PE7 - Title text animation

When creating a title, you can choose to apply one of several text animations, e.g. fade, pan and zoom, etc. You simply select the text you want to animate, then choose an animation from the edit panel and click apply. My question is, when you later come back to edit that title, how can you tell which animation is applied? The animation does not seem to highlight. Similarly, the text style does not highlight, although you can tell which font and point and other characteristics are applied to selected text by looking at the text options.
The "Fade out by line" animation seems to be similar to just clicking the "Fade out" button in the opacity properties of the title (if all there is in the title is text), but no key frames are created, or at least they are not visible anywhere that I can find. There does not seem to be any way to edit the properties of one of these "canned" animations. Is this right, or am I missing something?
Thanks for any help or further explanation.

There is no straightforward location in the UI from where you can find out which animated title or which Style has been applied to a title. The Remove button in the animation panel gets highlighted only once we have applied an animation, so a user can find out wether any animation has been applied or not but cannot decipher which animation has been applied to a text.
I normally apply the nimation and click preview to see the end result, and If I like it, I keep it that way.

  • Text animation not working in Captivate 5

Hi there -- I am seeing some strange results and need some help troubleshooting.
I have one project and on the first slide I have an image, a text animation, and video.  I view it and everything plays perfectly.  Here is what the timeline and properties looks like:
I removed the video and resaved the project under a different name.
But when I preview the movie, it does not play the text animation.  When I play it from the timeline I do see the text and the animation.  But when I preview the project and publish and view the movie the text animation is not included.
This is are the settings in the second project (which match the first b/c I simply saved the project as a different name).
I added another text animation to the second project and that also did not play in preview or after publishing.  But the first project works fine.
Any ideas on why text animation would be playing in one project but not another project?
    Thanks!

Text Animation works in one and not in the other.  It doesn't matter the order in which it is located on the slide.
I have been doing more tests and just ran into an interesting bug.
    I recreated the original steps:
    1) Take the working .cptx (which has graphics, text animation,  and video)
    2) Resave under a new name
    3) Remove the video
Everything seemed to be working fine.  When I previewed, the text animation works.
Then I published using two different settings:
Version 1:  Externalize Skin, AutoPlay, No Preload
Version 2:  Nothing External, AutoPlay, Preload
Weird thing is with version 1, the skin is externalized as a separate swf, and it does not play the title text animation.
But version 2, when nothing is set to be external it plays fine.
They are both being published from the same exact .cptx only difference is how I published.

  • Text Animation: Making words in a sentence fade in one word at a time?

    Hi everybody!
I am not very experienced with the text animations in Adobe Premiere Pro (I am running CS4).
How do I create a sentence of text where one word fades in at a time until the full sentence is present? The only way I can think of doing this is the extremely tedious and hard way, which is making each word a title and fading them in and out, and even then, making sure the spacing and placement of the words follow a straight line would be very difficult... there must be a more efficient way, right? Is there some sort of preset I have missed?
    Thank you very much!

I recommend using the Keyframes in their mini-Timeline in the Effects Edit Panel. I also use the numerical settings (can be typed in, or scrubbed), to control the Effects. With the Crop Effect, you can Keyframe all four settings, Top, Bottom, Left and Right independently.
To do a "hold," just place one Keyframe at the end of a setting, and another with that same value along the Timeline to the Duration desired. There are Hold Keyframes, but I'd keep it very simple for now.
Now, this is from an earlier version of Pr, but the general tips will be the same (some additional features and a new look added) on Basic Keyframing.
The manual (do they still do those?), and the Help files will give you details, but getting the initial concept down can be a bit daunting. However, once you get your head around the concept and located the position of the various controls, you will NEVER look back, and then the Help files will make a ton mores sense. Also, once you "get it," much of Keyframing translates to AfterEffects too - just some different names and controls, but the same main concept.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Elements 9, Can't apply text animation

    Hi
I just started with Premiere Elements 9, so this is probably a case of newbie ignorance...
I set up a text title, and went to add a 'text animation' (I want the 'FadeInByLine' animation to be exact), but the 'Apply' button is always grayed out. In fact it's grayed out for all the text animations. What do I need to do to make it use the animation?
I'm running 9 on windows XP, thanks!

