Pearl syncing problems and unspecified errors

Hello all,
I have had this bbpearl flip for about a month now, and over christmas I added email and total internet to my phone package, so I am in the process of setting up all of that. Ever since I enabled the web and whatnot, I have been having sync problems. I tried to add email addresses to my outlook contacts by importing a .csv file, which gave me a box that said "Unspecified Error occured" during the sync. I have reinstalled the desktop manager software (v4.6) and the device software, and restored my harddrive to an earlier version. Everything seemed fine until I tried to use my bluetooth adapter to sync with my laptop. Turns out that the adapter doesn't work very well with Vista (which is what I have) so I have abandoned that idea for now. This morning when I plugged in my phone to sync, I am getting an Unspecified Error again. The last time I synced this way it worked just fine, and I don't know of anything I have done in the meantime to mess it up. Any ideas?

Hello,
I haven't had to do so in quite some time, but I recall that if you do an export from Outlook, the order the data is in will be the same order that the sync process uses...which should enable you to find the record in question. However, that's from Outlook to the device...and you say you are doing the reverse...
Perhaps if you use the Desktop Software to perform an export from the BB, the records may well be in the order needed?
Good luck!

Meaghan, I already responded to your topic. Plus, it is simply not good to bury your post in other people's topics, and just for the future, if you have a problem without a good answer, don't post what has already been said in a thread. I know, the discussions take a little getting used to, but it is easy to get the hang of it after a couple of visits. You'll get it sooner or later. I know you will.

  • Sync problem and unusual amount of "Other" in memory usage

I have an iPod touch with 8.1.2 installed.
I will begin by the sync problems I was experiencing two days ago. First, some songs I tried to manually add were greyed out in the list. Then the sync got stuck at "Waiting for chagnes to apply". Then, all the songs in the iPod seemingly got corrupted. After some restores, the memory usage bar showed DOUBLE the amount of memory used, and half of that was "Other". 48 GB of "Other".
After restoring a copy from the day before, and then installing 8.1.2 (I had 8.1.1) the iPod seemed to sync right. Then, I noticed two things. First, many songs and albums didn't had the artwork. Second, many songs were missing. (I should say that I manually manage the music in my iPod). Today, I started manually adding songs and albums. After syncing many album covers were still missing. Then, after adding some abums, almost 10GB of "Other" appeared on the usage bar.
I would like to know how to solve this issue.

Restore the iPod since you have to remove the corruption and also:
stuck on waiting for changes to be applied

  • Sync problem - Outlook Exp -- "error occurred remapping record identifiers

What does this mean? It's preventing me from syncing my iTunes as well. Thanks.

Hmm, I think I just solved this, at least for me: on the Info pane of the iPhone's settings in iTunes, I checked Mail Accounts down in the Advanced section, so it replaced the info on the iPhone with the latest Mac settings. Then I synced again, and didn't get the message.

  • GF4 AVI Capture/sync problem and solution.

    1.9ghz Athlon, 512MB RAM, 2x80GB hds, G4 ti4400 128MB card, SBLive Xgamer sound card. Win98SE OS.
Now that I've fixed my Mpeg2 capture in WinProducer 2 and WinDVR, I've still had a problem with raw AVI capture. Audio/video sync is usually off with programs like VirtualVCR, iuVCR and even Adobe Premiere 6 (when it recognizes the WDM drivers at all) irregardless of resolution/sound encoding.
However, http://www.virtualdub.org/">VirtualDub works perfectly... I've managed to record 720x480 uncompressed or lossless compressed (HuffyUV codec) video with 48khz stereo PCM sound, no sync or frame drop problems.
Hope this helps. Too bad FAT32 doesn't let me capture more than a few minutes of full video before it hits the 4 GB limit and WinXP is impractical for me to upgrade to.  :(

    Welcome to the forums
    A battery pull is recommended:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • Syncing problem. Major Error. Help!

Im trying to sync my music on to my ipad and then it says that it cannot sync to my ipad because of an internal device error.
I dont know what to do.

Hmmm, we might have a problem then if iTunes says it cannot find your music.
To give you a brief explanation of how itunes works:
iTunes shows you your music. This music is going to be stored in a folder called "iTunes Music". iTunes creates a database file that points the iTunes software to where the music is located. So if you uninstall iTunes it will not delete your music as well, your music is still on your computer because it was never really "in" iTunes. iTunes just points to where it is so it can be played.
However, if you are getting messages that your music cannot be found then you may have a serious problem. Can you play the music on your computer through iTunes without any problems?
if so, then there is a problem with iTunes talking to the iPad. If you restore the iPad and this still happens then you have a problem with iTunes. At that point I would recommend reinstalling the iTunes application. That should clear up the problem, if not then I am not too sure what to tell you to do next.

