Try speaker phone. If it works then you need a new bottom mic.

    Hello mingels79,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you are having issues displaying certain web cams and games.
It would help to know which product and operating system you are using.
For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

  • (newbie and technophobe here) Help with speakers and web camera ...

    Hello, everyone!
I've had my G-5 since I ordered new in November of 2005, and only now am I geting around to purchasing speakers and musing about a web camera.
On speakers, the kid at Best Buy yesterday told me that speakers aren't really operating system specific. That is, that they plug and play into any computer and don't require any software; like speakers do to a stereo. However, I just noticed the speakers I bought (Logitech Z-10) for $120.00 do not have "Macintosh" listed on the box as it does for a PC on the Requirements listing. Before I open this box and find out they don't work properly, do I really need Mac specific speakers?
I also went to the Mac store here in Fashion Valley and they no longer carried any web cameras. After visiting three other computer retailers such as Best Buy, and Frys, I came up dry on cameras for a Mac. I do however have an Ebay merchant selling a MacAlly iceCam Web Camera Mac right here in town who I can drive over and purchase one if I want to. However, after going on Ebay, I noticed that the $300.00 Mac iSight camera is there for sale, so I was wondering what the difference was. The MacAlly one is around $27.00, whereas the iSight is close to $300.00. Is the iSight worth the price in other words? What can it do that the MacAlly can't? Would the MacAlly suffice just to talk to another across the country?
    Thank you.
    G-5 Imac Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Martin, Rod:
Thank you for your responses. I think I have Panther(10.3.9), so will iChatAV be in that system, or will I have to upgrade to Tiger in order to make full use of an iSight camera ? Can I web camera with AOL subscribers, or am I pretty much limited as to who I can conference with?
Thank you for clearing up the speaker thing. It looks like I'll be returning them to Best Buy tomorrow, and then start a search for Apple specific speakers. Thanks again.
iSight question: It looks like I'm going to have to purchase an iSight web camera at an overinflated price at a site such as Ebay since Apple no longer produces them, so my question is, Does anyone know whether the camera came with software or manuals (In case the seller doesn't have any) ... or does one actually need any?
Keychain Question: What's this annoying keychain box that pops up everytime I use Safari? How do I get rid of it? What's it for? What am I supposedly unlocking? I don't think I have a keychain password.
Thank you all for your assistance,
    Frank

  • Cant here the people in my group call

I cant  here anyone in my group call, but everything else works fine and produces sound. when i im in a call with only one person i can hear them but as soon as i add another person i cant hear anyone.

    Work Around:
On your mac (be interested to know if it works for Outlook):
    1.  Open a new email
    2.  Insert name of an existing group into one of the "To" fields as usual.
    3.  Highlight all the resulting names in the "To" entry
[Highlight first name, and while holding shift, highlight last name and all will highlight[]
    4. Copy (Command C) the highlighted emails
    5. Paste (Command V) nto a pages document
    6. Remove the name and anything else preceeding the first < and also the first < of only the first entry whixh will look like this:
         [email protected]>,
    7. Remove the > of the last email which will look like this:
         , Jane Doe <[email protected]
    8. Copy the entire altered list from the pages document
9, Go to Contact Book and click + to add a new entry
10.. Name the entry (XXX Group for iPad) or whatever you wish to call it
    11.  Paste all the copied altered list into any one of the email entry spaces
    12.  Click on "Done"
    13.  Create new email On iPad and click on + in any one of the "To" lines and search for "XXX Group for iPad"  You cannot just key in XXX Group for iPad!!!!!!!, you must use + contact search.
    14.  Enter the selected iPad contact group into the "To" line.
    15.  All the entries will now appear in the "To" line and you are good to go.
Adding or deleting email addresses from the iPad group:
Easiest:  Alter the original mac group in the usual way and repeat steps 1-14 above.  It seems impossible to edit within the emai line of the iPad contact entry.
    Rediculously simple once figured out.
Happy emailling, but please send Bcc so that you don't spread your groups' email addresses all over the internet for spam, viruses, and other unwanted emails.  Be considerate and ask your recipients to notifiy you if they wish to be deleted from the lists you compose.

