Pegasus drive and mavericks

I've upgraded to mavericks but 24 hours later my Pegasus R Series Thunderbolt drive doesn't appear on my desktop. If I look in System Report it is listed under Thunderbolt devices, but it doesn't show up in the Finder window. Any clues?

Promise has fully tested and assured compatibility of Pegasus products with OS X Mavericks.
Note that other 3rd party Thunderbolt peripherals daisy chained and their respective software can affect the overall behavior.

  • Canon iR-ADV driver and Mavericks update

I am trying to add a Canon iR-ADV C55035 to a mac running mavericks 10.9.3. (I think) The printer/copier is on a network at work in a Windows environment.
I found the software at Canon and downloaded it. It was the PS version and it said it was good through Mavericks 10.9.1. I added the printer as an IP printer as the network is wireless. The mac now 'sees the printer' and can communicate with it. But when I go to print something, the log says the print job had 0 output and 0 copies. I tried a word document, an image. The log says the same thing 0 output, 0 copies. The rest of the computers are able to print fine. I am wondering if the updated Mavericks from a few days ago, might have caused the problem and Canon hasn't updated the driver.  The other option might be that the driver should be the UFRII version (what ever that is) Help?
    Thanks.

Based on what you have written the ADV C5035 does not have the optional Postscript (PS) kit installed. It has nothing to do with any Mavericks update.
So you will have to use the UFR2 driver you mention, which is a Canon proprietary printer language and the default printer kit in the Canon iR devices.
Note that when creating the network print queue you must use the HP Jetdirect-Socket protocol. IPP is not supported by the driver and some users have had issues with the LPD protocol.

Every time I try to back up my Macbook Pro with an external hard drive using Time Machine, I receive the error of "the disk does not have enough space". I have a 500GB external hard drive and only 120GB Macbook. It worked fine before the latest Maverick's update. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be it has created an entirely new backup of your drive when you upgraded to Mavericks.

  • I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro last updated to Mavericks OS.  The screen died and it's not worth replacing.  How do I remove the hard drive and use a drive sled to access info I need?

I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro last updated to the Mavericks OS.  The screen died and I took it into an Apple store and was told replacing the screen and the hardware to repair everything would cost almost as much as buying a new laptop or a cheaper model.  I was told that I can use a drive sled to access data I need on my hard drive. How do I remove my hard drive and use a drive sled to get to the information I need?  What makes matters more complicated is I need to update my iPhone and my iTunes/App store purchases.  How can I accomplish this?
My wife has a late 2008 Macbook Pro as well, which I am assuming I need to run my hard drive.  Is there a way to just access just my hard drive without interfering with hers?
I know this is lengthy.  Thanks to whoever looks at this and offers advice/instruction.

the device you need is an External enclosure for a 2.5" (laptop form factor) SATA drive.
A USB-interface enclosure will be slow, but is adequate for this task and for re-purposing as a backup drive later.  A firewire-interface drive would be faster, but is harder to find, more expensive, and faster than needed for this purpose.
The drive will mount as an "extra" drive on your wife's Macbook, and you can drag and drop whatever you wish. You could create a separate Account for yourself on her computer, and use Migration Assistant or just copy your stuff over to the new account. Then it would not interfere with her files.

  • Hi everyone... i by mistakely installed windows 8.1 in c drive and formatted mac os mavericks... what should i do

hi everyone... i by mistakely installed windows 8.1 in c drive and formatted mac os mavericks.. i want to install mac os x again ...
    What should i do

Try to b boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down). If you can you can select Disk Utility to erase the hard drive and then reinstall Mavericks.

  • When I check my boot SSD drive using Disk Utility under Mavericks, I often get "Incorrect number of extended attributes" errors.  But if I boot off an external drive and check the same SSD, no errors are reported.  Is this a bug in Mavericks?