  • ITunes Store Connection Problem and R6025 Error

I have a problem with iTunes (v 7.6.2.9) on my desktop machine that I haven't been able to resolve. The same version works without problem on my laptop, both are fully up-to-date XP SP3 installs with no iTunes add-ons.
iTunes starts correctly, but then does one of three things:
    1) It hangs during connection to the Store, with the bargraph almost at the end of the travel.
    2) It brings up the Store page, but although I can move the cursor around to click the Store links, nothing happens. Eventually the 'Accessing iTunes Store' bargraph may appear but it never connects.
In both of these two instance, no error messages appear, the Store simply locks up. I can still use iTunes perfectly as a player, access my library etc. However, I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to close the iTunes process from the Task Manager.
    3) As per (2), but about five seconds after the Store appears, an error box pops up:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Programe: C:\Programe Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    R6025 Pure Virtual Function Call
    Pressing OK closes iTunes.
I've done all the obvious things - removed and reinstalled, cleaned out registry errors using jv16 Powertools 2008, I've even used Process Explorer to examine all the dlls in use with iTunes and compared the version numbers to the correctly working version on the laptop - they're all the same. I've also run a low-level memory error checker, but it passed with flying colours.
So I'm a bit stumped to know how to take this any further. I know other people have had R6025 problems in the past, but they seem to have generally been resolved by installing a later version of the application... which isn't much use to me, as I'm on the latest already. Incidentally, I did try going back one version to 7.6.1, but that behaved in exactly the same way.
If anyone has any ideas about how to troubleshoot this sort of problem, I'd be very interested. I'm assuming that I have another application conflicting with iTunes, but I've no idea how to find it.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Yay! I've found the culprit...
For historical reasons, I still maintain my old Compuserve 3 account as my public e-mail address. Part of the CS3 installation is a Remote Password Authentication system called Virtual Key. I noticed that these dlls were being invoked during Store connection attempts, which I thought was a little odd.
I deleted the following files from Windows/System32: (annotations courtesy of the Compuserve info text file for Virtual Key)
RPA.DLL - The dynamic link library that implements the RPA protocol for Virtual Key.
RPACFG.DLL - The dynamic link library that implements the Virtual Key accounts wizard API and other configuration APIs.
RPAWINET.DLL - The dynamic link library that is required to enable Virtual Key for Internet Explorer, version 3.0.
RPASSPC.DLL - The dynamic link library that is required to enable Virtual Key for the Internet Mail client and other non-web clients.
RPAEDIT.EXE - An editor application for editing Virtual key Accounts as well as viewing and deleting sites from the Virtual Key Site List that is created by Virtual Key when accessing secure sites.
RPAUI.HLP - Help for Virtual Key features.
VKUNINST.DLL - An uninstaller program for Virtual Key.
    RPAINFO.TXT - This file.
As I only access Compuserve through the proprietary CS3 front end, removing Virtual Key has had no impact on my Compuserve mail system and iTunes is now working perfectly.
I hope this information might be of some use to others in the future!

  • Itunes sync problems (and wish list)

No doubt the iPhone is the most beautiful mobile phone with the greatest (and most consistent user experience). Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for iTunes! This tool (and being forced to use it) is the single greatest frustration in the iPhone experience!
I am sure many may not agree with me, especially considering it works fairly well as long as you don't change computers, want to sync two different iDevices (with same account BUT different content), temporarily remove apps/songs because of storage limitations, use app folders and expect iTunes to respect their content and placement, or try anything else outside iTunes limited scope. In short, iTunes is either incredibly non-inuitive, I am an idiot for not figuring it out, or it is absolutely the worst part about the iDevice family.
My problems began when I changed computers and since then, I have not been able to sync to my new computer. The problem is (or seems) that iTune is insisting on syncing in *one direction only*, with the message, "Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPhone "xxxxxxx" will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library." This message appears when I attempt to check the Sync Apps check box.
So what do I do? I have already deleted iTunes and reinstalled it.
    - Yes, I have right-clicked on DEVICES, and selected BACKUP and SYNC and TRANSFER PURCHASES (why so many options AND what the heck are the differences?)
    - If I ignore that dire warning and select Sync Apps, the preview window shows all my apps in a jumbled mess. In stark contrast, my iPhone apps are arranged in my own logical order and placed in organized app folders. I am afraid if I click SYNC, this is the mess that iTunes will send to my iPhone!
All I want to do is start over... I just want to back up (or sync) the contents of my iPhone like I have done for the past two years.
Can someone please tell me how to sync iPhone ---> iTunes?
I love iDevices... if I have to purchase another tool, I am happy to do so.
    What about Touchcopy? http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php?gclid=CPqksPK0wbICFYdxQgodV EQAGQ
Or is iTunes more capable than I realise?
Thank you for your kind assistance!

