PDM losing connection to PIX firewall

I'm having this problem if I login to my PIX either a PIX 501 or 506E, the PDM will lose it connection with the PIX after so many minutes. If i go to apply a change or save a config, PDM will tell me it can't communicate with the PIX. I would then have to close my web browser and open a new connection.
I'm running PIX OS 6.3(5) and PDM 3.0(4) with IE 6, Java 1.6.0 on Windows XP
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening??

Hi jghiller,
Question: should I share the 7520 on al pcs or none at all?
The printer should not be shared from one computer to another.  Each computer can directly access the printer.
Question: If I disable my security software firewall, should the printer be found and installed on wireless network OK?
The firewall can cause problems, but not like they used to.  With this being a current printer, most firewalls should work fine with the printer.
Dropping from the network:
There are multiple possibilities.
1. Try turning off UPnP in the printer embedded web server.  Type the IP of the printer into a web browser to access the EWS.  On the network tab, selecting Networking on the left side and then UPnP.
2. If your router supports double width data channels, try changing the router to use single width channel.  You will need to access the EWS of the router.  Most routers will say either default or double.  There might be a number listed instead.  Try setting the router to 20Mhz channel width.
3. Also, setting a static IP for the printer could be a good idea.  That way the printer IP won't change and possibly get lost by the computers.  This setting also appears in the printer EWS.

  • Connecting VPNs using a PIX Firewall

    Hi,
We are trying to configure a PIX firewall to connect differents VPNs on a MPLS enviroment and we have a problem when we use more than one firewall.
With one FW all works fine, but with two or more in some situation we can have recursive routing and It doens't work.
Do you know any way to connect differents MPLS VPNs using differents Firewalls.
    Regards.
    Enrique.

Would appreciate if you can elaborate more on the topology and the minute details on the problem that you experience with multiple firewalls.

  • Windows 8 keeps losing connectivity

Hi, not sure if this is unique but for the past few weeks Windows 8 has been losing connectivity every few minutes when browsing web pages, playing games etc. I am sure it's windows 8 as I have another work laptop using XP that I can be on all day via a
VPN and that does not drop at all (it would normally drop within a few seconds of losing connectivity). I've done a lot of searching on the net for the same issue, others seem to be having similar things happen such as slow speed but can't find anything that
    matches, hence this separate question.
I have also tried swapping routers to no avail. The thing is, you wouldn't know anything had happened from the network connectivity. Suddenly a page won't load. The wireless connectivity at the bottom right of the screen shows a full 5 bars (not limited
connectivity). The way to get it back again is to leave it for a few minutes or disconnect from the router and reconnect again. Even whilst typing this I have had to do that twice.
    I'd appreciate some suggestions!
    Many Thanks, Paul.

    Hi,
Does this issue occur with both wireless and wired?
I suggest to perform these tests to troubleshoot the issue:
1 Update NIC card for your machine
2 Temporary disable firewall and antivirus program
3 Logon with Safe Mode with Networking
4 Update framework for your router.

    HI all,
I Need some help here with CISCO PIX Firewall 506e series. The ORACLE Server 8i on Windows NT.4, placed at the inside interface of PIX Firewall.

    Varun,
    Thank you for your help.
I have one quick question, this pix is not in failover, it is standalone but it has Unrestricted license. It only has 64Mb of Ram. Will I have any problems based on your link recommendation?
    Memory Requirements:
If you are using a PIX 515/515E running PIX Version 6.2/6.3, you must increase your memory before upgrading to PIX Version 8.0(2). This version requires at least 64 MB of RAM for Restricted (R) licenses and 128 MB of RAM for Unrestricted (UR) and Failover (FO) licenses
What is the difference between the restricted Licenses and the Unrestricted Licenses?
    Thanks!

  • BorderManager and Pix Firewall

    Hello,
Just implemented NSBS6.5 for a small bank with Pix firewall's inner IP
address as my next router on hop.Was able to send mails out but could not
receive inbound mails. Also the Bank's web site could no longer be
assesible from within the bank but could be connected to from any where
outside the bank's network.Could ping from the BorderManager proxy with
public IP of 172.16.1.2 to the Pix private with IP of 172.16.1.1
Moreover,a MaCafe Antivirus appliance was brought in and connected btw
the BorderManager Proxy server and the Pix firewall with a bridged
connection and an assigned IP address of 172.16.1.3 and 172.16.1.4 At
    this
instance, could no longer ping the Pix 172.16.1.1, but could ping both
interface of the MaCafe appliance.Could not also send nor receive mails
    via the mail proxy.
I intend bringing the MaCafe appliance before the BorderManager Proxy
    and
assign a LAN address to it since it has a bridged config,so as to isolate
    the problem of this appliance.
I need to get the mail server running perfectly and the website
    assesible.Pls kindly help my case.

