Pending in logon conection to Netweaver by SAPGUI

Hi All
We have an internal system of NetWeaver 7.41. Since its initial installation, it had been working well. However, this week, when I tried to logon to the system by SAPGUI, it is always pending on state of waiting for connection, and I saw the state of disp_work.exe as 'Yellow'.
I attached the log dev_disp.

I read and do what is said in 1806886 - Resetting passwords.
However, when in the 7th step:
Set the name and password of the DBM user (the DBM user name is usually CONTROL). To do this, log on to the database as the user SERVICE (the service database always has a user SERVICE with the password SERVICE) and use the DBM command param_directput. After this, switch the database to the operational status ONLINE.
Example:
>dbmcli -d T01 -u SERVICE,SERVICE
param_directput CONTROLUSERID CONTROL
param_directput CONTROLPASSWORD CONTROL
db_online
quit
I found the following issue:
C:\sapdb\MDB\data\config>dbmcli -d MDB -u SERVICE,SERVICE
dbmcli on MDB>param_directput CONTROL USERID CONTROL
ERR
-24979,ERR_XPNOTFOUND: parameter not found
I am doubting that if it is caused by no such userID.

Look at service.sap.com
This authentication only works for S-users (as well as SAP employees) who are active accounts in SAP's AD. That works via the internet for SAP customers and employers (e.g. from each other's networks but their own devices) as well.
With a SAML IdP you have a lot more flexibility in choosing the source of the first authentication and managing complex access rights through to the backend.
But you are correct: if there are not too many users to manage and they are smart enough to periodically generate a client certificate and they are physically attached to their own personal devices, then a Certificate Authority or even Open SSL solution is another option.
I guess it would be usefull to know how many users there are and how the authentication through from the NW portal to the ABAP backend system is going to replaced. Also how much user context information is needed on the backend system still, if at all anymore.
I think we need more information here still before we can safely conclude that a client certificate is appropriate for an internet scenario.
I am more worried about all those issues like stolen certificate and so on.
From my SDN experiences it is more often a case of people loosing their certificates and user IDs than one of other people stealing them.. The vaste majority of the 2 million users are using passwords and those who are active seem to be happy with the password reset service --> also an option.

SAP Setup is complaining about the "SAP Automatic Workstation Update" component because
of the BaseVersion difference between the component $SAPWUS being collected in file SapWusShared.xml and the version of the baseversion of the patch version you used to create your frontend package mismatch. (BaseVersion=2114 > Version=901) This does only work if the original version is not too old.
Please try downloading the NW 7.0 Presentation 7.30 Compilation 3 and migrate your existing server according to note 1266552 (Migrating an Installationserver to a new Compilation)
Compilation DVD 3 is available at [service.sap.com/installations]

-> SAP Frontend Components
-> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS
Then recreate your package.

The data exchanged between the browser and the portal depends on the logon type. For instance:
- SPNego / Kerberos: as the user is already authenticated in the computer domain, the browser only sends a token to the portal. That token is used to verify the identity of the user
- UIDPW: as the user enters his credentials, the user Id and password are sent
- Logon ticket: when the user is already logged on to a portal and a trust is established, only the logon ticket gets exchanged.
To get a more detailed insight look at your logon case and check the SAP Help documentation for a start. That should help you getting started. To find out what exactly happens during the logon, use a tool like firebug to check the traffic and the web diagtool to get more details.

Changes in the logon page and exceptions

Hi to all !!
I need to make some changes in the logon page of the webdynpro-portal server. Where can I find some help about it...
One of the requirements is to recognize the different reasons why some user can fail in the attemp to log on, i.e. he/she could not be registered in the system or the server can be unable to attend the request at the moment (because of a low number of permitted conections) or something else. The problem is that it alwasy says that the user is not registered
Another thing I want to change is the page that is displayed when the session time expires, what should I change?
Finally, I want to customize the error page that is displayed when and exception ocurrs and the application's navigation is canceled or aborted.

Integrating 3rd party SSO with SAPGUI and distinguish between different SID

Hello,
we are trying to integrate a SSO application on Win XP with SAPGUI 6.20 (SAP 4.70).
The SSO app fills, in case of SAPGUI, the fields 'client', 'username', 'password' and 'language'.
Which credentials to choose is normaly based on information the SSO app gets out of the applications context it should log in to.
As an example with IE it's the window title and the URL.
But with the SAPGUI we only get "SAP" as an identifier, despite which SID/server(?) is selected. And therefore we are not able to fill in the corresponding credentials.
Where can the SID (and perhaps 'client') be retrieved by an external program when the logon screen is displayed by SAPGUI?
Please apologize if this is the wrong forum or I'm using wrong terms, but normaly I'm living outside the SAP world.

Does anyone know where to find good documentation to argue one side vs. the other?