Oh yes, my wish list for iTunes:
    - Clearer messages that are more intuitive than what appears now.
    - The ability to store/swap apps/music/etc. temporarily off-line (because of iDevice storage constraints)
A backup/offline storage area that is ignored when syncing
    - iTunes should respect apps and app folder content and placements
    - Allow for multiple iDevices (with different content) on same iTunes account
I have an iPod, iPad, and iPhone - I want to be able to independently sync them on a single computer
      with a single iTunes account.
    - Make it easier to sync in either direction (and change sync direction)
    - Allow syncing (or backing up) of apps content. For instance, QUICKVOICE app! I cannot sync the content of this app! Apple doesn't allow access to the datastores (like Android) - very frustrating that I may have to resort to backing up this audio analog via an audio cable! Ridiculous!
    - Allow us to use the iDevice as a temporary USB storage device! Grrr... this is frustrating that I cannot do this! I admit, this has little to do with iTunes
However, it is the forced requirement of iTunes that is frustrating. This means that I cannot easily place documents to/from my iPhone (documents too large to email) when I at work because iTunes is not an allowed software.

  • Address Book Syncing Problems and Won't Restore

I sync address book between two computers using .mac, and also publish it for another family member to use. This was working fine under Tiger, but I've recently noticed some issues in Leopard. Occasionally, instead of merging records, it will double them up. This morning, I noticed I had twice as many contacts as I should. For some reason, it added my entire .mac address book again back to my computer. Other times it had done that with only a few of the contacts.
Fortunately, I had done an Archive my address book just the other day. Unfortunately, it didn't help. I went to restore from the Archive using "Import" and "Address Book Archive". It warned me it was about to replace my entire address book with the Archive, but then nothing happened. All my contacts disappeared, but then all of them came back again, still doubled. I know it was not doubled when I did the archive, so it didn't really restore my Archive.
I finally fixed my doubled contacts problem by doing a one way sync from my second computer (which had not yet been affected by this) to .mac and then a one way sync from .mac to my laptop. I then turned off .mac syncing.
Then, a little while later I had 20 more contacts! I realized that this came from the fact that the address book is published and the subscriber has editing rights. But she did not add them. It was again a doubling problem, this time in the sharing function. So I turned off editing in sharing.
All is back now but I won't turn .mac syncing or shared editing back on until I understand what happened.
    Anyone else see these issues?

leopard 10.5.1 on macbookpro. instructions to fix missing sync for my treo 650 including backing up (exporting) then restoring the address book. i also am unable to restore.
the backup archive shows 6 MB.
i click import, choose the archive, verify that i want to replace all. the address book then shows only the address that was highlighted before import, still shows 1152 cards, but no other cards are visible. verified the search box is empty.
if i quit and restart address book, the original version of the address book is still there. apparently unable to import address book.

  • ICal, Google Calendar, syncing problems and duplicate entries

    Hi everyone:
I could use some help. Oy.
At work, we use Google calendar, and that hosts my appointments. I find the Google web-interface impossible, and would like to use iCal to access the data on the Google servers. I have no problem doing that with iOS--my iPhone and iPad manage to sync up fine, and syncing works in both directions; i can add and delete either on Google or on the iOS devices and everything is fine.
But on my desktop machine, I have problems of two sorts. First, once I follow the steps to add a calendar, the syncing seems broken; I can add and delete from the Google web interface, but nothing deleted from the desktop gets passed to Google. Second, I have many duplicate entries that show up on my desktop and some very old appointments that no longer should be on the calendar show up out of no where.
What I'd love to do is a full reboot, eliminating all calendar data everywhere (except on the Google servers, of course, where the work stuff is stored) and start from scratch. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance--
    Roger

    Keith Murlless wrote:
My issue is that when I follow directions and go to iCal/prefs/accounts, and click the "add" button.... I don't get (anything). No pop-up windows in which to enter my google account information.
Have you tried rebooted your Mac? (Not needed often, so we Mac users often forget to try this. ) Are you logged on with an admin account or a standard account? (Or one with Parental Controls enabled.)
Sometimes I'll find the dialog window "behind" my other windows. Try not to click or move your mouse after you click the plus button. Or try moving windows around or minimizing them so that any windows that are hidden behind other windows are then shown. (In fact try closing all apps and Finder windows to reduce the possibility of this issue in the first place.)
(BTW, your question really is separate from the original question, since the OP already has their Google account added to iCal and you are having trouble adding the account. In the future you'll want to start your own thread so that you can also mark posts answered or helpful.)