  • On my iPhone 4, people cant hear me when I make and / or receive normal (GSM) phone calls. But when on calls using internet based / native apps like viber or skype, people can hear me just fine. Voice memos work too and have already tried different SIMs

On my iPhone 4, people cant hear me when I make and / or receive normal (GSM) phone calls. But when I make/receive calls using internet-based / native apps like viber or skype, people can hear me just fine. I have tried recording my voice using voice memos - this works. And have already tried different SIM cards but the problem persists.
I have taken my phone to an authorized Apple service center, where they restored my phone to factory settings, but still facing the same issue. They service center directed me to Apple Customer Care Hotline, where I have now spent 3+ hours explaining my issue and yet no one can resolve it. The easy answer if to replace the phone - and since it is out of warranty, I am expected to pay for it.
Additionally, the customer service has been so rude and confrontational that it has completely changed my view of Apple and its customer focus. I am a disappointed and angry customer today - people would be surprised to hear just how rude customer service was including making statements such as "Apple doesnt make infallible products, that's why warranty is needed for our products" and that "every product undergoes a problem at some stage, so do ours!" There goes whatever confidence I had...
My concern is simple - if no one at Apple and / or its CS hotline is able to address my issue comprhensively and keep telling me that they have never encountered a precedent before, then with what right can they expect me to pay for a replacement?! I am NOT here to fund Apple's research into their product faults and manufacturing.
And even though a customer is out of warranty, is it too much to expect an Apple product to work well for at least a 'reasonable' period of time. My phone is less than 18 months old and has been facing this issue for the past 2 months - surely the longevity of Apple products is more than 18 months!
Just a sad sad day for an Apple customer, compounded by unjustifiably rude and aggressive staff. And still no resolution to my problem.

I am having the same issue - with my last 2 iPhone 4's. My first handset each time I was on a call wether it was up to my ear or on loud speaker, the call would automatically mute even though the mute button wouldn't show up as highlighted. Pressing the mute button on and off during the call doesn't fix it either. I rang Apple and asked what some of their trouble shooting solutions were. I got told that it might be a software issue and to install the latest software update. This failed. I then got told to uninstall the software on the phone and do a complete restore. This also failed. After trying the troubleshooting suggestions, I took the phone into my provider and they sent me out a new phone within a week under warranty claiming it was a hardware issue and probably just a "glitch" with that particular phone. This was not the case....
After receiving my second iPhone 4, I was hopeful that it would work. For the first couple of days, making/receiving calls was not an issue. Until after about a week, the same problem started again. In one instance I had to hang up and call back 4 times and the call would still automatically mute after about 5 seconds. Also on the second handset, the main camera located on the back of the phone has red and blue lines running through it and can't take a decent picture. So back to the store I go to get another replacement - Again.
For a phone that is rated highly and as a keen Apple product purchaser, I am a bit disappointed with the experience I have had with the iPhone 4. Let's hope they find a fix sometime soon because this is becoming a bit beyond a joke.....!!

  • Skype web cam

I want a web cam to use on Skype, does it have to be the isight or is there a cheaper cam that would work?

    Hi GGL,
External iSights are no longer available in the EU due to a regulation change about safe disposal.
    Your choices are:
Any Firewire DV output Camcorder (6 pin to 6 pin)
    Any Firewire web cam
Any USB Cam with Mac drivers and the iChatUSBCam utility
Check out their camera page for suggestions.
In fact iSights (external) are now in extremely short supply the world over. (No Apple store has any).
This would point to a new product or solution soon.
Rumours are not allowed to be discussed here.

  • No Question, just example web cam capture code

    Hi,
Since loads of people ask for an example of capturing pics from a web cam, here's one that captures pics, lets you take snapshots, which it displays in another frame. When you shut down the frame it asks if you want to save it to a JPEG.
I'm mainly posting this to spite Eka_Kupkova, who only visits this forum to shamelessly advertise a commercial Twain based package in every single posting on this forum which mentions web cams.
Notes : ( Could be more, read the install docs for JMF )
    1. you must download the "performance" version of jmf to capture video.
    2. I "think" you need to setup the JMF_HOME environment variable
    3. Run the jmfinit program to detect your camera and register it.
I had to run it a couple of times before it worked.
    4. I had 2 icons for my toolbar, BtnFormat.jpg and BtnCapture.jpg.
They were just 16 x 16 pixel bitmaps, you can make them up yourself.
    5. I assume you've got the webcam working and the driver installed already.
Ps. if you find this useful, then reply back with where you are in the world. I'm in Dublin, Ireland.
    cheers,
    Owen

Doohhh... I posted an old version which didn't work.
I tried and tested this last night, and it runs grand using Ver 2.1.1e.
Tested under Windows 98, using an old Creative GO Camera.
Haven't tried it under Linux, but suspect you'd have to at least change an references to "vfw" to "v4l".
You'll need jmf.jar in your classpath to run it too.
    cheers,
    Owen

