  • Quicktime and all quicktime application crash, can't uninstall QT too

hi all. I have an application (called Omnia Maxi) that use an old version of QuickTime (4.something). I have installed that application togheter with the version of QuickTime that comes with it (4.x). I already had the last QuickTime version (7.62.14.0) when i installed the 4.x version over it.
This application didn't work and also QuickTime 7 stop working. I uninstalled the old application and also QuickTime 4, but nothing. When I open QuickTime 7 it gives an error "Obsolete components in QuickTime. Please reinstall QuickTime" and the crash.
From the Control Panel I can't uninstall QuickTime 7. It first appears "Collecting needed information" (translating from italian) and then it appears a dialog box with just "fatal error during uninstallation" and QuickTime 7 is still here
I tried to remove c:\Programs\QuickTime directory manually and cleaning the registry with specific tools, QuickTime now installs but give me the same error of obsolete components and then crash
    How can i solve this?

Go in C:\Program Files and remove QuickTime again. Then go to C:\Windows\system32 and remove QuickTime qts and QuickTime qtx
Next use Windows Installer Clean-up Utility to remove the windows installer information for QuickTime.

Now try and run the QuickTime installer again. If you still have trouble post back

  • PE9: Crash when starting to produce blue ray

    Hi!
My PE9 crashes, when I try to produce a blue ray disc: When selecting "disc", no problems with DVD. When I click on "Blue rays", PElements crashes with the comment: "Engine for disc burning could not be initialized".
It used to work previously (I did it last a couple of months ago).
Latest Blue ray firm ware is installed, latest Windows 7 (home premium) installed.
Any idea, which could help me?

Please delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file found in the following path in Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9.0
and in the 9.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, delete the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited. Be careful not to detour off the folder path given to get to the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file.
Since this is a "it worked before but not now" issue, I am assuming that you are working from the 9.0.1 Update version for Premiere Elements 9.
How long ago did you update the burner firmware? Is the timing such that the update could be the cause of the current burn to Blu-ray issue?
If the above does not resolve the issue, then please consider
    a. Deactivate the program from the opened project via Help Menu/Deactivate
    b. Then Uninstall, the usual Control Panel way
    c. Then Run Through of ccleaner (regular and registry) to get rid of leftovers from incomplete installs and uninstalls.
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
    d. Reinstall the program with antivirus and firewalls turned Off.
Please review. If any questions or need clarification before you start, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • I installed Vaudix and now my browser is way slower and can't uninstall it

    Hi
I am using OS X version 10.8.5 and safari 6.1. I installed Vaudix which i should have never done, but can't uninstall it. I tried a virusscan; virusbarrier express but it didn't find anything. I don't have timemachine running so i don't have a restore point. If anyone knows how to get rid of it please do tell.
Safari is now way slower and i'm afraid it will affect my whole mac.
    Thanks

It seems to be a Safari extension that also installs "Genieo." There is an uninstaller, but as the developer is not trustworthy, you shouldn't rely on it. I suggest the tedious procedure below to disable Genieo.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Applications/Genieo.app
Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Applications/Uninstall Genieo.app
    /Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.engine.plist
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client.plist
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client
    /usr/lib/libgenkit.dylib
    /usr/lib/libimckit.dylib
    /usr/lib/libimckitsa.dylib
Note: Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file doesn't exist.
The following configuration file is either created or modified by the Genieo installer:
    /etc/launchd.conf
The file is unlikely to be used by anything but Genieo or something equally undesirable. Unless you know you need it, delete it in the same way as above. Otherwise, edit it to remove the line that begins as follows:
    setenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES
The above is not a file, but a line inside a file.
Reboot. Safari should now launch without crashing. If not, stop here and post your results.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension you don't recognize. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
The Genieo installer may also install the "Silverlight" web plugin from Microsoft. If you have no use for that plugin, you should remove it according to Microsoft's instructions. Don't remove it if you subscribe to "Netflix."
This procedure may leave a few files behind, but it should render Genieo permanently non-functional, as long as you never reinstall it.

