PE12 - "Deleting Rendered Files" Confusion...

Thanks in advance for any assistance from anybody!
If i click on "Delete Rendered Files For All Projects"...does that delete rendered files even to the point of deleting my final video creations that i have "saved" or "saved as" in the program itself???
In other words do i run the risk of losing the videos i've created in PE12 if i proceed with a "Delete Rendered Files For All Projects" command???
Why are rendered files even kept and consume computer memory...i thought it was only a procedure to catch up with itself and make the video you are working on play more smoothly.
Many thanks again...

You are correct is saying that rendered files make the video play more smoothly.
Rendered files are preview files, when you edit a portion of your timeline(like apply effect, transition, etc.) you will see a somewhat jerky and blurry playback, to have a look at how your final video will look and play you can render only a small portion by setting the workbar area over that area. It will obviously take less time than exporting the whole video every time you make an edit.

In the timeline, we naturally made many changes over and over again.
And if everytime we made changes in the timeline, FCPX renders it to ProRes 422, then our ext HDD will be very fast fill up of unwanted rendered files. How do we delete these files ?

Delete render files to free up disk space
Project and clip render files are stored in your Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects folders. Over time, these files can accumulate and take up disk space. If you want to free up hard disk space, you can either delete unused render files or delete all of the render files for a particular compound clip or Final Cut Pro project.
    Delete project render files
1 Select a project in the Project Library.
2 Choose File > Delete Project Render Files.
3 In the window that appears, choose to delete Unused Render Files Only or All Render Files, and click OK.
    Delete event render files
1 Select an event in the Event Browser.
2 Choose File > Delete Event Render Files.
3 In the window that appears, choose to delete Unused Render Files Only or All Render Files, and click OK.
    Thank you, Ian !

  • Since Maverick update, when I try to share a video I get Error 1 frame. I have duplicated the project, I have deleted all rendered files. I have tried it several times and always gives me a different frame.

Since Maverick update, when I try to share a video I get Error 1 and a frame number. I have duplicated the project and tried to share. I have deleted all rendered files and then render again. I deleted all rendered and then tried to share it before rendering. Nothing works. I shared the project a couple of weeks ago and was fine. I only changed a small clip and can't share to burn a dvd.

    What software version? What computer?
Trash preferences. Switch off background rendering. Trash project and event render files. Do not render. Export. Do not do anything on the computer during export. Make sure App Nap is switched off in the Finder.

  • Rendering Files Deleted by...?

Something truly effed up just happened and I'm curious to know if this is a problem with Final Cut or xmas gremlins.
I'm working on an FCE project with source files on an external drive. The drive filled up so I set project settings to point to a local drive for the rendering. I'm working on an hour-long video, which with downconverting and editing takes several hours to completely render, so I left it running overnight and went to bed.
An oh-so-helpful roommate saw the laptop idle (it had finished rendering) so he closed it. Evidently, putting a macbook in sleep mode causes the external drive to disconnect. And evidently disconnecting the source drive for an active FCE project ****** FCE off tremendously. And FCE gets spiteful and mean and exacts revenge by deleting all of your rendered files. So when I awoke, I'd lost every last one of my rendered files from the weekend. Not just the latest one, ALL of them!
On the plus side, it freed up a lot of local disk space. But between the tears, I'm also curious - how is this possible? What, exactly, happened? Which step in the chain caused this wanton destruction and was there any way to recover from it? The files weren't even in the trash - they just winked out of existence.

Have your roommate pay the FULL rent for the next three months. While that won't answer your question, it might help to keep this from happening again.

Yes, if you duplicate without the render files and delete the original project you lose the render files. But render files get recreated - automatically if you have it set in the preferences (which is the default option). It just takes time.

  • How to delete the files from server through OAF page

    Hi All,
I have a requirement in which i am creating files on server through my CO code.
Now once the page is rendered, i want to delete the files from the server.
Just wondering how can we achieve this.
    Kindly advice!
    Thanks,
    Sachin

    Hi Sachin
all the methods in the processRequest() are called during loading of the page.
all the methods in the processFormRequest() are called during any action events on the page.
So Use the method in processFormRequest() : write a method in
that on which action you want to delete the file.