  • Skype not recognising web camera

I have tried everything to get skype to recognise my web cam again. It used to work fine in a previous version of skype but now nothing seems to work. I have tried reverting back to an earlier version and only get the message "page not found". Skype does recognise the microphone in my camera so I am able to do NO VIDEO calls, but I have seen sooooooo many complaints about this problem with sooooo many ideas from people trying to help and NOTHING works. The suggestion that going back to an earlier version is STUPID. You tell me I have to go back in time to fix YOUR **bleep**up. All I want to do is use Skype free to call video like I used to be able to do. Why does this program recognise the mic in my camera and NOT the camera.......... My suggestion is that Skype should be promoting OTHER free to call programs from other companies, as they dont seem to care about what caused this problem to happen to so many people, and seem uninterested in fixing the problem.. I am running Windows 7 on a desktop and laptop. If anyone can help please email me at [Mod edit: Please do not include personal/private information when making a public post. Thanks!] and I live in New Zealand.

    Hey,
I have an identical problem and nothing seems to work. All the settings are fine. Did they ever get back to you? Did it get fixed?
    Thanks a lot,

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • How to use the cam as a web cam

How could i use the cam , which is already installed in the mac book pro as a web cam ?

    To talk to people?
The iChat application will allow that.
If you have a .mac account, then you can use that as your ichat user id and password, otherwise you can also use AIM - go here to create a user id and password and then enter them into iChat (remember to specify that it's an AIM account)..
    https://reg.my.screenname.aol.com/cqr/registration/initRegistration.psp?lang=en&locale=us&createSn=1&sitedomain=ww w.aim.com&siteState=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aim.com%2Fgetaim%2Fcongratsd2.adp&mcAuth=%2FBcAG0dPhpgAAPd%2BA%2F8ZYUdPhtQIH1rLc92KTAoAAA%3D% 3D
If that link doesn't work, then go to www.aim.com and click the button which says "get a screen name"
Once done, anyone who has a .mac or AIM id can enter your user id and chat with you.
    Hope that helps.
    Best of luck.
PS - iChat is the application with the speech bubble icon.

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP 15-r250tu Notebook and issues with the WebCam and Nokia phone. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that might need updating.  Here is a link to troubleshoot the Webcam in Windows 8.1. I would uninstall the software for the Webcam and download it from the document on how to reinstalling the original webcam program that came with your computer. Figure 2: Drivers and Applications Reinstall. Here is a link to help with the Nokia phone. They are the best suited to help troubleshoot their device and they would be happy to help you out. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Welcome to the discussions, Brett. Is you iWeb site hosted on .Mac? ...If not, blog comments aren't supported.
Here's what iWeb's Help viewer says:
Allowing visitors to add comments and attachments...
If you publish your site to .Mac, you can let visitors post comments to your blog or podcast entries.
To allow visitors to add comments and attachments:
Select a blog or podcast page in the site organizer.
If the Blog & Podcast Inspector isn't open, click Inspector in the toolbar (or choose View > Show Inspector), and then click the Blog & Podcast Inspector button.
In the Blog pane of the inspector, select "Allow comments."
To permit visitors to attach files (such as images) to their comments, select "Allow attachments."
If you later deselect the "Allow comments" checkbox, no new comments may be added; previously written comments are not affected.
Tip: Only group members can post comments to a website published to a group. To limit who can post to your site, you can password-protect it.

  • My Browser crashes when Enabling My Web-Camera?

My web-cam is ok i think, It works on the software that came with it on my laptop. I have also Uninstalled the device software and updated it.
If i go to this site called www.testwebcam.com it works perfectly fine on their and that uses Flash. It is just site like Ustream, TvJustin, Stickam, Omegle, Chatroulette.I have
Unistalled Adobe flash a dozen times and Shockwave and updated them and nothing.
If i am using IE and i try to access these site with my camera it will just close the page but if i do this on Chrome it says "The following plug in has crashed: Shockwave flash" and then will a little jigsaw un-happy face.
If i go to Youtube.com and Right click on a video and then go to settings then Adobe Flash Setting Comes up i try to click the camera option and it crashes?
I have a built in Camera on my laptop but it has only started doing this for not so long, It used to be fine.
I have searched all over the Web on forums and asked so many people for help and they just dont know what it could be, If you have any idea what this problem is please let me know it would mean so much.
    Thanks.

I'm sorry for implying you're a spammer if you're not.
This forum is specific to Adobe Camera Raw, which is a plug-in for the various Photoshops that opens raw camera files.  About as unrelated to a webcam as one can get.
Spammers do occasionally show up in these forums, making what seem like disjointed responses that contain links to other sites.  The idea is that they own those sites and are trying to drive traffic to them so they can get larger payouts from things like Google Adsense for more views of their advertisements.
