Pen drive + mov = ??

exported a movie from final cut express up at school and put It on my flash drive. I got home and tried to copy it to my mac and it said insuficient privelages. Then ejects the drive.
I try using vlc, fce, and fcp but to up avail.
I bet that if I try to delete the file at home it will not delete. Note the "I cannot delete my trash" posts.

The computer at school has a different user than the one you have at home. You have to change the privileges on the flash drive.
When you insert the drive, right click it and select "get info"
See what privs are listed on the bottom of the window.
Now do the same thing for your main HD.
Compare them and you will see the differences.

  • I know this is a common question - but is there a way to connect a USB pen drive to the iPad? (See details)

Basically, I just bought a Nexus 7 after growing impatient waiting for the iPad mini.  But the Nexus has a fault, and I'm taking it back next week.  I'm wondering whether to get my money back, or just get another - because it's a pretty good device!
My major big thing about it, is that I can plug a USB pen drive into it with a OTG cable and either just stream pictures, documents or movies - or save them to the Nexus for viewing without a dangly wire to annoy me.  It's great!  However, being an Apple fan - an iPad mini (if it comes out!) would be simpler, because it would sync to iCloud etc.  whereas obviously my Nexus 7 doesn't do this at all.  The only iCloud factor I can access is my mail.  Which isn't a problem, just a prefference.
So, with current iPads - is there a way, without jailbraking the device, to say stream movies to the device through a USB pen drive/external HDD, and save them to the iPad?
I've seen ways on YouTube but thought it was best to ask here.
If this was possible, I'd swap the Nexus for the iPad mini straight away - the Nexus 7 is fantastic!  No problem with it, if it wasn't for iCloud, I'd keep that.
Oh, and as a closing question on the iPad mini/Apple Maps - the Nexus 7 lets you download offline maps, and also you have a GPS which is used even when not on wifi - do you think this will be likely on an iPad mini? I can't see it myself.
It's a sad day for me, when I start to think Google may still have the upperhand on 7" tablets, even after the iPad mini is released.  I might even wait for the Second generation (if it exists!) - just because I for some reason never like first generation things from Apple.
But anyway, that's a lot of questions and info!
    Thanks in advance!

Ok, fair enough.  But since Job's death - Apple's control on leaks has been terrible.  I got the new iPhone, and I like it - but it hasn't made nearly as big as an impression as previous ones.  Because of the vast ammount of leaks.  With the iPad mini leaks, it's 99% sure to come out next week.
Apple uses many manufacturers and it's massive also websites prefer to report on Apple whether true or false because it brings more hits.
Amd by "others" I meant other people on iPads - not other devices/manufacturers.  It's possible to do so, I just want to know how.  I honestly don't think we'll ever be in a Post-PC era until all tablets allow us to use USB in the way computers do.
No, USB is not the future, you missed the memo about cloud and wireless computing?

  • How to add music from pen drive

  • Pen drive usb transcend crazy over arch linux

The model in question is a pen drive 4Gb Transcend JetFlash V33 that when I enter the port usb notebook with arch Linux not mount automatically (which have done all pen drive I used up to now, friends, colleagues, etc. ...). With gparted (from arch linux) tells me that the pen drive has a space-512mb (unless, that is negative) and space is not allocated (not formatted). Impossible mount from terminal, I type a message from the beginning that the size of the device can not be found after its end (and we believe with a capacity of -512). I gave the pen drive to a friend with windows Xp, where it is regularly recognized (4 gb, FAT 32). Even with the live CD systemrescueCD is regularly recognized and I move into pen a text file above (to test) after mounted it using the terminal. The text file was also seen in windows Xp. I didn't experiment with other Linux distributions. Someone knows that cabbage can be. Sorry for my bad english. Thank you.

It is definitely able to recognize the USB and DVDs as separate drives; it gives the option of booting from USB, and it gives the memory capacity of the USB drive I used as a live USB, and the memory used for the live CD.  But when it comes time to actually boot, something is going wrong.
I would suspect it is a problem with the BIOS, if not for the fact that I had a similar issue on my previous system, which used a completely different motherboard.  If it is the same issue, it would either have to be a problem with the DVD drive (although I don't know why it would be against loading some live CDs but not others) or perhaps the way I created the live CDs.  Although, again, I don't understand why the Linux Mint 32-bit DVD would work fine, while both 64-bit DVDs would not.
I will try using a different DVD drive to boot the DVDs, and if that does not work, I'll try creating a new Arch live CD to see if I can resolve the issue.  But if anyone has any ideas, it would still be greatly appreciated.

  • Is it possible to connect a USB pen drive to ipad 3 via and adapter?

Is it possible, via an adapter, to connect and access documents on a USB pen drive on an iPad3?

Technically, you  can use the camera connection kit to attach certain USB drives to the iPad. That said, the ONLY thing your iPad will see are photos or movies that are named with 8 characters and located in a DCIM folder.
So technically you can attach a USB, however it does not work for documents, only photos or videos.
There are some wireless drives out there, the Seagate GoFlex and the iDrive and some others, but definitely with the Seagate it's often just that you can read from or pull from the drive, you can't put your document back onto the drive to get it off the iPad.

  • Pen drive stuck

i have a 256MB pen drive that was working and i dropped a 46MB DVPAL Quicktime movie on to it and now it will not mount on the desktop.
Is there anyway to erase it so it will mount again?
I tried Disk Utility and it will not register there either

    Hi Toby;
It is also possible that the pen drive is bad. The memory in these devices has a limited life expectancy. If the power trick doesn't work for you, I would try it on another computer or two. If it doesn't work there it may be dead.