  • Adobe Air Damaged can't uninstall and browser wont run

    Hi,
I am in snowed in on a remote hillside in the Scottish Highlands.
My elderly neighbour - half a mile a way has been having trouble with her computer - I am trying to help her get back online
She is running XP and IE (I believe it is 7 but as you will see this isnt easy to determine)
Her life's work is on the computer (she is a biologist)
Our internet is *very* slow - the best we can get is 0.5Mb/s
The only browser installed on her system is IE, when it starts it immediately fails with the windows message box "Adobe Air - the installation of this application is damaged. try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance" The browser then immediately exits and the computer crashes If you shut it down you then get a blue screen with an IRQL error.
If you dont launch the browser the computer seems to work ok
As there is no other browser on the computer getting a new adobe installer on it is hard
You can't uninstall as the system crashes on uninstall
I have tried going back to an earlier restore point - same problem
I have tried safe mode - same problem
It seems to be running air v 2.0.4.13090
I have searched for adobeairinstaller.exe on the system so I can try a command line uninstall but can't locate it
I think the file must be damaged and so wondered if I might hack the registry to try and stop it loading
I *think* i have backed up all of the data and email but partly due to our slow internet [the windows update process will take several days] and partly due to the fact that she reinstalling some of her apps may prove impossible I *Really* dont want to format and start again
Any help - gratefully received - Please remember there is no working browser so anything that has to be downloaded has to be done here and walked up the hill through the snow on a usb key.
install log (just the most recent section] attached
    Many Thanks
    Tim

    ok I solved it myself
1/ use windows XP built in FTP to download Mozilla firefox from their ftp site
2/ use that to download adobe air latest installer
3/ use command line adobeairinstaller.exe -uninstall
4/ better but ie still not working so go to microsoft download centre (in firefox) and download an ie upgrade and install it
    5/ reinstall air
    job done

  • PE9 crashes all the time while editing on Mac OS X

Maybe I have wrong system settings in the editing program, because every time I make the smallest change, eg. add text, the PE9 crashes. I have to render the work area after each text addition and sometimes the program crashes 5 or more times before it finishes rendering. I'm spending more time restarting the program than actually editing and we're not talking about anything fancy, special effects, layers or such, but just adding a little title here and there... :-(
Could you please help, this is driving me mad and my editing is not proceding anywhere...
The computer I'm working with is:
    MacBookPro6,2
    Prosessor: Intel Core i5
    Prosessor speed: 2,53 GHz
    Memory: 4 Gt
The material I'm editing has been recorded with a Full HD-videocamera Canon Legria HFS200 1920 x 1080, but with SD quality.
The project setting I have at the moment are HDV 1080i. Something must be off because the Mac Book Pro should have enough power to run the PE9-program.
I'm so grateful, if someone here can help me with this!
    Katia

    Hi Steve,
There are no red lines when editing just footage. But as soon as I add a
title or a transition the problems begin.
I've been fighting with this issue now while waiting for help from you guys
and I noticed that if I only render one little area at the time PE doesn't
    crash as often...
Thanks a lot for the tips what settings to use in the videocam. I will check
    them before shooting more material.
However, the material I'm working with now I can't affect anymore, unless I
can change some settings in the PE project? This is work related stuff, the
material can't be shot again and the DVD is expected to be ready as soon as
possible... So do you have an advice for the problem at hand?
    2011/1/19 Steve Grisetti <[email protected]>
Katia, the reason you need to render all of the time is because you are
    using the wrong project settings.
    >
You do not have an HDV camcorder. You have an AVCHD camcorder that shoots
    in a variety of modes.
    >
You should shoot your video only in MXP or FXP mode and then using a
Premiere Elements project using the AVCHD 1920x1080 project settings. (The
camcorder also shoots in stereo or 5.1 audio, so you must also make sure
you've selected the correct audio preset also.)
    >
If you've selected the correct project settings and you've used Get
Media/From AVCHD or Hard Drive Camcorder to download the video from your
camcorder to your computer, there should NOT be any red lines above your
clips when you add them to your timeline until you add effects or
    transitions to them.
    >
If you are seeing red lines above your clips when you add them to your
timeline, you are using the wrong project setting.
    >
Using the right project setting is key to using the program effectively and
    efficiently.

