Peculiar problem in SU01

Hi SAP Gurus,
We are facing a strange problem with transaction SU01 in our recently upgraded ECC 6.0 system.
The system was previously ECC 5.0.
When we try to reset the password for a user from the 'change password' option in the initial screen of SU01,it is just not working.After entering the password when we hit then enter key or press the 'tick' button, the screen just does not go and the password does not get reset as well.
However, if we go into change option for a user in SU01 and go the logon data tab and enter the new password for that particular user, that works and the password is reset for the user.
I have seen such a peculiar problem for the first time. If anybody has faced this before and has happened to resolve it, would be great if you could help us with the solution.

I have seen this 3 times already, here in the forum.

OPEN Dataset - Peculiar problem

Hello experts!
I am facing a peculiar problem with ABAP keyword OPEN DATASET.
I have a directory to which I am adding new files using OPEN DATASET FOR OUTPUT.. this works perfectly fine in the Consolidation system. But the same thing does'nt work in the Production system! It return SY-SUBRC = 8
After reading several other posts on SDN and other forums, the following causes were touted.
1) Path incorrect
2) No Authorization
But upon checking, neither of the wo are possible because the path is maintained properly and the authorizations at OS level are given (R/W) to this folder. Moreover, the user has S_DATASET auth object!!
Then I read somewhere else that having multiple Application Servers could be a possible cause and that running the code as a background job would be afix.. Is it so?
Even if it is, the application is in ABAP Web Dynpro and is launched from the portal.. hence launching it as a background job is not an option... Any solutions?????
Any help on this would be appreciated...

Hi,
Yes this is true that if we are having the multiple application server then this kind of error occures if your specified directory is not mapped on the alll the avaiable sAP application servers.
I guess when ever you are running your application then system will pick the appkication server based on the present load. Hence if your directory is not mapped in that application server then you wil get this kind of issues,
so i guess check with you basis team that spctified path is avaiable in all the application server.

I have encountered a peculiar problem in MM01 material master upload. The
BDC program uploads data using Session method. The problem is when i
process the session in foreground mode the data uploads successfully, but
when i process it in background mode it gives the following errors in the
log.
'Control Framework: Fatal error - GUI cannot be reached'.
'Runtime error RAISE_EXCEPTION has occurred'.
When i debugged the program i found that this error is encountered when
data is being input in 'Purchase Order text' editor of MM01 transaction.
There is no problem with the BDC recording or the program as i could see.
The only problem what i believe is the system is unable to call the text
editor for inputting purchase order text data in background mode.

I have a Power MAC G5 dual 2ghz that has a peculiar problem. The monitor will not report until the machine is stopped and started 5 or 6 times. Once booted it will restart without problem if done so from the apple menu. Swapped out all hardware

My Power MAC G5 has a peculiar problem. The monitor fails to report until the machine is started and shut down 5 or 6 times. Once it has booted it can be restarted without incident from the Apple menu. I have swapped out all of the hardware. Monitor, Memmory,Video Card and reset the PRAM. After resetting the PRAM it booted on the first attempt and I thought it was solved. But the next day it was back to starting and stopping until the Monitor came on. Does anyone have a suggestion? It could be a bad PRAM battery corrupting your PRAM. Typically when I have monitor issues on startup it is a bad PRAM battery.

If you have a digital multimeter you can check the condition of your present battery. It should read at least 3.2V if it is the 3.6V half-AA battery type. A new battery provides 3.67 Volts DC. A bad battery provides under 3.2 Volts DC. Ideally this should be measured while the battery is under load; added recommendation from Hans777:

Peculiar problem in LDB ADA with company code selection

<h5>Hello Colleagues, </h5>
Faced a peculiar problem with company code selections in LDB ADA. Entered depreciation area, dep posting perios, lower and higher value of company code and would like to except few companies from selections. On pressing extension button, error message "Depreciation area 01 is not defined in chart of depreciation" is popping up and not allowing to provide exceptions for company codes. But working well in development systems. We are using ECC 6.0 systems and in both systems we have same lines of code for SAPDBADA.
During debug, found that in development system, control coming to initial statements after PAI event. But in other systems, control skips few initial commands after PAI and directly jumps to later commands. Due to this FNAME parameter in PAI subroutine setting with '*' in other systems and 'BUKRS' in dev system.
Could anybody give me some thoughts of why system behaving differently?

Some - or most? - ODBC driver, especially MS for SQLServer and Access, don't support these advanced JDBC features.
Like the messages says: they are optional features, and the driver doesn't implement them.
A good news:
you don't need them.
Just go through your ResultSets only forward by next(), and do all inserts, updates and deletes with executeUpdate() and SQL commands.

A peculiar problem in BBPSTART

Hi Guys,
I am working in SRM since last 3 years and was a part
of 2 implementations.I am doing customizations on an
SRM 4.0 server for training purposes.In the process
I have came accross a very peculiar problem in the
BBPSTART transaction.In the screen after user logs
in, if he/she clicks any link e.g. Shop, in the
middle another session opens.The shop screen is
never displayed.
Has anyone seen this problem before? I was trying to
find a note on this, but couldn't.Please
suggest a solution for this.

