PE9 - occasional black screen instead of video clip

Hi,
I have Adobe Premiere Elements 9.0.1 and windows XP SP3. In general, I don't have any problems with the software. However, occasionally, the video clip that I have imported in timeline become black (with sound OK). The rest of the clips are OK. Sometimes it helps to restart the program. But then sometime other clip is with black video. The thing is that when I do rendering, if a clip in the timeline was with black video it is then also rendered as a black part of the video.
Any idea how can I fix it? I updated the program. I also downloaded videorenderer.dll as was suggested on some other site without results.
Thank you.

From nvidia's site they don't show a 8400 ES. Do you mean 8400SE? Although "new" to you it is actually quite old (by technology standards) -  a 2008 product. So the graphics drivers provided with the card will be ancient. You should get and install the most recent version (266.58WHQL) from nvidia.
While your at it check all these other basics as well:
Install all Windows Updates.
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.9 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
Install PRE9 v9.0.1 update.
Delete BadDrivers.txt (use windows search to find it)
Run Disk Cleanup.
Run Defragmenter.
Reboot your PC.
Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning.
And give us some information about your clips and hardware:
Use the GSpot Codec Information Utility to analyse the file and post screen image.
What project preset did you use?
Where did the clip come from?
How did you get it into PRE?
Post back here with the necessary information described here: Got a Problem? How to Get Started
Cheers,

  • Black screen while playing video in itunes

    I am currently running itunes 11.1.2.32 on a windows 8.1 (64 bit) pc. I had to reinstall itunes when switching from 8.1 preview to 8.1 due to download issues. I now have a black screen when playing videos in itunes. Audio still works. Suggestions?

    I've had the same problem. Tried switching from the built in Intel video to an nVidia graphics card, reinstalled cursed a lot.
    Finally got it working the hard ware. Built a virtual XP machine (like the SP support system in Windows 7). Installed itunes in the virtual machine and can now watch my movies and tv shows. Both itunes and Windows 8.1 seem to be "not ready for prime time". I wish MS wouldn't have tried to make a computer look like a cell phone/pad.

  • On video loss, can I have a black screen instead of the QT logo?

    I have a MAX/msp app that streams MJPEG video from a camera and displays it using Quicktime.  When the camera is disconnected the image changes to a white background with the Quicktime logo.  It looks terrible.
    Is there a way to replace that logo with a blank black screen?  I tried creating my own icns file and substututed it for the icns files in
    Quicktime Player.app
    right click
    left click on Show Package Contents
    Contents\Resources\  anything that ends .icns
    but that did not help.
    I changed the application icon in the Get Info window.  Still no help.
    Am I attempting the impossible?  Or am I just being blind to some obvious solution?
    Thank you for any help you can provide.

  • Getting black screen between chunks of clip

    Hi all,
    We are developing an application which plays the series of clips one after the other. We are releasing and re-starting player object in playerUpdate block.
    We are getting black screen in between the chunk of clips while switching from one clip to another, is there any way to avoid this black screen??
    Following is the code for reference
    public void playerUpdate(Player player, String event, Object arg2) {
    try{
    main.repaint();
    //End of clip event
    if(event == END_OF_MEDIA){
    //release player
    if (player != null) {
    if(player.getState() == Player.STARTED) {
    player.stop();
    if(player.getState() == Player.PREFETCHED) {
    player.deallocate();
    if(player.getState() == Player.REALIZED || player.getState() == Player.UNREALIZED) {
    player.close();
    player = null;
    //delete played clip
    main.deleteFile("clip_"+ (main.sequencePlay - 1) +".3gp");
    //if clip is constructed then play it, else turn off PLAY status
    if(main.sequencePlay < main.sequenceDownload )
    playVideo();
    else
    main.IS_PLAYING = false;
    catch(Exception e){
    main.showAlert("Error in PlayerUpdate",e.getMessage());
    Thanks

    To avoid black screen, I'd prepare and package some pre-defined ['default' clip|http://www.dailymotion.com/films4/video/x5yxqe_climate-change-according-to-koalas_fun] within my application.
    Then, I'd play that 'default' clip while switching from one clip to another:
    //if clip is constructed then play it, else play 'default' clip to avoid black screen
    else {playDefaultVideo();} // play 'default' clip instead of setting main.IS_PLAYING = false;
    //...

