PE 10 disks won't install on my PC

I just bought Photoshop Elements 10 but the disks won't install.  I have a recent model HP laptop with 64 bit Windows 7 operating ystem.  When you insert the disks  ( disk 1 or 2) in the DVD recorder/player you can hear the disks being read for a while then the disk just stops and a message comes up asking what do I want to do with the blank disk. What do I need to do to get tfhe program to install??

Have the disks replaced by the seller.  It's possible the disk is defective.  By the way, you only need disk 1 to install PSE on Windows.
To immediately install PSE10, download the trial version from Adobe and use your purchased serial number to activate it.

  • ILife '09 disk won't install on Lion - ejects!!!

I had to erase and reinstall Lion on my Macbook Pro. Now when I put my purchased iLife '09 software disk into drive it just ejects itself without installing. Any ideas why won't install as was working before Lion and I need iWeb??

Restart the computer first, see if that does anything.
    Then try resetting the PRAM.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mh26871.html
If that doesn't do it, you have to figure out if it is the DVD or computer.  Do different disks work?  Does the disk work in a different computer?
Did you look at the bottom of the disk for finger prints and scratches.  Be nice when you clean it.  Don't scratch it more...
    Good luck!

  • MAC OS X Snow Leopard install disk won't install "with this version"

I am trying to get ready for the Snow Leopard install disk to migrate from Mobile Me to ICloud. However, the disk install I received to start the process won't allow me to install saying I have the incorrect version to do so. I am up to date in all my software installs. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

If you have an iMac running 10.7.4 as it says in your profile, why are you installing Snow Leopard?  If this is a different computer then it would really, really help to know something about it.

  • Recovery Disks won't install to new HD

    Hello, all,
My laptop froze up last week and wouldn't boot to the OS. Laptop is an HP Pavillion g6-1b60us, running Windows 7. I've tried a number of things, including a new hard drive, the recovery partition, recovery CDs, standard OS install discs, and testing the HD and memory in BIOS. All efforts are detailed below, sorry for the length, but I'm in Day 8 of trying to fix this.
I first tried restoring from the recovery partition, but after restoring, it told me on start up it couldn't find the boot manager.
I then tried installing Windows Vista from a standalone install CD (not an upgrade). Managed to boot it to Vista doing this, but when I tried to upgrade to Windows 8, the computer wouldn't complete the install on reboot.
I then ordered recovery disks from HP. Same problem as recovering from the recovery partition.
I opened up the computer and reseated the hard drive and ram.
I then used the BIOS to test the hard drive and the memory. Memory test came back fine, hard drive came back with an error.
Bought a new hard drive, same size, same brand. (500GB) I tried using the recovery disks to install the OS on the new drive. I consistently got errors saying files could not be copied to the hard drive in the first step.
Then tried installing Windows Vista, also got errors saying it wouldn't copy over.
Tested the hard drive in the BIOS, came back fine.
I then tried installing the OS to the original hard drive and cloning the drive to the new drive in Linux. This failed as well. For reference, the computer will run Linux perfectly using a USB drive.
I'm now at the end of my rope. Is there a chance the new drive is just a lemon and picking up a new one will fix this? Is there something with the recovery CDs that make them reject new drives? Any advice anyone has would be very helpful.
    Thanks in advance!

Got a new hard drive (same size, different brand). Installed perfectly.
For some reason, the new HGST 500GB travelstar just wouldn't work, which is odd since the original is a Hitachi as well. The drive worked fine as an external, etc, and tested fine, so who knows. Kept getting the error "failed to create E:\sdv.flg".
Got it running just fine on a  Toshiba 500gb.

  • Updates or install of applications from disk won't install.

    Hello.
Tried running a software update on my recently already archived and installed Macbook. Neither the Safari or iTunes would install. Tried installing older version of iTunes (deleted iTunes 8 due to problems) and that wont work. When I did a software update, it did manage to update a security feature but not the applications. I have repaired disk permissions and tried installing again and no joy. I don't want to have to archive everything again. Please help.
    LadyCoco.

Hi LadyCoco, and a warm welcome to the forums!
To install earlier versions of APPs, or to have Software Update recognize you're not up to date, you generally have to delete the PKG stub in Library>Receipts for that item.

  • My applications disk won't install. Can anyone solve this problem?

I've recently bought a refurbished MacBook Pro, however upon trying to install the applications using the applications disk, it repeatedly states 'installation failed' and advises me to contact the service provider. I have already installed the OSx Lion without any issues, however the issue with the applications disk remains unresolved. It appears to begin the installation process each time with a loading bar, but then always eventually says 'error installation failed'.
I really really want to use the iLife applications that come with the MacBook Pro (main reason i bought it), hence why this is really irritating me. I will therefore be incredibly thankful if anyone can offer any solutions without a price tag, as I don't want to download from the app store when I'm meant to install them free and simply using this disk.

