Pentax Optio W60:  Is this camera supported?

Is this camera supported by iPhoto? I have tried numerous ways to import the photos into iPhoto, although nothing works. Am I missing a driver? The avi. files will not play with quicktime either. Normally you plug in an sd card via usb and away you go, the iPhoto importer opens automatically. This does not happen. Nothing happens. I have saved the jpeg files onto my desktop and dragged them into iPhoto, I get this reply:
"The application iPhoto quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the Avilmporter plug-in"
I have even tried to import with image capture, but all it does is safe the jpegs on my desktop.
Help!

If the camera shoots jpeg then yes, it is supported.

Remove the AviImporter plug in. This is usually found in one of two Quicktime Folders:
HD/Library/ Quicktime
or
HD/Users / Your Name / Library / Quicktime
If the avi files you import then do not play, try install Perian

  • Any ideas why PE7 will not handle avi from Pentax Optio w60?

I am able to work with the avi video files on all of my other software editing programs but PE7 is my favorite. For some reason when I import the avi files from my SD card / Pemtax Optio W60 camera I can only hear the audio in the editing window...no video.
I am not 100% on this but I have seen some postings on the Pentax forum that says the Pentax AVI video is NOT using DiVX or XvID compression... it is saved using the DV codec. I am not certain that is the codec used on this model...or what that would mean anyway.
I would appreciate any and all information, suggestions and recommendations to resolve this.

There are two good MJPEG CODEC's that work with the Nikon D-90 material and will allow editing in PrPro. The MainConcept and the Morgan have done well. Do not know how well PE will handle it, but if not well, Steve's advice will get it into PE as a DV-AVI Type II file.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Sony A6000 (ILCE-6000) - When will this camera support my RAW files ?

Ant idea when my new Sony A6000 (ILCE-6000) is supported ? (RAW files).
Now i just get the "Unsupported Image Format" message, when I try importing files...
    Best regards,

Same issue here. I have to pull exposure all the way to -2 and get color clipping.
Have you tried to adjust the Raw Fine Tuning settings in the Adjustment panel? Lower the "Boost" slider settings?

  • Downloading a Pentax Optio 50 camera

I'm trying to download from a Pentax Optio 50 camera via usb. When the camera is connected and switched on it is not automatically detected and a message 'data being processed' is displayed. The camera then switches off after approximately 5 seconds. Any suggestions other than getting a new camera?

We'll know when it happens, Lucht - software companies don't make support promises in advance.

I do not use lightroom and  I have a subscription so I can open all supported RAW formats. You will need DNG file for Your Camera's NEF files for use in Photoshop ACR version.  You can open your NEF files in LR it seems so you could do all your raw conversion with Lightroom and save out Tiff files for processing in Photoshop.   I do use lightroom for I do not need its library.  Lightroom does not support layered files so lightroom is of no value to me.  ACR UI is all I need having a second interface to Adobe Raw Conversion Engine would more annoyance than value to me.

  • Does camera raw support the Nikon D5300, if not when there will be an update for this camera model?

Does camera raw support the Nikon D5300, if not when there will be an update for this camera model?

The asterisk next the model number on the download page linked above means there is preliminary support, which usually means the camera is supported by pretending it is an earlier model with similar sensor.  This can lead to color issues, so while you can convert your NEFs to DNGs with the DNG Converter, and open them with PSE12, now, save your NEFs and be prepared to revisit those pictures once the final release of ACR 8.3 occurs probably in the next few weeks, with finalized support.

  • WHEN will you support raw files for Canon 70D in PE? This camera has been out for months!

WHEN will you support raw files for Canon 70D in PE? This camera has been out for months!

    Hi,
PSE 12 with updates or PSE 13 should support the Canon 70D.
Which version do you have and which operating system are you running on?
If you have an older version of PSE, you could use the DNG converter to convert the CR2 files to DNG files - then you can use the DNG files in PSE.

  • Fuji x100 will aperture support this camera ?

Does anyone know if Aperture intends to support the new Fuji X 100, or if they don't what other tools are available to import the x100 raw files into Aperture ?

There's no way to know unfortunately.
what other tools are available to import the x100 raw files into Aperture ?
the X100 RAW files need to be converted in either RAW File Converter EX (which is bundled with the camera) or the free RAW Photo Processor. Needless to say it's a very cumbersome and clumsy process. So much so that I've gone back to shooting JPEG with this camera for the time being, which takes some getting used to.
I'll probably start shooting RAW+JPEG once I'm out of my testing phase in the hopes that Apple will eventually support it. I can't see myself integrating either of the apps I mentioned in my normal workflow, even if I'm not planning to use the X100 as a work camera.
    Fingers crossed for Aperture support.

  • Just got a Canon G7 x only to find that lightroom 5 and PS6 don't support the camera RAW that it produces. Tried the Camera raw 8.7 and that didn't help. Will there be an update that includes this camera?

I'm sure there will be support for the camera eventually. But Adobe never announces that information in advance. It's possible that it could be added to the 8.7 final release and to the next update of Lightroom. But that depends on the timeline and if the engineers were able to get the camera in time to create profiles. You'll just have to wait and see.