  • I just updated my Firefox, and now whenever I use Youtube, I only see black screens where the video should be, but I can still hear the sounds; what gives?

    The Youtube pages load as normal, but as stated above, the player contains only a black screen, and the progress bar moves as usual when playing the clip, but I can only hear, and not see, the actual video.
    Firefox version: 3.6.14
    Windows Vista

    Thanks so much for your reply fanboy20.
    Yes, just made sure of that.  I do have the latest version of Flash player.  But I have just staggered upon the answer.  Chalk it up to being a newbi.  I was not putting my apple tv to sleep and it would not allow me to see
    you tube on my computer while it was still operating on my TV.  When I realized that, I put the apple tv to sleep and bingo, my computer runs you tube fine.   Thanks again for your response.

  • Black screen instead of TTYs after Xorg once started and leaved

    Hi,
    I've installed Arch on my laptop and experience following issue... I log in after boot and run "startx", then openbox starts properly. This is fine, but when I leave X, I can't see anything (TTY expected). I can switch to another TTY, login as root and type "reboot" or type "killall X", then log in as regular user and type "startx" to get openbox again. So there are TTYs obviously but I can't see anything but black screen.
    By leaving X (above) I mean...
    - typing "sudo killal X" in xterm
    - using openbox "Log Out" menu option
    - switching to another TTY by hitting Alt+Fn
    All of these lead to the same issue.
    I assume it's not Xorg problem, but I may be wrong of course. Is that driver related? I have Nvidia card and use proprietary drivers installed via pacman. Can anybody give me an advice where to look? Thanks a lot. I also attach (maybe relevant) outputs. If there is anything else needed to know please tell me and I'll post it.

    I was having this exact same problem, then it just stopped. I am using the nouveau driver and I have a tnt2 card.
    IIRC, I was having an unrelated problem with xorg or udev or something was having problems detecting my monitor, it claimed I had two monitors connected, I wrote an xorg.conf file and that fixed the problem. IDK if its is related or not because I don't recall exactly when things started working when I would switch ttys.
    Try using the nouveau driver and see if it does the same thing, it has a kernel module so it might make difference,

  • Black screen instead login prompt on GMA 500

    Cann't boot latest installation media. Computer is DSA-3020 with POULSBO GMA500 graphics.

  • Photos do not appear in imovie 11. black screen with frozen movie clip

    Imovie 11 Photos do not appear in the movie a black screen for picture in picture or a frozen screen with sound and no photo

    Yes
    There is one possibility
    • AVI or .avi is no Video Format/Codec - it is a container and usually contains something iMovie can not use OK.
    Open it with QuickTime-player and then open inspector (cmd+I) and read
    • Video Format/Codec: nnnnnnnnnnnnn
    What does it read ? (all of it)
    from wife Nikon D300s I read
    Yours the same ?
    Either I would
    • import it into iPhoto and in iMovie import from title iPhoto Movies at top in Events window - or
    • convert it into streamingDV .dv or AIC and use this.
    AND - my read 24fps - I would convert this to PAL 25fps or to NTSC 29.97 (if for US) by JES_Deinterlacer.

    Have you tried doing a reinstall of the software yet, or closing down programs that are running in the background? What resolution do you run at (such as 280 x 024)?

