Pegatron IPMTB-TK motherboard version 1.04 and BIOS question?

Hi,
I bought a refurbished HP Pavilion Elite m9650f, Win 7 on 04-21-2010
and it too has suffered from the crashes, freezes and multiple BSOD
that many people have been complaining about.  I have the Pegatron
IPMTB-TK TRUCKEE version 1.04 motherboard.
HP calls it TRUCKEE-UL8E.
Am I looking to replace it with version 1.04 E01 or version 1.05E?
(With much reading on the web about my m9650f problems,
I finally have it maybe 90% stable after replacing the hard drive,
upgrading to BIOS ver 5.29 and replacing all the RAM.)
I know there is a class action suit including the m9650f pending.
http://www.hpelitedesktopsettlement.com/
Will I be able to request a repair for my HP computer?
When will HP let people request a repair?
Also, I currently have BIOS ver. 5.29 and notice that there is a ver. 6.10
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-88852-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
BIOS ver 6.10 improves system support for Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition processors which is what ver 5.29 says it does.
BIOS ver 6.10 also installs HP Vision Diagnostic tool which I don't know anything about.
I don't plan on installing an Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition processor.
Should I upgrade to BIOS ver 6.10 or just leave well enough alone?
Thank you for your time.

Hi Dashby,
My motherboard is 1.04E01 and it has been very stable.   I have not heard or seen anyone with 1.05.
You can put PCI cards other than x16 in the PCI-E x16 slot such as x1 or x4 cards.
Typically what happens if another video were to be install in the second PCI-E x16 is the total 16 lanes of bandwidth would be split between the two slots.  You can't run SLI or CrossFire on the truckee motherboard so in my opinion a second video card is a waste.  Just use a BIG video card if needed.
You can use PC Wizard and look under Mainboard PCI Express to gain information about the PCI-E slots and the speed that they are running when a card is installed.
The Asus U3S6 expansion card is an interesting piece of technology. hmmmm   I wonder if the bios would support a SATA 3 boot device?

will the latest version out of the two always be the one used? or is it possible a website could request the older version

  • Motherboard X79A-GD45 (8D) and bios 7760vC5.

In the bios I can activate "Fast Boot" but I am no longer able to set the following sub-options as I could do with bios 7760vC4:
    1. Network Stack Driver Support – Enabled / Disabled
    2. USB Support – Full Initial / Partial Initial / Disabled
    3. PS2 Devices Support – Enabled / Disabled
When I now activate that "Fast Boot" wat setting will be active for the sub-options not shown anymore?

I am not 100% sure, but if Fast Boot / Win 8 options are enabled all of those settings are moot and un-needed / un-available.
    PS2 = legacy
    USB support default to full
Network Stack Driver is bypassed during fast boot
Again these are only assumptions, you might want to contact MSI directly for an exact answer.

  • Temp and bios question

Okay, new to the board and I must say I am impressed. Not a lot of hating goin on.
    First the details:
    MSI 875P NEO-FISR mobo bios v3.5
    Intel P4 2.8 800fsb - Northwood not overclocked- stock HS/Fan
    ATI Radeon X800Pro
    Kingston DDR400- 2x512
Lite-on CD RW / DVD RW
    Samsung 120GB SATA HDD 7200rpm
    Win2K SP4
    Aspire X-Alien case with 6 80mm fans - 420w PSU
Hopefully thats enough info...anyway my problem is the temp on my CPU has suddenly went up by almost 20 degrees C. Im wondering if it is the latest BIOS. I had updated every time from 3.1 up to 3.3 and I decided to not put on 3.4 just out of laziness. I did update to 3.5
Before my temps would run 28-29C idle and after serious gaming it might go up to 45C. the other day I noticed it was idle at 49C and gaming would jump to 63-64C. I have CoreCenter set to shutdown at 65C because I don't trust it. Nothing has really changed other than the BIOS and a newer version of CoreCenter. I blew off HS last night, but no change...it really was not dusty, only had system for few months now...My X800 runs in same area as always, so I dont think it is an ambient temp problem. I also uninstalled CoreCenter and installed an older version, but no change.
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. Could it be the temps were wrong before, and they have been fixed with a subsequent BIOS?
Could be they are wrong now?
I'm thinking of buying a Zalman HS/Fan, but it doesnt make sense that what was running really cool before is now running hot with same HS/Fan...so Im not sure if I NEED to buy a new HS/Fan or wait to see if next BIOS fixes problem.
CoreCenter is only program I have used so far, so I will try SpeedFan when I get home and post the results of that tonite or tomorrow, I wanted to post this to see if there might be some other having same problem, or another possible fix. I was afraid to flash BIOS back to previous version...I was not sure what would happen. Is this possible? Should I try it and are there any "gotchas" in doing that?
thanks for any information you have.