  • Pentax K-x calibration with Camera Raw 3.1, and calibration updates

The Pentax K-x will save its raw files in either DNG (Adobe) format, or PEF (Pentax) format. Until Camera Raw 3.1 was released, I had my K-x writing DNG files, since there was no support in Apperture for PEF files. With Camera Raw 3.1, the K-x is now explicitly included, so that I could switch to PEF format.
My initial sense after doing that was that the PEF files were coming in darker than the DNG files had. But when I switched back to DNG, those were darker than I thought they should be, too. Since I had DNG files that had been processed with Camera Raw 3.0, I went back and made new versions, processing those with Camera Raw 3.1. Those, too, were much darker than the same files processed with the earlier raw developer. For examples, this picture is from a K-x DNG master processed with Camera Raw 3.0, while this picture is from the same master, reprocessed with Camera Raw 3.1. I've embedded the histograms shown in the inspector in each. Each of those has no adjustments applied. The JPEG image produced in camera (I shoot Raw+JPEG) is much closer to the brighter 3.0 image than the darker 3.1 image.
I've seen one other report of similar behaviour with K-x images in here, but that took the approach that the solution was to revert to Camera Raw 3.0, for now, at least. I hate to move backward, particularly if it locks me out of any future updates. So, does Apple have a history of recalibrating cameras that they've already released Raw support for? Might this change in a future Camera Raw update, or is this likely to be what they alway render for the K-x?
I can get the new style images looking okay (in fact, they seem to have better noise characteristics) with a good deal of adjustment, but not if I confine my adjustments to the Raw Processing brick. There, Boost and Hue Boost are both maxxed out by default, already. If I add adjustments in the exposure brick, and maybe a few others, I can probably get a general set of adjustments that will work as a default for this camera, but how common is it to have to do that?

Aperture 3 mostly seems to work fine for me, at the moment. There were some issues with importing my iPhoto Library that I've mostly worked out, and some quirks that were fixed by the 3.0.1 update. I'm not saying it's all better, but it's not the doom that one might imagine reading some of the threads here, either.
I only had the trial version of Aperture 2, though. I only got the K-x in late December, and before that, I had no need for raw processing. The software Pentax supplies is UGLY, though, and iPhoto wasn't cutting it, so I tried the Aperture 2 trial and the Lightroom 3 beta. I concluded that I much preferred Aperture to Lightroom, but I wasn't going to buy Aperture 2 when all the speculation was that Aperture 3 was right around the corner, or not coming at all. Since my Aperture 2 trial had run out, it wasn't a hard choice to buy Aperture 3 as soon as it came out. I do find I use the editing brushes more than I imagined I would, and I'm very happy that it now directly supports my camera - I've switched to shooting PEF raw instead of DNG raw.

  • Pentax Optio A10 - Movie Failure

I have a Pentax Optio A10 compact camera. The stills are fine, but the movies don't have sound once imported into iMovie HD 6.0.1 (and other software including Quicktime Pro & iPhoto.)
I (eventually) got an email back fm Pentax which said "Unfortunately DivX playback is not supported for Mac OS." However, the movies do play with sound when using VLC.
Any ideas as to how I can get the files with sound into iMovie? According to camera paperwork file format is MPEG-4 DivX.
    Thanks for any help.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes I believe I installed the DivX component some time ago. I do not have access to the machine right now but will double-check later to be certain, and will confirm or otherwise. Do you know how I check that it is installed?
Apart from the movie issue, I'm happy with the camera so far, but have to say I haven't actually used it very much yet. On paper, the size / weight / specification combination is great. In terms of actual results, the few point and shoots I've done so far have been nothing spectacular, but not bad either. Forthcoming holiday will test it fully, and will let you know.
    Meantime thanks for your response.
    Regards
    Pete

  • Movies from Pentax Optio wg 2 not playing in iPhoto

After importing movies from my Pentax Optio WG 2 camera to iPhoto it does not allow me to view the movie. The movie thumbnail is visible in my "photo gallery", but when I double click on the thumbnail it opens to a black screen. Any imported photos from this camera (Pentax Optio WG 2) are visible both as a thumbnail as well as when I double click on them (to edit etc.)

Yes, when Apple released OSX Mavericks they made some changes to Quicktime 10 (QT 10) and tada; your camera is obsolete!   (In 10.8 the WG-2 videos work fine)
    The issue is that the MOV container that the WG2 creates is not quite right.  If you open the file with QT7 and save it again, QT7 fixes the container and then QT10 will be able to open and play the file (so will iPhoto, QuickView, iMovie, etc.)   However QT10 is unable to recognize the problem and just pukes on the file (if you try and open the file in Finder, it will tell you the file is damaged and should be moved to Trash.)   I have asked Apple if they will consider making QT10 a little smarter (e.g. "this file needs to be updated/fixed, ok to make the change?"), but so far nothing.   You could ask them to help us out, by giving them some constructive feedback here;
    https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
    If you want to manually fix all your files, you can get QT7 here;
QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later

  • Have OMD EM5, need Camera Raw and PS Elements that work with this camer

I've been using PS Elements 9 on a MAC.  Can't use RAW.  Know I need a plug-in.  If I upgrade to PS 12, how do I find out what Camera Raw I need?  What is compatible with this camera (OMD EM5)?

Yes, you need at least PSE 11, but PSE 12 should work just fine. Download the trial and check it out.
Here's a list of the minimum versions of ACR for each camera model:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
PSE 12 comes with ACR 8 and can be updated to 8.5.