Not speaking English as mother langauge, forced my to consult my dictionary! "Disingenious" is a strong word.
No, I have no "illusion" about the confusion that is spread by marketing. Most days I just laugh about it, sometimes cry, but it does not help. And the frustration for customers is more than clear to me.
And this is why I asked specifically about BSP (out since 610) versus Web Dynpro Java (since 6.40 == NetWeaver '04). I have to assume that is what the original poster indended to ask with the question "Netweaver Development" when posting here.
To come back to marketing aspects: Netweaver is effectively the platform on which to develop, and as main components have the Java stack (J2EE, etc) and the ABAP stack (VM, databases, transport system, etc). Also included are Enterprise Portal (EP), MDM and as far as I know at least (parts of?) XI. In terms of UI technology, Netweaver is SAPGUI, ITS, BSP, portal HTMLB, Web Dynpro (Java), etc. In this confusion, of course it not 100% clear what was asked.
As for Web Dynpro ABAP, we know that prototypes have been shown at TechEd. We know that some of us have a day job developing nice new things in ABAP. However, we can not really talk about it. This forum is not the place to discuss new technology that SAP is developing (or not:). When the next rampup starts, we will see what is in the box.

This should be possible.
You need add handler class to the service in SICF. Create a new class with CL_ICF_BASIC_LOGIN as the super class.

SAPMMC - MMC could not create the snap-in

Hi,
I have NetWeaver Developer Studio 2004s installed with Windows Server 2003.
The server was working correctly. But I tried to install SAPGUI from the SapNetWeaverABAP7TrialVersion package. The installation finished with errors.
I could´t even open sap logon. So I uninstalled SAPGUI. But it disconfigured my server and SAPMMC wasn´t working.
When I open SAPMMC, it return the message "mmc could no create the snap-in", and no Item appears in the left pane.
Is there any way to restore SAPMMC configurations? Or I Need to reinstal Sap NetWeaver Java 2004s?

Unable to upgrade the SAP Basis 701

I am planning to Upgrade Solman 7.0 to Solman 7.0 Ehp1, for that i need to upgrade my basis support pack from 700 to 701.
I have downloaded the SAP_BASIS 701 SAPK-701DHINSAPBASIS support pack from service market place. When i try to update this using saint i am getting a error saying "OCS package SAPK-701DHINSAPBASIS does not match the current software component vector" and showing the "

Hi, you can use this roadmap I've made for upgrading to EHP1 from SP17 or lower. Please remark that its a prerquisite that Your java stack is on SP17 (solman SP17 = NW Java sps16). Also, You should include SP04/SP20 for Solman while upgrading via SAINT (ABAp Wise) and JSPM (JAVA wise).

Lock all users exept from system users and exclusive users
- In TC=su10 click on "Authorization data"

- Click on "Execute" (F8)

Unable to wirte data in BPC NW

I get the following error when trying to wirte data to my RATE application, in an input schedule or running a copy data package (from one category to another)
Could not perform write (NOT_TRANSACTIONAL)

Hi Jesper -
Please logon into the Netweaver backend system and run tcode RSA1. Find the BPC cube associated with your BPC application. Right Click on the cube and select "change real time load behavior". Select the radio button corresponding to "Real time data target can be planned, Loading not allowed".
You should be able to successfully save data from a BPC input template.

I am having a reqirement in B2C web portal , where in i have to create two input text fields which will accept userid and password ( the userid and password will be of b2b users)and button to logon and if i click on the logon button, it should take into b2b web portal. KM Content Export/Import

Version 7.00 SP16
I need to transport KM resources with their GUIDs from our DEV to QA manually but i'm having trouble with the Pending Imports iView "Content Administration/KM Content/Import/Pending Imports" in our QA system.
At first i did not have the pending imports layoutset, it was showing me the folder in consumerexplorer "I still don't why because both Dev/QA have the same versions/setup". I was missing some KM config for the com.sap.netweaver.kmc.expimp File System Repository Manager and the ExpImp* Flex UI components. I transported the missing objects from Dev to QA and restarted the system.
I now have the Pending Imports iView but after i upload a .kmc transport package successfully and go the pending imports iView, i don't see any entry. if i try to re-upload the package, it tells me that one already exist with that ID, If i browse to /com.sap.netweaver.kmc.expimp/expimp/import/pending i can see the transport package in question but the folder /~system/expimp/import/pending which the Pending Imports iView points to is empty.
The transport package is in .kmc and not zip formats. I can transport via ICE and WebDav but both methods do not transport the GUIDs which is what i need.
I'm running out of ideas and don't know why it's not working. Hopefully someone here has the solution.

Thanks for the response.
It looks like we still have enough space available in the mount. Space available is more than 10GB, transport package 5MB.
I looked at the default trace and i get an exception during the import but there is not much information from what i can see.

Special Character in password!

Hi,
Is there any documentation exists which tell us what all special characters can be used in password?
If we use for example "," (comma) is password then NCo returns the error "Invalid User ID / Password (repeat logon)". Where as through SAPGUI login is successful.

To be more specific, what I wanted to know is, if user can login through SAPGUI having comma (for example) in password, why NCo throws an exception ?
Is there any documentation exists which says which special characters can not be used with Nco OR is there anyway to handle them ?
