PE13 on Windows 8.1 and non-admin or UAC issues?

Before I try to evaluate Premiere Elements 13 64-bit, I want to ask if lingering problems related to UAC and non-admin user accounts were resolved since version 11.
It's good to see a 64-bit version of Elements come out since then.

Gordon Fecyk
On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running? For now I will assume Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Not sure what you mean by:
It's good to see a 64-bit version of Elements come out since then.
assume you mean version 11. So in that case....
Premiere Elements Windows 10, 11, 12, and 13 are 64 bit applications when installed and run on specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit. Other Windows versions are 32 bit applications in 32 bit system or 32 bit application running in the 32 bit compatibility mode of 64 bit system. On the Mac side of things,  it is my recollection that Premiere Elements 11 Mac was the first to be a 64 bit application when run on Mac 64 bit system.
It is my understanding that nothing has changed over the versions with regard to Premiere Elements and the matter of "UAC and non-admin accounts". Probably Microsoft would be a good source on that. Recent threads seem to suggest that Premiere Elements is not working with Domain accounts.
This is not Adobe. Rather a user to user forum. If you want to contact Adobe about your feature requests, you could consider the Adobe Feature Request Bug Report Form.

When you have specific problems with aspects of your Premiere Elements 13 purchased or tryout, we would be glad for the opportunity to be of assistance. Definitely recommend tryout before purchase to assure the compatibility of your program with your specific computer environment and your project goals.

  • Possible conflict with iTunes 7 and non-admin account

I've tried burning cd's in my usual windows account (limited) and it comes up with the error message "disc burner or software not found", but when I log into my admin account and try and burn an mp3 then it burns just fine. I wonder if they changed the way version 7 burns cd's...
    Any solutuions or fixes?

I'm not really looking for a way to roll it back. I was just hoping to find a fix for the current version, or make them aware that there is a problem with running it in a non-admin account.
    Thanks for the info though!

  • Trust ALL root Certifications in Windows not working for non-Admins on Terminal Server

I have been trying to setup a verification process that will allow us to us Active Directory Certifications to verify signatures. I have finally found the setting to use the Windows Store after not getting Adobe to query our Certificate Authority. It works great on our local desktop where users have Admin access, but when users do it on our Terminal Server it does not allow it. I thought the issue was access to a configuration file in the Adobe directory, but I found the setting in the Registry set correctly. But does not work correctly. One additional note is I had noticed that after I enabled it on a Non-Admin, is Adobe would say it crashed after I shut it down.
My question is what type of privilege do you need, or maybe Adobe need to access the Windows Cert Store from a Terminal Server with a non-Admin because it is not validating after confirming the Setting is enabled.
    Thanks,
    Donavan

hello, since version 26 firefox is able to auto-update on windows even for non-admin users (when the mozilla maintenance service is getting installed in the original configuration): http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/26.0/releasenotes/#whatsnew
those would be the auto-updates provided by mozilla directly - so i'm not sure if this is something that would fit in your environment. installing the .exe file of a new version (available at [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/]) on top of an older version will also update the program.

  • ColorSync and non-admin users

Is there a way to allow non-admin users to change ColorSync profiles for printers using the ColorSync Utility? Our non-admin users can launch the utility and see all the printers listed in the "Devices" section but the option to change the default profile for any particular printer is greyed out.
    Thanks.

Kurt is far more expert on this than I am, so take his advice first.
    Hi,
There are three things to consider...
#1. Profiles in use, like Fast User Switching being on and another User logged in, cannot be changed/edited.
#2. There are at least 2 locations for the .ICCs...
    /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
Profiles in the 1st location cannot be edited. ICCs in the 2nd location could have copies made & the copies moved to another User's folder & Rights/Privileges changed accordingly.
#3. See what "Scope" Colorsync reports... I think it has to do whether all users was selected when installing drivers, not certain on that though.

  • Find my mac and non-admin account

    Hello all,
so, on my macbook pro I have 2 user accounts. One is the administrator account, that I don't normally use to work. The other is a non-admin regular account which is what I log into every day for my work.
Today I upgraded to Lion 10.7.2 and went to configure iCloud, using the regular account. I saw that I could not select Find my mac as administrative authorization was required.
Fair enough, so I logged out and logged back into the administrator account, went to iCloud settings, and sure enough I was able to check find my mac. I was asked for confirmation, said ok, then closed system preferences and logged out of the administrator.
I then logged again into my normal account, and went to check the iCloud settings. I expected to see that Find my mac would be selected (although not modifiable from this account). Instead, it was not checked. Going to iCloud.com's "Find my iPhone" panel showed a message that no device was configured.
So, am I getting something wrong? Do I actually have to be logged in as an administrator to let Find my mac work? Note that, even logging in as the administrator, if I go to iCloud.com I still see that no device is configured.
    Thanks for any suggestions. Cheers.

