PDFs only print "high quality"

I have an HP Deskjet D4260. For some reason in both Preview and in Skim, the dialog box only lets me pick "photo paper" as my paper, and I can print in grayscale, but not "black cartridge only" (from advanced option). When my color ink was low I noticed that my text would print in magenta - but I'd like to save my color and only print black.
This works perfectly find in any other program including TextEdit and MS Office programs - I can select normal "HP white paper" and "print only with black cartridge".
Anyone know why i can't do normal printing from PDFs?

Try reinstalling the printer
Try resetting the printing system

  • Bridge only shows "high quality thumbnails" even if i have "quick thumbs" selected under preferences

I have tried using the options "Convert To High Quality When Previewed" and "quick thumbnails" under preferences, and closed and restarted bridge after changing each option, but to no avail.
bridge only shows high quality thumbs even with other options selected.
    any ideas?

After the thumbnails have been created using the option
i Convert To High Quality When Previewed
then reverting back to the option
    i Quick Thumbnails
won't "downsize" the cached thumbnails; the high-quality thumbnails will still show. To see low-quality (quick) thumbnails, turn to another folder with images with no thumbnails yet created, or purge the thumbnail cache. Simply closing and restarting won't purge the cache.

  • Printing high quality certificates in captivate

    Hello!
I am trying to print a certificate that I created in PhotoShop and inserted into CP7.
It looks amazing on screen, but prints out horribly.  I have tried fooling around with different file types, jpg, gif, etc.  And I tried increasing the DPI to 600, but nothing seems to be working.
Is there a way to print high quality, non-pixilated slides from Captivate?  If not, does anyone have a work around for printing certificates that look nice?
I also wanted the user to simply click the print widget one time and have the document already formatted to landscape & the highest quality - but I'm stumped on if that can be done..and how to do that?
A similar post last month has someone else perplexed as well...

  • INDS CS6 - PDF Export at High Quality issues with Gradients.

    Hi all,
We're noticing that on our PDF exports from our INDS instances we're seeing that gradients are showing up when the PDF is printed. You can visibly see the gradient lines. We have our INDS set for 'High Quality Print' and upon viewing the PDF in your browser it looks fine but when you print the PDF you can see the gradient lines.
We've exported the same IDML's directly from InDesign to PDF to Print and the gradients do not show up.
Is there a ExportPDF option we are missing on the InDesign Server that I need to tweak to make these gradients smooth and disappear?

    Marvin,
The TIF file in this example consists of a repeating sequence of adjacent columns in the following configuration: 8 white pixel, 7 black pixels.
This pattern repeats across the width of the file.
I've attached one of these files below. Please try to view it at 4000% when placed in InDesign.
(Please note that this problem also occurs with photographic images as well).
If I then crop the attached file in Photoshop, re-save and place in InDesign it will preview correctly at 4000%.
If I leave it at its original dimensions, but convert to a Gray TIF, it will preview correctly -for a while, but eventually also become "corrupted". As I mentioned in my initial post, I've had to use a Grey TIF to get the placement correct, then replace with the CMYK TIF version. Saving with and without LZW compression makes no difference. The fact that the Grey version works temporarily has got me confused. As it happens, for the moment anyway, a narrow width file in CMYK is previewing okay, but then in the past I've used TIFs just ~100 mm wide and had the same problem.

  • Grayscale; black ink only or High Quality

I have the HP Photosmart C4600 series, and I was curious about how to make my ink last the longest. I am just printing assignments, nothing that needs to be super nice looking. I selected print in grayscale but I wasn't sure which would be best for me, the high quality or black ink only.
    Thank you for your help,
    Crystal

The "high quality" setting will use the color cartridge for better graphics quality, the "black only" setting will use the black cartrdige only.
For best economy use "black only" and print in draft or econofast mode.