  • SIP connection Through PIX

    Hi ,
i have a CISCO PIX Firewall running version Version 7.2(4)......
i want to know how many connection of SIP can be handled by PIX firewall. what is the default limit.
Actually we have a two setup of sip , one with Juniper firewall and one with pix different location. earlier i was facing issue with juniper that the Dialer not able to send call to user,
during troubleshooting i found that in Juniper there is ALG which have sip enabled with 64 maximum limit.. so i diabled and all calls working fine.
Now the question is voice vendor telling me the the same issue facing by user behind PIX Firewall.

  • How to verify the current connections on a firewall?

I am a new computer support specialist in a small company. We would like to focus on network security. How can I verify the current connections on a PIX firewall? We would like catch malicious behavior while it's occurring. How do I inspect all the connections going through our firewall - both in and out. My focus is on anomalies and investigate them; this could include outbound FTP or inbound Telnet/SSH sessions. We have a Cisco perimeter router, which functions as the company firewall. A PIX firewall sits behind the router and its sole function is to build and terminate IPSEC tunnels. I would appreciate any advise.
    Thanks.

    Hi Said
"sh crypto isa sa" will show all the IPSEC phase 1 connections to your pix.
"sh crypto ipsec sa" will show all the IPSEC phase 2 connections to your pix.
"sh conn" will show all the connections that have been allowed through your pix.

  • Pix firewall issue

    Hello,
I'm trying to configure some firewall rules and a nat in our pix 525 and I'm having some issue with the connection
    Here are the details:
    172.40.40.40 destination host.
    1.- I configured an ACL
    ACL test 172.80.0.0 255.255.0.0 destination 172.40.40.40
    ACL test 172.90.0.0 255.255.255.0 destination 172.40.40.40
    inside interface IP 172.20.20.20
    outside inteface IP 192.169.1.2
interfaces inside outside (ping and icmp are allow)
    static (outside, inside) 172.40.40.40 172.40.40.40
    nat (outside)  5 access-list test
    global (inside) 5 interface
    route inside 172.40.40.40 255.255.255.255 172.30.30.30
    route outside 172.80.0.0 255.255.0.0 192.168.1.1
    route outside 172.90.0.0 255.255.0.0 192.168.1.1
I'm trying to nat the traffic comming from the outside interface because we want to avoid interal ip conflicts, I'm seeing the hits on the ACL
but can not telnet from 172.80.0.1 to 172.40.40.40 , there are routes and porta enable for that connection
and my flag logs shown me SaAB from the destination host, what could be the problem?
We can ping between the destination host and the pix inside interface and the icmp is allow in all the interfaces.

Hello Thank you for your help, we will try to apply that command in our test .
About our test the incoming connection from 172.90.0.0 are telnet session to 172.40.40.40
So we are doing a PAT for those connection (172.90.0.0 PAT to 172.30.30.29) my question is that kind of scheme and configuration is supported on Pix Firewall?
Here is the version: PIX 525
    Cisco PIX Firewall Version 6.3(5)
    This is the path
                                     MPLS                                    PIX                                              Destination HOST
    subnet 172.90.0.0/16 ---- ------------------------- ACL TEST -PAT(172.30.30.29 inside inteface) --------  172.40.40.40 port 25

It's not just you, I can't authorise my phone. It seemed to go down just after I started the update (it wasn't my fault though). I am using chrome, and it does not seem to be a firewall issue, or the bannerblock issue that I read about else where, since I dont have that program installed. Strange though how the support forum is still running. If I go to http://www.apple.com/support I get nothing, but googling topics allows me to see em.