Peculiar problem with Essbase (Calc Script) - substitution variable / UDAs

This is odd but I have a script like :

Now the problem is that the first fix statement works just fine, but the FIX statement in the 'second part' throws an error
Error: 1200354 Error parsing formula for [FIX STATEMENT] (line 66): expected type [STRING] found [EXTVAR] ([iloop]) in function [@CONCATENATE]
If I hard code the 'second part' FIX statement to the substitution variable directly - it works just fine.
How can the first statement work and not the second one ? They are exactly the same.

But it still does not entirely solve my problem (please see my previous post depicting a requirement similar to ours )
- We have lots of countries (50-60+ might be much more) and each country can have multiple entities (3-4 on an average - can go unto 7-8)
- so good guess would be around 200 entities
- So say I have to do it for 2 countries only (two entity types). Then I need 4 variables - 2 for each country ('country 1 ET1 total', 'Country 1 ET2 Total')
When the list is 20 counties - variables become 40 :(.
- Still leaving aside the 40 variables for a bit -
There are subsequent steps of calculations which needs to be done based on these totals (which are exactly the same for all countries) - just that we need the correct totals to begin with and the rest is already stored in the DB
So since I have a different variable for each country - I cannot write one single calculation block to use the variables sequentially one by one (can I ?)
I might have to write a separate calculation block for each of these countries. (20 separate blocks)
That's what I was trying to avoid and simplify with the substitution variable (but is not working)
- Create substitution variables - which would store the alias of the required countries (2/10/20 as many required)
- Loop through these substitution variables - using them one by one
- So I just need one single block of calculation with all the variable in the calc script being reused after each country calculation is done
- and the user need not go into the script, as the only thing that will change are the countries. And he can change it easily through the substitution variable.

A peculiar problem using jsp:include conditionally

This is regarding usage of jsp:include in Myfaces 1.1.4.
lets say the page containing the jsp:include statements as PARENT PAGE
I have a requirement to display some components in the PARENT PAGE which are continued from the same form using different JSPs since the components are different based on a condition.
I used the following code:

But if I am using the above displayed code to have both the jsps (actually only one will be displayed bcoz the same condition is used)
then its not displaying all the contents of included jsp. (YES I AM ABLE TO GET TO THE JSP...THERE IS NO ERROR) There is a datatable inside this jsp which is not rendered......
I have used <f:subview> when i faced this problem.......
I have tried every combination....writing <f:subview> in the PARENT PAGE ....writing in included jsps and removed it from PARENT PAGE.....also some of the articles in the forum mentioned that <f:subview> element should not be used inside <h:panelgrid> .....i even tried that....but final result is same as I was getting the first time...
I am able to reach the jsp page (with or without <f:subview>) but i am not able to display all the contents....but if i use only one of the included jsps(by removing any one of the panel grids) I am able to view them. Since I am able to view all the contents when i view these pages inside the PARENT PAGE one at a time, that indicates there is no problem in datatable contained in these pages.....
( Also I have not used <f:view> inside my included jsps.)
Please help to solve this problem...

The RgsViewRequirementBB is already in the session scope.
Also I am using the setDisplayCandidateView(true) or setDisplayCandidateView(false ) explicitly as depicted below. The page is still under construction thats why the rendered attribute is explicitly set.

Peculiar problem in dynamic event, which is registering randomly

Hello,
I am using a dynamic event to pass a data (variant) to a vi which i call dynamically. reference of the event is stored in LV2G.
so both main and called vi can access. data when written to the generate user event vi is triggering event at random time when executed.
I am attaching snapshot of the vi which i used to register event.
One interesting thing i noticed is if i put a probe in the error out of the generate user event vi then event will start triggering.
Need help. I am struggling to get a solution.

Post any code you have on the issue. There may be something simple that will fix the problem. It sounds a lot like a race condition.

Peculiar problem with Material price change in previous period

Hi All,
We have changed the material price in previous period using MR21. Ideally it should update MBEWH table only but it had updated MBEW table as well. The posting had been done on 4th Sep for the month of August.
Price carry over check box is not checked in the configuration for this company code.
Please help me out why it is happening for current period.

Not to answer and solve your issue, but what I get information wish to inform you as:
MBWEH shows data only in those periods where there are material movements for this material.
And there is no automatic copy of all the MBEW data to MBEWH while performing MM period opening.
There is no program available to populate data in MBEWH, nor is it required.
You can searh for the last relevant data available in MBEWH if the period you search is not available. Hope this solves your problem.
Also check out the documentation for field MBEW-VMKUM (ie. data element VMKUM) in SE11 - it contains a decent description with examples.
Please let us know the solution other than this you get.

Peculiar Problem: Corrupt Catalog?

