Pdfs squished onto half page

I upgraded pdf complete to adobe reader, and now all pdfs saved by my turbotax2011 appear squished onto half pages, as though all the text were being pushed onto the left side of the page. Im not sure if this is an issue with turbotax itself, or adobe reader installing fonts which has caused this. Any assistance or ideas are appreciated, Ive fiddled with it for over two hours with no changes.

It sounds like it should be in the creation end of the PDF. Since Reader simply views the PDF as it was created, it wouldn't be the culprit. It "could" be that Turbotax 2012 doesn't embed the font information and Reader is being pickier about it than PDF Complete was. Hard to say without seeing an actual PDF but you could look in to whatever Turbotax is using to create the PDF's and see if there is an option to embed font info.

Adobe 9.2 on Win 7 - shrinks pdf printout to half page size

I am running Adobe Reader 9.2 on Windows 7. The printer is a Xerox Work Center C2424 and is a networked printer- we print through our server, which is running Windows Server 2003 R2.
When I try and print any PDF, it prints pages of such a size that two portrait oriented pages of the document will fit on an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper on a Landscape output. However, there is only 1 printed page on each sheet of paper (on the right side if you hold the page in Landscape orientation). I have not selected print multiple documents per sheet. My printer properties are for a portrait oriented sheet, double sided, color, standard quality.
If I click "Print as image" PDFs print correctly.
MS Word, MS Excel, and IE printouts print correctly, problems so far only occur with Adobe PDFs.
We downloaded a Windows 7 printer driver from XP.
I have worked through the Adobe 9 "Troubleshooter" and can't figure out my issue, I just know that the "Print Image" work around works, for now. I have played with options on the Adobe print dialogue and the printer properties. Only different output I've gotten is a thumbnail sized printout when I chose "Choose paper source by PDF page size" in the Adobe print dialogue; the thumbnail was perfectly centered in the landscap oriented page. Also, when playing with "print multiple sheets per page" (2 per page) I got 2 portrait oriented pages, side by side, on the bottom of a portrait oriented sheet of paper.
Any and all help/ideas are welcomed! Sorry if all my portrait/landscape language is more confusing than helpful. Thanks.

The coverpage gets converted in Acrobat.com cloud service. Is Abobe going to fix this bug in the Acrobat XI version too?

How can I print a booklet where each pdf page is vertically placed on each half page instead of one pdf on each booklet page?

I've printed a booklet before but each pdf page had two powerpoint slides on each pdf file. This binder has one powerpoint slide on each pdf page and if I try to print it as a binder, each pdf page takes up the whole half-page on the booklet. I want to print two pdf slides on each page of the booklet so when I open the booklet, there are four powerpoint slides printed. So I basically want to combine the ability to print multiple slides per page but in a booklet form.

Why not reconstruct the pages in InDesign they way you want the double pages to appear. There may even be an imposition script available that will do the trick. You could then output to pdf all the pages you want the full spread on. Leave the original to create the pages you wanted left as is.
You can ask in the ID forum about an imposition script. I know there was one with CS4, there may have been one with CS3.

How can I print mulitple different .ai files onto one page in Illustrator CS6? I have all of the files organized by Arrange Documents>Tile All in Grid and I would like to print the files in this format so that they can all be seen at once when printed out onto one page.
Some background is that I have 16 different cad drawings that I have converted and edited in illustrator. I'd like to basically make a contact sheet with all 16 drawings so that they can be reviewed on one sheet of paper after printing. But each drawing is in it's own unique file, and I have not figured out how to put them all onto one page for printing.

You can place them (linked) into a new Illustrator file and print from there.
The original files will need pdf compatability.

Combining Contents of 2 PDFs into a single page PDF

I need to combine elements of two different PDFs into one, single page PDF.
One PDF is Template of sorts with headers to be edited, the other PDF is a non-ocr scan that includes text and images.
I've found no way to copy and paste on a single page b.t two PDFs. I've tried pasting into an inserted page and then dragging it up or cutting and pasting within the document (with the intention of deleting the unneeded second page) with no luck.
This seems like it should be such a no brainer. Open 1st PDF, Open 2nd PDF, make selection Ctrl C, go to 1st PDF, place cursor where desired, Ctrl V.   But it doesn't work at all in an intuitive way like any other document program where you can cut and paste with ease b/t documents and even b/t programs.
So instead, I've copied the part of the image PDF I want into the original word doc of the template, then created a PDF from that. However, when I try to tell Acrobat to make the entire document OCR, it tells me it can’t b/c it contains renderable text (the header information, I’m assuming). If I run the OCR on a PDF containing just the image, it does it no problem.
What is the best way to bring these two documents together in way that results in a single page, completely searchable PDF?

Unfortunately, another $700 software purchase is not in the cards and I can’t wrap my mind around why it should be necessary. It seems so nonsensical to me that Acrobat has all these advanced functions for editing, combining, making portfolios etc., yet can not perform the simple task of cutting and pasting between two documents.
While Adobe support was putting me on hold, I doodled up some generic sample documents that I could upload here to illustrate the problem. Hopefully, someone can play with these and give me a workable solution.
The first PDF, Original Acme Clip, represents the file that is provided to me by our clipping service. They cut the item out of a magazine, put the customized info into their standard template in whatever word processing program they use, printed it out, pasted the magazine clip to that page and then scanned the hard copy to PDF-as an image only PDF, it is not optimized for optical character recognition and is not searchable.
The second PDF, Final Acme PDF, represents the file that our workflow eventually ends up as-a PDF containing only the info we want, formatted as we want, in which both the headers and clip content are searchable. To get there currently, we print out the Original ACME Clip, type the relevant info into the headers of a Word template that includes our logo and standard footer, print out the Word template page, manually cut out the scanned image from the PDF, and paste it onto the template paper. The resulting paper is scanned into the Final Acme PDF and OCR is run on the whole thing to make it all searchable.
What we’d like to do is skip all the printing, and manual cutting and pasting. Any and all suggestions for work in Acrobat 9 Pro to do this would be gratefully appreciated!