  • Print in PDF only Prints the first two pages

I am have been ahving problems with my creat PDF account, only printing the first two pages, when i print something to PDF from a webpage.  I.E. Pinterest.  It will only print the first two pages and the rest will be blank or incomplete.  I am at the end of my rope and dont know how to fix it.  I recently got Acrobat 9 standard thinking this may help, but the problem still exists, which irritates me more.  Please help!

  • Pdf only prints 1 page

I have one user on windows 7 with Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and when he tries to print any .pdf file it will only print 1 copy.  No matter how he attempts it only one copy will print.  We tried a 12 page document, choose page 3 only and 4 copies - nope only 1 copy will print.
    Any ideas?

We ran the repair Adobe Installation and found that it is the collate button that is causing the problem.  If we have a multi-page document and the collate button checked it will only print one copy. If we uncheck the collate button on a multi-page document it will print multiple copies.  However if it is a one page document it will only print one copy with or without the collate button checked.  It doesn't seem to matter where the document is located either if it is one from a web page or one save to the hard drive.  And it does it with every pdf.

  • Epson R340 will not print higher quality photo - Jobs Stopped!

I have seen posts on this problem before but I've tried the recommendations and haven't had any luck. From IPhoto 5 (version 5.0.4) I can print regular resolution photos but if I switch to the higher resolution photos the printer stops printing. If I restart printing it says "Opening Printer Connection" and then again "Jobs stopped".
It is very frustrating since I have printed the higher resolution photos before with the same software, drivers, etc. but I cannot repeat it every time.
I have tried verifying and repairing disk permissions but it did not work. I have also tried all combinations of Advanced Options - Print Setting along with the Presets.
    Help!
Mac Mini 1.42 GHz Power PC G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   512 MB DDR SDRAM

I reinstalled the drivers from the original set-up disk (didn't do anything)
I reread the Help topics and noticed that Epson had set the Presets to "Standard"
I noticed that in the ColorSync Utility the default preset was "Standard", so...
I set the "Format for:" to "Stylus Photo R340"
I then changed the "Paper Size" to "4x6 (sheet feeder - borderless)"
    - I used to have it as a custom 4x6 size - this may have been the problem
Then I went into the Print menu from iPhoto and checked to see that the
    Preset was "Standard"
From there I went into "Advanced Options" -> "Print Settings" and changed the Mode from "Automatic" -> "Speed" to "Quality"
I hit print and out came the higher resolution, higher quality photos.
Thanks for helping - I think you put me on the right path.

  • Color PDFs only print in Greyscale

I'm having trouble getting colour PDFs to print correctly. No matter what printer settings I use I only get a greyscale rendering on the printer. It looks fine on screen. Other apps print in color on the printer OK. I'm not sure when this problem occurred, it worked OK with previous versions of Adobe Reader up to about 3 months ago.
System here is: Windows XP SP3, Adobe Reader 11.0.3, Canon MG3150 Inkjet multifunction device.

No, I made sure that all boxes for grayscale were unchecked. Checked or unchecked it prints the same.

  • Printing high quality rasterized text from Photoshop CS5.1 to InDesign CS5.5

I’m planning on using Photoshop CS5.1 to modify preexisting music notation fonts (MusiSync and StaffClefPitchesEasy) for my own purposes. With that said, in order to make my modifications I have to rasterize the font. Once I’ve completed my alterations I plan to then place my new images into InDesign CS5.5 at the same image/ canvas size as I had created them in Photoshop. My question is: At what ppi should I create my Photoshop documents and what file type should I ‘save as’ to place in InDesign, so that my end result using InDesign, when printed buy a professional printing house, will look crisp and clean with no jagged edges, blur or pixilation? Also, I am using a mac running 10.5.8 and my Photoshop and ID documents are in greyscale. Thanks for your help.

