PE 11 for Mac: How to delete stubborn audio orphans?

I made a 3-minute music video that refuses to be shorter than 13-minutes, due to an audio orphan (short audio segment out in space). I am unable to move or delete this orphan. I have tried for hours. Interestingly, the main track portion is also locked in place (cannot be edited or moved), which is OK for now.
Initially, the main audio track was not locked, and it annoyingly got fragmented when video was edited, and the audio needed to be replaced a dozen times. I am told that Premier Elements does not have a lock feature, so that symptom is interesting.
In summary, what is the trick for removing an audio fragment (orphan) that appears to be stubbornly locked in place. Note that the normal "select and delete" does not work. It does appear to be selected, but it refuses to be moved or deleted.

Your suggetion is a good one, and I used that procedure first-on.
Problem is, the procedure does not work. A chat-support person came to the conclusion that "the problem is in the project." In other words, the software corrupted the project file beyond recovery. The support person did not think this would be of concern to the development team, but he was kind enough to give me a link for posting such feedback. I don't know if anyone will consider it a worthy, but I believe it is my civic duty to provide feedback about corruption defects. I can provide a copy of the file, if they want to follow through.
From the customer's perspective, having hours of work corrupted by the software does not inspire confidence.

It can depend on the version of Office Mac which we don't know. v2011 is much different from v2008 and earlier. In Word 2008, the highlight tool looks like this in the formatting toolbar:
Default highlight color is yellow. If you cannot find that icon or have a newer version of Office, you really need to ask how to get it to a toolbar in the MS Office:Mac forums at Csound1 suggests. They are very helpful. Find them here:

From what you say, you have probably opened Parallels Desktop. If you were not asked for your activation key, you will find a button called "Parallels Desktop" at the top left part of the screen, so press it, and you will find an option named "Activate" or something similar. Select it, and if Parallels Desktop is not activated, type the activation key. That's all.
Respecting to the window you are seeing now, you have to choose one option to create a virtual machine. For example, if you have got the operating system you want to install in a DVD (for example, Windows), choose DVD. If you have got the operating system installer in an ISO file, choose Image File. You can find more help in the Parallels website.

Thanks for the advice given by Shooternz, Colin and Jim. Your help is much appreciated for a beginner like me... Jim's idea was also good..It worked for me and also safe if I need to use the original audio. Following method also found good...but previous audio clip cannot be extracted after deleting it. ... 1. Hold down "ALT" key first then select the first audio clip in the chain of video clips to Delete. 2. Hold down " Shift + Alt " keys together and click right mouse button on all audio clips to be deleted one by one. Make sure only audio clips are selected. 3. Then release ALT+Shift keys and then click right mouse button and select "Clear" from pull down menu to Delete all selected audio clips on the time line. This method works very well for me. How to delete unused audio files in a project?

The question is fairly simple:
How to delete unused audio files in a project?
I can't manage to find the answer in the manual,... all I could find is how to delete audio outside used regions!
But in the projects I use, I have loads of outtakes which I don't use in the project anymore, and now, I would like to delete them of the audio folder to save space on the HD.
Can Logic select automatically the takes in the audio files folder which are not used in the project and delete them??
Because there is hundreds of audio files per project, and +/- 50 projects, I just can't do it manually.

Whoops! Yes, I knew that but a cow flew by... Sorry!
The procedure I follow is to do what I described then Save as Project, creating a project folder. That way only the required audio is saved to the folder and I delete all temporary stuff. However, if you have folders with shared material, it's much harder and would require you to go through all your projects doing Save as Project before you could delete your old working folder.
When doing day to day work, best practice is to create a new folder and only use Save as Project when you're working on stuff. Shared material (eg sample libraries etc) can go elsewhere and you can get Logic to copy those to the project folder automatically.
Otherwise, Shift-Backspace in the Audio window, as you rightly say

IPhoto had this feature where when after it has imported all of my iPhone photos, it would ask me if I want to delete the imported photos from my iPhone. Also, it has a button to delete all photos from my iPhone if I choose to. Does anyone know if this very nice feature is still available in the new Photos for Mac?
I really like this feature to clear all of my photos with one click, instead of having go thru one by one.