1. The Basic Problem: In Lightroom 3.2 and now 3.3, when new images are downloaded, the folders appear in the list of folders (in the left-hand panel) and the same folders appear in the Lightroom_Library folder on my N drive. However, when Lightroom is closed and reopened, these folders no longer appear in the list of folders in the left-hand panel of Lightroom. The folders and their images are still on the N drive and can be accessed with Photoshop.
2. The two sets of imported images that have been a problem were shot in late October and late November. I had not taken any photos prior to that since August. I made three backups of my catalog in August long before I began to have the current problem.
3. I have synchronized my 2010 folder (which contains the problematic folders) in the list of folders in the left-hand panel. This action replaced the two missing folders shot in October and November in the list of folders; however, they both disappeared again when Lightroom was shut down and reopened.
4. I noticed that when I import test images and the folder name appears correctly in the list of folders in the left-hand panel and then turn Lightroom off and then on again, even though the folder disappears from the list of folders, the images themselves still appear on the screen, which means, does it not, that the images are in the catalog even though they are not showing in the folders list.
Following up on this, I imported some test images and gave them a unique keyword. I then shut Lightroom down and reopened it and that folder was missing from the list of folders in the left-hand column, but I was able to bring the images up by searching for the photos using the unique keyword that I had given them, which is, I think, more evidence that the images are in the catalog.
5. I spoke with an Adobe customer support representative, and as a last resort, he created a test catalog into which he imported new images. The images appeared in the list of folders. Lightroom was then shut down and reopened, and the folder was still in the list of folders in the left-hand panel. Based on this experiment, the Adobe representative concluded that my catalog was corrupt, and that I would need to import my current catalog into a new catalog to solve this problem.
6. Except for this one problem, the catalog seems to function normally, and I have checked the integrity of the catalog and this has turned up no problems. I have not received any warnings from Lightroom 3 to indicate that the catalog is corrupted.
6. Since I thought I was dealing with a corrupt catalog, I substituted one of my backups from August, which was made at a time when I was having no problems with the catalog; however, I am having the same problem with this backup catalog. Does this suggest that the problem may not be that the catalog which first showed the problem is corrupt?
7. The support representatives that I spoke with gave me somewhat different recommendations for transferring this catalog to a new catalog. One suggested that I create a new empty catalog and then combine the corrupt catalog with the new one. In this case wouldn’t the new catalog be corrupted too?
If I have to accept that the problematic catalog is corrupt, how exactly do I transfer the contents of the corrupt catalog to a new catalog without losing anything?

Create a brand-new test catalog and try importing the two folders into it. If they still disappear it is something to do with those folders or their contents. If they seem ok, then it could be something wrong with your catalog. When importing make sure you've done right-click Include Parent Folder enough times to make it the same relative depth of folders as your regular catalog.
I assume you've done an optimize catalog with test-integrity enabled.
I have seen problems in the past with folders that had some weird character or were longer than the rest so see if that is the case for these two. When the folders do happen to be visible, you might try renaming them (within LR) to something much shorter and see if they work, then.
Before messing around too much, I'd write XMP files (select all / Metadata / Write Metadata for Files) for all the photos in these two folders, so at some point if things go completely haywire, you can at least reimport the photos with their current set of adjustments applied although linkages to them in collections and keywords and such may not be as lucky.
You can also use File / Import from Catalog... and File / Export to Catalog... to create working copies of just those two folders in another catalog but if the catalog, itself, is corrupted, that may only propagate the corruption.

Hi sir...my firefox is having this peculiar problem ..i have tried all the steps given in the prevoius page..but youtube video is not buffering...

initially it buffers for a second...suddenly message appears 'error occured..'...only youtube is having this problem..other website videos buffers fine..i have tried all the solutions you have given in the these pages...but its not working..please help me out...

Thank you for your question, we are currently investigating the cause of this and a work around. Currently there was a blocking of a number of ips in India that has had a large affect on Firefox/Youtube users.
Suggestions for troubleshooting this issue have been:
*"Clear the Cache":
Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
*"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
*As well as temporarily changing dns to 8.8.8.8
*Flushing the dns cache on the computer
*File may be unavailable, please try again later.
*Disable all video players from [about:addons] and see if it will play from the default HTML5 player.

Peculiar problem with playing media off of an HFS+ partition

I have Arch Linux installed on my Macbook Pro, and I need to play the music and videos off of my HFS+ partition in Linux. I want to use VLC and Banshee, but both seem to be having problems with this.
Here is the issue:
1. I can read/write to the HFS+ partiton as a normal user
2. I can play music and videos with mplayer off of that partition
3. However, VLC will not open/play anything off of that partition
4. Banshee marks the music files that I have imported from that partition with an 'X' when I try to play them and does not play them
5. VLC and Banshee will play anything on my Linux partition (including the same file with the same permissions)
I can't seem to figure out why VLC and Banshee refuse to play anything off of that partition even though I have read/write permissions to it. Mplayer works fine, though.

See this thread on the VLC forums. The VLC devs have stopped supporting HFS+ until a bug in the filesystem is fixed.