I have the same setup as yourself (standard user for everyday use, admin user for software install and system settings change) and I was able to set up FMM in the admin account with no problems, except some pre-requisites: while logged in to the admin profile you have to 1) install the Lion HD Recovery Update, 2) enable location services in the Security & Privacy PrefPane and 3) enable Wake For Network Access in the Power Adapter section of the Energy Saver PrefPane.
I didn't want to set up iCloud sync in the admin profile but Apple made me to. Anyway, it seems I don't have to stay logged in to the admin account for FMM to work.
    I hope this helps.

  • The "Resume"/"Restore Windows When Quitting and Re-opening Apps" feature issues

The "Resume"/"Restore Windows When Quitting and Re-opening Apps" features have issues with restoring windows of various applications (Safari, Preview etc.) to the corresponding Desktops on which they were before system reboot/shutdown or app restart. E.g. Preview windows appear on random Desktops after the system reboot and on the sane (N1) Desktop after Preview restart. How to fix this?

Create a new User go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > "+" (make it an admin acct) and test the feature in this new account, if it works the problem is isolated to your User and not systemwide. If it's in your user only, it's probably a Login Item or pref file.
If it's systemwide, since this feature may not have been tested on multiple Desktops

  • Adobe Flash 10.1 (10.1.53.64) GPO and NON Admin

    Morning
There seem to be several threads about this. All with different answers I was looking for some confirmation
I have downloaded the redist flash install (Active X) for install via Group Policy (GPO)
Created (edited technically as we already deploy using GPO) the software install policy
Added flash as active x install plublished to users (we dont install based on machine)
Great works nice, BUT only if you have admin rights, other wise I get the error (In event log) you need admin rights to install this package
Anyone have a way around this, out gpo is set to always evevate for installs (Although I believe this technically only applies to non gpo msi installs) on both machine and user
Currently I have a dirty (HATE HATE HATE) msi that copies a batch file locally then launches the install as an installer account that has admin rights.
But doing it this way I lose uninstall/upgrade/etc at the GPO level
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

  • Windows 2003 server and running admin app

    Hi.
    I am using windows server 2003 R2.
    I installed weblogic 8.1 with a patch
when I try to run the admin console, only the right side functions after
login, the left side is malfunctioning. It seems to be related to an activeX
control that the page attempts to install.
I tell it to go ahead and install, however it never does nor does it throw a
    visible error.
Can anyone point out what the problem solution is?
In the meantime, it is a web app, so I can run it from another machine.
    thanks

  • Newbie Question - application install/setup for admin and non-admin users

    Hi,
I'm 100% new to the Mac environment and OS X and I'm a bit confused as to the environment and setting up applications and such for users.
I have a brand new Macbook Pro that I need to set-up.
    USER Setup
    - have a dedicated admin account called "Administrator"
    - have a user account for my son, Joe.
    - have a user account for me, Matt, so I can fool around on the machine to see if I like it enough to get one myself.
This is the account setup model I'm most accustomed to using under OpenVMS and Windows - an administrator account and separate lower privilege accounts for users.
I have managed to accomplish these three tasks ok. I also enabled File Vault on my account only.
    APPLICATION Setup
We want to install the following applications but I'm having problems:
    - Firefox, for use by all three accounts, but with separate bookmark files for each user. This is the browser we are familiar with and want to start with (sorry Safari, maybe as time goes by).
    - Eudora for e-mail for just the two user (mine and Joe's) accounts, with separate user files for each account. It's the program we're familiar with.
    - Microsoft Office for all three accounts.
    - An architectural CAD program (ArchiCAD) for use only in my account.
    - PGP for use only in my account.
My real issues appear to be with how to install apps the way I need them to be 'visible' to users.
I started by logging in as Administrator and downloading/installing Firefox.
It installed ok under the administrator account but I can't find/access Firefox when logged in via my or my son's account and I don't know what to do to give my/Joe's account access to it.
    So,
    1) How do I install an application once and make it available to all accounts (admin & user)?
    2) How do I install an application and make it useable only by a subset of users
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Windows 8.1 and IOMEGA External Hard Drive Issues