How can I get a total page count of a PDF before placing every page in the PDF?

Before the [long] spiel, I'm using javascript in InDesign CS3.
I'd like to create a script that places a multiPage PDF in any number of different impositions. (saddle stitch, 4up signatures, 16up signatures etc.)
I've easily created a script that iterates through a PDF and places it into a new document as (4,1|2,3), (8,5|6,7) etc, which works for printing in duplex, folding each page in half, and gluing the resulting spines to make a simple thick book (for PDFs with more than, say, 64 pages).
However, the next step is to re-write the script to create a saddle stitch document (16,1|2,15), (14,3|4,13) ... (10,7|8,9). For this I need to know how many pages there are in the PDF before I start placing the PDF pages, and then making the new document [int((PDFpages+3)/4)] pages long.
Is there a simple way to get the count of PDFpages without going through a loop and placing the next page from the PDF until the placed page number equals the first page number?
This way seems wasteful:

The only thing I've though of to relieve the sheer duplication of placing the PDF twice (once for the count, and once for the imposition), is to create an array of impoPages[counter]=myPDFPage, and then shuffle the pages referenced by the array to the correct sheet and position.
It'd be much easier to be able to assign pageCount = File(srcPDF).pageCount !!!

New to Acrobat. Just bought 8 Pro for Mac version. How do I embed a PDF form onto my website?
Also, if the process to do this is hard, would upgrading to version 9 make it any easier? Thanks.

It depends on how the user's system is set up. Normally, the PDF will open in the browser, not just downloaded.
It is possible to embed a PDF in an HTML page, for example: http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfdevjunkie/2007/08/using_the_html_embed_tag_to_di.html
But note that not all users will have a PDF viewer installed, and not all PDF viewers are produced by Adobe, so this will not work for everyone. The above link cause my Firefox browser to crash, but it works with my Internet Explorer browser.

I have found that complicated document structures causes Word to split the document into parts, but I've always gotten the whole thing, in multiple documents.
However, with two pages, I can't imagine it is that complicated.

Help Req'd! - Table will not flow onto next page!

I am currently doing some form design for a large SAP project in the UK and am having problems with getting a table on a remiitance advice form ive created to flow onto a new page.
currently my form is configured as follows:
- saved as a dynamic pdf.
- 2 master pages: the first containing text fields for form title, company logo, addresses, and a disclaimer at the bottom, page numbering, as well as a border created with rectangles. The second contains all of the above except the addresses.
- 1 body page: contains a subform set to flowed (top to bottom) which contains a table with header/data/footer rows. The data row is set to repeat data so as to expand when there is more than 1 dataset.
i have tried playing with content areas but they will not stay at the size to which i draw them and then cannot be manipulated afterwards, also i only have pagination settings available to me on the body page itself in the hierachy. the subform inside it, and the table inside that, have greyed out pagination settings.
finally the body page is set to positioned at present as setting it to flowed causes the subform containing the table to shoot to the top of the page!
The problem I am getting is that the table when containing lots of data just runs off the end of the page!!
Any ideas much appreciated!

Basically you can tell the bodypage to overflow to the second masterpage when it runs out of space.
On the bodypage properties that's done within the pagination tab.
Make sure that you enable the "Allow page breaks in contents" tickbox.
By the way, just wondering, how did you save the form as dynamic, since dynamic is only enabled in the SAP world by setting a dynamic/enabled flag.
If you are testing outside of sap in the LiveCycle designer you might want to close the file and then reopen it, after you saved it as dynamic. There's a nifty setting in the LiveCycle designer properties which enables you to create dynamic pages by default. It's in the LiveCycle Designer Options.

My PDF has a half inch white border on the left when I open it in firefox

My PDF has a half inch white border on the left, as though the margins were inset by a half inch. But when I open up the PDF in Adobe Reader or Safari, it displays with borders as I need them.
For instance, the cover page, which is green, has a half inch border on the left.

Firefox might be reserving space for the sidebar that shows the page selection.

When in iTunes on the computer,my our ipadmshould show under devices.
Click on your ipadmunder devices then go to music at top center of the iTunes window, check what you want to sync for music. You need to set it to a folder if I remember which would have your music in it you want synced.
Same with PDF files.....there should be an option for data or even PDF files at the top center area of iTunes when the iPad is clicked under devices.
If your iPad does not show or you cannot click on it under devices which is in the leftane of iTunes, the iPad is not being seen by the computer.
Try unplugging the USB cord from the laptop then give it a few and see if the computer picks it up.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that off, then relaunch Safari. Try a PDF file.
If it's not Extensions, open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Internet Plug-Ins folder. If you see any files such as this:
AdobePDF Browser or Viewer Plug-in
Move it to the Trash, relaunch Safari.

That depends on the program, but if it's Preview, go to Page Setup... under the File menu. Select the appropriate paper size there. Then go to File > Print... and do a Preview. If the content does not fit on the page, some printer drivers will have a Scale to Fit setting. If there is none, go back to Page Setup... and manually adjust the Scale until it fits nicely when you do a Preview.

Make sure your frames are set up to handle that kind of printing. Check to make sure that 2 repeating frames will fit into one page. There are properties on the repeating frames and regular frames that can affect this, like "Page Protect", "Page Break Before/After","Maximum Records per Page" or "Space Between Frames" (these are just some). You also might want to check the height and width of you section. You can increase the height until you see 2 show up, that tells you your repeating frame is too big for 2 records for your original height.