  • HELP! - can't uninstall Quicktime!! Error - 0x80040707 !!

I can't uninstall quicktime and get the following error -
Error 0x80040707 Description DLL function call crashed QTInstallCode.QuickTimeUnInstallProc
    Can anyone help??

    hiya!
okay, in this context the 0x80040707 (citing the QuickTimeUnInstallProc) usually indicates that the installation configuration information for the QT on your PC has been corrupted.
download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility, and use it to clear away any existing QuickTime installation configuration information:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
... and then use the QuickTime component of the complete uninstall instructions on the following document as a guide for manual removal of left-over QT program files and folders:
Trouble installing iPod, iTunes, or QuickTime software in Windows
once we've got the old QT scraped out of there, we'll try another standalone QT 7.0.4 install, taking a few additional explicit precautions.
download and save a copy of the standalone QT installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off all antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
does that install go through okay?
if it does go through okay, does your itunes launch again?

  • Downloaded security update 2014-002 now computer is freezing. Can I uninstall it?

Can I uninstall security update for Lion 2014-002? Afte repairing permissions before and after the download, the computer is freezing and needs restarting if not in use for several minutes.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of report—it will be very long and not helpful.

  • I can't access firefox, nor can I uninstall it, I have tried all you suggestions, nothing works

My computer crashed. It would turn on, but every time I tried to download Windows update or run a scan, it would start, then crash.
I restored the computer to a previous date setting, still crashed, as above.
I left it a few days, then opened it with internet turned off. It stayed on. I played a few hands of Hearts and Spider Solitaire, it stayed on.
After a while I tried turning on internet, it stayed on.
I downloaded Windows update, it stayed on. I ran a scan, it stayed on. I tried to use Firefox, but it wouldn't open, I opened Chrome, it worked, I connected to the internet.
I thought I would try uninstalling Firefox, nothing happens. I checked your website and tried to do it manually. Helper would not open. I tried to run helper, it displayed a message "Error. Can't initialize plug-ins directory. Please try later".
I did try later, same result. I scanned the Firefox program files with McAfee. it found no problems.
I am running Windows XP2000, home edition. Everything else works fine now, except Firefox. How can I uninstall it? Can I use McAfee to shred it?

If you have xp with sp2 then go for a clean re-install, this means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

  • PSE 13 installation freezes, can't uninstall

I've been trying to install the downloaded trial for several days. For the first 4 or 5 times the computer would crash as soon as it got to about 18%. Now it's not crashing, but it is freezing (I let it run for about 24 hours) and I can't uninstall without it crashing or freezing. The uninstall stops at 2%, and the only way to use my computer is to restart it completely.
I am running Windows 8.1 64-bit, have lots of disk space and memory, turned off my virus protection and firewall, and have been trying to install as an administrator. At this point I would just like to get the program off my computer. I've wasted the better part of two days trying to get it to install.
    Any ideas? TIA -

Yes, I Presenter 7 was installed before Presenter 8.  I have Windows 7.
I found my old thread here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5080369
I followed that.  Here is what I have done:
I ran the reg file from http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2012/08/resolution-adobe-presenter-8-installer-issue.html
I deleted all the folders and files related to Presenter 7 or 8 in
    C Drive> Users > Your User Name>App Data > Local > Adobe >
and App Data > Roaming > Adobe >
    I reinstalled everything.
    So far so good.

  • I have quicktime pro and it does NOT have the screen record mode that Quicktime is suppose to have.  Can I uninstall it and go back to an older version that would have screen recording?  If so, how?  Step by step needed.  Thank you for your time.

    Did you remove Quicktime X?
On a normal install Quicktime 7 is installed in the Utilities folder and Quicktime Pro in the main Applications folder.
You will need to reinstall OS X to get Quicktime X back if you have deleted it.
I notice yor profile says 10.5.8. Quicktime X is only available on 10.6 and above.
