's smallest margin setting (Xerox 8560DN). I then simply drew a box around the entire document right along the margins on both sides.
When I print it, the front side is shifted over to the left so it prints 5/32 of an inch from the edge and the right margin is 11/32 from the edge. The back side is a bit less shifted to left with 7/32 and 9/32 margins.
I then tried printing a sheet that is in portrait mode and this comes a bit closer to with both sides off at the 7/32 and 9/32 margins.
I really need help figuring this out. The document that I need printed has a perforation going down the center and is folded so these margin differences are really skewing the print outs.
    Thanks!
    Christi
Update: I tried exporting it as a PDF and making sure Shrink to fit option was NOT selected and it still prints with the same issues. Darn, I was hoping that would solve it.

I've been doing more troubleshooting since I wrote this post. I've now tried printing from a non-Adobe app and I'm getting the same margin error. So it is definitely a Xerox issue and I have a tech coming out on Monday.
The reason I originally figured it must be an CS5 issue is because just two weeks ago when I was using CS2, our landscape-oriented programs were printing with .25" margins as they should. Then last week after upgrading to CS5, the inside page (2nd page) was noticeably out of whack and shifted to the right (not left). But when I started trying to troubleshoot this week, everything started shifting to the left.
The only thing different between those two weeks was the fact I updated to CS5.
But obviously, my printer as decided to go to crap in more ways than one all in a two week period. Hopefully the tech can sort it out next Monday.
    Thanks!

  • Page 2 and beyond pages are rotated when printed

When printing multiple page landscape documents from InDesign CS5 to our Canon Imagerunner C4080, everything after page 1 is rotated 90 degrees. So far all I can do is print one page at a time. This happens on all docs, newly created as well as converted from CS4 and CS3.
Drivers freshly installed with the OS. All other applications work fine. PDFs are fine.
OS X 10.6.4 on brand new iMac.
    Any ideas?

There are a few Bugs in Firefox that causes that to happen. I have been waiting 8 1/2 years for those Bugs to be fixed.
Probably caused by one of these three Bugs: <br />

  • How can I set Firefox to print to PDF, the only otions I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

A couple of weeks ago, from the file menu, in my print options was to print a web page to PDF, that facility is no longer there. does anyone know how can I set Firefox to print to PDF.
The only options I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

Firefox generally displays the printers in Windows' Printers folder (Start orb > Devices and Printers). If it is missing one of the printers listed there, could you indicate which one it is, for example, Adobe Distiller, PrimoPDF, CutePDF Writer, etc.?
If you previously had an add-on which added print-to-PDF functionality just to Firefox, perhaps it got disabled. You could check here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, are you really running Firefox 8.0.1? That version from last November is no longer secure and has been superseded by Firefox 11. If you browse the web widely, you should update for your security.

I have the same problem with lectures slides.
Furthermore, sometimes the text box, when doube-clicking, turns  the text into a one-liner. Causing the text box to sometimes get 3. times wider than the pdf itself.

By pressing [cmd + I] the Inspector opens up and clicking on the rightmost tab 'Annotations' you should be able find those Annotations again. I do this regularly to find the empty annotations I accidentally create while clicking through slides.

  • Why are my pics being automatically rotated from landscape to potrait??

Background: I use a Nikon D90. I have used a Windows machine up until this week, and never had this issue. I spoke with customer service for over an hour trying to resolve this issue, fail. I take pictures of guitars. Every single picture is a landscape picture. I have set Image Capture as my default program to import pictures. When I connect the camera, the program turns all the pictures of guitar necks to portraits. iPhoto did the same, I use Image Capture because I can set a destination for my import. This is the issue. _I want to import my pictures exactly how I take them, all in landscape._
The windows machine never did this. I'm positive it isn't an issue with the camera. Out of all the pictures, it only does this with the guitar necks. I think the Mac is trying to "help" me by rotating my pictures for me. But they aren't pics of trees and they don't need rotated.
    What do you guys think?
Can I attach a screenshot? I don't see an option...