  • Adobe Premiere CC 2014.2: losing rendered files when using warp stabilizer

    Hi,
I am constantly losing rendered files when using the warp stabilizer. So far I have tried about every hint I could find on the web such as cleaning the cache, rebuilding the rendered files, creating additional sequences etc etc.
Honestly I am getting tired of using a product that isnt cheap in the first place to rent and where a bug like this apparently persists over several product versions without being fully fixed (I have had this problem throughout 2014 but according to forum postings others seem to have problems with much earlier versions as well).
I would be really grateful if somebofy has any suggestion how this can be addressed.
I am also happy to help testing fixes - if there are any fixes available.
Thanks a lot and Happy New Year!
    Martin

    Hi Catherine,
    Welcome to the Adobe forums.
Please try the steps mentioned below and check if it works for you.
    1. Launch Premiere Pro and create a Project, go to File menu>Project Settings>Renderer and change the Renderer to Software only mode, delete previews if you get a prompt and then try to import the clip.
    2. If step 1 fails or the Renderer is already on Software only mode, go to Start Menu and search for Device Manager, go into Display Adapters and Right click on the Graphics card to select Update driver software option, on the next screen choose "Browse my computer for driver software", then choose "Let me Pick from a list..." option and from the list select "Standard VGA Graphics adapters. You might need to change the screen resolution of your screen and once done restart the machine again.
Launch Premiere Pro and import the clip to check.

  • How to refresh and redirect into same page after deleting a file

    Hi John,
One more help I need. I implemented the brows and download file functionality in my application successfully. And I am interested to implement delete also like download. If user will click on download three options will come open, save, cancel in case of download. But like download I want to put delete link which will delete the corresponding file.
I written the procedure in same fashion as download and compiled in my schema.
    The code is here:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE download_my_file_temp_delete (p_file IN NUMBER)
    AS
    BEGIN
    DELETE FROM file_subjects_temp
    WHERE ID = p_file;
    END download_my_file_temp_delete;
    And in
    Home>Application Builder>Application ID>my_page > Report Attributes>Column Attributes
    There I am entering
    Link text : Delete
    Target : URL
    URL : #OWNER#.download_my_file_temp_delete?p_file=#Delete#
Where download_my_file_temp_delete is a procedure for deleting the file corresponding to ID .
Here id alias is DELETE so I am passing #DELETE#.
If I am click delete corresponding to any file its opening a blank page I seen URL is like
    http://abcd.com:portno/pls/workspace/owner.download_my_file_temp_delete?p_file=4031625747435433
if I am clicking back and refreshing then getting file is deleted successfully.
That means procedure is working but I want that after clicking on delete link corresponding to any file same page should appear with refresh then my problem will solved.
Can u suggest me any approach.
    Thanks && Regards,
    Ravi

[This is not John, hope that's ok!]
This kind of thing is best done by rendering checkboxes next to each file in your report region;using apex_item.checkbox(1,file_id) and providing a Delete button that would fire a after-submit process that does
    for i in 1..htmldb_application.g_f01.count
    loop
    download_my_file_temp_delete(htmldb_application.g_f01(i));
end loop;[And of course a same-page branch on the page]

  • FCP Deleting Render Files

I'm currently running the latest version of FCP (7.0.1). However, it appears that whenever I close/quit FCP, it deletes all my recent render files. Is there some type of setting or known bug that would cause FCP to delete render files?
    Thanks!
    lance

    Hi Tom,
I've returned to this project, and I'm still having similar problems - once I've tried to export a sequence, many (but definitely not all) of the renders are lost on export, or if the export was cancelled.
I've been careful to ensure that every option is enabled for the "Render All", and we've reloaded the FCS 3 software, but we're still editing from the same original projects (one project per artist for a batch of artists that we're making DVDs for).
I'd love to hear any more ideas or suggestions.
    Cheers

  • Is it safe to delete preview files/folders?