  • Sync problem and more

When I attach my new Ipod to my computer, it indicates it is syncing, but then it shuts off and the Ipod no longer shows up on the device list. Also, there are no playlists listed. Not all of the podcasts I've added to my library appear on the Ipod after synching. What could be the problem?

Have you tried restoring your iPod? Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Lenovo S10 start-up problem and possible error code

    Good day,
Two days ago I purchased our second S10 system.  I liked the system previously purchased for my son and decied to pick one up for myself.  I purchased a Lenovo DVD-ROM drive and a 2GB Kingston memory DIMM, pn KVR667D2SO/2GR.  Everything worked fine out of the box and during the first 24 hours of ownership I did the following, in the following order, without incident.  During these installs the DVD-ROM was attached to and powered by the right USB port
    Installed PKunzip
    Installed Microsoft Office 2003
    Installed Microsoft Visio 2003
    Installed Microsoft Project 2003
Installed all available Microsoft service packs and urgent updates related to these products as well as for XP
Uninstalled Avisys v6.0 and the current update to v6.0H
Installed Thayer Guide to Birds of North America v3.9 and the current update to v3.9.5
Installed Garmin MapSource North America v6 and upgrade to v8
Attached a Seagate GreeAgent Go 500GB USB hard disk via the left USB port.
    Installed the Kingston 2GB DIMM
Besides rebooting during the required prompting during these software installs and update installs, I rebooted and shutdown the laptop numerous times without incident.  Internet and intranet access was through the wireless ethernet port.  The first night of ownership I left the laptop powered up and it went in sleep-mode as expected.  Everything has worked flawlessly and as expected.  I used the laptop throughout the day for internet access, trying the RJ45 port for network access to test its functionality.
The second night it was powered off and left unplugged from its power cord.  I carried the device in my cushioned briefcase to and from my car and my destination, never removing it from my bag.  Went I got back home last night the laptop would not power up.  I have tried removing/re-inserting the battery, powering the device without and without the AC cord plugged in.  I have tried reseating the internal hard disk.  I have even replaced the 2GB RAM DIMM with th eoriginal 512MB DIMM that came installed with the laptop.  Nothing is connected to either USB port and nothing is connected to the RJ45 port when I try to power up the laptop.
I am getting the same error result each time I try to power up without the AC cord - the right-most front panel light remains on and blue while the center front panel light flashes six (6) times as orange.  When the AC power cord is connected the center front panel light remains on and orange.  When I press the startup button the right-most front panel light remains on and blue but the laptop does not start.
Can anyone tell me what various front panel errors conditions can be expected, and what problem(s) they might represent?  I purchased this laptop from Circuit City the day before they formally announced their plans for liquidation.  I would expect that the store will give me a hard time if I try to return or exchange the laptop.  Also, with all the time and energy I've already invested in this particular laptop, I'd hate to have to go through this installation all over again.
    Thanks in advance,
    David

A couple of things to try:
Try using the one-touch recovery button to see if your machine boots...or...press F2 repeatedly for a few seconds after pressing the power button to see if you can enter the BIOS setup.
Remove the 512MB DIMM and try to boot with the onboard memory only.
Press the space bar repeatedly after pressing the power button - hibernation problem.

  • How to resolve corrupt JPG problem (and plist errors) in Aperture

After restoring from a Time Machine backup, I have been unable to create a new backup, and I suspect that the problem is down to some of the JPG files on the original backup being corrupted. As a result the restore over-wrote the good versions inside my Aperture library. Aperture's own rebuild option does not help.
I ran TechTool's file structures test and it reveals that some of the PLISTs in my Aperture Library do ´not contain valid content'.
The individual JPG files are all there within the packet, but some of them refuse to open in preview or copy to another drive.
What tools could I use for attempting to recover these image files?

A combo updater is different from a version update - the combo updater contains all the patches of all the previous updates of the major version. 10.6.8v1.1 combo updater will update any version from 10.6.0 through 10.6.7 - which you would use if having to reinstall from DVD.
Corruption is a possibilty in any network connection when pushed to the edge of its achievable speed. If can happen over wifi or wired connections. It does not result from packet loss, because packets are guaranteed by the network stack. Corruption of data within a packet can occur. Thats where the checksums SHA1 and md5 can be used to guarantee with a very high probabilty that a file is intact.
So certainly the fix for corruption involves getting a more reliable network connection - in general wired is better than wireless and strong signal is better and slower is better than faster.
For those without options to connect to a more reiable network, repeated attempts at download will usually result in a good copy eventually.