okay, so I disabled CoreCenter and installed Speedfan using Danny's guide. SpeedFan has actually dropped the temps from idle at 49C to 41C and gaming gets up to about 62 C still...one interesting thing is CoreCenter would only allow my fan at max speed to just under 4,000 RPM (if I remember correctly) and SpeedFan on max is over 5400 RPM which I am thinking is responsible for the 8 degree drop in idle temp.
With all the info you guys have provided like the water cooled system running same temp, Im thinking it is the BIOS. Why would a water cooled system run same temp as a stock HSF setup, even if the BIOS update bumped the temps up 20 degrees, I would think the WC system would still be running cooler, like 38-39C compared to our 45-46C.
Anyway, Im thinking Im going to hold off on purchasing an aftermarket HSF and see what the next BIOS brings. I feel comfortable that the bios is throwing the temp READINGS off and the actual temp is not hotter than it has ever been.....I guess....heh. I do like how SpeedFan is controlling the temp better than CoreCenter...if you guys have not tried it, you might want to. It did lower my temp readings 8-9C. Here is the link to the thread on setting it up.

  • Upgrade to SSD and BIOS question

I have an x200 model 7454CTO with attached Ultrabay (with optical drive, CD read/wrire, DVD read only).  Original HD is 256gb, running XP pro SP 3.  It has original BIOS version date 6DET33WW(1.10) 10/27/2008 and SMBIOS version 2.4.  I am not having any issues with this laptop.  I want to change to an SSD because other users of SSDs report much better speed.
    My questions are;
    1. Are there any issues with replacing my HD with the Crucial CT1993743 256GB  m4 2.5" SSD?
    2. There appears to be later versions of the BIOS.    Have read somewhere that if the there are no problems best to leave BIOS alone.  I don't know if the new SSD requires a BIOS update. Should I update the BIOS?
    3. Is there anything to do about the SMBIOS?
    Thank you

Thank you very much for your reply.  I will leave the BIOS alone.  My SSD is on it's way.  I found it a bit interesting that the Crucial m4 SSD had good user reviews whereas the v4 had bad ones.  Crucial originally recommended the v4 but I selected the m4 based on the reviews rather than any in-depth search.  Both show up as compatible on the Crucial site.  Hope the reviews are accurate.
Re SMBIOS.  This was an item in the System Information just below the BIOS.  I asked about this just in case it had any relevance.
Re Win 7.  I have a relatively new smart phone running, I guess, the mobile version of Win 7.  I think that this will give a bit of the touch-and-feel of Win 8 so that I may have a better understanding of how Win 8 will work for me.  I am so used to XP that I am somewhat (actually very) reluctant to change.  My senior age doesn't help.
    Thanks again.

  • K8N Neo2 Plat power and bios question

    I have a K8N Neo2 Plat. I use a UltraProducts 500W xconnect PSU and a BFG 6800 GT OC.
A couple weeks ago the 6800 died. I contacted BFG and they sent me a new one.
The new one died the same way after a week. They said to check the power levels on the +12 rail.
In windows using softare tests it reports 13.58
in the bios it reports 12.22
both are over the allowed variance.
Ultra products told me to check with my motherboard manufacturer to see if there was a BIOS setting that would let me set the power on the +12V rail. Is that possible?
Is that something my K8N Neo2 Plat can do?

No, you cannot lower the 12V-rail by a bios setting. I really don't see what they mean by that.
Your motherboard does, however, regulate the power that comes from the power supply. Within certain margins it can lower the voltage and keep it steady. Your videocard can do the same. Now, depending on the tolerance (quality) of your hardware, you can vary on those margins. But on any piece of hardware, there is a point on which it cannot correct/lower a voltage that is too high. It then simply shuts down or dies.
To my opinion, the PSU-maker gave you a very funny piece of advice. What he actually says is that their psu may give too high a voltage (I talk about the 13+ now), but your hardware should correct this. That's not the way it works: they should make psu's that give 12V where it should. So, I'd demand a replacement. But, before you do: use a multimeter to measure the 12V-rail. You cannot trust the board's measurement too well.
But then, like Stick  says, I think that 12.22 is within mentioned margins. 13.58V is too high. So, that's why you should first measure using a multimeter. Measure for a longer time. System idle, system full load. Write everything down and see how steady this psu is. If 12V dances arround, replace it.

  • MS-6120 and BIOS problems

Hi, I have a 6120 Dual Slot1 motherboard version 1.1 and I'm having some problem with BIOS v2.0. I'm using on it 2 Pentium3 500MHz Katmai processors and from when I upgraded BIOS to the version I'm using now my system recognize only one CPU even if there's 2 CPUs, one CPU and the terminator provided with the motherboard in the free slot and one CPU alone without anything else in the other slot. It happens even if I put one CPU in the first or in the second slot, and with a previous BIOS (I don't remember the version I had before) it never happened. How can I solve this problem?

