PE7 Not Seeing AVCHD Camera

Hello, all,
Why can't I get content from my new Canon VIXIA HF10 as an AVCHD device on PE7? I'm able to manually navigate to the files when I "Get Media" from "PC Files and Folders". But I'm curious why its not recognized as an AVCHD device and if some upgrade/patch would make it recognized as so.
Scott

Steve/Daniel,
Actually, the path you suggest here doesn't work. When I launch the Media Downloader it doesn't recognize the drive that contains the AVCHD content. That drive is recognized by Windows--I can browse to it and pull off the files through explorer. But that drive is not seen in the Media Downloader.
Susan,
This is only a minor quirk. I am able to get to the content both through Windows and by using the generic "get media from file or folder" option in Premiere. But that isn't as slick as the AVCHD browsing I was able to do with my older camera. But it's still possible to get the content and I love the camera, so don't be overly concerned about this.

It should be on the top row. If not go to settings> general> restrictions> camera and make sure the button is green.

  • IPhoto does not see my camera

iPhoto '09 did see my new Panasonic camera at first, and I could import the images and videos without any issues.
Now - a day later - there is some images and movies on my camera's SDHC card, and it does not see the camera at all. I do see the camera card in the finder. So the card is readable. It is just that all of sudden iPhoto does not see it anymore. I tried hence and forth restarting iPhoto and camera but no luck.
The only thing I did in between was loading of a bunch of images from my camera card (via Camera Connector Kit) to my iPad 3. And removing the images (the iPad 3 does not seem to recognize the videos - which is another issue...) via the Photo app on iPad. I then wanted to load the videos (and some new images I tookl direcfly to iPhoto on my iMac. But htat now does not seem to work.
    Any tips are much appreciated!

    Try these:
    1) Go to Disk Utilities and repair permission -- see if it works. If not go to #2
    2) If that doesn't work d/l a program call OnyX. Make sure you get the the specific version for the version of OS X you are running. Run the program and go to Maintenance and run all three options Permissions (reset home directory checked), Scripts (run all, but don't delete logs), and rebuild (check LaunchServices and dyld's shared cache). Then go to Cleaning. In System check Kernal and Extentions and Other components. In User make sure at least Applications and Temporary items are checked. You can check the others if you want - no harm will come, just more time. You will be asked to restart your computer each time, but ignore until you have reached this point. When you have done all of the above reboot
Test again. Your camera shoud show up.

  • I am trying to import i frame from an SD90 video camera to iMovie, but it does not see the camera. Footage goes to i photo Why?

I am trying to import video ( i frame) from an sd90 ( listed for mac) but i movie does not see the camera. It imports into i photo. Is this normal ?

If you quit iPhoto and iMovie (with the camera still attached) then put the camera into VCR playback mode. Then launch iMovie and see if it can see the camera. If not, get out the power adapter for the camera and plug it into the wall, plug the camera into the power adapter. Reboot your Mac and wait for iPhoto to launch again automatically. Don't let it import the clips, just say No, quit the program. Then put the camrea int VCR/Playback mode, launch iMovie and check again to see if it can see the camera. Once iMovie sees it the first time it should be quicker to recognize it in future. But iPhoto does try to race in there and grab everything first.
To turn this off go to iPhoto Menu in iPhoto > Preferences > Look for Connecting camera opens: (click on the pulldown menu and choose No Application) This effectively turns off iPhoto when you first attach the camera. And it opens the way to iMovie recognizing it quicker.

  • I have a MacBook Pro running 10.7.2.  I am trying to import photos from my older Canon EOS-1D for the first time since my OS upgrade.  iPhoto does not see the camera nor does Image Capture.  IC says there is not a camera connected.  Cable is known good.

If neither iPhoto not IC can seethe card it might suggest an issue with the card or the ports on the camera/mac.
Try reformat the card, change the ports and/or use a USB Card Reader.

  • IPhoto does not see the camera

iPhoto does not see the camera, although it worked really well for two years. Computer has been regularly updated. Please help, thank You.

Image Capture doesn't see the camera. I have tried with two different Sony cameras, that I have been using for a long time on this computer. It is iMac 27''. Both of these cameras work normaly in MacBook Air, that means that the problem is not in the camera, or the cards. Those are the things I have tried so far. Only difference I created on the computer is that I have, two or three days ago, installed external hard drive WD My Book Studio which is connected to the computer by FireWire 800.

  • Not seeing the camera access on the home screen after ios5 update. What's up with that?

Is anyone else not seeing the access for the camera on their home screen after the update? I thought that was part of ios5.

Double press the home button on the lock screen. On the Home Screen you still have the camera button!

  • FMLE does not see my camera

I'm using Firewire 800 port to attach a Canon Vixia HV30 camera on a MacBook Pro using FMLE 3.1. I've turned the camera on before launching FMLE, turned FMLE on before starting the camera, and checked the profiler to make sure the camera is recognized (it is).
FMLE doesn't give me any option other than the iSight. If I remember right, last time I did a live stream, FMLE saw the camera with no problem but now it is not working.
How do I get FMLE to see my external camera?
    Thanks.
    Jason

    1. Connect the camera to MAC using firewire.
    2. Switch on the camera
    3. Set the camera to DV mode (HDV will not work)
    4. Launch FMLE. You should see the camera in FMLE.
Get back to me if above steps don't work.

