Pearl 8130 not charging or connecting but USB port is not bad

3 days ago my blackberry pearl 8130 (purchased new nov 2008) ceased to charge or connect to the computer.
-have tried pulling battery
-have attempted with 4 other batteries, 2 verified good while in another phone
-have restarted computer (still does not see phone, even as USB peripheral)
-have used several cables and wall chargers
-have reinstalled DM6 (does not see phone)
-have installed java command prompt (does not see phone with any command)
-have installed verizon apploader (does not see phone)
-when battery is pulled and plugged in screen shows battery icon with cross
-when plugged in and on will show charging icon for 1-2 seconds then will not charge
-when plugged in while off will flash green charging light twice then stop
-can connect bluetooth
-the first day i got it to charge 3 times (charging icon stayed on screen and battery did infact charge), apparently randomly, but since then is completely unresponsive to USB connection (again - either wall or computer)
What are my next steps? I can only think to try cradle (on order, arrive 2-3 days) or spanking new battery (on order 2-3 days)
Can i reinstall blackberry OS from the phone itself?
Has anyone else seen an issue like this?

Hi kbirish37,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Can you verify that Windows does not see the device at all? In Windows Device Manager, expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers and verify the BlackBerry is in the list. If not, if you disconnect the device while this list is open, does anything disappear from that list? Are you able to test on another computer? You may be able to clean reload the device software with the following, however this will delete all device data. http://bbry.lv/dl7hmf

  • My ipod touch will not charge or connect via usb

When i plug in my ipod touch, it only recognizes that it is plugged in for a few seconds at a time. Therefore, it will not charge, and this occurs no matter what cable i use with it, whether i plug it into my computer, or into the wall with an adapter. I also cannot use itunes with it because of this. I have already looked through the forums for other people having the same problem, but most of them just got useless answers such as checking the troubleshooting guide. I would prefer a "REAL" answer to this. To be completely honest, all that the troubleshooting guide tells you is how to do an idiot-check on yourself. I have only had the ipod for a few months, two at the most, so a depleted number of recharges in the battery is highly unlikely, especially since the computer also will not recognize it. An error message comes up saying that it does not recognize the device. Thanks for any help!

I have checked for problems with the connections, but from what i can see with the naked eye, nothing appears abnormal. It is very strange, and very sudden. It just stopped in the middle of a charge. The apple store is my next step. I just wanted to see if anyone on here had some extremely eye-opening solution or check. thanks though!
I'm also within warranty, so it's not a huge problem.

  • IPhone 5s is not charging in my car USB port.

Hi everyone, I am new to posting here in the apple support community so please forgive me.
Last weekend I recently just purchased the iPhone 5s - my first iPhone (I have previously owned iPods, iTouch and the Macbook Pro; so I am familiar with Apple products). My car (Hyundai Accent 2012) has a USB port near the cigarette charging port, along with an aux cable port. My previous android phones were able to be charged using the appropriate cord through the USB port, as well as my iPods and iTouch. However, when I attempt to use the USB port, to charge my new iPhone 5s, it wont charge whatsoever. The lightning bolt, on the iPhone, will flicker and then finally I will get a pop up stating that the charging device is not supported by Apple. Is there any way that I can change this in my phone settings? Because, the car USB port has worked for other devices and iPods in the past. I have even used the same cord that came with the iPhone and it still does not work. So, I know it's not a cord issue.
Has anyone else had this issue?
    Thank you!

It's not working with my Hyundai either.  Apple did something with the USB port when they came out with IOS7.  It worked fine with IOS6.  Now you have to sync your phone in the car using Bluetooth and the sound quality is horrible.  They need to fix this!