Quote from: Wonkanoby on 21-September-05, 07:07:41
    are they identical
is that xp pro as home will never see 2x cpu
XP Home works with only one cpu, XP Pro works with 1 or 2 cpus.
In the last days i tryed to flash it with bios 1.9, 1.8 and 1.6 but the motherboard and the os (i tryed Windows 2000 Server too) see only one cpu.

  • Any difference between motherboard version and PCB version?

    I have MS-6340.
In the first page of the manual is written (Version 2.0) and in the scond page written (Manual revision:2.0)
While between the PCI slots of the motherboard is written VER:1 (guess this stands for PCB version)
    - Is it possible to have PCB version different than the motherboard allover version?
    - And in my case, shall I say that my mobo is version 2.0 with PCB ver. 1? or should consider it as ver. 1?

    your motherboards a version v 1
dont worry about what revision the manual is

  • K9N2 Diamond motherboard versions

I have a question about the different versions of the K9N2 Diamond motherboard. There are two different versions that I am aware of, version 1.0 and version 1.1. Now this might of been asked in the forums already but, I could not find it. I personally own version 1.0 and have had no problems with the board what so ever. I was just wondering if anybody knew what the differences were (except the obvious, like enhancements, relayout of components, and updated features). Will version 1.1 have better power distribution so it will be able to support more processors in the future than version 1.0 ? If anybody knows please let me know thanks.

    Where is 1.1?

I've updated to the most recent version of iTunes and I can no longer see any of my old music on my mac.  All the music is still available on my ipad.  How can i download the music on my mac?

First, are you positive it is really not there?  Have you looked in your iTunes folder in your Music folder, and in the media folders there? Do you see your media files?
If your media are gone it is a lot easier to restore from a proper computer backup.  Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

I have downloaded the latest pages update on my iPad, but my iMac still has Pages version 4.3, and I cannot find out how to update it on my desktop. When I try to send something from my iPad pages via email to be opened on my desktop in Pages, it won't open in Pages. I get a message that it can't be opened because the version is too old. I sent the document as a PDF and it worked. But I want to be able to use Pages back and forth. HOw do I update the Pages version on my desktop iMac?

The file format used by the iOS versions of the iWork apps can only be read by the new iWork apps on your Mac - i.e. Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Those versions for the Mac require Mavericks, OS X 10.9. The "too old" error on a Mac comes if you are trying to open an iWork '08 or earlier file in the newest apps. If you do have the newest apps you can open the files from your iPad.
If you can't or don't want to upgrade to Mavericks & the newest iWork apps your best option would be to export/share the files from the iPad to a type an older version of iWork can read such as Word, text, Excel, etc.
Or contact AppleCare. They made this mess, let them fix it.

  • Tried downloading itunes version 11.4 and received an error code 2324. Now itunes will not work at all and I cannot sync my phone, ipad or ipod. How should I proceed?

I have tried several times to load version 11.4 and keep getting an error code2324, now I cannot sync any of my apple products. I set my machine to a previous recover date,  now iTunes will not work at all. I get a message stating I do not have the administrator rights to download. Any thoughts on this issue?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Of course it always works, what are you talking about.
I appreciate that re-downloading is only available in the US and then only with certain content. However content that cannot be re-downloaded is not offered for purchase on the Apple TV.

  • The other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and now none of the icons for the different websites I normally go to are there?

As I said, the other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and after doing so none of the icons for the different websites that normally go to are no longer there. Websites such as MSNBC, MSN, Most visited, that entire strip is no longer visible. I tired resetting Firefox and still nothing. Can anyone tell me how to get them to appear again? It's a hassle every time that I want to go to one of those sites I have to type it in the search bar, instead of just clicking on it as I did before. Please keep in mind if you answer, that I'm still learning about these things called computers and not very well versed in some of the things that you experts know:) Thanks

On Windows XP Firefox shows the menu bar by default and not the orange Firefox menu button that is shown when the menu bar is hidden.<br />
The menu bar is the toolbar at the top that shows menu items like File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help.<br />
You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily in case this bar is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).
The Navigation Toolbar shows the Back and forward button and the input field where you type the address of a site that you want to visit (aka location bar) and also has a search bar where you can type items that you want to look up with a search engine (Google).

I just downloaded the new version of Firefox and now every site I used to use such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube show "This Connection Is Untrusted". Even when I do accept the risks the site no longer looks the way it's looked for years. Twitter doesn't even give me the option to accept the risks at all and shows this error (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer). ok, unfortunately the fiddler2.com issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.
