PE 12 long launch time, doesn't respond

PE 12 will launch and the program will hang and be flagged unresponsive after it gathers all the plug-ins and me unresponsive for several minutes then when the program launches the first interaction causes the program to hang unresponsive for another several minutes. This has happened on three different types of computers running Windows 8, 8.1 and having either NVidia or AMD cards. I've attempted updating graphics drivers, quicktime, changing to onboard graphics etc but the issue persists over a range of different environments which leads me to think it's an issue with some common service or setting deployed on our domain. Perhaps not relevant, attempting to run it in safety mode gave the following error in event log:

    Buttons and Switches
    Sleep/Wake button won't lock or unlock iPhone
    To lock the phone, press the Sleep/Wake button. Note: By default, if you don't touch the screen for a minute, iPhone locks automatically.
    To unlock iPhone, press the Home button or the Sleep/Wake button, then slide the slider.
    If either of the above steps don't work, try turning iPhone off and then on again.
    If the iPhone will not power off, reset it.
    Try to lock or unlock the phone.

    There is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory.
    That can happen for two reasons:
    You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
    You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
    Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
    In the Activity Monitor application, select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the  Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
    View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
    If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
    The process named "Safari Web Content" renders web pages for Safari and other applications. It uses a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider it a prime suspect.
    If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
    The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command: 
    sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
    where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.

    1. Restart
    2. Shut down the computer.
        Clean the trackpad with moist not wet microfiber cloth.
        System Preferences > Point & Click
        Try turning off three finger dragging and then turning it on after  testing.
    3. Is there any Bluetooth device nearby with failing batteries? If so, replace the batteries.
      4. Reset PRAM:   http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14222
    5. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
        "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    6. Close all windows and quit all applications.
        Click the Spotlight -the magnifying glass icon- in the menu bar. Enter Disk utility in the box.
        Select Disk Utility from the drop down. When the Disk utility window opens up,
        select  Macintosh HD, then First Aid.
        Click Repair Disk Permissions button.
        Ignore the  time remaining estimate.
        Last 1 minute may take longer.

    You have some (major) issues.
    Are you in Recovery Mode ? Used Option key or Command R to get there?
    I would grab the ML installer ESD you saved and do a clean install on another drive and begin to rebuild to a new system.
    You may or may not have TimeMachine but have backed up problem files.
    Having a bootable backup clone of your system is a must.
    Hard shutdowns will add more layers of problems and add to whatever there was before.
    Generally there is not a need to use Disk Utility other than to repair permissions either before or after installing updates.
    Have you:
    tried with everything else unplugged so you don't have any external devices
    tried with a safe boot
    Why.
    After any forced shutdown you should use ML Recovery and one Safe Boot on the first next boot from a working system.

    iPhone 6 screen doesn't respond 80% of the time.  And then it will get a mind of it's own and dial people on my favorites and open apps randomly.

    Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
    If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next thing to try:

    My ipod touch is brand new. I was playing fruit ninja when a notification popped up saying low battery 20% left. I quit game and put my ipod on the charger. Now it doesn't respond to my touch. I have to tap the numbers to unlock it several times. I can't scroll or tap on any apps. An outline of a box appears around the app if I tap it. Does anyone know how I can fix my problem? I haven't dropped my ipod at all.

    Hi since updating to safari 5.1.1 after using the right mouse click safari doesn't respond to any mouseclick anymore. I can use the keyboard and select menus but that is it. Reinstalled Safari, resetted safari and removed all preferences, caches and disabled all extensions etc. nothing helped. Any suggestions here?
    Im using snow leopard, on a dual core mac Intel xeon desktop.

    Solved it finally after a long time.. I was triggered that another user on the same system did not have the problem I scanned my user library folder: The problem was an old safari extender plugin in my Contextual Menu Items folder. After removal all is working again :-)

    i've just installed this new os x upgrade.
    when i clock on the mail icon it doesn't open and if go to kill process it says that this app doesn't respond
    what do i have to do?

    I found ~/Library/Mail (through the terminal -- the 'show Library folder' option in the view settings doesn't seem to do anything) and moved it to the desktop.
    I tried to set up mail with my iCloud account, but no mailbox. I tried setting it up with my gmail account and again, no mailbox. Phooey. Must be doing something wrong...
    Removed the new ~/Library/Mail folder and put the old one back.
    Launched Mail again and this time it *didn't* freeze! Converted all five accounts and completed it's optimization rather quickly.
    I'm guessing there was some earlier cofusion regarding iCloud that was resolved during my attempt to set up my iCloud email account...

    I recently installed a new iMac (OS 10.10.1), and Elements 8 will no longer launch, returning Error Message 150:30. Can anyone help with this?