Since I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8.1 my computer will not now recognize my IOMEGA external hard drive.  How could just updating Windows not allow my hard drive to be accessed?  Please help?  I do taxes on the side and all my clients's
tax returns are on this external drive and need to be accessed.  I have a laptop with Windows 7 and it recognizes the hard drive with no problem.  Only problem is I do not want to do taxes on my laptop.  Is there a patch somewhere to help?
If not,how much trouble is it to go back to Windows 7 because this issue is a serious one with me?  I know I am not the only one with this issue because if you search on IOMEGA the issue is going on with others.  I just have not seen a real
solution to the problem yet. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

  • Non-admin users can't view GAL with Outlook Connector

Non-admin users are unable to view the Global Address List with Outlook Connector. When I give a test user admin rights (in our portal), the user can view the GAL. The VLV index is setup and functioning correctly for admin users. My versions are Directory Server 5.2 Patch 4, JES 2005Q4, Outlook Connector 7.1.222.4.
I've reviewed the ACIs on o=cp per http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-5200/gbnse?a=view and verified that they are getting passed down to the child entries. I added a new ACI for a specfic test user, but I see no effect when I run an ldapsearch as that user. Here are the ACIs:
    1. Allow Calendar Administrators to proxy

    (targetfilter = (|(objectClass=icscalendaruser)(objectClass=icscalendarresource)))

  • ActiveSync not working for Apple Devices - Windows and android devices not having issue

Recently we have had reports of users not being able to send or sync emails to / from Apple iOS devices. When we look at the ActiveSync logs, we see the affected people getting HTTP 503 errors. Yet if this person works on a Windows Mobile device or an android
Mobile device - they do not have the problem. Similarly, if the person uses the new "Outlook" app on an Apple iOS device, they don't have the problem. It only occurs with the native mail app on iOS devices.
    We have Exchange 2013 CU5 - 4 x CAS Servers on Windows 2012, and 6 x Mailbox servers on Windows Server 2008 R2 (hardware doesn't support WS2012).
We have logged a call with MS Support and they are looking into it, but was just wondering whether anyone else has seen this issue.
PS - Before anyone suggests it - we have new servers on the way for the mailbox servers, and will install WS2012R2 and CU8 on it when they arrive.  But because our executive is being affected now, we need to look at this now.

I did inital think it might be a widows phone issue but there are no other settings for me to use.  I have also tested using a windows 8 surface and I get the same issue.
I have raised the event log level on the exchange server to expert and I have seen 2 messages when I try to connect.
I get Event ID 1100:  Exhcnage ActiveSync device requests for your uses are being blocked.  This problme frequently occurs when HTTP OPTIONS method is not allowed.
I know it is allowed as the test exchange connectivity worked and passed that test.
The other error Event ID 1309 ASP.NET warning.  Part of the exception messge is DeviceTypeMissingOrInvalid
I have come across a comment that says for certificates to work you need to use windows intune or SCCM which we don't have.  Do we know if this is true?

  • Disabling Windows Explorer For Non Admins and Leaving it Enabled For Admins.

    Good evening,
I am running a Citrix XenApp environment and I need to disable explorer.exe from running for non admin users. My team and I have discovered that exporer.exe can be accessed by any app that is being used by the end user and therefore can grant that user access
to the XenApp server interface--this is a BIG NO NO!
The users do not have admin rights when in explorer.exe but they can shutdown the server. I can disable a few areas such as the taskmgr, regedit, cmd, windows+x, and I can prevent the user from shutting down the system by only allowing them to log off,
and prevent them from making changes to desktop icons, but it would be much preferred to stick it to the users and not allow them to access the XenApp server interface at all,
I have tested changing the shell for explorer.exe from explorer.exe to iexplorer.exe and this worked fine (it only displayed the desktop wallpaper for the logged on user), but the change was not reversible. Luckily, I took a snapshot of my virtual test system
    before hand.
Is there a way to prevent Windows Explorer from running for all non admins and also so that the local administrator account is not affected by the change as well? I have also tried preventing explorer.exe from running via GPO but that didn't work.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
A more robust and managable way of securing your systems by controlling which applications that can be launched is Software Restriction Policies.
