  • SAP Database Migration from Oracle to DB2

    Hi All,
    Our client has decided to move the SAP database from Oracle 10.0.2 to IBM DB2. We will like to know list of activities which are required to be done from application side to support this.
    Also we want to know on how to find the report / interfaces where the code is written in native SQL (PL SQL) and not in open SQL (ABAP).
    Any pointers in this regard will be useful. Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Vithal

  • Migration data from SAP DB2 to Oracle 10g

    Hi , I am assigned to migrate data from SAP system which is using DB2 to Oracle 10g.I not very familiar with SAP. I hope someone can help me., especially for those familiar in SAP.
    Please help me.

    Hello,
    just migrating a DB2 database to Oracle 10g might be an easy task. The Oracle Migration Workbench is the tool for such a migration:

    I have no idea about SAP, and that might complicate the picture. But there exist specialists for this task:

    Hi Jin-Chong
    many thanks for you help. But the problem still persists.
    1. We don't have $ODBCINI. There are no conection issues at all. Connection is performed by IBM Data Server Client (db2client) db2 connect to ...
    2. For which stored procedures do we need to apply these Grants?  We manually exported the available historical data from the TrendingDB to CSV files, connected to the database server with db2 connect... (on the app server), imported these CSV with the same user, it all went smoothly. We granted some DML's to the database user. also granted DBADM and SECADM to the database user as well, just to be sure there are no permission issues.
    The Error message seems to indicate There is a problem finding the correct driver for monitoring database, since it says,
          networkLayer    "ODBC"
            DBMS    "DB2"
    com.sap.connectivity.cs.core.CSError: Specified RDBMS is invalid : DB2.
    - Maby IBM Data Server Client (db2client) is not supported for monitoring database at all?
    - Do we have to install additional DB2 clients like DB2 CLI driver or ODBC client instead?
    Thanks in advance

  • SAP EHP5 MSCS installation with IBM DB2 9.7 on windows 2008 R2

    Dear Sir
    i am installing SAP EHP5 high availability with IBM DB2 9.7 on windows 2008 R2
    first cluster node installation is completed,
    now i am going to install database instance, before that i am configuring the database for MSCS as per installation guide,
    but the database group is note creating in Failover cluster manager.
    if you have any solution please reply
    regards
    gourishankar baikerikar

    HI,
    Thats a printing mistake in installation guide..
    copy db2mscs.ese file to db2mscs.cfg ...
    Remove all the unwanted stuff like explination of parameter paragraphs
    Confgure required parameters like  below and make sure there are no unwanted spaces in the txt file.
    #Global section
    DB2_INSTANCE = DB2SID
    DB2_LOGON_USERNAME = XXXXXX\db2sid
    DB2_LOGON_PASSWORD = password
    CLUSTER_NAME = GXXXXX
    MSCS Group for Node 0
    GROUP_NAME = DB2 SID Group
    DB2_NODE = 0
    #IP_NAME = DB2 IP SID
    #IP_ADDRESS=192.168.0.xx
    #IP_SUBNET=255.255.255.0
    #IP_NETWORK=Ethernet(3)
    NETNAME_NAME =  DB2 NetName SID
    NETNAME_VALUE = DB2SID
    #NETNAME_DEPENDENCY = DB2 IP SID
    Open you cluster console and select NODE A there you should be able to identify the disks for DB clustering,
    Copy that name and paste it here for  DISK_NAME
    DISK_NAME = DATABASE_CD2
    DISK_NAME = DBLOGS_CD4
    #INSTPROF_DISK = Disk M:
    #TARGET_DRVMAP_DISK = Disk M:
    With the above process you should be able to cluster your DB.
    2) Please provide all the steps that you were identified to install , that would give more clarity to reply back where ever required.
    Thanks,
    Rahul

  • DB2 Migration from Windows - Linux supported with Backup/Restore ?

