Pedals are playing as notes on Garageband

I connected up my digial piano with my Mac to use with Garageband. The problem is that when the pedal is pressed it plays/records as a note instead of performing its function on Garageband. However, when a key is pressed at the same time, the pedal would work perfectly. Of course I can't quite do that everytime when recording.
The piano works perfectly on its own and connected, so the pedaled notes are only played on the Mac. I've checked that the cables are all connected correctly.
Some informations:
Notes played :- Sustain: G; Sostenuto: F#; Una corda: E (It playes really loudly)
Piano:- Yamaha YDP-131
Cable:- USB Midi Cable Lead Adaptor for Musical Keyboard to PC Laptop XP Vista Mac
Software: Garageband '11 version 6.0.5

I was using a simple, generic USB to midi cable. (An eBay purchase for a few dollars.) This could have something to with it.
I didn't mention, however, that the pedal does perform the sustain function under certain circumstances (when notes are already being held, from memory) but if no keys are being played, depressing the pedal results in that middle E sounding at what I presume to be maximum velocity.
We'll figure this one out! I will try a combination of different pedals, pianos and cables when I get a moment and report back to you.

    Not sure why this is happening and it is a pain. Once the Purchased list sorted by 'date added' go to the left most column and select the top - in my Purchased list the new items go to the bottom and I drag them back up to the top position.

    Some songs I purchased last night are not playing all the way through. Several songs from the 4 albums I purchased play for a period of time then just skip to the next song. The songs that do this, do it everytime they are played at the exact same spot. The songs that are affected skip to the next on iTunes on my PC which is updated to the most current iTunes and my 160gb iPod classic. Everytime they are played at the exact same spot. However on my other device, iPhone 4s all songs play just fine. I have almost 7,000 songs on my iPod and this has never happened before and I have played it awhile since downloading those albums yesterday. This is only happening with the albums purchased yesterday. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong?

    I took four video clips while on a trip this week.  Two are oriented the right way (playing wide on the device and imported correctly).  The other two are Tall and not oriented right.  Orientation is 90 degrees to the right.  I don't know why this is happening on occasions.  Even some pictures I took did the same **** thing.  It's weird.  And I can't figure it out.  The camera is held the way I want the pictures and videos to be recorded and played but something internal is turning these videos and pictures 90 degrees clockwise.

    What do you mean 'only play and not buy' ? If you mean that a song has 'play' against it in the store then that implies that you've already bought it and it's in your iTunes library

    - For the X-ray problem go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn off White on Black
    - For the syncing problem make sure that you have the right boxes checked for the syncing mode you are using. See:

    - Is the iPod signed into the iTunes account that purchased the music?
    - Was the iPod previously synced to another computer?

    For the issue with the videos that will no longer work, try closing all apps and then reboot the iPad.
    Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
    For the issue with sounds, you have system sounds muted.
    Check the side switch above the volume rocker on the side of the iPad. Flip it the other way and see if you get sound from the apps, keyboard clicks, etc.
    If not, double tap the home button to bring up the task bar at the bottom. In the task bar swipe all the way to the right. Look on the far left side and see if there is a speaker icon. If there is, tap it and see if the sounds on apps come back. Then tap the home button.
    You can change how the side switch works to either lock screen rotation or to mute system sounds. You can go to Settings>General>Set Side switch to Lock Rotation or mute. If you choose mute, the switch will turn off apps sounds. Otherwise you use the task bar as described above to mute those sounds.

    It sounds like you are unable to play a couple of songs from your library becuase you get a message that the computer is unauthorized to play, but other content purchased that same day works without issue. I would verify that the affected songs were purchased with the same Apple ID first:

    Open iTunes
    Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
    Choose File > Get Info.
    Click the Summary tab.
    The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
    If so, then delete the songs:

  • Since i started using my new bluetooth, all notifications are playing through the bluetooth not the speaker. Is there a way to change that?

    Since I bought my Motorola bluetooth, all notifications while connected are played through the headset and not the phone's speaker. This wasn't a problem on my old bluetooth set.
    Is there a way to change this where when I'm connected, the notifications play through the speaker?

    Setup as new.
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
