  • Font mapping in Forms 10g on Unix/Linux

    Hello,
does anybody have a adea how font mapping in forms 10g works on Unix/Linux.
As far as I know I do have to have a X-Server running on the node so that forms can mapp java fonts, is this true?
What configuration options do I have on the server.
Can I differ strictly between development tasks (consideration of developer) and admin tasks ([configuration]considerations of Application Server Admin) referring font mapping in forms 10g?
Is there any "Best Practices to this subject?
    Thank you.

    Hello Frank,
    - fontmapping takes place in Registry.dat file?!
    - According to your article "Forms: Using custom fonts in Oracle Forms Services 10g" I only have to customize fontmapping in Registry.dat file.
-Customer developes on MS-Client and uses Arial, but is surprised about displayed font, which is´nt Arial.
-Can I just customize font mapping in Registry.dat as follows (according your example)?
    default.fontMap.appFontnames=x,y,Arial
    default.fontMap.javaFontnames=u,v.Arial
What do we have to consider on client site?
What´s about java on client (JInitiator)?

  • How to use MICR fonts in Adobe forms (webdynpro java

    Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to print some MICR codes (for checks) through Adobe Forms.
I have installed some true type MICR fonts in windows and Adobe Font Manager (in ADS) as well.
It is visible in the Adobe Form design time (Font palette) and when I use the font for text, it is visible in preview too. But when I run the web dynpro application, in the online form it is converted into Standard font (Times new Roman).
Is there anyway to handle this issue.
    Please let me know.
    I am using NWDS 7.0.1

  • Change font in Adobe Form in the interface

    Hi all,
I have one issue changing the font in adobe forms.
In the interface I have as import one string. With this string I have to generate the PDF and I need to change the font.
    Here is an example:
Import string: "this is an [[FONT=CURIEL]]example of [[N]] adobe [[SIZE=15]] forms"
the characters [[ ]] indicate an scape sequence.
[[FONT=CURIEL]] means that all the following text should be in curiel font.
    [[N]] means new line
[[SIZE=15]] menas that all the following text should be in size 15.
All this text I has to be added to a string variable and paste in the PDF.
I know that I can add a new line with "cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline"
I know that with Javascrit I can change the font and the size, but for that I have to change all the text.
Is there any way to change some text inside the variable and not all of it?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Andres

    Hi UmaS,
    Thanks for your answer.
I can't use floating text because I don't know how many different fonts I will have and I can't create floating text dynamically.
    Any other idea?
    Thanks,

    Andres.

  • Should I use only standard fonts in pdf forms?

I am converting a lot of professional forms (contracts etc) into fillable and signable pdfs. The documents use flowering serif fonts like Book Antiqua, Garamond, etc. as this has a certain traditional elegant look for contracts but I am tempted to change all the fonts to either Arial or Times for 1) screen readability and 2) to prevent missing font errors when these forms are used or revised on various computers in the future. Not all computers have Garamond but all computers have Arial and Times New Roman.
Should I be using only common fonts in these forms? I need to make this decision before I create the pdfs. If it doesn't really matter, I'll retain the elegant looking fonts but if I can avoid problems in the future, I'll change the fonts.
Thanks for any advice on this.

Yes, I did mean in the form design. If someone uses the type tool to edit text in the future and the font isn't there it will give a missing font error. That could cause a headache in the future. Maybe I shouldn't be too concerned about that. (yes, I would use arial in the fields themselves.)
Also, a lot of the serif text in these documents is condensed and very small (7-9pt). Even at 9pts it's not as easy to read on the screen as Times. Screen-friendliness may trump elegant fonts.

  • How to display the COURIER font in the Form

    Hi all,
    <br><br>
I created a form with some items of "Courier New" font. Later I noticed that if the "Standards and Formats" in the "Regional and Language Setting" in the client PC was set to "Arabic", the data is <b>not</b> displayed in the items with the specified font. Instead, the data looks like of Arial font.
    <br><br>
<b>Is there a way to display the Courier font in the Form, if the regional setting was set to Arabic in the client side?</b>

    Thanks in advance.

Which version of Forms are you running? Webforms or Client/Server?

  • Embed Fonts in Designer Forms ?

    Hi,
I would like to embed a font in a form. How can i do this and which font types can i embed (truetype,postscript,...) ?
    Thanks for help.