You are correct - Animation Presets for only 1 line of text.
Now, if you want multiple lines of text to be animated, just do one Title, per line, stack them one above the other in the Timeline Video Tracks, then apply the Animation Preset(s) of choice.
You might find these Alignment Grids useful to get everything lined up.

  • Fade From B&W To Color With Full Color Text Animation Overlay

So, this is my first time EVER  using any kind of serious video editing software.  I'm doing it LEGALLY using the University Macs and the software that is installed on it.  I'm a TOTAL novice at all of this.  I think I'm biting off on more than I can handle, but hopefully somebody can help with this.  I want a clip at the very beginning of the video to start with B&W video and fade into color at a specific point that corresponds with a point in some music that I'm using as the "soundtrack" so to speak.  There will be a colored text animation that begins during the B&W portion and then that text will need to fade before the B&W video fades to color.  I've been looking for as much information as I can about this.  I've looked at youtube tutorials and step-by-step text tutorials (I prefer text with screenshots) on how to do this, but nothing that I find seems to accommodate everything that I'm trying to do here.  If somebody would be so kind and patient enough as to humor a complete NOOB and walk me through this as though they're talking to a 12-year-old (I'm 37) who knows NOTHING about video editing, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much.

    (...and don't mind the german)
use the roll - tool on the edit for timing.

  • How to make a impressive text animation?

    Hi everyone,
I have completed my video, but now I want to add some text to it, I tried using title, and I love one of those style in there, but I want to make a impressive text animation (transition). There's no way I can do it with the effect control tab, I want text appear and disappear with fire around or appear like typing style something like that. Is that anyway to do it, or any other softwares that can easily do what I expected? Please help, this is urgent.
    Thank you.

Besides the great suggestions so far, you might want to look into a couple of 3rd party programs:
BluffTitler (I think that it has a "fire" Effect as a Preset, and does have "Typewriter")
ProDAD's Vitascene, along with their Heroglyph
Pixelan's Spice Master (more for Transitons, but you can create custom Effects too)

  • My text animations are not working.

My text animations are not working. I highlight my text, go to animations and it won't even let me
apply an animation. the apply button is not clickable. How do I fix this?

What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system is it running?
It is most likely that you are trying to apply the text animations to more than one line of text.
You can apply text animation to more than one line of text in the project's Titler but it takes special considerations.
Please review the how to details in the following.
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2013/07/pe-titler-part-1-text-animations.html
Please review and consider. Any questions or need clarification on the how to, please do not hesitate to ask.
We will be watching for your reply and will get your text animation in the project's Titler working for you.

  • Pre 9 - Text Animation

In Timeline, sometimes the "apply" button is available when I want to apply text animation and other times it is not.  How can I determine when a text animation option is available and when it is not.  Sometime the "apply" button is available and some times it is not.  Not sure when I can "apply" text animation to selected text.
    Thanks

Ah, I see. It only works on one line of text.  If I created two separate titles and group them together.  Would the titler work on the group?
    Thanks

  • Captivate 5, text animations, publish settings

    Hello All,
I have a real problem with captivate 5 and or my system.
I installed CP5, and applied the VeelaUpgrader.dll, my text animations played, as did
other swf animations (some in AS2).
I attempted to upgrade CP5 using the update patch, the patch install failed every time.
I uninstalled CP5, and then re-installed. The patch upgrade ran (or at least it said the patch
    was applied).
I developed a new project from an old project, delete all but two slides and renamed the project.
I applied the CPAnimationUtils.dll, the VeelaUpgrader.dll, and the patch from this blog:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2011/01/get-adobe-captivate-5-content-with-text-animation s-working-in-latest-flash-player-without-republishing.html.
I added some text animations to my project, called my_project_b.cptx, the old project was called
    my_project_a.cptx.  I re-published my_project_b.cptx as my_project_b, the text animations do
not play in the swf or the html file.  No text animations play.
I closed my_project_b.cptx and re-opened the file, made some changes, and opened the publish
dialog window (Shift-F12).  The project title reverts to "my_project_a", I changed the title to
my_project_b, and republished the swf and the htmls as my_project_b.  It publishs the files
but never saves the my_project_b name, it always reverts to "my_project_a".
Any ideas on any of this?  do I try to call Adobe?
my current version of Captivate is 5.0.1.624, Flash Player 10.2.152.26 (? suspect), and Windows XP SP3
    Ugh!!!

