PDFs nach Scan automatisch durchsuchbar machen

Guten Tag,

  • PDF files scanned at B & W print to an HP 2055dn Postscript printer as white on black

PDF files scanned at B & W print to an HP 2055dn Postscript printer as white on black. Non postscript printers print the same file correctly. This is the case with three different scanners. Scanning the same sheets into greyscale prints fine with all printers.
HP claims it is not a problem with their printers. Someone from Fujitsu (makers of Scansnap) said to "
Verify that Advance Emit Transfer (print correction function for the Mac print table) is unchecked. Go to Print > Advanced Emit Transfer Function and click to uncheck. " but I can't seem to find anything like that at all.
I really prefer to scan in B & W, as I have to scan several hundred pages and the resulting file is both smaller and higher quality than the grayscale files, but I can't print them at home; I have to use the printer at work and that really isn't appropriate.

    Hi,
Can you try some experiments please - or tell us if you have tried them.
    1) Load a new image (one that hasn't been saved before) into the editor and without saving it, try printing from the editor. It is important that PSE hasn't saved it.
    2) Load any image into the editor and do a Save for Web (you may have to reduce the size) in JPG format and see if you can print that JPG either from PSE or another program.
Please let us know the results.

    Hi Florin,
I checked our order system, but don't see an order for you. Did you use a different email address to sign up? Or perhaps you signed up via the Reader Mobile app (those subscriptions are handled via the App store, so we don't have insight into them).
In any case, it can take several hours for a subscription to process fully.
If you're still having trouble logging in, please let us know.

this scanner is connected to a PC and is shared so we can see all documents, great but here begins the problem:
    1- scan documents
    2-select format type

Everything´s OK until that point, but when i try to see the documents scanned
This is what comes up when i try to see with adobe reader(no matter the versions):
ADOBE READER COULD NOT OPEN (name of the file) BECAUSE IT´S EITHER NOT A SUPPORTED FILE TYPE OR BECAUSE THE FILE HAS BEEN DAMAGED (IT WAS SENT AS A E-MAIL ATTACHMENT AND WASN´T CORRECTLY DECODED.
    NOTE 1:
If i save the file with only 1 page the file opens and i can see the documents but when i try more than one page comes up the error!!! And if try to send it over the net the receptor can not see it due to the same error!!!
    NOTE 2:
Rarely when i try to open the file with foxy reader it opens!!! without any problems.
I don´t know what´s the problem please help!!! It could be the way i´m saving the file? I just reinstalled the drivers and nothing!!! same old same

  • Cannot select text on a self-made pdf from scan

    I have Reader 9.5.2 on a Mac G4 with OS 10.4.11.
I scanned a page of a C18 German book printed in the old Gothic script and converted the scan to pdf. So this is not a case of permissions in a pdf document received from someone else. I want to convert the font to a modern one by selecting the relevant part of the text and inserting it into a Word or a TextEdit document or by using the 'Save as...text' facility in Adobe Reader in order to export the text to Word. If I can get the text into Word or TextEdit, I can then change the font. But I cannot select any text, nor export the text. As I have said, this is not a matter of permissions in a document received from someone else; the pdf document was made from my own scan. If anyone can help, I should be most grateful; it would save a great deal of typing.

Thanks for this. It seems logical that OCR for a family of typefaces (Gothic, Blackletter, Fraktur) that ceased to be used in most of Europe by the C18 or earlier, but was still used well into the C20 in Germany and Austria (it was still taught in the primary school in Vienna which I attended as a small boy before the war) would most likely only be available in Germany. I think it's going to be typing and not OCR for me!

  • Add multiple scans to the same pdf file scan at time of scanning

Hello, HP Officejet Pro 6830 How do I get it to add multiple scans to the same pdf file? I need to scan multiple documents and have them all end up in one pdf. Some may be double-sided and it is fine if I have to scan them individually. At present it will only do one scan or a double-sided scan then it wants to save the scan and not ask if there are any more pages. The only option is to save or not. Thank you.

After your first scan you need to click the + sign at the 7 o'clock position.

  • Trouble Printing PDF's scanned with Image Capture

OK this is a strange problem.  I have Macbook Pro and a Lexmark E230 laser printer which prints everything out just fine in safari, word, pages, numbers - anything except PDF's that are specifially scanned with the Image Capture application.
I printed four PDF's that were made from different sources, some just assembled JPEGs, one that was text printed from Pages, and another instruction manual randomly downloaded from the internet.  All printed fine.
My wife and I scan a lot for our home business and any PDF that we have scanned using Image Capture prints only the first page, then hangs, and then the rest of the document does not print.  If I try to print the second or other pages manually, I get an error printed on the page saying :
    ERROR: limitcheck
    OFFENDING COMMAND: image
    STACK:
    And the image partially prints.
I am aware of all driver issues, have tried using old drivers, completely reset the print system using the OPTION and ( - ) key in the printer system prefs.  I have also used the most up to date drivers, nothing seems to change this.  I am also aware of a printers limitations as far as using images or PDFs with a lot of memory.
The thing that makes me confused is that this all seemed to work perfectly before (in Lion) and even during the inital stages of Mountain Lion.  At some point (this is on my wife's computer), I'm not sure when the issues started exactly, I was unable to print PDFs scanned with Image Capture properly.
This used to work, now it doesn't.  Printer hasn't changed, types of documents haven't changed.  Any ideas?
    Thanks so much,
    Jim

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, bubblebanium!
I have experienced your problem on several occasions and found the culprit to be a corrupt font. Try selecting everything in the document and changing it to a font that you are certain prints. If the problem persists, try copying everything and paste it into a new document. If your document is several pages, try printing one page to hone in on the problem.
If the problem still persists, does your document have bullet items? If yes, and the bulleted items were created with the automatic bullet feature, then the problem may be the default font used for that feature (most likely the Symbol font).
To change to a different font, go to the Format menu, select Bullets and Numbering. Click on the style of bullets your document uses and then click the Customize button. In the next window, click on the shape of bullet your document uses and then click the Font button below. A Font window appears in which you can then select a different font. Afterwards, if the document prints, then the default font is probably corrupt and you may want to replace it with a good copy.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do i reduce the size of the pdf's scanned from my printer

i scan from my printer to a pdf.  the file comes across way to big (2mb for 4 pages with no pictures & just text, etc.)  i have already re-set the settings on my scanner / printer to try to get the smallest dpi & image possible.  how do i get to the settings on my adobe acrobat to reduce the size of the pdf when saved on my computer or is this not the right place to do that?

