PE issues w/new computer

I have a new Best Buy standard issue desktop iMac (Mac OS X, 10.6.4) Snow Leopard.
Here's my deal... I want to use my last Mac's Photoshop Elements 3.0. I've been having trouble installing it. I get the green check mark that states it completed the install, but when I went clicked on the software to start it up I get the following pop-up.

Went to the Mac boards but they weren't able to think of the solution. Rosetta is in place. It's not like there was any trace of PSE on the computer as it's new.
I went to download the demo for PSE, it installed and worked well enough (though the demo won't allow you to work on multi-layered gif images) so I removed the demo as my old software is 98% of what the new has imo. Then tried to re-install my software. Same issue. Same pop-up.
I removed all traces of the demo and the past 3.0 install attempt, so that didn't fix it.
Mac boards told me that 3.0 works on SL.
Can you please tell me what's wrong?
Thx

Alas, I would say it works on SL, but you can't install it on SL. Some people are able to keep running it if it was on a computer where an upgrade install of 10.6 was done, but I've never been successful in a fresh install in 10.6 and I don't know of anyone who has been, regardless of what forums may say. I can only suggest going back there and asking them the trick, because I, for one, sure can't do it. If they know how to fix the memory addressing/personalization issues, great!

• Continued "Trial" and "License this program" issue on "new" computer...

I downloaded Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on my new computer from the Files on my old Computer. I do not have access to my old computer anymore. The 'Help' on my new computer is showing 'Deactivation' as a 'gray' option. I have a serial number (registered on the Adobe site) that when entered (Since it keeps telling me this is a trial version) tells me to contact Customer Support. On the Registration Page on Adobe it states this number is Registered to Adobe 9 (yet Adobe XI Pro was working on my old computer). I have no problem downloading Adobe 9 on my new computer...if it will work, but cannot find the files for download (and do not have my old computer...which only had Adobe Acrobat XI Pro). Suggestions? Just want my Adobe Acrobat Pro to work again...Thanks in advance for any assistance...

uninstall acrobat xi and clean, Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
then reinstall the version of acrobat for which you have a serial number.

• Synching issues on new computer

I am using a new computer for itunes and it's not synching my recent downloads to my ipod.  Also content on my ipod is greyed out and can't be deleted. Any idea what s going on?

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
See this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

• Softwear issue with new computer

I purchased The Rosetta Stone for German, it worked great on my old XP computer. I now havea HP ENVY 700 and cannot load the Rosetta Stone softwear. Does windows 8 not reach back to windows XP?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
There are many, many years between XP and Windows 8.1 Operating System.
The short explanation is that programming code is vastly different -- Windows 8.x does not "reach back" to Windows XP:  One must purchase new / replacement programs for those that ran on XP.

If the company from which you purchased the software has sympathy for your plight, you might be able to convince them that you deserve a program upgrade for free -- or for a discounted price.   Much of this depends on whether the company and upgrade are available.

• Registration issues on new computer

Hi,
I need help understanding the registration. I would appreciate if someone from Adobe could help me?
I have been upgrading since very old versions...I  had a disk replaced on a computer after a crash. The software installed has been working okay in the replaced hard disk....Now this computer is too outdated  and I think the logic board is going to fail soon, but is still alive.
           I just bought a new Mac to replace that one. and installed the AI. I know I'm short of a registration because of the hard disk crash....
So how do I deactivate the software in the older computer? And is this going to work since I already installed AI in the new one?
Thanks.

Hi, I did some research and I was able to found out how to deactivate the software on the older computer...so I did...
I hope it works...

• How do i transfer ebook to new computer

I've been issued a new computer at work and need to transfer e-book from old to new.  The e-book is for a course that I'm doing.  I can't seem to find instructions for doing this.  I've authorised both computers but in the process of authorising the second computer I had to reset my password.  Thanks.
Cindy