    Hi Paul,
    I've attached both files.
maybe you can find the initial hint to solve this problem.
I don't think that it has to do with licenses, because in this case it should not be allowed to embed the fonts into a static document.
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/8.2/static_dynamic_diffs.pdf explains the differences and on page 10 you can find the font topic

  • Embed Fonts savinf a form (pdf)

    Hi,
Can someone tell me what is the difference from saving a form with or withour embed forms selected?
Without embed fonts selected, the form get smaller, what it is better, but what is the disadvantage?
    Thank you

    Hi Chris,
I know this is a dead discussion but I am having many problems with embedding. Basically (1), after saving as Dynamic PDF with fonts embedded and with permanently replace all fonts I still get weird replacements when the file is opened in Reader. Then (2), when I tried to replace all the substitutions with Arial and Times and NOT embed the PDF still shows some embedded fonts (Myriad, Franklin) when opened in Reader in doc properties. This seems Very buggy?! Is there any known issue and/or workaround. Thanks!

  • Problem with Helve font in Adobe forms

    Hi Gurus,
I am working on an Adobe form.It contains Helve Font size 10  and 14. But I am not able to find Helve Font in the font pallette while creating that form  in live cycle designer or in SAP. Is there any option to add fonts? How can I make Helve font availanle? Or is there any other alternative?
    Awaiting your valuable answers.
    Thanks,
    Raje.

    Hi Raj,
As Harman says, font must be installed on your computer at design time.
And if you want to use the font at runtime, the font must be available to the ADS.
    Just take a look at:

  • Font smoothing in Forms 10g

    Hello,
Compared to the application running under 6i, the same application running under 10g shows fonts with jagged edges. From what I have found on the forum, this seems to be because of the JAVA fonts mapping in the applet.
Is there any way to introduce some smoothing or something similar to ANTIALIASING in JAVA.
I have tried clientDPI in basejini.htm but this does not help.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Thanks but I already checked the papers related to Forms 10g (new functionalities etc...). I am just trying to see whether there are any parameters to use in formsweb.cfg, registry.dat that might help with the font smoothing.
    Thanks

  • Font Issue in Form created in LiveCycle Designer ES2

I have a PDF form that was created originally from Word's Acrobat conversion tool. Now I need to add functionality thru LiveCycle ES2 and have imported the form into LiveCycle.
There is a set of text running down the side which indicates it is Times New Roman (In LiveCycle). I have made the changes but have not touched this text at all.  The form is saved as a Static PDF.
When opened in Full Acrobat or Reader, the text running down the side is no longer in Times New Roman, but Myriad Pro.  I don't understand why LiveCycle is changing the font on text that I did
    not edit at all.
My Livecycle Form Properties are set to Embed Fonts.
Trying to understand what is going on with this font and any help would be appreciated as I've racked my brain all afternoon on this trying different things.
(As part of my troubleshooting process, I reviewed the original Acrobat form and in Acrobat that same text indicates the original font used for that text was Times New Roman PSMT and if you wanted to edit it, Acrobat would substitute Times New Roman. Not sure if this helps but thought I'd mention this....)
4/18/14 UPDATE - ISSUE FIXED FOR NOW
My original process above was to import the PDF into LiveCycle to Dynamic XML. The text would appear as Times New Roman but after adding functionality and saving, Livecycle continued to convert the text from Times New Roman to Myriad Pro. Embedding fonts and checking substitution list did not resolve.
After spending the day trying to get LiveCycle to save the PDF and keep the problem text in Times New Roman, I finally reimported the original Acrobat PDF form into Livecycle all over again but this time as a Fixed Page Layout, where the document gets imported as artwork and cannot be edited. I then added functionality in Livecycle and resaved.
    Message was edited by: LBarton

Does anyone have any tips on how to resolve this?  My LiveCycle form is a dynamic form.  It seems like livecycle Designer ES2 has corrupted it or designer ES2 has a bug that makes reader and acrobat print engine not recognize the pages.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Change font size in Forms Builder?

I wonder if it's possible to make the Forms Builder font size larger, say size 14? The purpose is to make a Forms presentation easier to follow with a big audience.

About all you can do is set the screen settings down, which results in everything on your screen being larger. Try 800 x 600.