  • HT200199 Still not seeing AVCHD in Aperture 3.3

I upgraded to 3.3, but I still do not see my AVCHD files when I try to import them (Canon m2ts files).  I tried changing the file extension to mts or m2t, but no luck.  Clips are not 1080p60 or 1080p50.  Any ideas?

I have some AVCHD files captured on a Sony RX100 at 50 frames per second because I want the option to slow the clip to 25fps for smooth slow motion.
While Aperture does appear to import these (I suppose unorthodox for Aperture?) 50fps files, I am unable to do anything with them:
A quick look at the file info related to an "MAH03115" for example, indicates it is a 22.6 MB MP4 file that Aperture describes as "Unsupported Video Format".
Aperture suggests I open these files in Quicktime Player so I tried this and discovered I can export from Quicktime to 1080p, 720p etc. and import these back into Aperture. Seems a roundabout way to get things done.
The above seems aroundabout way to get clips into Aperture then it's a one step process in rival Adobe Photoshop Lightroom:
Just an aside: Are their rumours of Apple's intention to merge FCPX and Aperture into one application?
I suspect exporting at a lower quality format recognised by Aperture may be the answer, for now, but I'd be degrading existing files and wasting a lot of time.
It is especially frustrating as Lightroom had no problem importing similar clips shot at 50fps or in non-DVD non-Bluray formats available on the Sony RX100. Very straight forward. No extra steps necessary.
Lightroom feels a bit "busy" or cluttered for me and I found putting slideshows together more cumbersome than in Aperture. I am also more familiar with building photo books in Aperture and this feature also looks a bit cumbersome in Lightroom.
I switched from Aperture to Lightroom (with Premiere) and back to Aperture again because the Apple fiels (the photos/videos) and applications appear to be more seamlessly integrated and accessible... mostly.
When I was using Adobe, I had to export files (to the desktop) from Lightroom and import them into Premiere. Maybe I should have been using bridge.
I also felt Lightroom and Premiere slideshows were cumbersome and did not even try making photo books in Lightroom because it appears less intuitive.
    Any tips appreciated. Many thanks.

  • IMovie for iPad 3 does not see my camera roll anymore

Go to Settings - Privacy - Photos.  My guess is that you do not have iMovie switched "On"

  • IMovie does not see my camera

iMovie will not recognize my camera. My camera is a Sony DCR-SR47.
When I select Import from camera, I only see my facetime camera. I tried unplugging cables, restarting camera, changing cables, restarting iMovie and restarting the computer.
It seems pretty straightforward, but ... no camera shows up.

According to http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html?lang=en_US your camcorder is supported by iMovie '11 (Version 9).
But, according to http://help.apple.com/imovie/10/cameras/en/index.html?lang=en_US it is not supported by iMovie '13 (Version 10)
The reason is Apple  has dropped support for some of the older codecs.
So I infer you are using iMovie 10?  All is not lost, but you will have to copy the files from you camera to hard disk with Finder and then transcde them into a format that iMovie 10 accepts.  The article:
    http://lauralily10.tumblr.com/post/68120460685/mpg-imovie-mac-how-do-i-import-a- mpg-file-into-imovie
    should help here.
There are a number 3rd party apps, some free, that will do the transcoding in fact Quicktime 10 may be the easiest since it converts old codecs before playing and you can save the converted files

  • Capture mode does not see external camera

When I use the capture in iMovie, it only allows you to choose the built in iSight camera, and the external web cam is long listed as a choice. The external works fine in other programs (like skype).
Is iMovie intentionally crippled to only work with iSight in capture mode? Or am I doing something wrong?
    THanks
    bob

    Thanks for your help...
It is a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 using drivers from mac.
It does show up in USB section under apple system profiler.
It is connected through a powered hub (I have tried it directly connected with no difference).
It is recognized fine in other programs, such as Skype (you can change from isight to external web cam).
I downloaded and installed iGlasses 2, but that did not solve the problem. Curiously, if memory serves me correctly, photobooth only works with isight internal, but after iGlasses 2 install, it works (only) with external (when external is available).
Any other ideas on why iMovie does not see the external web cam?

  • Getting PE7 to see the camera

I have a sony trv27 camcorder and PE7 on a XP PC. The camera came with Pixela and it works but doesn't do much. It does however see the camcorder but PE7 doesn't. What do I do with this? Thanks.

That means you may not use Premiere Elements to directly control the camera for video capture
You may... IF the video you capture with Pixela is compatible... edit your video with PE
What kind of video is captured with Pixela?
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

  • L&T not seeing AVCHD footage from Panasonic SD9

    Hi, all,
I have a Panasonic SD9, with which I've shot several hours of footage. I've made disk images of all the cards, and they're on an external GRaid HD. I'm running an 3.06 GHz iMac Intel Core 2 Duo with all the latest updates to both Leopard and FCP (6.0.6). I've also got Perian installed.
My issue is this: When I open Log and Transfer, FCP doesn't see any footage on the disk images (or off the camera when I attach it directly). No clips appear in the window. I know that they images are correct, because I've transcoded the same footage using my laptop without issue.
An additional tidbit is that about 5 minutes after I open L&T to try to transcode, FCP crashes. It happens every time, regardless of whether I leave the window open or not.
I've turned Perian off and on. No luck. I've deleted all preferences. No luck. I've reinstalled FCP. No luck.
Thanks in advance for all of your thoughts and suggestions. Here's to hoping we can figure this one out.
    Best,
    Paul
