PDFs wont load in safari

Hi I'm on a mac (safari 3.1.2 & OS X 10.4.11 [power PC G4] )
I have downloaded ADOBE READER 9.0.0.
In any window on any site when I open up PDFs they will not load,
all I get is a grey frame where the adobe reader and PDF should be.
Any ideas?

Java applets wont load in Safari and constantly crash in Firefox

I have to use Java Applets to work from home. I normally use Firefox as my browser but since the last Java update Forefox keeps crashing. I have tried Safari too and it wont load the applets at all. I am desperate to get some work done but I can't get into my work files that are stored on my office's servers.
I have seen lots of discussion about enabling java etc. in my browser and all of that has been done.

Make sure your Java system is updated on both sides (home and work computers).
As an alternative, you might look into a non-Java VPN solution. I use RealVNC (free for up to 5 computers) to work from home on my Macs and connetc to WinXP and Win7 systems at work. It works beautifully and I can connect to all 4 work systems simultaniously! The only thing the free version won't do is print remotely... so I print to PDF in my Dropbox and print that at home.
For VPN, I use a Cisco RV042 4 port router (about $90 at BestBuy) and connect via the built in OS X VPN in the Network Preferences panel. It literally took less than 5 minutes to set up. Sweet, simple, minimal cost and setup, and I can work from the house 24/7 if needed.

PDF Wont Print on Safari

Ive had this problem for years and just started using another browser when I had to print any PDF FIles.
While I can open and read them while in Safari, whenever I try to print all I get is a blank page. Thats all that shows up in the print preview screen. But if I use another browser like Chrome, it prints with no problems.
(Ive also never been able to get the Coupons.com application to work on this Mac regardless of the browser. The company says it works on a Mac, but never can get anything to print)
Anyway, my question is about the PDF on Safari. Its not big deal as I use other browsers but it is annoying. I cant imagine that Safari prevents PDF printing. I am using Lion

Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

PDFs not loading in Safari (OSX 10.8.2)

Everytime I try to view a PDF through Safari, all I get is a dark grey screen. I can open PDFs through other browsers, and I can download them from Safari.

Pdf never loads in safari, gray screen

After updating my Safari, pdf's show up as a gray screen.

For Safari, try removing the adobe pdf plugins.
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
These were installed when you installed Adobe Reader. Apparently there's a problem with these with the current flock of browsers.
If you are not using Safari the above will work for other browsers too, although in FireFox, you could just disable the use of those plugins from within Firefox (Tools menu --> AddOns --> Plugins).

Webpages wont load using safari or firefox

im not sure if im in the right spot to be posting this or not. but here goes nothin. about 2 weeks ago i brought my imac home from work and when i turned it on and opened up safari and nothing would load and then finally say sorry server couldnt connect to this page. so i brought my computer back to work and it works fine here. so i downloaded firefox and took it home and the same thing happened. i have my playstation3 connected to the internet and it works just fine. im just not sure what to do or how to even go about fixing this problem. if anyone knows anything please help me out. it would be greatly appreciated

I had similar problem following the recent OS security update. After hours of troubleshooting, I discovered that lowering my Westell 327W router's firewall security setting from medium to low enabled normal function again. Am not too concerned about lower security setting, since I have a AEBS connected between the router and iMac by ethernet cable.
If there is better solution, then would be glad to learn of it.

Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
The version is noted there.
Troubleshooting advice can depend on that information.

PDF's wont load technic font?

PDF wont load technic font instead displays lines of dots where text should be?

It could be that the font is not embedded into the document. What type of font is technic? Look at the document properties and see if it is embedded into the document.

Open in pdfs in preview from Safari page

Since the release of Safari 8.03 when a pdf page loads in Safari the icons to have the page opened in preview no longer works.
When a PDF is open on a Safari page, bringing the cursor to the bottom of the page causes several icons to pop up, one of which used to cause the pdf to be opened by preview. Now when I click that icon nothing happens. I can export the pdf and then open in preview, but that is an extra few steps.
Any suggestions on how to bring the behavior back?

Have you installed the vlc plug in for safari, this might help, I'm going to try it my self and see if it works

Iphone connects to wifi but wont load any data

my iphone will connect to my wifi network with a good signal but when i open safari, check weather,stocks etc. it wont load. in safari it says it cant connect to the server and in weather, stocks etc it says update failed. It just started doing this yesterday and my wifi worked before. Also my internet is working. Please help this iphone isn't even a week old!!!
PS i can connect to other wifi networks but not mine

I have the itouch and I am having a Wifi issue. Is there a particular kind of combination setting that perhaps I am not doing. What I mean is when you go to wifi settings. There is DHCP , BootP and static at the top of the page. Then at the bottom, we have off, manual and auto. Also in between all that there it displays Ip address , subnet mask, router, dns, search domains and client id.
What is a dns ? I would love to know and even better how do I get this thing to work, which did until three days ago.

Safari and other browsers slow to load and wont load https (secure)

Since the last update of Safari 5, we have noticed that we can't load https pages. So we went to Firefox, that seemed to help for awhile. Now we can't always load https in either. We are also seeing that http pages wont load quickly in either browerser. We have researched all posts within the last month about Safari 5 and hang ups, crashes and slow loading....we have tried everything suggested. Since sites don't load quickly, this has taken a lot of time. Any suggestions would be wonderful. We have contacted our DSL provider 6 times in the last 30 days and they can't find anything wrong with their service or with the modem. We are at a loss. Currently we are trying to download the MocOSXUpdCombo 10.6.4 but we keep timing out. Don't even know if this post will post. Oh yeah, Mail is having problems as well. We ran disk first aid and did the permissions as well. Any suggestions would be wonderful.

I am a long way from an expert on anything - SSL or communications. The fact that both browsers are affected seems to take it out of a Safari-only thing. Also, since everything works on your other computer seems to let your ISP off the hook. I don't think it is your computer, per se.
I did get some random thoughts. Things you might look at/try:
1. Reset Safari (empty the cache, for sure)
2. Take a look at the firewall settings on the computer that is giving you problems.
3. You might try Open DNS (free one) to see if the domain name server process is, somehow, an issue:

4. You might also download the OS X 10.6.4 combo updater and reapply it. That is probably an overkill and it will take awhile, but it is possible something went wrong with the update.
You can see I am fishing, but nothing seems to be consistent in the behavior.

Safari wont load some sites but will open others

Since yesterday morning, my mac will all of a sudden not load certain websites while others load fine. For example some that wont load are google, gmail, commonwealth bank, about.com, but facebook and a number of others still load. I get the "Safari can't connect to the server" error page. Same thing in firefox.
I have an ADSL modem (netgear) connected to my mac running 10.6, via ethernet. My modem is not a router. I share my macs internet connection via airport, and i can still access everything fine on my iphone and ipad which tells me its something specific to my mac.
I havent changed any settings so I have no idea why my internet is suddenly so selective of what it will access.
I tried flushing the DNS and changing the MAC access in the terminal with no result.
Any idea? Its driving me insane :-/

IPHONE 4 Safari wont load any pages while on 3G

When i open up safari while on 3G, and i search anything in google a error message shows up : Safari can not open this page because the network connection has been lost . (The message shows up in french, since im from france.)
Same problem on facebook and youtube, it wont load.
I started having this problem about 2 days ago when i reinstalled my iPhone with itunes.
(Keep in mind that i have the 3G logo on top, but it doesnt works.)

Do you actually have a data plan from your cellular provider?
Being connected to 3G does not automatically indicate that a data plan exists on the account or is even set up correctly on the carrier side.