Most of the musical notation fonts I have had to deal with are pretty restrictive as regards modifying fonts. Check with the source of the fonts.
Fontlab is the best. For easy changes, TypeTool (same company) might be OK. Least expensive but works great is Type 3.2 from CR8.
TypeTool (and Fontlab) will allow a better workflow between Illustrator and it because it can read the Adobe clipboard and so:
Open a particular character in TypeTool
Use the pointer tool to drag around all the nodes
    Copy (ctrl+c)
    Paste into Illustrator
    Alter the character
    Copy character in Illustrator
Delete the old character in Type Tool
Paste the new character from Illustrator.
Position the new character if needed (usually is)
Generate the new OTF or TT
    Unload the present font
    Load the new font
Pretty much that's it (off the top of my head, anyway).
    Take care, Mike

  • Reader won't allow me to print in "high quality" mode.

Hello.  I am trying to print high quality, color brochures.  Reader will print the brochure, but when I try to change the preferences to high quality and indicate that the file contains portraits, it doesn't save these preferences and instead, prints in normal quality.
    Please advise.

Dave, thanks for the response.  I'm trying to find a menu which allows for the options you have shown.  All I'm able to access is the following and even then, I can't change any of the settings:
    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y45/afrodork/BrochureIssue.jpg
    and
    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y45/afrodork/BrochureIssue2.jpg
I have printed this particular brochure many times in high quality from this computer and others.  However, now, the control menu that used to pop up after I sent a command to print has changed (an update?).  Now, since the new control menu, I have this issue.
I hope that sheds some light on my issue...

  • Export to pdf vs. print to pdf, from InDesign CS3

We are using Indesign CS3 on Windows XP. We are creating documents for offset printing, with 300dpi photos placed in the document. We are finding that when we "EXPORT" to pdf, and choose a "high quality print", the pdf is fine. However, if we 'print to pdf' and choose "high quality print", the photos in our pdf are more pixellated, and appear to be 150 dpi or lower resolution. Is this a problem with CS3? Does it make any difference how the tiff files have been placed, or sized, in InDesign? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

In the print dialog, when printing to PDF, under the graphics panel, make sure you change the default value of "Optimized Subsampling" to "all" for the "Send Image Data" field.

  • All my pdf files can be printed in low quality on my Brother printer but can't print in high quality in the printer menu.

My problem is that all my pdf files can be printed when I choose "low quality printing" in my Brother printer menu but cannot be printed in "high quality". When trying to print in high quality, the documents load in the printer tray and it says 1 document then disappears and 0 document printing is showing. I have some pdf files that I want to print in color in high quality and black and white but I'm unable to do so. It only prints in low quality for both color and black and white.

    Hello,
    1. Please make sure that your Reader is updated to 11.0.09. Go to Help -> Check for Updates.
    2. Also, please check if there is any new update available for your Printer Driver.

  • Indesign cc export pdf presets for Press Quality and High Quality Print are missing.

I no longer have the options for Press Quality or High Quality Print in exporting a PDF. Is that intentional? Can I get them back?

The first thing to try is repalcing the preferences and restarting the computer. See Replace Your Preferences
If that doesn't work, I've put a folder of the older prests here: https://www.hightail.com/download/OGhkZ285Q1JBNkUwTWRVag

  • Need help with printing black and white pdf print at higher quality.

We are a machine shop and many of our customers supply their prints for the tooling we need to make in .PDF file formats.  The problem is that some of the files are NOT of great quality.   They seem very faint.  I can view them on my computer no problem and when I zoom in, the quality is good, but whey they print, the dimensions and lines are very faint.   I have been pounding my head to come up with a way to improbe the quality in the following characteristics:  contrast, line quality, darker dimensions and lines, etc.   But I just cannot get anywhere.  Is there anyone that could give me some insight into how to do this.   If so, he or she would have my undying gratitude (which probably is not worth much, but sounds good!)
The other thing is that some of our customers send their prints in .TIF or .TIFF file formats.  Is there any way to convert them to PDF and get good quality?  These .TIF and .TIFF files are a little worse than others.
    Thanks ahead of time!