  • Mount failed for usb3.0 pen drive on MBP Retina

I have 32GB pen drive, trying to connect it to MBP Retina.
OS version is the newest one.
Pendrive works great with Windows 7 and WD HD Live.
Tried to format pendrive with all available file systems (from Fat32, exFat, MacOS Extended) - and format works OK.
DiskUtility see the pendrive without any issues, but can not mount.
    Following error appears:
    - the disk could not be mounted. Try running First Aid on the disk and the retry mounting.
Verify Disk and Repair Disk completes without issues, but pendrive is still can not be mount.

I was having this problem with the exact same USB drive (Lexar USB 3.0 32GB) and an early 2011 Macbook pro. I tried EVERYTHING to make it work: most of the things you did including resetting the PRAM and the SMC and tried every kind of formatting (Mac Journaled, exFat, Fat32....), I tried every port on my laptop, I cleaned the contacts.... nothing worked. It was working on a friend's newer Macbook, and on my roommate's brand new windows desktop. However, on my computer It wasn't showing up in Finder or in Disk Utility no matter what I did.
I then read this comment on another forum: "Likely the problem is the USB 3.0 plug going into a USB 2.0 socket. Move it back and forth a bit and it should connect. For me this works every time."
And it works. I just have to move the USB drive slightly away from my screen and presto. I am not sure how great this is for the USB port itself but I have decided to sacrifice one USB port to using my thumb drive because I need it every day.
I too spent hours trying to resolve this and this was the solution, and it's been working for months.

  • GPO: CD and DVD: Deny write access prevents user from using their USB Pen drive, but other users or ok

My Users have secure pen drives that launch a CDROM partition with a secure logon app that decrypts the main USB mass storage element of the pen drive on successful logon. The problem I have is that users who install the usb pen drive cannot then
initialize the CDROM launcher app to input their password to access the mass storage element of the pen drive making it useless.
However, any other user that has the same type of pen drive who then plugs it in to the endpoint that already has the drivers installed is able to access their own pen drive or the other users pen drive (providing the know the password).
So I've isolated the problem being down to the presence of the GPO setting stated above on the Removable Storage Access Policy, and by not having this policy in place when a user installs the pen drive they have no issues, but I can't find a way to clean
up a user who is already broken even if I remove the GPO from that user, delete their local profile so that they logon as a new user (no roaming or other data) and use a variety of utilities such as USBOblivion to clear out the registry and file system of
the USB device and installation. When the original user logs back on and then installs the usb pen drive again they have the same issue, but no other users do. I have the same issue if I try this with an alternative user or admin as the first user after the
'clean up'. Everyone else can use the pen drive except the user that originally installed it when the GPO was in place.
If I move the user to a new endpoint or rebuild their endpoint then they have no problem being the installer of the usb pen drive and then using it since the GPO was removed, so what I need to know is what is it about the USB install and the GPO that
is tattooing in Windows somewhere and how do I remove it?

    Hi,
In my opinion, this is probably not Windows GPO problem. To confirm the suppose, you can follow the path below to check GPO settings if there is any change after the software installed.
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable Storage Access
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable Storage Access
These two policy manage system and current user Removable Storage access.
If there is no change with these policy, it would be better to contact the manufacture of the driver for further assistance.

  • Using pen drive for I Pad.

I am using IPad Air IOS8 . The device is not having sufficient storage . I am planing to purchase
Strontium Nitro iDrive 3.0 OTG Pendrive for iOS 64 GB Utility Pendrive. Please advice whether I can use this for my I pad for keeping movie ,Vedio, file , audio book etc. I am having Sony laptop loaded with window 7 , is the file can be transferred through the above pen drive.
    (White)

Unless that pen drive has its own wifi hotspot you cannot use it.
There is no support for a plug in USB drive on the iPad (beyond those that get some to work and trick the iPad into thinking they're digital cameras so they can pull photos or videos off the drive)
If you want extra memory, look into wireless flash drives or hard drives. The kingston WiDrive is one, Seagate had one called the goflex. In both cases the drive makes its own little wifi hotspot that you connect your iPad to and then use an app to look at the data.

  • H61M-P23 (B3) BIOS update is not yet completed, please insert the USB pen drive.

    Hey,
I attempted to update my BIOS, but the power went out in the middle of it. I cleared CMOS, and when I tried to use the EIVB.bin file to boot up a bios, It only says A2 in the corner. Without a flash drive in it says BIOS update is not yet completed, please insert the USB pen drive and reset the system. Any ideas on what to do?

Move USB key to another USB port and retest, use backside one.
If no change have a try with another different USB key,
and copy the EIVB.bin file to the newest USB key and retry.

  • Pen-drive recovery from bitlocker

Hello , i secured my pen-drive with bit-locker and i forgot my password and lost my recovery key . I have a lot of important files in there , please help me recover it.

    Hi,
Like Aaron said, sorry, but unless you remember your password, your data is unfortunately lost.
The entire point of encrypting your data is that no one but the holder of the password has access. If there where an easy way to bypass the encryption, there would not be much point to it.

  • Can I transfer data from a PC to a Mac mini from a USB pen drive?

I currently use a PC using windows vista, I would like to purchase a Mac mini and need to know if it is possible to transfer data from the intuit quickbooks program to the Mac mini? I have the data backed up on a USB pen drive. I wasn't sure if the saved data would be compatible with the Mac mini from the windows pc.

I have windows 8.1 in my laptop.i had some files in the drive c:\users\my profile\downloads folder and also in e:\downloads folder.I connected pen drive to my laptop.scanned with anti virus no virus found. My anti virus signatures are updated till date.i

    Hi,
Does the folder c:\users\my profile\downloads folder belongs to your new local accout or the original live account?
If it is the original live account, then I would suggest you access\look for the files with your original live acocunt, after you login with that account, copy the files to C:\Users\Public folder, folders\files under the public folder will be accessable
to other user accounts in system.
