People can't hear me when I make or receive calls even though I can hear them.

My iphone 4 was working fine yesterday but today it's not!
I couldnt see why it wasn't working properly so thought i'd try the old "if all else fails turn it off and turn it back on again" lol and when I instantly made a phone call after doing that the person at the other end could hear me fine but then a few minutes into the conversation it went again and they couldnt hear me. I'm definitely not accidently touching the mute button as I have checked this already.
Any ideas please? Thanks

Just updated my iPhone 5 to the new IOS 7.0.6and now when I make or receive calls, the other person can't hear me. I have tried doing a hard reboot and resetting the network settings, but neither of those solved the problem. Any suggestions??

  • After a successful home button repair, I've got a buzzing sound when I make or receive calls. No problem with the speaker as I can listen to online radio stations and my music.

After a successful home button repair on my iPhone 4, I've got a buzzing sound when I make or receive calls. No problem with the speaker as I can listen to online radio stations and my music.

I guess your definition of a "successful repair" is different from most people's.
If you got it serviced by Apple, take it back to them.
If you had it serviced by a 3rd party, Apple won't touch it. Take it back to whoeever fixed it for you.

  • I dont have sound when I make or receive calls. Please Help!

For the last two days, I havent been able to make or receive calls because I either have no sound or static. I was chatting with AT&T online support and he tried resetting and other various options to fix it but finally advised me to take it in to a store and get a new sim card. I just did that and still, I do not have sound. It is very frustrating!! I havent damaged my phone in any way, I havent dropped it or wet it....I checked to see if its still under warranty but of course, it expired. What are my options? Can anyone help?

Can you use the earbuds that came with the phone to see if you can make or receive a call with them? If so then you might have a bad earphone jack that is not switching to the internal speaker when you remove them.

  • I accidentally left my phone in my work truck and the temperature got too hot..Since I cooled down, everything works fine except when I make and receive calls, the person can't hear me at all :(. Does anyone possiblly know what I can do ?

My iPhone 4s got too hot and since any calls I make or receive, the person on the opposite end can't hear me at all... Any suggestions?

I have had this happen to me on 3GS, 4 and 4s.   Usually the solution is one of the following:
1-  If  your volume indicator says  headphones even though they are not plugged in, then:
Stick your headphones into the headphone jack and then remove quickly.
    2. If that does not work Power your phone off. Then when restarting Reset the phone by pressing the home button and the power button at the same time until the apple logo appears.
    3. Make sure you have not chosen to send audio to an Airplay device such as Apple Tv.
Hope one of these works for you

  • Droid pro ringer turns off when I make or receive call.

When i make or recieve a call the phone turns off all sounds. When I hit the volume button once everything is back on . Any ideas? I can not find any apps that may be doing it but i haven't started deleting them to see either.

hco1972, the audio issue is not a known issue with this phone and I'm sorry to hear your having this problem. I'm happy you can hit the volume key to restore the sound but understand the inconvenience of having to perform this step every time you have a call or want to make a call. I reviewed this issue in detail and found that you can change some settings to resolve this issue. I have listed the steps below.
    1) Click Settings
    2) Click Call Settings
    3) Click Uncheck HAC Mode Settings
After you have performed the above steps, power cycle your device off an on for 1-2 minutes.

  • My iPad makes no sound when I send or receive email even though sound is on

When I send or receive emails on my ipad, I do not get a sound at all even though I have set it to swoosh and ding.  What else should I be setting?

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you either mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via the taskbar in iOS 6 (double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar), Control Centre in iOS 7 (swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the line of 5 icons) . The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

    Hello there, RobenCaatje.
The following Knowledge Base article is specific for the issue you're describing:
iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1630
    Specifically:
    Resolution
Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (chooseSettings > General > Bluetooth).
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

    Hey Tlabounty,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with the microphone on your iPhone 5. To troubleshoot this issue, you may find the information in this article helpful:

Note that speakerphone and regular calls utilize seperate microphones on the device. It sounds like you have isolated the issue. Furthermore, if you determine that the issue is hardware related, the following resource may help you get started with the service process:

  • When I make an outgoing call the recipient cannot hear me very well as though the volume was turned down very low. However when I activate the speakerphone the recipient can hear me loud and clear. I transferred my SIM Card into a new device Same problem

When I make an outgoing call the recipient cannot hear me very well as though the volume was turned down very low. However when I activate the speakerphone the recipient can hear me loud and clear. I transferred my SIM Card into a new device only to be subjected to the exact same problem. I have reset the phone clearing all the data and updated to the most recent software version available from itunes; and still no improvements. The results of my switching to a new phone would indicate a software issue.
Does anyone out there have this problem and how can it be fixed?
    Thanks,
    Teresa

Try removing the screen protector that is covering the microphone.
Scratch that; wrong answer. I thought you meant you had trouble hearing.

  • How do I change the settings so that when I make a phone call I can make my screen go black and not mute the call with my cheek or it tries to face time my call. I need to change the sensitivity or something! Please help!!

How do I change my phone settings on my iPhone 5 so that when I make a phone call while I am on the phone call my phone stays lit up. It never goes black so I am constantly hitting other buttons while I try to talk like mute or FaceTime or speaker! Please help this is so annoying! It's like all I need to do is fix the settings somehow and I have gone through all of my settings and I can't find where to do this!

Is the phone in a case?  Try taking it out of the case.  If that doesn't work, then your proximity sensor is broken.  You'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

Got the same problem – even after the upgrade to OSX 10.10.1. A restart usally helps. Even though the calls sometimes drop I got no crackling noise problem on iOS, though.