When I check my boot SSD drive using Disk Utility under Mavericks, I often get "Incorrect number of extended attributes" errors.  But if I boot off an external drive and check the same SSD, no errors are reported.
This happens not just with the SSD in my Mac Mini, but with another SSD in my MacBook (both now running Mavericks).  So far as I know, all of the kit I am using is in good order (despite the file corruption reports).  So I am beginning to wonder if it could be due to a bug in Mavericks?  Both SSD drives have been formatted to MacOS Extended (journaled) format.  Should I have used a different format, I wonder?
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
    Does anyone have a solution?
Or an explanation that might help my investigation of the issue?
    Thanks guys,

I understand that the Corsair Force 3 is not one of the SSD drives that are supported on Apple Macs.
I did try downloading and using Trim Enabler, but the error message came up both when it was off and when it was on.
I understand that not everyone thinks Trim Enabler is a good program, though there is a new version out now, so I may give it another try.

  • How can I wipe hard drive and do a clean install of Mavericks?

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that is terrible sluggish, probably from upgrades and semi-deleted Symantec software. I want to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install of Mavericks. I have all files backed up, and can reinstall software.
I think there is a way to do this with Disc Utility?  But don't know how.  Advice welcome

If you have Yosemite installed and want to reinstall it, do a backup,  preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors.  Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

    OS X Recovery (2)
When you reboot, use Setup Assistant to restore your data.

  • After I tried to install Mavericks on my Macbook Air, June 2012 the the drive began to fail, with the appearance at more and more frequent intervals of the spinning beach ball, I had to restart even  after I wiped the drive and reinstalled Mountain Lion

After I installed Mavericks I could no longer shut my Macbook Air (mid July 2012) down, except by force quit,I was using an Apple Tv screen and Apple wireless keyboard. After that the spinning beachball kept appearing at more and more frequent intervals, even after I had wiped the drive and re-installed Mountain Lion from the Apple site. It is now almost non functional. and just three months out of warranty

Backup your data as soon as you can.
MacBook Air computers sold between June 2012 through June 2013 are known to have a high SSD failure rate and Apple is replacing them for free.
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbookair-flashdrive/
You should maintain current backups.  Given the known failure rate of your SSD that is especially important.

  • Hi. My iMac hard drive is running Mavericks.  I have an old version of Quark Xpress (3.32) which won't run in Mavericks.  Can I partition my hard drive and run an older system on one partition, so I can access my Quark?  Is that possible?

Hi. My iMac hard drive is running Mavericks.  I have an old version of Quark Xpress (3.32) which won't run in Mavericks.  Can I partition my hard drive and run an older system on one partition, so I can access my Quark?  Is that possible?

    Hi ancelau,
QuarkXPress 3 is a Classic Mac OS application, so you need a version of OS X that still supports Classic. I believe 10.4 was the last one.
So if you have an iMac that boots with 10.4, then yes that is possible. I doubt though that newer Macs boot with OS X 10.4.
So why don't you upgrade QuarkXPress 3 to a newer version? I am not just asking that because I want you to spend money with us.
Typically using software that was released almost 20 years ago is just feasible when you keep an environment that was current at the time of release or a few years after, so an older Mac with a operating system present at that time. 20 years in IT is a lot.
So my opinion is that on a new Mac with a brand new operating system you need to use something a bit more current.
How about QuarkXPress 9 (released 3 years ago) or QuarkXPress 10? You are better off with v9, as QuarkXPress 10 only opens v7 and higher (whereas QuarkXPress 9 opens v3.1 and higher).
Or - I am even happy to make an exception - upgrade to 9 and we give you 10 for free? Let me know please.
    Thanks
    Matthias

  • Trying to get Photoshop CS4 functional with Mavericks and an Epson 3880 printer. CS4 fails to send a file to the print queue. Have reinstalled the Epson 3880 driver for Mavericks. All looks good but no file is sent.

rying to get Photoshop CS4 functional with Mavericks and an Epson 3880 printer. CS4 fails to send a file to the print queue. Have reinstalled the Epson 3880 driver for Mavericks. All looks good but no file is sent.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