    Hi folks,
    we have to do a DB2 V9.1 migration from Windows -> Linux. Both servers are Intel based. Is it official supported by SAP to do this without SAP migration tools? E.g. with a backup/restore or redirected restore? I heard about it, but i'm not sure.
    Thanks a lot
    Jochen
    Edited by: Jochen Raab on Mar 1, 2010 5:40 PM

    Hi Jochen,
    Please have a look at the DB2 docu.
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r7/topic/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.ha.doc/doc/c0005960.html
    It clearly stats that Linux and Windows are not compatible.
    DB2® database systems support some backup and restore operations between different operating systems and hardware platforms.
    The supported platforms for DB2 backup and restore operations can be grouped into one of three families:
    Big-endian Linux® and UNIX®
    Little-endian Linux and UNIX
    Windows®
    A database backup from one platform family can only be restored on any system within the same platform family. For Windows operating systems, you can restore a database created on DB2 Universal Database (UDB) V8 on a DB2 Version 9 database system. For Linux and UNIX operating systems, as long as the endianness (big endian or little endian) of the backup and restore platforms is the same, you can restore backups that were produced on DB2 UDB V8 on DB2 Version 9.
    So you need to do an eport/import.
    Regards,
      Joachim

  • Re Migrating from Oracle to DB2

    Hi All,
    We are migrating from Oracle to DB2, so just wanted to know what will be the impact when we do this, i mean what all necessary steps should be taken to do so. I am a technical consultant involved in this project so not much idea regarding this.
    Also please let me know will it effect the custom i mean the Z programs that we have created. Please let me know regarding this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Salish.

    > We are migrating from Oracle to DB2, so just wanted to know what will be the impact when we do this, i mean what all necessary steps should be taken to do so. I am a technical consultant involved in this project so not much idea regarding this.
    A heterogeneous migration (changing database and/or operating system) implies a certified migration consultant doing the migration, otherwise you'll loose support from SAP for problems during the migration and for the target system (http://service.sapcom/osdbmigration --> FAQ).
    > Also please let me know will it effect the custom i mean the Z programs that we have created. Please let me know regarding this.
    Depending on how you access the data you may need to increase/delete indexes or change the programs to get a better speed.

  • Migration from Oracle to DB2 UDB on Unix

    Hi SAP Expert
    We have different SAP landscape  in our company on Oracle DB
    Due to High Oracle Licensing cost we are planning to migrate our Database to DB2 to reduce license cost
    I would like to know how Reliable DB2 is for SAP? What is % of SAP installation on DB2 worldwide
    Also will there be challenge migrating DB from Oracle to DB2
    I would appreciate if you can provide guidance on the question
    Thanks in advace
    Thanks
    Deelip

    > I would like to know how Reliable DB2 is for SAP? What is % of SAP installation on DB2 worldwide
    DB2 was and is used on quite a number of internal SAP systems that create support packages (if you check the import logs of the support packages and search for "source system).
    SAP doesn't give any exact numbers of installations compared to other databases, they did that in the past.
    > Also will there be challenge migrating DB from Oracle to DB2
    As with every database migration you'll have to check your custom programs and secondary indexes, backup strategies and methods and such.
    > I would appreciate if you can provide guidance on the question
    Be aware of the fact that you must have a certified migration consultant doing the migration on-site, otherwise SAP will deny OSS support and bill (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration).

  • SAP Data Migration Framework

    Dear All, I read from TechEd that SAP data migration framework involves using Business Objects data services. SAP has provided pre-built Jobs with iDOC as target.
    All is fine but I came to know that we can use Data services as staging area and modify etc our data in Data services beforw loading into SAP ECC system.
    I would like to kow more about using Data services as staging area. Does that mean that when we run jobs then data is stored in iDOC(XML file) on DS or it means we can run DS in demo mode where we don't load data but keep it within memory of DS. This is different from profiling and storing execution/DQ statistics. This is storing real time data in DS and then modify/analyze and then load in SAP ECC.
    Can someone explain if we can run DS in demo mode without loading data?
    Thanks,

    Hi Gurus,

    1) Is there any way to migrate a database from DB2 to SqlServer. (My assumption is we can not migrate database, if wrong correct me gurus).

    Please help me knowing the process to migrate the data from DB2 server to MSSQL server. Even am reading the documents available in the web.
    Thanks in advance.. :)

    Microsoft provide a migration assistant for DB2 to SQL Server:
