Pearl 8100 Screen goes blank and Red flashing LED then will not respond.

Hi,
This is my first post here (however I'm on other forums as well) I wanted to see if anyone has come across this. 
Briefly here is the low down...
* We have BES 4.1.038 (will be updating soon to 4.5 or 5)
* Platform Version is 2.7.0.66
* Blackberry Version is 4.5.0.52
It's also showing on the BES as having communicated with the unit within the last 10 mins.
any ideas?

Hello Paul_Poker and welcome to the forums!,
I think in your situation you should look into reloading the software on the device. Just make sure you back up your data before proceeding so you can have a copy of it. Of course the application loader will take of this for you by default. 
1)  Here is how you back up your device. 
2)  Here is how you reload the software cleanly on the device (Alternatively, Here is an article on how to use the Web-Based software loader) 
3)  Here is how you restore your data to the device if it is not backed up automatically

         Press the "Delete All" button
         Install Adobe Flash Player.

        Quit Safari.

    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.
        Press " Manage Website Settings" button for more options.

    Standard troubleshooting...
    Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if, it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
    - Press the red (-) to delete all apps from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done.
    If still a problem restore with your backup.
    If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
    If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

I run into situations similar to this about once per day during the work week, as I use my phone is this manner quite often. While not life altering it is quite frustrating. Can anyone here help me figure out a way to avoid this? If it helps, I have noticed a general downgrade in overall performance starting two system updates ago (apps opening more slowly, closing unexpectedly more often, etc.). I have an iPhone 3GS with the latest OS update.

    I could be corrupted backup.
    You can check the notification settings for message.
    Settings>Notification Center>Messages>Alert Style
    It should be on Banners or Alerts.
    Settings>Messages> Turn on Imessage and send as SMS and below that "Blocked" to check if you have any numbers block might be blocking the message.
    You can also do a hard reset by holding power and home till it restarts and release after seeing the apple logo.
    Still doesn't work? Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings

    Yes, your battery is likely toast and in need of replacement.  Not much else for troubleshooting here.  Sorry.

    I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
    When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
    At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
    I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

    It sounds like your iPhone may be restarting unexpectedly while you’re using it. Take a look at the article linked below and, if you haven't already, try installing the latest version of iOS on your device.

    Did you reset your iPad like this: Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.

    HI there,
    I have a dual G5 with 4GB RAM running 10.5.4
    I keep a process running for about 10 minutes and eventually the screen goes blank and the batch process stops. when I move the mouse of touch the keyboard the screen comes back and the process resumes.
    I have power save options off including the hard drive is unchecked.
    the screen saver is turned off too.
    what could be Happening here?

    Several of my Tecra 8100s have a problem with the screen going blank. They can be fine for ages or it can happen 3/4 times in a minute. Anyone know what the problem is and/or know how to fix it? Doesn't seem to matter how much ram there is or how big the hard drive is it still happens. At the moment all I can do is press the screen button or close/open the LCD lid.

    I can not be sure if this is correct answer or not. But my Tecra 8100 was giving the same problem. Screen used to become so dim as if it had gone blank. And this would happen just about any time(many times in a day or not for weeks). Then all I could do was - hit the power button. Then one day it went blank and did not come ON only for 1 month. I showed it to a service guy and he said it was BIOS problem. He installed the updated BIOS and I did not have that problem for over a year now.
    But again, I am no expert so sombody pls reconsider my suggestion.