    Hello RodWard,
I tried the steps you mentioned.  This works.  But... I do not understand why this works.
It seems that that behaviour is very strange.  Could this issue be related to the cache?
    Thanks for the workaround,

  • PLEASE HELP!  Text animation question.

    Hi,
This might be a dumb question, but it's really stumping me.  I want to animate a title using some of the text animation presets, but I can't seem to apply an animation that makes the text appear AND an animation that makes the text disappear.  I can do one or the other, but not both.
For example, I want my title's text to appear with "FocusIn", and I want it to disappear with "DropOutByCharacter."  How do I do this?!  I've searched everywhere and wasted an entire day trying to figure this out!
    Thanks.
    - epompa03

Along with Steve's tip on doing two Titles (probably the easiest way to handle this), would be to use Keyframed Effects to create your animation. Since Drop Out By Character, is the harder one to do by hand, I'd just add a Blur to the Title, and Keyframe it to start out heavily Blurred (maybe even with a lowered Opacity, also Keyframed) and then Keyframe the Blur out, where you wish to have the Title sharp. Then, add the Drop Out By Character.
The beauty of Keyframing the various Effects is that you can control many at one time on a single Clip. However, the concept is not the easiest to initially grasp. Once you do, you'll likely use Keyframes in lieu of most packaged animation Effects.
Steve has a good series of articles on Keyframing on the Muvipix site. Do not recall if they are in the "free" section, or not. Since there is a ton of great material, articles, tutorials and also Assets, like Motion Footage and Menus there, a subscription often pays for itself in one day of downloading.
    Good luck,

  • How to set duration of text animations?

Scenario:  As part of my learning PrE 9 I tried to create what is essentially a slide with some bullet points. This consists of three lines of title text that I wanted to scroll onto the screen one after the other and then sit for about five seconds before the title shot ended.
However, it appears that you cannot treat the lines of text as individual objects (assuming each line is an individual text box) as you would with KeyNote or Powerpoint.
It appears there are three approaches to using the text manipulation for titles:
    Animating with the roll/crawl menu
    Animating with effects
Animating the whole title clip (is that the correct term?) by using keyframes together with motion and opacity
It seems that none of these allow you to sequence three lines of text so that they appear one after the other with specified durations unless you create three distinct title clips that appear one after the other. So that in for the first you would scroll on the first line, in the second title clip you would make the first line static and roll on the second line and then in the third clip you would roll on the third line while lines one and two were static. Then to get a static display you would create a fourth title clip in which all the lines were static.
    Is my understanding correct?
I've searched through the documentation and don't see any way to set sequence and durations of individual lines of text.
    Thanks.

You are correct - one cannot do multiple lines of Text in a Title, and then apply animation Presets.
In PrE, I would create the Title in Photoshop, or PhotoshopElements, where each line is a Layer, and the Background is Transparent. Then, Save each Layer as a separate PSD, to be Imported into PrE. Then, just animate each PSD individually, with Keyframes for the fixed Effects>Motion>Position and possibly Motion>Scale. With the Keyframes, you can pause, speed up, and totally control the animation.
The reason for doing this in PS/PSE, is that it's so very easy to align the Text Layers to each other.
One can do this in Titler, but I would suggest using alignment grids, or similar, to keep things aligned. This ARTICLE will give you some tips, and even some alignment grids.
The Title Animation Presets are very limited, and I seldom even think of using them.
    Good luck,

  • Title/text effects just for one line?