Photoshop elements 8 for Mac - how to move photos (events) from iphoto to pse

I have figured out how to move one photo over through opening a file. But I can't move a full event or album from iphoto. Ive tried going to bridge but when i click on the iphoto folder, it takes me into my iphoto and I'm not sure what do then, no buttons or anything that seems to connect to PSE. Any help would be appreciated! I wish Adobe supported this product better for Mac users. Maybe they read these discussions?

Are you opening iPhoto files from within Photoshop Elements? You can open all the files in an iPhoto event into PSE8 through a single click.
In Photoshop Elements, go to File menu > Open. In the browser window that appears, click Photos under Media in the sidebar. Now, you should be able to see iPhoto with all its events. When you click on an event and "Open" it, you should get all the photos of that event in the project bin.

Premiere CC for Mac - How do I fix fisheye from a GoPro Hero 3+ video?

Hi all,
First up, I'm very new to Premiere - my experience is probably less than 2 hours at this point. To disspell any concern over whether or not I'm using a licensed copy of Pr - yes, I am. I subscribe to Creative Cloud because of my need for Lr, Ps and Ai.
Anyway, I've got a GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition camera and would like to learn how to remove the fisheye effect caused by the crazy wide video that produces. In 1920x1080 "SuperView" I think it's some like 170+ degrees of view vs 127 degrees in "normal" wide mode. Those figures might not be 100% correct but they're close.
With SuperView there's some insane fisheye going on - as you'd expect, I guess. Using the GoPro software there's an option to remove it but that produces video with an aspect ratio that looks squashed. People are super tall and I lose some of the captured video at the top & bottom when watching.
In Premiere for Windows, I believe there's a video effect calls Lens Distortion - it's not there on my Mac version of Premiere CC. The tutorial I watched set the Lens Distortion to -27 and I'd like to try it. Can't though - that effect isn't there.
Is it possible to remove fisheye using Premiere CC for Mac only i.e. completely bypass the GoPro software? If anyone's wondering why I want to bypass the GoPro software - the answer is "just coz."

The 2014 release of Premiere Pro CC now has presets for specific GoPro models. This is true in PPro for Mac, too. Check out the Effects tab in the Project panel: Presets > Lens Distortion Removal > GoPro > [your specific model] > [your specific GoPro footage's mode]. Drag the effect to your clip and watch the barrel distortion go away.

Lync for Mac - How to customize profile image

We are beginning to roll out Lync for Mac (and windows) and on the Mac side there doesn't seem to be a clear cut (easy) way to customize your icon like you can do in AIM, Yahoo Messenger, etc. Knowing that I will get a bunch of calls regarding this,
how exactly do you do it? I assume it's pointing to your contact in Outlook 2011, and I checked my contact and it has a custom picture there.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I completely agree with you that M$ needs to make better Mac software - i'm having some major issues with Office 2011 especially Outlook 2011 - and that is definately not Apples fault
The reason i'm running on a Mac is due to customer demand - I'm an IT pro and more and more of my customers are introducing them as BYOD - however the OS does have very limited application support compared to a Windows system - hence Parallels and Windows
7 Enterprise on my machine
I do love that i can work on a customers VPN from the Windows side and keep the Mac side off the VPN so i can do research, browse internet, do mail and Lync etc. Really comes in hand when testeing Lync between two different organizations from one machine
I just had my first experience today dealing with Apple tech support - took me 1.5 hour to get to the right department and i had to INSIST on them gathering system information, they were going to wash their hands
After upgrading to 10.8 and latest build of Parallels 7, my machine will completely freeze from time to time
It could be 10 minutes into my work or 3 hours into my work
Apple is pointitng fingers at Parallels, since that is running all the time - and Parallels is pointing fingers at Apple because the whole OS is freezing
Apple however did finally say they would escalate, so now there is a two day wait for the escalation engineers to review my reports and data and they will then get back to me
I haven't seen a Windows machine freeze completely since before the NT days
that was one of the main features when NT came out that everything was isolated and an application would't take down the host OS
but the Mac OS is definately a lot more cute than Win, however right i have to forcefully restart my machine up to 5 times a day, making it very problematic to get any work done
and yes i still think it's a toy with it's own place in the market and we need Apple to keep MS honest
I really like both companies, and thank God we are all free to have our own opinions
