  • Differences between CAF and NWDS

    Hi all,
I'm reading about CAF and I don't understand the differences between CAF and NWDS. In NWDS you can composite an aplication with services offered by other systems, so I don't understand what CAF offers.
    Regards,

    Hi,
CAF is a Frame work for developing Composite Applications.
CAF consists of two parts: design time and run time.
NWDS provides design time development support.Simply, NWDS is the IDE based on Eclipse.
CAF Server that is Composite Environment Server provides the run time for composite applications.
You can go through the help doc for [Composite Environment |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/ff9fc1d8986c06e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm]so that you can understand easily.

  • Problems with discovering services from Service Registry in VC and NWDS

    Hello,
I have followed step 1 "Brokered Service implemented in own system" in blog
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=(J2EE3414900)ID1803376250DB00062216078043496017End?blog=/pub/wlg/8788
in order to publish  a service from PI to the Services Registry (SR).
It works fine and I can find the service in the SR and also test it successfully.
However I can't discover the service from within Visual Composer or NWDS.
I succeed in discovering standard SAP Enterprise Services from VC and NWDS.
    I'm working on CE 7.1 EHP 1 and PI 7.1 EHP 1.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?
    // Best regards  Hans

    Hello Hans,
Sorry, may be I should have been more specific.
First, I want to verify that you're using at least Ehp1 SP2.
The information that I need is the complete system details:
Name, Host, SLD System ID, Type, ABAP Client.
In addition, please reverify that you have a valid link to the endpoint.
Only if you're using a version Ehp1 SP2 onwards, here are the seetings that you should fill:
    1. Open NWA>'SOA Managment'>'Application and Scenario Communication'
    2. Press on 'Single Service Administration' link
    3. Press on 'Customer Proxies' tab
    4. In the 'find' text box select for 'sr' and press on 'Go' button
    5. Select the 'ServicesRegistrySi' (This is the proxy to the Services Registry backend)
    6. Press on 'Configuration' tab
    7. Select the 'ServicesRegistrySiPort' (If it's the only result it will be marked by default)
    8. Press on the 'Edit' button and insert your SR URL
       (for example: http://sr.esworkplace.sap.com:80/ServicesRegistrySiService/ServicesRegistrySiPort)
    9. Press on the 'Security' tab and insert the requried authentication if needed
In this example it will be:
       username: <your user namr>
       password: <your password>
    10. Save this configuration
    11. Defined proxy (if needed): NWA>'SOA Managment'>'Technical Configuration'
    12. Press on 'SOA Middleware Global settings and type the proxy's settings
    12. Save settins
    14. Now you can work with Service Registry in VC (server)
In case you're using a lower version than Ehp1 SP2, please use the following link to configure your system:

  • Is there any thing to Compare PDK and Web Dynpro

Is there any thing to Compare Enterprise Portal PDK and Web Dynpro .
please inform me what is the role of PDK and Web Dynpro in a project.
i am just confused by the terms

    Hi Krishna,
The PDK (Portal Development Kit) is especially made to produce portal content based on jsp using the htmlb library. With the combination of JSP and tag libraries, you can even separate the presentation from the logic. However, the use of HTML tags, JSP tags and Scriptlet code demand great discipline when you develop Web applications, as otherwise the advantages of separating the presentation from the logic quickly disappear.
Web Dynpro applications are able to run in a portal also, you can make use of features like portal eventing also (two Web Dynpro based iViews can communicate with eachother as well as two iViews built with PDK). Using the Web Dynpro Client for Java (a beta-version will be available soon) you could use the same application within a SAPGui-like environment also. The new development environment for professional User Interfaces follows the model view controller paradigm and goes a few steps further in UI programming, e.g.:
    - Screen management and screen flow
    - Automatic data transport
    - Re-usability of Web Dynpro components
    - Session management
    - Internationalization
    - etc.
Both development tools are available with the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
    Hope that helps.
    Best regards,
    Karin