  • Upgraded but now I only see a big black square instead of video.

    specify your operating system (including 32bit or 64bit); Windows XP Service Pack 3, but I don't know how to check what bit.
    specify your web browser and version (including 32bit or 64bit); IE-7 says 128bit.
    specify your Flash Player version (check http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html); You have version 10,1,82,76 installed

    I've read some of the similar discussions, but they get complicated and so user specific, I decided to start my own.  I got an upgrade notification this morning and accepted it, but now I cannot view videos from my regular news site.
    I can't figure out how to paste screenprints of the other info requested in the other discussions (filenames in the folders), but I was able to at least confirm that my shockwave add on is enabled.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi, ok. On the H.A. still disabled-ok. On ESET upgrades, I should have said did you change programs like XP to Win7. They do update daily or more with new definitions, that is no problem If your program was ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus and it still is, then ok on that.
    When you take a look at your IE add ons, just let me know what add ons are there that are for ESET. I reviewed the AV, but they have many features and I couldn't pinpoint any other than SysInspector and SysRescue. And I'm not sure of them. Anything in the browser is what I am looking for that is ESET related.
    Your Flash files for IE are all correct. However you also have Flash files for a non-IE browser, whether that is Firefox I don't know. Let me know and what version it is.
    In the Flash files for the non-IE browser you have the FlashPlayerTrust folder, Right click on it to Open and post back all files in it please.
    Just confirm the Shockwave Flash Object in the IE add ons that it is vs 10.1.82.76 or Flash10i.ocx.
    On the black screen on those two sites, it could be that under the Global Settings manager, the third party content needs to be allowed.
    Go to : http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l
    You should see two boxes to put a check mark into.

  • 27" iMac, ATI 5750, Bootcamp3.2 and the occasional black screen with XP SP3

    Wanted to share my experience with the subject setup and potentially save somebody a lot of time and frustration. My installation would occasionally work. Sometimes it would boot into a black screen and sometimes it would work perfectly. I tried a lot things:
    1. Deleting the bootcamp partition and clean install.
    2. Renaming AppleHFS.sys, etc to *.old.
    3. Downloading and installing some mobility graphic drivers from downloadatoz.com.
    4. Downloading and installing the desktop graphic drivers from amd.
    5. Using 7zip to unzip the bootcamp3.2.exe file and manually extracting and installing the graphic drivers.
    6. Following the directions from Apple support article TS3173.
    Everytime I thought it was fixed, the black screen would appear again. One of the comments I read on the forums really struck a chord with me. "XP is getting long in the tooth." So, I ditched my XP SP3 disc and bought an OEM, 64-bit disc of Win7 Professional. So far, this has worked perfectly with absolutely NO black screens (even during installation) on my 27" iMac with the ATI 5750 graphics card.

    So, a little update on the situation...
    I tried repairing the WinXP installation from the install CD and it did not solve the problem.
    Right now I'm trying to completely reinstall Windows XP (SP2 this time) and the Apple drivers to see where the problems start to appear (at WinXP SP2 install, at the SP3 install, at BootCamp 2.1 install,...)
    Also, something quite important I forgot to mention in my first post is that the problem appeared after cloning the BootCamp partition from another Mac (iMac 20" Alum) using Mike Bombich's NetRestore tool.
    If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it!
    thanks

  • How to get rid of black screen when playing videos

    When I try to play any videos on PC all that will show is a black screen.
    Can here the audio but video screen is completely black.
    Solutions???

    Hello there JK74,
    Here is a great article for troubleshooting issues with either QuickTime or iTunes playing back videos.
    Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 video playback performance issues

    It might be a bit lengthy but it is pretty thorough.

  • Occasional black screen issue during bootup

    I sometimes get a black screen when I boot into Windows 7. For instance, when I hold down the option key, and I choose the Windows partition, I think it accepts the command, but once it does the usual routine of going black then showing a flashing white cursor (which means it has successfully booted into Windows) it sometimes stays at the black screen. Then I hear the chime like it's booted in and it's on the Windows desktop, but I can't do anything because of a complete black screen. So I have to do a hard shutdown, then do the process again, at which it starts booting into Windows properly.
    This doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally. Once I'm in Windows, I feel perfectly safe. But when I even think of booting into Windows, I get the feeling that it just might not boot correctly.

    Same here,I have a computer Lab with 25 iMacs and for no particular reason they sometimes hangup with a black screen and curser. Sometime I can boot to Win7 disk and do the repair your computer option and it will boot, do the same thing to another and it will not boot. Come back tomorrow and the one that would not boot is now working fine. I have also gotten to the command prompt and done the C: bootrec/fixboot and that might work one day and then it will not work the next. any ideas?