    Hi!
As far as I understood do the PE11 title/text effects work just for one line of text.
    (1) How can I produce more lines text-effects with PE11 (and more complex, like 3D-animations)?
    (2) If this is not possible, do you know any free/beginners software for doing that?
I look forward to reading your answers!
    Best wishes,
    Ronald

    Ronald,
    You are most welcome.
I am not sure what the limitation to one line of text is related to - the program coding? The animation algorithms? However, with a bit of planning, there are several ways around that limitation, but it throws people, when they first encounter it.
This article also has some tips on using Titler in Premiere (both Pro and Elements), and I have added some Adobe TV tutorials. Note: they are done in PrPro, so the interfaces will look differently, plus PrPro's Titler has some additional functions, that are not yet in PrE. Still, the basics are all the same, and I think that with a bit of interpolation, even the PrPro tutorials will be useful: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1131177
    Good luck, and happy titling,

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 13 Text Animation trouble

I have Adobe Premier Elements 13. I need to put text in my video and I would like to give it an animation, but it won't let me apply and animation. I click on the
text, then I click on the animation I want but it won't let me hit the "apply" button to put the animation on the text. Can someone please help me with this?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Text animation are active in Premiere Elements (see details in link below)
    a. whether you use Text Menu/New Text/Default Text or Titles & Text Tab/General/Default Text.
    b. the animation selected can be dragged into the Timeline or applied by going to the Apply button in the
    Titler's Animation section.
The Animation option run into problems
    a. if more than one line of text
    b. not running Default Text
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE: Titler - Part 1 Text Animations
    You mention
It's  inactive for some types of texts like title texts etc.
.Could you elaborate on that, giving
specific example as guideline. I have tried a lot of fonts including Wingding3 and have not run
into problems applying text title animation.

  • Slidelet affecting Text Animation

The opening slide of my project has a title that is Text animation.  Menu options below this are buttons that link to various slides.  On each button is a Rollover Slidelet that displays further information on the particular menu choice.  My issue is that the slidete is affecting the Text Animation.  Briskly moving the mouse over the Slidelet hotspot causes the Text Animation to replay itslef and even jut play half, so only half the text is visible.  Heres my setup:
    Slide = 8 seconds long
Text Animation = Appear after 0 sec, Display for rest of slide.  No Loop
Button = On success continue, Display for 8 sec, Pause after 7.4 sec
Rollover Slidelet Hot Spot = User clicks inside Slidelet Negative, User hover over Slidelet, NO Action
Rollover Slidelet Hot Spot = Display for 3, appear after 5
Rollover Slidelet = Display for 3 seconds
I have tried all options and set up several new projects just to see if my project was corrupt, without finding a way for the Slidelet NOT to affect the Text Animation?
    Any Ideas?

As no one has replied to me I’m guessing it's something I’m doing wrong?
Can some good soul try this and see if they get the same effect?
    CP4
    1 slide 8 sec long
Add text animation to appear after 0 sec, Display for rest of slide.  No Loop
Add button on success continue, Display for 8 sec, Pause after 7.4 sec
Add Rollover Slidelet hot spot over button, Slidelet area underneath
Add within the slidelet a standard text box with some text that lasts for 20 seconds
Basically when the user hovers over the button, explanation of 'what the button is for' appears in the slidelet and vanishes after 20 seconds OR the mouse cursor is moved off the button.
    Affect
Moving the mouse on and off the button will affect the text animation
If others are finding the text animation is being interfered with by the motion of the mouse over the button, I can just put it down to a Bug in CP4 with no fix and move on!  If others don’t find the issue, it’s me and my settings somewhere!
    All help appreciated

  • Text animation not working

'm having some issues with some text animation. I'm trying to animate certain text boxes of a slide and not others...it all seems to work when I preview it, but when it comes to actually playing the slide, the animation does not appear. I've tried using the Magic Slide (not sure if that's quite the name) but that doesn't give me the animation options I'm looking for. Any ideas?