  • Regarding the Customer Setup for ISA B2B using SAP J2EE 6.4 and NWDS

    Hi
Does someone knows how we can setup a customer project using
    SAP J2EE 6.4 and NWDS.
I've tried to setup the project but facing a weird problem..
I've ISAWAC640SP11 and ant buildtool to build the application.
    I didn't get any "sda_build.xml" in this patch (ISAWAC640SP11).
    i've used "sda_build.xml" of ISAWAC40SP11.
I've build the application using build tool but when i try to deploy it
on SAP J2EE 6.4 using SDM i get a weird message stating
<b>"com.sap.sdm.util.sduread.IllFormattedSduFileException: The archive must be deployed with a 6.20 SDM, which has a SDM-SDA compatible version 1 or greater."</b>
Does anyone knows from where can i get the sda_build.xml file compatible with
    ISAWAC640SP11 ??
Also can some one suggest me to setup a customer project for extension and
modification of ISA B2B 640 on NWDS and SAP J2EE 6.4....
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
I am Rajesh..and it seems that you and I are facing the same problem. Well, I am really finding it hard to find material like PDF's files on Build Tool. and ISA Development and Extension Guide.
I would really appreaitate if you could send me some material. Well, My project is very simple and I have been given the task to first submit a simple demo of B2C on R/3 system. ( Not CRM ). I have also installed the NWDS and everything including the ISA WAC Java components. I am having real hard time in modifying them....
Can you please shed light on it...You can also email to me at [email protected]

Are you using Oracle Application Server Portal's PDK? If so, you would have better luck posting to that forum: Oracle Application Server Portal

  • PDK and 9iAS Forums (at least) SUPER SLOW!!!!

At least the PDK forum is remarkably slow! I'm getting time outs when attmepting to reply to a post as well as having to wait for content to load. It seems (as a technical observation) that the links and images directing to port 3301 are in fact quite the blame.
AAAAARRG! This is frustrating! It's been this way for what I think at least two weeks.. (I wonder if the problem is the 'revolutionary' Oracle web cache.. ;-)
    -s-

You could try making a backup in iTunes, then restoring the iPhone. Normally that resolves the issue of it being slow.
Also another thing you should be aware of is the multitasking feature. Double-tap the home button, and it will bring up a row apps, with a little picture above them showing a preview of what it would look like if you opened the app. These are the apps running in the background. You could swipe them upwards, and that will stop them from running.

  • NWDI and NWDS

    Installation of NWDS & NWDI
    Hi
I am looking at installing Netweaver Developer Studio. We presently
have some servers available where we are contemplating installation
    1. A PI 7.1 EHP1 Server
    2. A SAP Enterprise Portal 7.0
I have some questions regarding the installation
The Enterprise Portal 7.0 media has installation files for NWDI. Is it
possible to install NWDI in a the PI 7.1 EHP1 server using the portal
media. Would there be a incompatibility considering the fact that the
PI is on Netweaver 7.1 and Portal is on Netweaver 7
I read the installation guide for PI which states that PI should be a
    separate system. Hence the question.
Can I install Netweaver 7.30 which includes NWDI in the portal server /
PI Server? Again would there be compatibility issues considering the
fact that one would be Netweaver 730 and the other in Netweaver 7 / 7.1
The PI Master Guide states "It is a prerequisite that no other system
in your system landscape has a higher release and enhancement package
level than the PI system" Hence the question
I downloaded Netweaver Developer studio. I downloaded it from
    Download
    Browse DOwnload Catalog
    SAP Netweaver and Complementary Products
    SAP Netweaver
    SAP Netweaver 7.0
    Entry by Component
    Developer Studio
Under this I find only one version which is for Win32. Could you let me
know if this is compatible with 64 bit operating systems and hardware?
Moreover this folder has close to 16Gigs as source files.
Would this be the size of the installation?
Could you please direct me towards a installation document. The
document which I have (attached) does not seem to be syncd to this
installation source. It states that it is for a Standalone version of
    NWDS.
I do not find the installation files for NWDS for version 7.3. Could
you please let me know where I could download this from.
I would also like to know if NWDS (higher version) would be compatible
with a lesser version of NWDI.
    Let me know
    thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
first of all I kindly ask you to walk through this thread which I believe will shed some light on this.
SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 Ehp1 SP5 & multiple SAP release version support
If after reading it you have some further questions, we can go into details.
Regarding NWDS download links I have just added them to the sticky thread (see the very bottom of it):