    I've had the same problem today with my Mac.
    Went back to OS 10.8 after a disasterous few months with 10.9/
    Now Elements would open and I get that same error code message.
    I re-installed my Mac OS, but now Elements won't open. Licensing stopped working. Error code 150:30

    I think it's all to do with this FlexNet, which is nowhere to be found on my computer now.
    How do I get it back though?
    Can't find any way to contact Adobe. I do have the Elements 8 CD though.
    Okay, I've found that this is a recognised problem.

    and all the solutions tell me to find the folder FlexNet Publisher in my library.
    Problem is FlexNet Publisher doesn't seem to exist there. Can't find it anywhere on my hard drive.
    Gettting down to the end of that page gives me the following info....
    The FlexNet folders and files required to run Adobe applications can become corrupted or have permission problems if moved from one machine to another. They can also be damaged through a Time Machine system restore. FlexNet service licensing failures cannot be resolved by reinstalling the application or by using the Adobe CS5 Cleaner Tool. If permissions issues prevent the FlexNet licensing service from launching, accessing data, or communicating with Adobe processes, a licensing failure occurs.
    Well it looks like backing everything up using Time Machine may have caused all this problem. Anyone know how to get Flexnet Publisher back?

  • ADOBE READER doesn't respond (Highlighting Tool)

    I like making use of the highlighting tool in a pdf that can be highlighted and I like to change the colors as I would if I were using this as a book to help me study.
    When I highlight and click properties to change the color....I go through a lengthy process where first ADOBE READER doesn't respond.
    Then to add to my 4-7 minute wait the entire screen turns a faded white and I see that blue circle rotating around as a cursor.
    When the program decides to advance it leads me to "Highlight Properties" window which sometimes works but as of lately doesn't.  
    This entire process is very painful.  To a Dad who likes watching UFC and ACTION/VOLENT MOVIES, the pain is comparable to watching "My Little Pony" or "One Direction" videos or being forced to watch a "chick flick marathon" on Father's Day!  No offense to any of those who may partake in that sort of thing.  
    Can someone please help me before I take this program out of machine for a replacement?

    Having just read your inquiry (I don't work for Adobe, but have used Reader and several other products) by any chance is the document you're trying to work with one that was created as a PDF from a scanned document? If what you're currently looking at was created from a scanned document, then Adobe can't "read it" in that format, as it views it as though it were an "image". Get it? And it can't highlight images, as it doesn't recognize the text. (If this isn't the case, sorry, but I can't help. I purchased a program called Nitro Pro, rather than purchasing Adobe Acrobat, and it lets me create and edit PDF's. You might want to have a look at it.) I logged on here today to view a document I'd uploaded some time ago (prior to purchasing the 3rd party PDF program and just happened to see your question. I was trying to use this online version to convert a scanned document into a Word document, as long as I was here, but it appears that THIS site along with its features, are very limited. I can store PDF's that are already created, but without purchasing, not much more can be done, other than adding text to an already PDF, or highlighting, which you've had problems with.) Don't know what browser you're using, but in Chrome, they have free extensions, including highlighters, that will let you do what you're asking about on any web page. You just download the browser extension through Google Play Store, and go to it.

    Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].

  • DBCA doesn't respond in -silent or -progress_only mode (Linux Installation)

    I run the ./runInstaller in silent mode for installing oracle 10g database software only, it run successfully:

    To register the new inventory please run the script '/oracle/home/oraInventory/orainstRoot.sh' with root privileges.

    The following configuration scripts need to be executed as root for configuring the system. If you skip the execution of the configuration tools, the configuration will not be complete and the product wont function properly. In order to get the product to function properly, you will be required to execute the scripts and the configuration tools after exiting the OUI.

    The installation of Oracle Database 10g was successful.
    Now I am trying to run the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) in silent mode:
    1) # dbca -silent -responseFile /db10g/database/dbca.rsp
    It just run and take a very long time without finishing or showing any response, the process seem to exist even without being able to kill it using, kill <pid>, I tried aborting the command line by ctrl + x, it gets out to the command prompt, but I checked the process and found that it is still running.
    I tried passing -progress_only paramater to show the progress bar:
    2) # dbca -progress_only -responseFile /db10g/database/dbca.rsp
    It gives me this error and stops giving any further response

    No, I'm not looking to make oracle RAC, just though missing such files may be the reason for the dbca being stuck, it's not the reason, right?
    I am just running:
    dbca -silent -createDatabase -templateName General_Purpose.dbc -gdbname myodb -characterset AL32UTF8 -datafiledestination /oracle/home/oradata
    Which doesn't respond except with this line:

    Additional information about things i tried:
    I tried lsnrctl start, it just give that:

    #dbstart also doesn't give out any respose just hanging without saying anything or giving errors or even getting back to the shell prompt

  • IPhoto doesn't respond - twirling rainbow circle!! Can anyone help me??

    im running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.1.
    I try to open iPhoto and it just doesn't respond and i get the twirling rainbow circle.
    I then have to force quit.
    Can anyone help me??

    First try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and try to create a new, test library.  If you can't then try the following: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    If you can create and use a new library then the problem lies with your current library.  In that case  make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.

    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

    When I turn on my iPad 2 and go onto the safari and go onto google the wireless router cuts off and turns the Internet off and the Internet doesn't respond and then after I have to turn the router off and turn it on and then it is back to normal it has happening when I recently updated the new iOS 6 on my iPad since then it was been doing this please can you help and help me sort the problem out

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