  • IPhone 4 will not charge - it connects, but then disconnects

    iPhone 4 8gb/White. Purchased November 2011, AT&T.
Just started happening Saturday (2 days ago).
Plug in the 30-pin connector, and USB to PC: it will chirp, but then stop.  This same PC/USB connector supports 2 other iPods (4th gen) and a iPhone 4S (granted, not all are plugged in together, but one at a time!), and the White iPhone 4 is the only one with the issue.
Tried on another PC, USB plugged directly in, no hubs, no extensions, again, a cable that is tried and true and works on other iOS devices. SAME problem. Chirp-on, then disconnect after 1 second.  Does this repeatedly 3 or 4 times in a row, then gives up for a while.
Tried with straight USB AC power cube - same result.   Tried a different USB AC power cube - same result.
I have tried to power the phone off and charge it with the power off, but when the port wakes back up, it turns the phone back on.
I managed to keep enough charge in the phone to update it from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1. Also did a "reset all settings" - and the problem persists.
I have NOT yet done an erase all settings (is it necessary?) or restore, but mostly because the port won't stay connected long enough to do so.
This phone has NO liquid sensors tripped, does not have a lot of use on it, only has 17 total hours usage on cellular usage.
I have an appointment at the Apple store tomorrow. Is there something I should try in the meantime?
    Recap:
I have ruled out the cable, the PC, power cube, as all other iOS devices work fine with the combination of cables/chargers/etc.

Clean the dock connector using a soft, dry brush.

  • My ipad is not charging while connected to any device via usb cable

my ipad is not charging while connected to any device via usb cable

If you mean that you've connected it to a computer's USB port then a lot of computers don't provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.

  • My ipod touch 5th gen will not charge when connected to pc. works when plugged into wall

I just got my 5th gen ipod today, and when i plug it into my pc (and my roommate's) they make the sound as if something is connected, but my ipod does not charge. When I plug it into my wall charger, it works fine. I've tried multiple cables, and multiple PCs, but it makes no difference. The weirdest thing though, is when I restart my computer, when it is about to close windows, it starts charging for a few seconds, then turns back off. This is so confusing. Any ideas?

Sounds like the computer's USB ports do not provide enough current to charge the iPod when the screen is on. I would connect a partially discharged iPod to the computer for a couple of hours and see it it is charged.

  • Not charging or connecting to itunes

I have been trying to connect my nano to itunes (using windows platform) but my computer is not recognizing it through the USB port. I did let my nano run low on power to the point it wouldnt turn on anymore. I did the "hold down menu and select" trick and it brought up the apple logo and then died. I have tried to charge the ipod through a wall charger cradle but so far (it has been in for a couple hours) it wont turn on or even reset. Just a blank screen. As blank as the stare I have when I am looking at it. I have read posts that seemed to be related but nothing has worked thus far.

    You can try here:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
However, if you have acces to aonther computer that is know to connect to iPods I would try the other computer first.  The iPod damage may be causing the problem

  • Iphone 5 not charging or connecting to computers

My iphone 5 is not charging or connecting to any computers. The iphone will charge on the computer when it is fully dead but stops charging when it gets enough charge that it turns on then it wont charge anymore on the computer, it will not connect to the computer at all and I have tried 4 different computers. Please help.

Charge the iPhone to a wall outlet.
    Try a different USB cable.
    Try different USB ports.

  • Iphone not charging or connecting to mac or PC

I have a new iphone 3GS. It worked perfectly for 3 weeks then I got a message that I had a USB power problem on my Notebook. For 4 hours I could not connect to the notebook and later when I went to charge it on the mains itwould not charge either. However, just before I went to sleep I tried to charge from the mains again and it worked. On waking up the battery was down to 30% and not charging. For 8 hours I could not connect or charge, then for no reason it connected to my notebook and charged fully. When I got home however again it would not charge or connect to my imac, notebook, mophie or mains. Tried later and all worked so recharged. When I disconnected, it wouild not reconnect to Imac at first, but after 4 or 5 attempts it did fine. Next day at work it will not charge again or connect. Any ideas of the problem and solution?

Yes, I tried four different cables and two different computers. Electrical charger is also not working.