I've used windows machine in the past, with the same camera and a few different import programs, and have never had this issue before.
Do those machines/programs support the auto-rotation feature of your camera? That is, if you take a picture in portrait orientation, do they show it rotated?
I'm not sure why the images of the neck are rotated... if, as you say, you took this photo in landscape orientation, with the bottom of the camera toward the ground, then there's no reason for them to be rotated unless your camera has a feature to auto-rotate based on the image content. I'm not finding any documentation of such a feature in a Nikon D90, though I didn't look very thoroughly.
One question: I can't tell from the photos, but it looks like the ones showing the issue could have been taken from above. If that's the case, this could be your problem. If you were shooting from above and took a picture of the body, then moved the camera, then took a picture of the neck, that could cause what I'm seeing. Keep in mind that your camera's accelerometer has no way of knowing that acceleration from movement is different from acceleration of gravity. Sliding your camera to the right on a rig might fool the camera into thinking it was rotated 90° counterclockwise, as shown in the photos of the front of the guitar, and sliding the camera to the left on a rig could make it think it was rotated 90° clockwise, as shown in the photos of the back of the guitar. With the camera pointing straight down, gravity would not re-orient the accelerometer as soon as the movement stopped.
That's just a theory, I have no way of knowing whether the camera would actually behave as I describe.
Is this question in the right forum?
Probably... if you were using iPhoto, it would be better in the iPhoto forum, but you're using Image Capture, which makes it a little less clear-cut.

    Hi pintu777,
I see that you just got an ExportPDF subscription. That shouldn't have any affect on the way that your PDF files are printing. Has anything else changed on your system? What are you printing to and from (Reader or Acrobat)? Do other types of files print mirrored as well?
I look forward to  hearing back from you with a few more details. We'll get this sorted out.

  • Elements 8 [Mac IOS 10.9]:  4 X 6" borderless printing -- top and bottom 1" are cutoff in Portrait and right and left 1 " are cutoff in Landscape

I am using Elements 8 [with a recently installed Mac IOS 10.9] and a new Epson Artisan 1430 printer .  When I print 4" X 6" borderless photos, the top and bottom 1" are now cutoff in Portrait orientation and the right and left 1" are cutoff in Landscape orientation.  I do not have the same problem printing from iPhoto.  Epson tech support says this is not an Epson problem.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Maybe I should just install Elements 12 and see if this might solve the problem.  Any ideas?

When I import videos taken with my iPhone 4S to my Windows PC, some of the landscape videos are upside down and all of the portrait videos are rotated 90 degrees.  It makes a difference depending on what position I hold the Iphone when taking videos.  Help!!!!

Sometimes syncing will have problems with very large video files like this.  I'm not sure you will be able to overcome this, but if the videos are important enough you may consider purchasing 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer them.

  • 10.5 and Canon ImageRunner 6870U: No Landscape Printing!

A while back (see here), I got my office's Canon ImageRunner 6870U all set up to run on my PowerBook G4 running Tiger. Recently, I got a new computer (MacBook Pro) running 10.5.4, and set up the ImageRunner, and all seemed great.
Until I wanted to print in Landscape.
The Print Preview appears to work correctly. When I print to PDF, it generates a landscape-oriented page and everything looks right. But when I send to the printer, it seems to have put the page into landscape orientation, but printed it onto the page in portrait orientation (i.e., there's a big top and bottom margin, and the right side of the page is cut off). I looked on the ImageRunner itself, which can display a preview of the page to be printed, and it displays exactly what it eventually prints (the wrong orientation), which implies to me that it's a problem on the Mac end.
The problem was previously reported by another person back in January at MacOSXHints. However, it sounds like they were printing (to a different iR model) using SMB, which I'm not (I'm using Canon IP). In any case, it doesn't seem like the problem was resolved for them.
Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!
    --Mike

Based on John's reply about the Page Setup > Orientation not being saved within a preset, which I totally agree with, I was wondering how your preset would be showing the document preview in the correct orientation. The only thing I can conclude is that the file must have been created as a landscape document, because the preset will not influence the orientation if this is set via Page Setup. So how is your landscape document printing on portrait paper?
I did some testing with our iRC6870. I created a landscape document in Word and then saved it as a pdf. I then opened the pdf in Preview, which showed the document in landscape orientation, and printed it using a preset that have stapling and two-sided set. This document printed fine.
I then took the same document, and chose to print it to a cassette that had the paper loaded as A4R. This was the only way I could get the landscape document to print the same as your result, with the large border on the top and bottom.
So, could the presets also have a tray selection saved, and this tray currently has the paper loaded in a rotated (short-edge feed) orientation?
If this is not the case, you also mentioned that you can preview the document on the 6870, which shows the output you are getting. Since there is no ability for the Canon board to do this, then I believe you do have the imagePASS-G1 print controller, as this RIP does give you previews of printed jobs. I also believe that you may be able to select orientation via the Printer Features and this was set in the preset. Can you confirm this please.