  • Help with Oct PDK and 9iAS 9.0.2

    Help,
I noticed I can already run many of the JSP samples by clicking on the demonstration tab on the default page port 7779. http://myhost.com:7779
I want to run the URL and Web Service portlets descirbed in the PDK.
What are the minimal changes I need to make to my system? Win2000. I've completed the following:
    1. In jserv.properties I verified wrapper.classpath=c:\oracle\jpdk\lib\provider.jar
    2. In jserv.properties, I verified the following following line wrapper.classpath=c:\oracle\jpdk\lib\samples.jar
    3. In the zone.properties file under the Servlet Aliases section, I added the alias that points to the Provider Adapter: servlet.sample.code=oracle.portal.provider.v1.http.HttpProvider
    4. In the zone.properties file, under the Aliased Servlet Init Parameters section, I added the initial arguments needed by the sample. servlet.sample.initArgs=provider_root=c:\oracle\jpdk\providers\sample, sessiontimeout=1800000, debuglevel=1
    5. I created a \jpdk directory under the default JSP directory for my listener: c:\oracle\9iasEE\Apache\Apache\htdocs\jpdk
    6. I copied all the folders beneath the c:\oracle\jpdk\htdocs directory to the above NEW directory.
    7. I modify c:\oracle\jpdk\providers\sample\provider.xml to point to the JSP directories containing the Web Provider Samples.
I edited the following entry which is located at the top of the provider.xml:
    <!DOCTYPE provider [
    <!ENTITY virtualRoot "/jpdk/">
    <!ENTITY physicalRoot "c:\oracle\9iasEE\Apache\Apache\htdocs\jpdk\">
    ]>
    8. Started my Oracle HTTP Server and executed the sample from my Oracle HTTP Server. http://myserver.mydomain.com:7779/servlets/sample
    Nada.
I can pull http://myserver.mydomain.com:7779 and run the JSP examples from the Demo Tab.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Chase

It seems that you are trying to deploy JPDKv2 portlets on Apache which is fundamentally wrong. Portlets developed using JPDKv1 are deployed on Apache
while those developed using JPDKv2 are deployed on OC4J.
You can dowload the latest JPDKv2 from
http://otn.oracle.com/software/htdocs/devlic.html?http://download.oracle.com/otn/other/PDK.zip The downloaded pdk.zip contains full details of deploying portlets developed using JPDKv2.
If you want to leverage the Apache infrastructure, you will need to make ur Portlet JPDKv1 compatible & then deploy it
    on Apache. You can visit
http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=2743&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO It contains articles that should help you get started with JPDKv1.

  • Portal PDK and Portal Events

    Hello
does the portal pdk for vstudio.net supports the Portal Eventing feature (fire and subscribe)?
    Regards

There are no server side APIs for generating the client-side code.
You need to write the JavaScript code and to add it to the iView. See example below:
    <script>
         EPCM.subscribeEvent("urn:SAP.Demo.Event", "DataChange", onChange);
         function onChange(eventData)
              alert(eventData.dataObject);

  • EPA file and NWDS?

    Hello,
is it possible to import a EPA File into the NWDS? Couldnt find a way yet.
    regards,
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
Its not possible to import EPA file into NWDS. EPA file is a transport package which contains all the details and content in itself. You can just export a EPA file and when you import this EPA file on any other server the contents are created on that server as well.
For info you can go thru this <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/de/c6/0f6fbbee629a43aca05c38db556b5d/frameset.htm">link</a>.