  • Has anyone ever experienced the situation where plugging in the USB connector to the charging source (high-power USB port or Apple charger) halfway, then pressing it in firmly, results in the iPad not charging?

Has anyone ever experienced the situation where plugging in the USB connector to the charging source (high-power USB port or Apple charger) halfway, then pressing it in firmly, results in the iPad not charging?

It's highly likely that there is a poor connection in the phone - either a pin in the dock connector or internal wiring harness.  No software fixes or "tricks" would work, but I would recommend restoring in iTunes, first using a backup and if needed restore as a new phone.
Otherwise, opening and repairing the phone takes some tech knowledge that can't be relayed here.  Apple doesn't repair phones other than replacing batteries (not inconceivable that you have a bad battery), but offers "out-of-warranty" replacement (refurb) phones for $149 (US).  3rd party iPhone repair centers may be able to fix it for less.  Google to find them,
    Tried soft and hard resets
FYI, there's no such thing as "soft" or "hard" resets in iPhone terminology.  There is only one phone reset. You'll see those terms thrown around by technically ignorant posters, but they mean different things to different people and are actually archaic, 1980s PC terms that have nothing to do with iPhones.

  • "Device connected to USB port has malfunctioned and is not recognized"

When I hooked my nano up to my computer today, the screen went black with a silver apple icon on it...it's still all lite up and on...but it won't change from that screen.
And my computer says, "Device connected to USB port has malfunctioned and is not recognized", so it won't show up in iTunes.
    What do I do?? Thanks.

  • HT1719 my ipod shuffle 4th generation will not charge or connect to the computer, I updated iTunes and I got a new charger.

My iPod Shuffle will not charge or connect to the computer. I updated iTunes and bought a new charger. Any ideas? Thanks

My question was, when you connect the shuffle to USB, does the light come ON?  From the way you answered, I'm not sure if you are answering that question, or saying that the light does not come ON when you move the power switch on the shuffle to the ON position.
Also, what happens when you connect the shuffle to your computer by itself, with nothing else connected to USB?
If you get no response (no light) from the shuffle when you connect it to USB by itself, trying both the original USB cable and a new one that is compatible with the 4th gen shuffle, try connecting something else to the USB port to confirm it is working properly.  It would be best to test the USB port with something similar, such as a USB flash drive or external drive.  If you can confirm the USB port works properly, it is likely that the cause for this problem is on the shuffle, such as a faulty headphones jack or bad logic board.
If the shuffle is less than one year from purchase date, it is under warranty.

  • My ipod will not charge or connect to Itunes.

So I have tried everything, plugging into 3 different chargers, into the wall and pc. Two different USB ports on the pc. And yet nothing. I have done all the hold down the top and home button for 10 seconds then also a minute and yet still nothing. It was was working fine charging and every thing and I unplugged it walked out of my room for about 5-10 mins go to plug it back up and nothing. I have been searching for over a hour looking for solution's. What is really crazy about it it that if I turn it off then plug into my pc the apple logo will pop up and it will come on and it seems to have charged some. But it still will not charge while on or be recognized by my pc or Itunes. I know it can't be any of the prongs on the charger port bent because it would not charge while off. Someone please help!! Thanks

  • IPod will not charge or connect to itunes

Hello, My name is Perla and I am a proud customer of Apple. I bought my iPod Touch 4G 8G on March 17, 2011. I had no problems over the course of almost a year. Last week, my iPod would not charge or connect to iTunes. I took it to the Apple Store and they exchanged mine for another. Just a couple of days ago, my new iPod had been experiencing the same problem. As of now, it would not charge to my computer or any outlet for that matter or connect to iTunes. I want to take it to the Apple Store and get it checked out but I'm afraid they won't exchange it again, they'll probably charge me and I don't have the money. Any ideas or suggestions?

I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.  You warranty is istll in effect.  The warranty for a replacement iPod is 90 days or the remainder of the original warranty, which  ever is greater.