  • Apple TV losing connection with iTunes on Windows

I am running iTunes on both an HP MediaSmart Windows Home Server (WHS) and a newly installed Windows Vista system.  I have multiple Apple TV's around the house - both ATV2's and ATV3's.
I was using the MediaSmart Server as my main iTunes server for Apple TV streaming.  That was the system's only function.  Unfortunately, I was constantly restarting iTunes and/or the system as my Apple TV's would lose connection to home sharing.  I thought WHS was the problem so I set up an unused computer to install Windows Vista (only license I had laying around) and installed iTunes.  Everything seemed to work fine for a few days then I started losing connection to that iTunes also.  I turned off the WHS system thinking it was causing the other iTunes to choke.  That did not help.
For reference, All of my computers are hard wired and I have some ATV's that are hard wired and some that are using wireless.  Wired or wireless....the problem still exists.  Also, I have competely disabled anti-virus and the firewall on both iTunes servers.
I can watch multiple movies at one sitting.  However, if iTunes is idle overnight (or even for a few hours it seems), my Apple TV's can not re-connect to home sharing and I need to restart iTunes.
Last night I disabled the AppleMobileDeviceHelper and the iPodService services hoping that would help.  I have not had a chance to fully test this out yet, but did stumble across quite a few posts where MANY others are having tjhis same issue.  Many are saying it has to do with the ATV3's sleep mode.  If I recall correctly, my major problems did seem to start about the time I got my first ATV3.  When I get home tonight I will disable the sleep mode on all of my ATV's.
Here is the question...just in case that works:  Is powering off the device by holding down the play button the same as allowing the device to "sleep"?  I ask because I use Harmony remotes and I have programmed them to power off the Apple TV when turning off all devices.
As I said, I have multiple ATV's (7 to be exact - 3 ATV3's and 4 ATV2's) and would hate to leave them all on all the time just to fix this problem.
Any feedback would be appreciated.  It is difficult to discern a solid solution from the 400,000 other posts on this topic.
    Thanks.

Sorry, I updated another thread I was a part of but didn't update my own thread.....ughhh!
I updated all of my ATV 2's and 3's to the latest firmware when it was released and have been problem free since. I do believe the major issue of not being able to connect after a period of inactivity has been corrected with the latest ATV firmware.
I can look at my network connection table using "netstat -an" in a CMD window and I do not see the massive number of connections I saw before the update.
Here is a link to the other thread I was referring to above:

Have you applied the latest firmware updates to your ATV 3's?

  • Losing connection to HP7520 on wireless network

I probably would be OK if I only had one pc but I have 3 - Win8, Win7, and Vista. Tech support had to install printer after downloading software from HP. Apparently disc is worthless.
It was installed using an IP address which I think was a mistake. IP addresses change and this may be the issue here.
When I am on the WIn8 or Win7 pc the printer goes offline or is not connected.
Question: should I share the 7520 on al pcs or none at all?
Question: If I disable my security software firewall, should the printer be found and installed on wireless network OK?
Part of my problem and confusion about this issue is how the printer is defined when viewing Printers on each pc. There are HP 7520 Series, HP 7520 Series(networking), HP 7520 Series(Fax) - to name a few - depends on the pc OS.
Some definitions have the IP address shown when viewing the printer properties, and other definitions show the serial number. I have installed a lot of HP printers on a wireless net and never had these issues.
Any ideas on why I keep losing connectivity to printer?

  • Been losing connection for magic mouse and wireless keyboard

When I have my MBP running Mavericks in clamshell mode, I lose connections to both magic mouse and apple wireless keyboard in clamshell mode. I've tried all the PRAM SCM, aluminum foil and paper tricks. What I then did was test what happens when I leave the MBP open rather than in clamshell mode and it appears to avoid losing connection, at least that is what I've concluded with Mavericks for now..... anyone else able to replicate this? Having to leave the MBP open is not ideal.

Barry, thanks, still not working.  I've tried every thing I can think of or have read, what I'm concluding is that there is either a problem with Mavericks or something has changed on how bluetooth works in Mavericks. Did not have this problem for the last 4 years. I can reproduce the problem when I close the laptop. I had the Bluetooth and wireless card checked out and replaced about 3 weeks ago. Problem has continued.

  • External drive conntected to Time Capsule keeps losing connection

I've been having this problem since I bought my TC over one year ago. Other than this everything works fine (aside from the occasional need for a restart).
I have an external 500GB drive attached to my 500GB TC via usb. I use the TC strictly for backups and the other drive to host my media files. When I want to use those files I switch on the drive. Only about half of the time does that work. When it does work everything is fine. I see the drive in the finder as expected.
When it doesn't work, I can see the drive name in the finder. But if I click to go into the folder, I get an error saying that the connection cannot be found.
It shows up in the Airport Utility as normal.
Powering the drive off and on does not help.
Relaunching the finder doesn't help either.
The only way I can connect to the drive again is to either logoff and log back into my mac, or restart the TC.
It seems that my computer is remembering some kind of network disk mounting settings that don't get refreshed when I turn on the drive, but then do get refreshed when I logoff and back in. Does anyone know how I could force that refresh to happen? Has anyone had this problem before?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
PS all my software and firmware are the latest.
    Thanks.