I noticed I have 30gb or more of folders in a folder called preview files.  These seem to be the product of rendering and look like a waste of space - what happens if i delete the whole lot for projects i no longer work on?  would removing these and the CFA and PEAK files damage the ability to work on the file at a later stage?  I could use the extra space!
    j

First of all, there is a difference between preview files and Media Cache files.
Preview files are those, which are created when you render the timeline. By default they are .mpeg and .xmp. If you delete them via Sequence -> Delete Render Files, .mpeg files, which represent the current state of your timeline, will be deleted, whereas the rest .mpeg files, which represent older state of your timeline, and all .xmp ones remain.
If you delete them manually, i.e. without going to Sequence -> Delete Render Files, you will be asked about some missing media on that project re-launch.
Media Cache files, some of which are .pek and .cfa, are created when you import assets into a project. You can check the Media Cache files location via Preferences -> Media.
Deleting all files from both Media Cache and Media Cache Files folders is safe: PrPro will rebuild Media Cache Database from scratch on restart. Moreover, deleting all files from both Media Cache and Media Cache Files manually sometimes helps fixing Dynamic Link or Importer Generic Error issues.

  • Is it safe to delete .fpj files?

In RH9, using Source Control 3.1.
Trying to bring in topics from several other projects. Somehow, we have managed to get all the files we want into the project as displayed in
    RoboSource
    Windows Explorer
But when each of us tries to open the project in RH9, none of us can see the topics we brought in from the other projects. Upon doing some research here in the forums, we opened a few fpj files in these folders and saw that they are scrambled.
There are dozens of these folders, we would prefer not to have to edit them manually.
So, long story long, is it safe to delete them - will they rebuild when the project is reopened?

    Hi there
When you create a folder in RoboHelp, the FPJ is part of the XML structure used by RoboHelp to manage and track topics. I would think RoboHelp will become awfully confused and project corruption will ensue if you start deleting FPJ files.

  • Can delete trace files in bdump

    Hi all,
i have lot of trace file is user dump directory i deleted all trace file.but i have confusion that whether to delete background trace files which are being generated by backgroung process in bdump directory.please any one suggest me what should i do. i know these kind of files ar only daignostic file.thanks alot in advance.

    Hi,
What I usually do is scheduling a process that deletes old files (let's say older than 1 week or so).
As you said, this is for diagnostic only, and we usually don't need old files.
Decide how much time you want to keep, and delete older files (make sure to delete only .trc files, you should keep .log files more).

  • ITunes is deleting podcast files when I don't want it to.

I installed the latest version of iTunes and set my podcast settings to only dowload podcasts from the last week (since it was trying to download podcast files that I had previously listened to, then deleted), and delete podcasts was set to off.
Now, all of the sudden, it is deleting podcast files that are 1) older than a week and 2) dowloaded with the new iTunes.
I want to go back to the old iTunes behaviour of downloading only the most recent podcast (unless it has been previously downloaded) and only deleting files if done manually!

I have to agree. I've been using iTunes/iPods exclusively for listening to podcasts since 2008, and within the past year it's just gotten increasingly frustrating and confusing to use both iTunes and my iPod for this purpose. I just found this thread because my iPod auto-deleted a podcast that I'd only listened to for 10 minutes; and I don't want it to ever delete podcasts without my consent. Truly infuriating.

  • "Missing" rendered files when quicktime exporting

    Hello,
when finished a project, everything rendered, everything looking fine, I go to File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion... (to go to idvd and mount de dvd).
But then, he tells me a file (a render file) cannot be fount and, thus, cannot export the movie. Everything is rendered and I never go to any scratch folder and never deleted any file anywhere...
What can I do? Please help!
    Thanks.

First, if you're going to iDVD export using QuickTime Movie (not Conversion).