What EXACT version of Photoshop CS4 are you running?  You should be on Photoshop CS4 v 11.0.2.
Also run Apple's software update to see whether it offers you the latest Epson update:
    Printer Driver v9.33
Epson Stylus Pro 3880, Drivers & Downloads - Technical Support - Epson America, Inc.
MOST IMPORTANTLY:  have Photoshop re-create its own Preferences:
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by manually deleting the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
NEW Video! Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here:

Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If  you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.

    gj,
Unless it has worked since the upgrading, I believe you should uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

  • Is there a way to recover iPhoto library after erasing drive and clean install of Mavericks?

Is there a way to recover the photos in my iphoto library after erasing my SSD drive and reinstalling mavericks? My time capsule backed everything up except iphoto, and I had 3 years worth of important photots in there. Is there any way to recover them?

In addition to using a Time Capsule drive and using Time Machine, with this painful lesson learned, in the near future, purchase another high quality, high speed (USB 3.0, Thundetbolt OR FireWIre 800 depending what connections are on your Mac) external hard drive, formatted for Mac, and use a data cloning app such as CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to make bootable clones/copies of your Mac's entire internal hard drive.
Bootable clones and data cloning apps are the best and most reliable way of creating reliable backups of your important data in the future.
Also, my other advise stands, too! If you have data the is like "gold" to you copy this data manually to other media such as CDs/DVDs and/or high capacity USB flash drives.
Sorry you have lost your precious photos.
Painful lesson, but good info to prevent this all from happening, again.
WIth computers, having many copies and redundancies of data is key to never losing important computer data.
    Again, sorry.

  • My Mavericks upgrade crashed my hard drive and I had to reinstall Mountain Lion.  Now I cannot get any of the apps that I purchased to download.  The icons on the launchpad just say "waiting" no matter what I try.

My Mavericks upgrade crashed my hard drive and I had to reinstall Mountain Lion.  Now I cannot get any of the apps that I purchased to download.  The icons on the launchpad just say "waiting" no matter what I try.  My app store ID is fine.  What do I do?

Are you now using a different username from the one you used prior to migrating? If so that is the reason for the problem. You might, then, give this a try:
    To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder.  At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
    sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN.  You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.

  • Hello, Trying to run Bootcamp on my 15" Macbook Pro (Maverick).60 gig available on my computer's hard drive and 250 gig on a separate hard drive that I have attached which is single partitioned. Keeps saying "The startup disk does not have enough space"

    Hello,
I'm trying to run Bootcamp on my 15" Macbook Pro (Maverick). I have 60 gig available on my computer's hard drive and have 250 gig on a separate hard drive that I have attached, which is single partitioned (MS-DOS FAT). It keeps saying "The startup disk does not have enough space, you must have 28 gig of free space available" Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the advice Bob The Fisherman. I'm just reading what turbostar has kindly written and it appears that perhaps, if I take advice from you both, I need to free more space up on the computer's hard drive?
With the external hard drive; would it be advisable to defragment? Know of any defrag freeware for Mac OSX?
    Many thanks to you both.

  • My iMovie 9 will not install after formatting hard drive and installing Mavericks what are my options?

I have not used my iMovie ever since I formatted my Hard Drive and installed Mavericks. I went to put the disk in from when ilife was originally shipped with the computer and it just spits the disk right back out of the superdrive. Is there anything I can do to not have it just spit a disk out without asking for user input. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to buy the new version.

Here are the original specs of your computer. The specs state that the original hard drive was 320GB. You have since replaced the factory drive with a 1TB (1000GB) hard drive. The HP recovery routine seems to have issues with hard drives that deviate from the original size. The partition issues you are experiencing may be a result of this. As for the rest of your issues, it sounds like the SP3 install went bad.
If I were you, I would consider reinstalling the OS using your recovery discs by doing a complete "destructive" reinstall/recovery. Afterward, I would post the size of both the c: and d: partitions... and go from there.