There is no automated help from Adobe or others on this.
Find the .epub file(s) for the book on the old computer.  (or if you are unlucky, the .pdf files)
It may well be in your Documents under "My Digital Editions"
e.g. C:\Users\<userid>\Documents\My Digital Editions
Copy the files using whatever method is convenient (USB stick, network sharing, ...)
Probably easiest to copy them to the equivalent folder on the new machine.
Open ADE on the new machine: one of
ctrl-O or File/Add to Library in ADE
drag-drop from Explorer onto ADE
double-click in Explorer (if ADE has registered with the .epub filetype)
As long as you have used the same AdobeID to authorize both computers, all should be fine.
It's the underlying ID that matters, and changing the password does not change that.
~~~
Also note that there is no automated help for backup either.
Neither Adobe nor the publishers guarantees a copy of you books somewhere in there servers.
Make sure you have a safe backup of all your DRM .epub files in case of computer failure.
• Itunes on new computer doesnt erase music on iphone when I try to sync it, creating storage issues that prevents me from syncing
I got a new computer and need to sync my iphone to it.  I prepared for this by transferring most of my music to the new itunes library.  I prepared a playlist to sync to my iphone then tried to sync.  I pressed "erase and sync" but itunes didn't erase anything from my iphone, and then said there wasn't enough space to sync my playlist.  I think if I can't get itunes to work i can always just restore it then sync which will be pretty much the same thing right?
Hello there, evanevan.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great insight into troubleshooting the issue you seem to be describing:
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
Although you're not getting the specific error message, the steps should help with resolving your issue:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
Restore using iTunes.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Pedro.
I've a few issues, my old computer was out of memory.  I changed to a new one which already had another itunes account (for my business)  when i upgraded to os5 my library has dissappeared as it has syncd with the new computer.  Is there any way i can restore the information previously from my ipad?  really appreciate any advice thanx in advance
Lynda-
If you still have the old computer, you should be able to connect the iPad, run iTunes and restore from a backup from a previous sync.  Now that you have it updated, you will not need to do that again.
• Switching iTunes (older version) from an old latptop with mechanical issues to iTunes on a new computer.  The hard drive, issue free, was placed in external drive enclosure.  How do I recover iTunes?
I'm trying to moves iTunes (older version) from an old latptop with mechanical issues (non working screen, keyboard, and battery) to iTunes on a new computer.  The hard drive, issue free, was placed in external drive enclosure.  This was a cost effective way instead of dumping lots of money in an outdated old laptop while I can invest it into a new laptop.  How do I recover iTunes?
I'm switching from a 3G phone to a blank 4GS in the process.  I would like to have everything that was on my 3G phone and iTunes on my new phone and computer.
Thanks
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.
• New computer / itunes library possible issues
I'm about ready to transfer my itunes library/songs to my new laptop. I've scanned the forums to find out the obvious stuff, so now I have a few additional questions.
First, my current condition. All of my music (8000+ tracks) is sitting in an external hard drive. The latest library files have been burned on a CD, and I haven't plugged in my ipod since. My new laptop has itunes 8 loaded, nothing else. Conventional wisdom tells me that all I need to do is load the library files, then plug in and transfer the song files, and then my music, playlists, play counts, etc should be fine.
Here's my concern: my old desktop (where my itunes library resided) was too wimpy to handle all the GBs of my collection, so the library is programmed to look for song files directly on my external hard drive. Will this be an issue? Further; I have less than 1000 songs originally loaded on the desktop itself, and even though all those songs are on the external hard drive, I believe itunes is still pulling from the desktop drive (I know this because if the hard drive is not connected, itunes can still play these few tracks and no more; I didn't have the nerve to delete these tracks to test further).
Whatever the solution, I would like to keep all my play counts, but if that is not feasible, I can live with it (its the music, not the stats that matter, eh?).
So in summary; can I plug and play, and if not, what's the smoothest way to get my library to recognize all my tracks? Thanks!
OK, I finally made the plunge, with 95% success (more on that later).
First, I ran with the assumption that I had consolidated my files on the external hard drive long ago (back when I started using the external) and that I didn't need to do it again.
I assumed this based on two things. One; when I temporarily changed the internal drive folder name, the files still played via the external and didn't play at all when the external was unplugged. Two; I found a post on another message board that said that if itunes cannot find it's programmed path, it'll go with the default itunes path.
Anyway, the following steps I took were successful:
I had downloaded v8 on the old computer to match with the new.
I copied both itunes library files onto my external drive.
I made sure that the external drive was F: for both computers. (a step I found on another discussion board)
I copied the library files over the blank library files of the new laptop.
Then I set my itunes preferences to organize files.
Then I consolidated my library to the new compter's drive as my means to download from the external (something that I also found explicitely on another message board).
So, everything seemed to work, except that those files that I had originally loaded on the old computer's drive never transferred from the external to the new computer. This only represents a fraction of my music, so I'm mostly relieved that the system works. I realize had I consolidated the first time, as I was instructed, I wouldn't have this problem (so much for being ultra careful, but still making an assumption leading to a shortcut leading to a 'd'oh!' moment).
I'll start a new thread later on ideas on how to move over the remaining music without messing up what's already there. But at least this finishes the thread on moving from an external to a new computer. Thanks!
• New Computer--Syncing Issues
About a month and a half ago my Macbook got water spilled on it and the logic board got fried--I took this as a sign to upgrade to the newest Pro model. I have acquired a few new ebooks recently and would like to put them onto my first-gen wifi iPad. However I don't have the ~30 books from my last computer and only about half of them were purchased in itunes, the rest given to me from friends and over the web. In short, I do not have access to all these books anymore.
The issue arises when I try to add my new book it simply does not allow me to and tells me my iPad can only be synced with one library at a time and it needs to be erased to do so.
My questions are:
a) can I get my books and apps off the iPad and how do I go about doing so
b) will I ultimately have to do a clean reset of the iPad and rebuild?
- You can transfer iTunes purchases to your new computer via:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
- You can transfer other stuff via:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2766455&tstart=30
After you transfer all stuff, you do need to have iTunes erase you iPad and replace its contents with that on your new computer. You will lose app data though. One way to avoid that is to get the backup file from you old computer and place that on your new computer and restore from backup. For locations See:
• Syncing issues with a new computer, while old computer is dead
Ok, So when I first purchased the iPod Nano 3rd generation, I still lived at my parents and set everything up through their computer. I bought music, and imported music to it from CD's on this computer and everything synced correctly and nicely.
Now, I have sinced moved out and have a new computer which I have authorized, but cannot import any of the music I imported from my CD's a few years back. On top of it, I have purchased music from my new computer, but cannot sync it directly to my iPod to actually listen too for whatever reason. The final issue is that my parent's computer is completely dead, so I cannot even go on that one to deauthorize.
Is there any way that I can get the music I have purchased recently to transfer over to my iPod? And, is there a way I can get the music I copied from old CD's into my new library on the new computer?
Try this:
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Just be aware that CS2 is very old software and will NOT work on current versions of either Macintosh or Windows computers. For example, it's incompatible with Mavericks on a Mac and Windows 8.