You may need to reset that to use higher scan quality for successful OCR.

  • Which Approach?---Scan into JPEGs and then save as PDF or scan into PDF?

I am now learning to use my Canon Pixma MX870. I installed the full suite of Canon printing, scanning, faxing and whatever else software they provide for this all-in-one.
There are several different ways you can approach things with this machine which makes it a little confusing. You can do things with a one touch kind of method or you can delve deeper into the menus and adjust lots of settings.
Right now I am working on scanning documents into PDFs. The Canon software lets me create multipage PDFs which is something I've been wanting to do. My question is, is it best to scan images as JPEGs and then save them as a multipage PDF or is it best to scan into PDF directly (which the scanner seems to offer as well) and then save as a multipage PDF? I'm thinking in terms of the best optimization of file size vs. image quality and things like that.
Is the scanner actually doing anything differently when scanning into JPEG vs. PDF? Or is the scanning all the same and it's just the saving of the file that is different?
In general what dpi setting is usually sufficient to use to scan a basic text document without taking up too much file space?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Steve M.

Maybe you don't need that. I prefer using Apple's Image Capture for scanning.

Let the software do it for you. That will be fewer steps for you. Image-based PDFs are going to be large. There is no way around that. If they are too large, you can use Preview's Save As feature and play around with the Quartz Filter.

Scans are scans. The JPEG file format is lossly and will look worse than other types. If you are scanning in photographs, the JPEGs will look good. If you are scanning in crisp text, JPEGS will have lots of artifacts and look bad.
In general what dpi setting is usually sufficient to use to scan a basic text document without taking up too much file space?
I pretty much always keep it at 300 unless I need something special or when the original is really small and I intend to blow it up.

  • How to select entire PDF document (scanned image content) and then edit?

I have a PDF file of a booklet that was created by scanning the pages as images. Whoever did the job aligned everything nicely, but for some reason ended up with an output where the pages are all too dark. The white parts of the pages are gray. I can go into the Advanced Editing toolbar and use the tool on the far right, right click the page and choose Select All, then Edit Image and it opens in Photoshop. There, I just change the brightness/contrast and save it. Then when I go back to the PDF the page looks great. Problem is, it only does one page at a time under the "Select All" option, and the booklet has more than 40 pages. Is there a way to select all the pages then edit them in Photosop all at once somehow?

I tried the other things suggested, but they didn't work, either. I ended up creating a new document and copying all of the text into the new document where it can be selected like normal. Go figure...

  • Creating PDF from scan

What are steps for getting OCR of scanned document so I can edit it?
After scanning document, it opens in Acrobat but doesn't seem to be editable, only comment-able.
How can I get document to be a mix of text and suporting images that I can edit, change font, size, content, etc of text, and resize, alter images, etc.?
Adobe Customer Support mentioned something about exporting or opening Acrobat document in MS Word then saving as PDF, but I can't seem to figure out a way to do this.

    Hi, Monique.
After recognizing (and saving) you can select the text and copy it as text (rather than graphic), right? Me, too. I'm running Acrobat 8 Pro.
But I've also been unable to actually edit the text in the PDF itself. Perhaps I'm missing something as well. Maybe someone else here will have some wisdom.
I've tried using the Touch Up Text tool from Tools-Advanced Editing; no joy. In Acrobat 8 Help I found this:
You can add or replace text only if the font used for that text is installed on your system. If the font isnt installed on your system but is embedded or subsetted in the PDF, you can make changes only to color, word spacing, character spacing, baseline offset, or font size.
Interestingly enough, I just tried this with a recognized-text PDF with Times font. I selected a character with the Touch Up Text tool, hit Delete, and the character remained. However, while I can still see the character in the document I can no longer select it with the Touch Up Text Tool. Hmm!

  • Merging PDF files scanned by a B110

Using a B110 I wish to scan a multi-paged document to produce a single PDF file containing all the pages.
At the time of scanning, I could not see an option in the Solution Centre to add a scan of a second, third, ... page to the first.
I am able to scan each page to a PDF document, which gives me many files, each containing a single page.  However I can not find a way to combine them to one PDF document.
A Google search for "combining pdf files free" gives many options.  The ones I have tried work fine with the two test PDF files I created through WORD, but not with the files scanned by the B110.  The scanned files open in the free Acrobat reader, of course, but some utlities report an inabilty to open the files, but other just report an error.

  • I am having difficulty opening a PDF formatted scan.  Any suggestions?

I am not very experienced with converting scanned documents into an Adobe Reader format.  Anyone have a solution to this problem?

Good to know is that Adobe Reader (the focus of thus user to user forum) cannot create PDF; it only opens PDF for viewing.
While the "native" output of all scanners is an image some scanner vendors provide additional software that can create PDF that holds the image.
So, if you don't have PDF already you'll need software (like Acrobat) or a service (like Adobe's PDF Pack) to create PDF.
The PDF with the scanner output could be opened with Adobe Reader.
    Be well...