My wife uses my Apple ID and password to download and install all her software because that way we only pay for it once and get essentially a family license. Otherwise we would each have to purchase and pay for our own copy. However, that only applies when we are purchasing software from the App Store or the iTunes store. We each have our own individual iCloud accounts where we store our personal Contact, Calendar, and other data. You can change the Apple ID on your wife's computer by going to System Preferences > Accounts and choosing her account then clicking on Apple ID: Set.
Now if you want to make things more intertwined you and your wife can share your contacts, calendars etc with one another with read only or read write priveleges.

  • PB G$ 1.67 won't start, lost install disks, can I install via FW(T) mode?

    Hi all,
You, she just gives me the grey screen w/apple logo. Tried all the usual stuff (PRAM, safe mode, single user - no change. Option mode shows the drive, but when I click on it and continue, back to apple screen. I used PB as a source Firewire drive and it worked fine - I saved all my important stuff to my Intel Mac Pro desktop. No problem, so I assume the drive is fine and the directory or system software is messed up. I cannot find my Install DVD - every other Mac in the house but my PB!! How can I get around this? Can I use firewire mode on the PB and install from the Mac Pro somehow? Please, any help would be appreciated. I'd hate to have to buy new disks...
    Thanks,
    Tony Heyes

Can I use firewire mode on the PB and install from the Mac Pro somehow?
No. Since the PowerPC installer disks won't install on an Intel Mac, or vice versa that's impossible.
I'd hate to have to buy new disks...
Fortunately new disks are no more than $30 or $40 depending on how many disks came with the machine. Call AppleCare for replacement disks:
    http://www.apple.com/contact/phone_contacts.html
Note, repairing the directory from Apple's own Disk Utility and the installer disks may not always fix your problem. You may need Alsoft Disk Warrior 4.0 in the most extreme situations. Since you are backed up, that should not be a problem.

  • 2.16 MBP trying to use 128gig SSD, system won't install

    I've got a 2.16 MBP with 2 gig ram. I have a g.skill 128gig SSD (non-titan) that I'm trying to use.
When the SSD is plugged in via USB, it mounts, erases, etc. like a disk should. When installed in the computer and I boot from the install disk, the system disk says that it can't install on the drive- both 10.4 and 10.5 versions. In giving the error it shows the hard drive, but with the red sign on it.
Under the disk aid on the system disk the drive mounts, verifies, etc. I talked to mac telephone support, and they (talked to a macbookpro champion) said that the sata II on the disk is incompatable with the sata I on the MBP. I've seen YouTube videos with the same architecture SSD's running on the same laptop. And, sata II is supposed to be backwards compatable. And... the replacement drives that apple lists also are all sata II, every last one.
So, summary, the disk mounts externally. The disk mounts internally. But the system install disk won't install the the hard drive.
Is there a way to do a system install through the usb connection? Is something cracked out somewhere else on my computer causing this?

"Is there a way to do a system install through the usb connection?" yes and through firewire also.
Attach an external drive( I partition mine , a small one for the OSX install and the larger for my files or TM back up or what ever.
Anyway back to that small partition. Mount your Leopard DVD. Open Disk Utility and select restore. Drag that DVD to source and drag that small partition to destination. Select restore. Once done you can now boot into that small partition and install leopard from that partition as if you are using the DVD.
Intel Macs can boot from USB or firewire external drives. The partition mapping should be GUID.

  • My new blank hard drive won't install OSX from the disk?

For some reason my Mac book pro won't install OS through the install cd or through the flash drives. It will load the disk but then freeze when I click install. It won't load through the USB either. I have done multiple diagnostics at the mac store and they tell me that my hd is bad. Twice the hd was fresh out of the box and installed that day. I spoke to a supervisor via phone when I called apple care and he told me that unless I have all apple parts in the computer they can't accurately diagnose the issue. It feels like they're trying to con me into paying double for a "apple hd". What can I do to get my computer working?

I would purchase an external USB enclosure for the HDD. With the HDD in the enclosure, install OSX and then mount in your MacBook. If you continue to have problems, it could be a faulty internal SATA cable.

  • I purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro XI for my iMac (Mavericks 10.9.4), downloaded it and have attempted to install it 10 or more times. I have done all the usual maintenance steps (repair permissions, repair disk, etc) and it still won't install. All goes well

I purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro XI for my iMac (Mavericks 10.9.4), downloaded it and have attempted to install it 10 or more times. I have done all the usual maintenance steps (repair permissions, repair disk, etc) and it still won't install. All goes well until the installer gets to "Running Package Scripts" then it stalls or hangs up and does not finish the installation. It runs and runs and runs. It never finishes. I wind up having to force quit the installer. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hi jtento ,
Kindly enable the Root Account for the MAC and then try the installation there (in the root account). Please find below the URL to enable the root account.

