PE 10 crashing endlessly on Windows 7

Question

Slide show project due this Thursday for my daughter's event - need to get this resolved ASAP.  Crashes after trying to play back slideshow (1 min in) and while trying to burn the DVD ... barely makes it to 6% complete.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated - really hope I didn't waste money on this product.

What video card does your Windows 7 (assumed 64 bit) computer use? NVIDIA?
If so, stop and read the Announcement at the top of the Premiere Elements Forum. For your convenience, the following is a copy/paste of that Announcement.that I wrote

If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.

Now if none of that applies to you, we will take another troubleshooting approach and ask...
1. What are the properties of your project's source media?
2. What are you setting as the project preset to match the properties of the source media?
3. Where is this slideshow coming from - solely from a Premiere Elements 10 project or from an Elements Organizer Slideshow brought
into the Premiere Elements 10 workspace, destination DVD-VIDEO standard or widescreen on DVD disc?
4. When you get to the burn to and look at the Quality Area of the burn dialog, what is it showing for Space Required and Bitrate (this
is immediately before you hit the burn button in the burn dialog)?

5. If you do not have a NVIDIA video card, what is the video card and is the video card driver up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer
of the card? Does your computer use 1 or 2 cards?
6. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 10?
7. Are you running the program Run As Administrator or from User Account with Administrative Privileges?
8. Is this a "it worked before  but not now" or "it never worked before" problem? How long have you been working with Premiere Elements 10 on
the computer involved?