  • MAC OSX Snow Leopard 10.6 disk won't complete install process

So, I received my dvd disk to install snow leopard 10.6 on my Macbook Air. I put it in, and double clicked on the Install OS X like the booklet instructed me to.
This is where my problem starts.
The disk seems to get "stuck", meaning it won't install past a certain point.
When I customized it to install QuickTime, extra fonts and language translation on top of 10.6, it would get stuck at 49 minutes and not move at all.
When I changed it to install the extra fonts and language translation on top of the 10.6 software, it got stuck at 51 minutes and would not move.
Is this normal, or is there something that's not allowing it to install?

    Hello Shelby,
Thank you so much for the details regarding the issue you are experiencing with the Snow Leopard installation.  I recommend following these steps if you are having trouble installing Snow Leopard:
    The installation wasn’t successful
If you were unable to install Mac OS X, try the following:
Disconnect any external devices you don’t need during installation.
Remove any cards from manufacturers other than Apple.
Try installing Mac OS X again.
If you were unable to install Mac OS X again, choose Utilities > Disk Utility. Select the disk on which you want to install, click First Aid, and then click Repair Disk. After repairing any problems, quit Disk Utility and then click Continue to try installing again.
If you’re still unable to install Mac OS X, try erasing the disk before installing Mac OS X. Before you erase your disk, try copying your files to an external disk. When you’re ready to erase and reinstall Mac OS X, follow the instructions in the “Restoring your computer to factory settings” section of this document.
I found this on page 7 of the Snow Leopard Installation Instructions:
    Snow Leopard Installation Instructions

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Wacom Install Disk Won't Run

I just got a new Intuos4 medium tablet for my iMac 3.4 GHz i7 running 10.6.8.  I cannot get the driver install disk to run.
Every time I click on the "install" icon, the dock install icon bounces for about15 seconds, the install splash screen half displays and then I get a screen that says "Install quit unexpectedly."  A copy of the first part of the Problem Details report is attached.  I have the whole report if that would help. I don't know what an EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) or a KERN PROTECTION FAILURE MEANS.
I'm pretty sure it is not the disk (although it could be the disk install software).  I have successfully started the install disk on 4 other Macs (all 64-bit, like this one) running a Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. It does choke, however, on my Tiger equipped G5--I just get a white unfilled splash screen, with, of course, no error report.
It's also not the drive, because the same failure occurs on my iMac from an external drive.  It also occurs if I install all of the (visible) files directly onto the hard drive.
I've also tried a few programs that use installer scripts (not the "drag to the applications folder" type) -- Photoshop CS5 and Final Cut Studio -- and they start the install process just fine.
Any clues what's going on?  I know I can probably download what purports to be the latest driver from the wacom site, but I'd rather try to resolve this.  I've had numerous similar problems lately, and I'd like not to create more.
Any clues?  If it would be more helpful for me to just upload the entire 13 page crash report, let me know.

Before you posted, I did go to the website and downloaded their latest driver (probably newer than the one the disk says is on it).  I usually do follow that practice.  Like you I've found that web downloads are practically always more up to date than the ones that come packaged with hardware like this.  No faults here; it's just most reputable companies are constantly updating, improving functionality, aligning with sytem updates and getting rid of bugs.
I'm holding my breath, but the install seemed to have worked, with no apparent problems so far.  I have some Photoshop tasks to tackle over the weekend, so I may know more then.
I am still deeply concerned about some system issues I haven't resolved, and I really don't have an answer to why this disk won't run the install software on this machine only.  I'm hoping I don't have a deeper problem.
Kurt188, thanks for the suggestion about booting into 32-bit mode.  I do have a 2011 Core i7 27 inch iMac.  I tried 32-bit, but I got the same result.

  • Pismo G3 Tiger Install Disk won't boot

Hey, I just got a G3 Pismo off eBay and I am having trouble reinstalling Tiger onto it. It's a 500 Mhz G3 and it's been upgraded to 1 gig of Ram and a 100 gig hard drive. It's currently running 10.4.11, so I know it can handle it. Whenever I try installing it just hangs on a white screen after start up. I've tried from both the internal DVD drive and an external DVD drive. One thing I have noticed is that the install disk won't show up as an option in the Startup Disk panel when it's in the external drive, even though it will mount normally.
I've tried booting as the startup disk from it's current install and from Os 9.2.2 but no luck. I've reset the PRAM/NVRAM and reset the PMU and still nothing.
    Any ideas?

Are you using a retail Tiger install DVD (black with silver X)? A gray, model specific installer for a different model Mac won't work.
I suspect your external DVD drive is connected via USB, which can't be used for a boot drive. You need an external Firewire drive if you want to boot from a DVD/CD.
What's wrong with the 10.4.11 OS currently installed? We might can recommend some fixes if there are problems.
     Cheers, Tom
